Macello Meathouse in Liverpool

Meal here with my son this evening. Food was excellent & the staff really looked after us. The manager, Lisa, couldn’t have been more helpful. Medium Rare ribeye was cooked to perfection & the Very reasonably priced Merlot complemented the meat really well. The only thing missing is a vegan option on the menu which would allow us to come here more often with my daughter!! Thanks again guys.

Our first time in Macello Childwall to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we’ll definitely be returning. We had the sharing platter plus some sides and the food was all amazing. Service was great, the staff are all lovely and really look after the customers. We were not rushed at all and stayed for drinks after our meal. Thanks so much for a great night.

Amazing food, amazing service, the steaks are the best in the North West, had a medium rare ribeye with the spicy creamy sauce and I didn't want the dish to end! Shout out to Lisa, the manager who looked after us brilliantly, the service from the whole team is also excellent! Just wish one day I can get one of those Tomahawk steaks which look incredible!

Came here with family pre Christmas. All of the food was absolutely amazing with us all having different starters and we got a tomahawk for 4 people. Tasted great but was more medium than medium rare however still juicy and very tasty. Service really good and staff very friendly. Would definitely go back for a special occasion as although expensive the meat was of great quality

The food was quite nice but very expensive. We paid £165 for 1 Tomahawk & TBone. I was disappointed by the service, we were not greeted on arrival and it was slow and uncoordinated. It seems they are too obsessed with football players and not normal people. The owners treat football player like royalty which is really childish.There are better steak restaurants in the area and much better service!

Ordered two burgers take out during Jan lockdown. Food was absolutely gorgeous. Will definitely order again and visit when lockdown is over.

I called up a little last min to see if I could get a a table. Lisa was amazing she managed to squeeze me in. It was my first time coming down and it didn’t fail. Lisa was amazing from start to finish greeting us am making us feel welcome. She noticed it was a date and recommended the T bone for myself with some sides and helped my date choose for the amazing menu. The food came out with a little show and went down lovely! I will 100% be come back thanks to Lisa. Give the her a raise! I will definitely be coming back!

Really surprised with this place. Can't believe I put on a shirt on when most people were dressed down in hoodies and trackies.All I could hear was a loud group shouting. At one point ordering by shouting across the restaurant. 3 drinks, 2 mains and 2 desserts for £80. I'd expect a bit more class. Just to be clear this is the first time I've had this opinion about a restaurant. I'm not a snob by long shot but £80.....even weatherspoons don't allow people in trackies.Food was nice and decent value although a bit pricey. I'd avoid date night there at all costs. Never going again, which is a shame as it's walking distance and I wanted to find a good local place.

This restaurant is one of the best restaurants I have visited. The restaurant itself is very classy and so welcoming. The staff were brilliant especially Memet who was fabulous. However the best bit of our visit was the meal (T-Bone Steak) was out of this world. 100 out of 10!!!!!!!

The whole experience was amazing. Starting of with the boss team who provide the highest of service each and every time. Food was lovely, the best steaks in north west. Would definitely recommend for everyone who’s interested. Also the specials are just on another level; anyone who loves steaks or is up for the challenge should have a go at the T bone or Tomahawks. Had a lovely night and the manager Lisa just made the whole experience x10 better. Highly recommend both of the restaurants.

Amazing food with excellent service. We had a meal there last night to celebrate 2 birthdays. The restaurant was well set out and observed all the rules for tier 3 lockdown without any problems. The food was delicious. We had 2 of the sharing platters for starters then we all had different main courses and we all agreed the food was superb. The service was excellent. All the staff were pleasant, friendly, helpful and very efficient. Lisa's recommendation of the Shiraz/Malbec was spot on. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Visited last month for my sons 14th birthday. He loves a well cooked nice cut of steak well he wasn't disappointed. Its been a full month and he still can't stop talking about his prawn starter either to which I reply but my chicken starter was unbelievable. The food just speaks for itself. The service was lovely the girl was very helpful in advising sides to swap or get additional the red wine list in particular was beautiful to compliment the gorgeous meat. Covid standards where great our table was spotless there was a sanitiseron table and staff all had visors. To feel safe aswell as looked after was great.Thanks so much for making a partial lockdown birthday special for my eldest child

