Lynns in Ards

The food is great but it was very bad service, it took them 30 minutes to hand out the food, they made a mistake with my order and I sent it back, they took 8 minutes to bring it back, they then blamed it on their new cashier on their own laziness!

Take out. Takes ages and ages. For no reason, no excuses re freshly cooked etc, just whenever been always sitting there for an age! As for the fish, chips. Fish is ok. Batter is ok. The chips are very boring. They are ..ok...but seem to be fried x2 or x3 - thats not the way its done. It makes them very tasteless. Each to their own of course, and personally a nice crispy chip is great, equally, a nice squishy chip, even floppy and a little mushy piled high, loaded up with salt/vinegar is nice - more tasty. Over-fried makes them a little hard and tasteless imho. Been there a fair few times, and always ok..but now with this long waiting time ( and no queues to speak of ) just seems poor service so, wont be back.

This is my third time ordering from Lynn's fish and chip shop and it did not disappoint. I have tried the chicken fillet burgers, gravy chip, chicken curry chip and onion rings, all were absolutely delicious. Great service and friendly staff, would highly recommend and we will be back!!

Had a delivery last night. Food was horrible over cooked. Had to be put in the bin what a disappointment. Chicken fillets tasted like they’d been reheated 3 times Avoid

very poor portion of meat on kebab,there is a few bits of thin meat,cut into like matchsticks,never,never seen kebab meat cut like this,didnt know the cut of meat either,it could have been donkey or horse ,some lettuce and 3bits of tomato,chips,and the sauco over powered everything as i think they used to much chilli,never again,if you want a kebab go to a proper kebab takeaway,service poor,and over priced as well,wont be back,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Family run business, friendly staff, good range on menu. Food cooked to order. Great for sitting in or takeaway. Never had a bad meal.

Very disappointed tonight. Asked for a small fish supper to be delivered to mypensioner husband as I was in hospital but even being willing to pay for delivery because it was under £8 They wouldn't deliver. They did deliver the same last week so why the change. Just lost a weekly customer.

First time to sit in but will certainly be back. Good service and first class meals. The fish and chips were outstanding as were the rest of the meals. Had to wait a few minutes whilst everything was freshly cooked but well worth it.

Over cooked chicken burger, ask for it to be replaced and once again it was over cooked .... when mentioned to staff again, the response was terrible. apparently that’s how chicken burgers are cooked and that I should have ordered the goujons. More disappointed with how it was dealt with. Better chip shops in the area!

We always eat here . The staff are lovely and the place clean.. On the last two occasions the fish has been overdone making the batter hard and crispy and the fish dry.. Could you rectify this please...

I have been getting my monthly fish n chips treat here for years. great quality, portions and flavour.

The service is quick, the staff are friendly but the food is not up to scratch. Nothing worse that eating chips that are forever being reheated. Burger meat is not nice at all.

Visited yesterday with my young family, as always the food was hot, fresh and delicious. The service was warm and friendly, and the meals themselves excellent value for money. I'd highly recommend the Ulster fry which includes 2 sausages,2 bacon,egg, potato bread, delicious dipped soda and even a handful of chips, comes complete with a pot of tea for a fiver. Truly good value! If you're looking for a traditional chippy, with genuinely nice service...clean eating environment and value for money, this little gem in newtownards is the place to be A happy customer from Lisburn

We have been regular customers of this restaurant for many years. In this time we have had a few disappointing meals but generally the quality has been good However as in the prev couple of reviews from start of october onwards the meals served up have been very disappointing. very greasy and soggy batter on the fish and the chips do no taste freshly made!! shame as it was always a treat to eat out here but at the moment I will be taking a break to see if things improve any. only good point is the friendly welcoming staff serving the food! so come on go back to the old days - lovely dry crispy fresh food.

Called on to collect some food quickly. As always was met with a smile and pleasant chat. Quickly prepared quality food without fuss. Highly recommended

As in Scotland, Mains are served with a few chips. The amount varies from Chippy to Chippy however ynns has to be the meanest I have seen FOUR chips yes just FOUR chips (certainly not a great deal to write home about!).

It saddens me that after many years of supporting Lynns and travelling a 16 mile round trip to collect takeouts, that 2 weeks in a row on a Tuesday evening the fare has been very disappointing. The chips, in particular, are reheated, with almost no potato content left amidst the coating, and many many ends. Last week the ordered peppered burger , with fried onions, cheese and bacon, was found when getting home to consist of burger meat alone in its box ie no onions, no cheese, no bacon. My suspicion was that the three young staff serving were more interested in exchanging witty banter with each other than keeping track of what they were doing. I rang immediately, and was given an apology, and a promise that the next time I was in this would be rectified. So Tonight I returned with the same order and told the server the story. Astonishment from him that this had happened, but no offer of recompense, and I was charged the full amount for the same order tonight. And then the dodgy chips...............

It's a wee bit expensive but one of the best chippys I've gone to. Best fish supper in newtownards for a fact

To be honest I have never had one this long before and no complaints here. Two and a half quid and extremely tasty indeed!

En la última ocasión mi compañero y yo estábamos aquí (Viernes 28 de abril) fue muy concurrido y de abajo arriba en las primeras horas de la noche. Un camarero muy agradable joven parecía estar corriendo en su propia, y aunque estaba muy ocupado nos saludó, nos dio los menús tomó nuestra orden y sirve a todos con una sonrisa, no tomar el nombre de los camareros, pero creo que hizo la visita, felicitaciones!