Me and my boyfriend came for our anniversary, and we could not have been happier with the food and the service. Amazing value for money, every part of it was delicious. The service Lisa provided was 10/10 she was so welcoming and friendly. 100% recommend and will definitely return xx

Had the Sirloin with creamy potatoes... Steak was lovely, however it only included about 3 small halved potatoes, no veg! I was still hungry after finishing mine. My partner had the Spicy chicken burger which was much more substantial, thank god she couldn’t finish it all! I polished off the remainder. In short, food is good but you don’t get a lot with the stk, which is disappointing because it’s not cheap. Surely a few more potatoes, and a bit of veg would not dent the mark up too much?

Me and my partner recently visited the Childwall restaurant after deciding to stay local than the usual venture into town. The food was lovely from the prawns for starter to the steaks. Staff were pleasant and knowledgeable, special mention to Joe who was attentive and made sure we had an enjoyable evening. Restaurant is known for its steaks, only gripe I had was the price as I’ve had same quality but cheaper in other steak houses in Liverpool. Would definitely return as a treat.

First I’ll qualify that this is about the West Derby Restaurant. Great Service, nice setting and a fab seafood share platter to start... looking good. Then the mains. Oh, dear. I ordered Texas steak with fries. The steak was tough as old boots. I asked for no salt as I don’t do well with it. It had salt! I actually couldn’t finish it but my wife finished it out of embarrassment. Her steak was all sauce and little substanceThe fries, cold, insubstantial and bitty. New fries hot but no other change. I was angry because I’d paid so much for so poor a plate. The irony is the best steak I’ve had in Liverpool is not even a steakhouse. Now I’m happy to say maybe it was an off or one of poor decision but this restaurant is not cheap and there should be no ‘off’. Deeply, deeply disappointing and frustrating.

Cannot fault the food or service but in comparison to other establishments around the city, I have had better steaks for a more competitive price even from the top restaurants in the city;

I ate here with my two teenage boys. We had the Marcello Platter to start which was delicious ! We were all really pleased with our main meal selection. Everything was cooked to perfection. No complaints from my sons, they ate it all that quickly they practically inhaled their meals. Given the current climate with Covid I was quite apprehensive about eating out. I didn't have to worry, all requirements were followed, tables spread apart and protocols followed. We were served by Lisa who made sure everything was faultless. Thank you :)

Due to Covid, all celebrations were cancelled. Decided to have a meal here with the wife. Had the lokum and Texas steaks. Cooked to perfection. Lisa was the perfect host. Cannot recommend the place more highly!

Visited on Friday 9th October with my girlfriend we came from the midlands as we had seen very good reviews and it did not disappoint. The starter main and desert were all very nice and the price wasn’t too bad either. Would definitely recommend.

By far the best steakhouse I have ever been to! We had a sharing platter to start which was perfect as you got to try a bit of everything (definitely recommend) and then the BEST steak ever and to finish off, a delicious cheesecake! I will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family and will be back again soon!

Having lived in West Derby all my life, it’s great to see the village expending with more restaurants, especially Macello Meathouse. I’ve visited the restaurant a few times and you can not fault it at all. The food and service is exceptional! The waiting staff are attentive, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. The food is out of this world, a good choice of starters and mains and a great menu for the little ones. (They even cater for veggies) Their steaks are the absolute best I’ve ever tasted and cooked to perfection. All restrictions regarding Covid are adhered to, which made me feel very safe. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant it’s absolutely amazing, 5 stars!!!

We arrived for my husbands birthday ..our first time out socially since tightened covid restrictions..We arrived wearing our masks and were assigned to our table which was very near the stairwell.We were told to wear our masks if we left our table at any time which was fine..After browsing the menu we ordered and were very quickly told that both of our chouces were 'off menu'..It was 8pm on a Tuesday eveningThen we ordered a bottle of house red which they didnt have..so we chose another bottle( more expensive obviously) but were not offered a reduction dispite them not having anything we had asked for..Finally we were able to place an order and waited for our wine..we were not asked to try it before accepting and then our starters arrived..Starter no1 3 tiny garlic prawns in a creme sauce..starter 2 calamari..both tiny portions and not very appetising.The bread had an enormous amount of balsamic glaze over it ..which is a shame..no choice as to whether it could be served separately.My main was a steak burger and the blood soaked through the bread ..my husbands meat was really over seasoned with some spice that was really unpleasant.Throughout our meal customers were walking around without face coverings...we were very disapointed this wasnt addressed by staff or management.Sorry but this place won't have our repeat custom..Too expensive considering not enough attention to detail..It certainly doesnt live up to previous fine dining we have experienced elsewhere.

Birthday treat lunch from a Friend on Sunday 03/10/2020 - West Derby Branch - First impressions excellent - well sourced and well aged meet on display and excellent service and atmosphere. I ordered texas steak (maybe wrong but think was ribeye) Medium and my friend ordered a rare Filet Mignon. Turkish bread with garlic mayo dip was a very nice surprise. Then the main event - I was so looking forward to it but was vastly disappointed. This place has a huge reputation for having the best steaks in the city. The texas steak came out and looked like it has been sliced several times to check the cooking but although fully flavoured piece of meat was best well done at worst very well done. However the Filet came out like a sandwich steak thin , flattened and at best medium well at worst well done. When you are a specialist steak house the least you can expect for your premium price is it it cooked correctly. The peppercorn sauce was average and the demi glas looked at tasted like bisto without any seasoning. The fries were nice. even the waitress looked embarrassed. TBH she did offer to take them back but due to time restraints we had to go. £67.00 for 2 steaks and 2 pints was extortionate. I dont mind paying for quality but the farmers and butchers have invested time and effort to provide a quality ingredient only for it to be ruined by incompetent chefs who only have one job to do is cook it correctly - they were more interested in preening themselves and looking at the young female customers. I would suggest around the corner to 51 Mill lane where the food is reasonable tasty and not overpriced

Just come away from the restaurant and wanted to say the food was amazing and the staff were very friendly. The lemon cheesecake wasnt ready....so we will have to go back very soon.

Visited here after seeing so many good reviews for the restaurant and it has well and truly lived up to them, amazing food, my Lokum steak was one of the nicest steaks I’ve had in a very long time, the mrs loved the Texan steak also. The staff were attentive and all very nice warm people, will definitely be returning soon.

Seemed overrated Ordered the Texan sirloin medium rare, came like it’d done a stint in Death Valley (Well Done). Would have preferred a milk steak. To further my displeasure, the potatoes that were supposed to come with the meal were absent. I did order chips as extra so they made an assumption I didn’t want the potatoes, never assume, as David Brent would say “it makes an ‘ass’ of ‘u’ and ‘me’”Wine was decent.

Had the most amazing meal at Macello Meathouse. The steaks were absolutely delicious and well worth the trip. However the goats cheese starter and cheesecake easily lived up to the reputation for the steak. Every course was served looking perfect by kind and attentive staff. Service was tremendous. We will definitely be visiting again soon

I dont ever leave reviews but felt the need to after visiting the west derby restaurant. This is probably the most over priced restaurant I have ever been to, spent £81 for a bottle of wine 2 starters and 2 mains and it was all average. I felt like it probably cost £15 (including the wine) to make. I left feeling ripped off. There is better more reasonably priced restaurants in west derby village if you are visiting.

Amazing food plus amazing staff who were very prompt and attentive. Staff are very friendly and we’re quite willing to answer any questions I had about the menu. Would recommend marcellos due to the amazing food and amazing staff!!!!

First time visiting Macello meathouse an I couldn't fault anything about this restaurant, staff where extremly friendly the manager constantly checking up on us to see if we needed more drinks etc, the food was out of this world!!! went to the new branch opended in the village, looking at reviews for the Childwall branch thought we was in for a treat.....what a disappointing experience. Over priced and over exaggerated menu, description of dishes sounds mouth watering however didn't meet expectations based on this and price. We don't eat in cheap restaurants but while the decor and surroundings high highly rated the dishes are just Meh and portions sizes too little,.. 4 strips of asparagus as an extra side to go with matcing small portion of shredded beef which lacked in presentation and taste!Staff,lovely but too many of them in my opinion, so much so that a full to capacity restaurant with all them staff resulted in pressure on the kitchen to produce orders in a timely manner, just couldn't cope. Excess staff hanging about with nothing to do,the balance was all off.Left hungry,disappointed and although bill was reduced still skint.

Booked this after seeing the reviews and im so glad i did! The restaurant is only small but it adds to the ambience... The ribeye steak was beautiful an the merlot.... we will def be back for the tomahawk! The staff were so lovely offering advice on steaks.... thankyou

First visit to Macello and won’t be the last. Texan steak was perfectly cooked as was the ribeye. The staff were courteous, friendly and knowledgeable, especially the manager Lisa who was the perfect hostess.

Can't rate this restaurant any higher, the food is absolutely delicious and cooked exactly to your liking. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about what is on the menu. If steaks are your thing then you need to get down and give Macello a try. You won't be disappointed.

This was our first time here and we were not disappointed. We had the Ribeye steak and it was cooked to perfection. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful we will definitely be going again.

First timers to Macello and certainly will not be our last visit. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly owner and shown swiftly to our table, although small inside it was cosy and snug with a lovely chilled out atmosphere. We did not wait long before our drinks order was taken and served by the lovely and friendly waitress. Bread and dips were automatically served which were delicious, after polishing off all the bread I vowed to devour the rest of the dips with the skin on fries I planned to order with our mains and boy was it a good idea. Our food order was taken and we waited no more than 15 minutes for the dishes to be served up. We ordered two different types of steak with sides of fries and mushrooms. The sides are ample size for two to share and were delicious a good choice to accompany the perfectly cooked steaks we ordered with the delicious creamy covered potatoes. The steaks just melted in your mouth as a steak lover this was up there with one of the best I had tasted cooked to perfection. A lovely experience all round from the friendly and welcoming staff, to the cosy interior/décor to the “to die for” food. Get yourselves there folks you won’t be disappointed.

I booked a week in advance online to which I received an email stating the following:Notice: Please be aware your booking has not been confirmed yet. One of our team members will contact you to confirm your booking. I never received an email or phone call in regards to my booking so decided to call the establishment up to check on my reservation before we made our way down. I tried to call 3 times but no one picked up and on the 4th attempt I got through; she explained that I was not booked in and due to the volume of customers they were unable to contact customers individually to tell them their booking was unsuccessful??!! I personally feel this is awful customer service that the restaurant can’t even call or email me to tell us they had no tables available. I was looking forward to this meal to celebrate our anniversary and was left trying to find somewhere else to go at very short notice! You need to adjust your booking system and not let people submit their bookings if there is no room left. At the very least, a simple email that would take 5 seconds to inform people their booking was unsuccessful would be expected so that other arrangements could be made surely is not too much to ask?! Understandably, restaurants are under more strain due to the eat out to help out scheme but the restaurant should not accept bookings they cannot cater for. I would suggest you to change your notice to state that no reply or contact from your team would mean you are fully booked and thus the booking is void rather then let the customer wait until their reservation is due to find out they have no table.

The food here is excellent, one of the best steaks I've ever had, only ever matched by ones I've had in Argentina (the home of steak). The service is amazing as well, all the staff are very attentive and the manager Lisa came over to chat with us for a bit. Will most definitely be returning

Was looking forward to eating here after reading the reviews. May have been a bad day for the chef, but I can’t give this a good review as the food was barely warm. The sharing starter was mostly cold. I asked the waiter and he said it was supposed to be hot. To his credit he quickly replaced it. But the main meal was the same. The potatoes we gave straight to our 12 month old, they didn’t require blowing to cool. We ordered steak and my partners was rare even tho she requested medium. We had to ask twice for a child seat we wasn’t offered one. There’s more but I’ll leave it there. Such a shame.

Can I give it 6 stars?Went for a meal with my two meat loving sons. Had the seafood platter for starters, and the octopus was outstanding For mains we had wagyu and Texan. The quality was absolutely fantastic! Staff and owner made the evening a real treat, and we will be visiting again for sure.Thank you Macello!

Food is absolutely outstanding!! quite a small venue but lovely atmosphere and really friendly service!! Wagu sirloin was 1st class and L'okum fillet almost as good...A special mention for the desert. I am not a desert guy but this multi layer pastry with nuts and caramel which i am ashamed i forgot the name of was the best i have ever had!!! well done to the lady who makes them she is a very talented pastry chef!!!

Lovely place, good food and waiting time. However, we made a booking and as we arrived, it was filled and we had to wait for 10 minutes awkwardly by the doors as there wasn’t much space to wait. You would think they’d have a table ready at least but no table was free, waited for it to cleaned and the people to leave.

Such stunning food!! Lovely, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Lovely and friendly staff! I had the fillet mignon and my husband had the Locum, both absolutely stunning, and the creamy potatoes were gorgeous too. I recommend the side of veg to share! Thank you for a beautiful evening! We’ll be back!

Booked Marcello’s for our anniversary as we love steakhouses and live local. Staff were friendly. Both ordered a fillet steak which were unfortunately overcooked. They were replaced and were then fine. Our main issue is that we ordered two bottles of wine, one each to have a relaxing night. After finishing our dessert, we sat to enjoy our wine. As it was a Saturday, the restaurant was busy. There were couples waiting outside, clearly upset that we were sat with wine and no food. A member of staff came over and said “can we give you your bill?” (we had only been there for around an hour and twenty minutes)!!! With still plenty of wine left we weren’t happy and felt like we had to leave. We weren’t told about any time restrictions and felt really uncomfortable. The owner kindly knocked a bottle of wine off the bill. Unfortunately the experience spoilt the night.

Went post lockdown, the social distancing was brilliant considering it’s a small place. Service was brilliant and food was perfect. Staff are extremely friendly. We’ve been around 4 times and each time has been brilliant with absolutely no faults

Me and my friend came here for the first time and it was honestly the most welcoming place, Lisa who looked after us was amazing and even sat down and had a chat with us which we really enjoyed, she’s an absolute queen and cannot wait to come back and see her and the rest of the team, thank you so much for a gorgeous night! After quite a few visits, we are definitely huge fans of this restaurant! The fillet mignon is amazing! We ordered food over the weekend to be delivered and had the food within half an hour! We had steak burgers and the chicken teriyaki. For a place that is known and loved for it's steaks, I feel the chicken teriyaki needs a special mention - it is incredible! We will be ordering again very soon!

I was recommended this restaurant by a friend who recently moved to Liverpool and I was amazed by the quality of the whole experience. Food was superb, service attentive and friendly and drinks options were great.If you are visiting Liverpool you need to try it!

I took my partner for his birthday as we’ve wanted to try for a while.Restaurant itself is small but ideal for a date night. Very busy too. Drinks options are ok. I stuck with red wine which was nice.We got the mix platter for starter so we could try a few items. We were not impressed. All three items had sauce over them and because they were all on the same plate the sauce started mixing together. The dishes themselves were ok but nothing special. For our mains we both got steak and both were delicious however the weird potato thing on the side was not good. We had asked if we could swap them for chips when ordering however I’m not sure if the waiter understood as he said no but the table next to us (served by someone else) were allowed to swap there’s. We got asparagus on the side which was gorgeous too.Unfortunately service was not great. My glass was empty the whole of the main meal and I was unable to get anyone’s attention. When we asked for the bill we waited 15 mins before we gave up and went to the counter to pay.Although it wasn’t the greatest of visits we will go back and know to skip the starter and insist on chips with our steak and asparagus. As the steak was delicious.

I would completely recommend this place the steak it’s absolutely delicious and well worth the money, me and my boyfriend order a fillet and a sirloin steak and both were cooked perfectly, would highly recommended the Nutella cheesecake for dessert also will definitely be returning soon !

hadde lest om denne restauranten . Det var ca 15 min i Taxi fra sentrum. Det var et godt valg. Servitøren. En hyggelig dame fra Romania tok vel i mot oss. Vi spiste forskjellige biffer. jeg spiste chillimarinert. Alt var aldeles nydelig. biffene var stekt perfekt alle sammen. vinene var nydelige. Dette er et sted som mange Liverpoolspillere spiser på. Skjønner dem godt. skal tilbake ved neste anledning. Macello var en veldig hyggelig mann som hadde full kontroll på både restaurant og kjøkken. glimrende.

Wanted to try here for ages. It was nice, hut not the best. The peppercorn sauce had so many full peppercorns in, personally id perfer them crushed. Fillet steak was nice, but had better.