Una tradicional familiar 'chippy" sirve comida bien cocinada, para llevar y en su restaurante. Haddock es realmente recomendable. Grandes porciones, personal amable, y un precio razonable. Altamente recomendado

this is a great chippy with lots variety also very good food ive never had a bad meal in lynns yet it caters for young and old alike definatly a great place to go for a casual lunch or tea

I go here every Friday evening for a takeaway. This Friday the food was cold so I foned to complain. The girl was very nice about it and told me to return the meal and it would be replaced. I did this and the new meal was not much better. We were too hungry to complain this time but we will be going to another chippy from now on. I am disappointed in Lynn's.

Lynns has been a key part of Newtownards for many years now and even though I haven't been as much as I would have liked, I can safely say that both the sitting in and taking out options offered are very good. The only downside is that there aren't a massive number of tables, but that may well have been sorted.

Lynns has good honest and wholesome food for any night of the week. Their pasties and fish suppers are wholesome.

Firstly,, for a guy, I felt this was not a place for my guy nor for a chip where I would have been comfortable walking into.. Not only where they lacking value for money, but it had feeling this was worked by women for women since not one bloke could be seen working there. On top of their cheap chip quantity,, I could literally count the chips for the price of over 2 bloody quid. Will now tell everyone thinking of a chip, avoid the one at the end of the road called cheap a-s Lynn's.

Let's be honest here, it's a chip shop it isn't fine dining. So you would at least expect to get chips when you order a chip!? Well you would think - small chip had 17 chips......count them 17! For £2.20! Sad.Won't waste my money, there are far better in Newtownards.

While a handy spot to stop at the food can be a little greasy at times. One or two staff not friendly. However for what it is it's okay.

Our American friends wanted to try a local fish and chips so I checked T.A and saw that this one had some very good 5* reviews. Boy was that wrong. None of us liked what we got. The chips looked and tasted less than fresh and the fish was very over cooked like it had been heated one or two times before. First visit, last visit.

We go on several holidays a year and if Lynn's is open we always stop off there for a feed. The portions are good but they are trying to hard to be upmarket, I tried their Honey Chilli Chicken last night, OMG it burnt the bake off me and they had poured the sauce all over my chips so they were all ruined. My husband had a Fish Supper with Mushy Peas, he said the fish wasn't at all nice and the peas were disappointing, he has finally agreed with me that we'll find somewhere else for future.

Great fish and chips.my daughter loves the chicken fillet burgers.good value for money.the staff are always very helpful and friendly.

Great Place, great food and great staff. All food is fresh and cooked to order, well worth the visit. Chips are chipped and cooked from fresh. Sit in, take away, text orders and deliveries, What else is there to ask for.

Fantastic traditional.....sit in take away.....it's up to you.....cracking all day fry......homemade pasties and lots more.....they also deliver what more could you want.......long may they continue to serve us (the public)

Traditional it may be, but this is one of the fish and chip shops of choice for many a local. The food is all freshly fried, and while it may not do much for your waist-line, it's certainly tasty.

Although I have sat in and had meals in the past and found the service, and variety of food excellent and with fair prices we decided to see if their delivery was up to par. I placed an order for 19 Fish and chips to be delivered about 750 yards/ metres away and asked for a prompt 8.30 delivery time when I ordered at 7.00pm. At 830 sharp the above order arrived. Was met by friendly staff who carried our order in. May I say it was blowing a gale and raining. All our food was in 2 boxes and each order was individually boxed as well. After handing out the fish and chips to everyone. They all stated that their food was piping hot tasty and no grease. This is the 3rd or rth time we have used lynn's and their standard have always been high even if you sit in the resturant. It is definitely a family and friendly resturant. Keep up the good work

So many times I have eaten from this establishment and I have Never been disappointed. Handcut chips done on the premises, which are cooked to perfection each time, the fish is beautifully made to order as is eveything else. To anyone who likes loves a chippy, this place is for you!! Yum!!

This is by far the best chippy in newtownards, we got a family meal & it was beautiful... Will definitely be back on a family treat night

Sit in or take away. Lynn's offer a wide variety of food on the menu - I have never been disappointed. I have always got a 'good sized' helping. One particular member of 'behind the counter' staff is very attentive and pleasant, she has blonde hair. The food is excellent and this place is definitely worth a visit.

they do take away and sit in, phone and text ordering and even delivery. The food is always first class and the service to. Would recommend it as a top chip shop to use.

Don't take away, sit in, the difference is amazing. When you wrap fish and chips in paper you actually steam them and make them soggy so pull up a chair at a table and eat fish and chips as they should be eaten, bone dry and crispy on a plate, a cup of tea a slice of bread and butter, what more could you ask for ?. If your in the Ards area call in its worth a visit.

I have been here quite a few times and always found the food to be plentiful and tasty. worth a visit . fish is lovely and great size. kids meals are great and a steakette is a must.

One of the best chippys in county down! There haddock is supreme not greasy at all! Would recommend cheesy chip with garlic ;)

I get a takeaway about twice a month and I have never had a disappointing meal. Pasties are meaty and packed full of flavour.

lynns serves up great fish and chips! but it also make a variety of other meals too! it seems quite clean, decor could do with a little touching up but it definitly makes the best fish suppers in all of newtownards!

Good café food at low prices. Quick service and friendly staff. . The best value on this side of the street. Never disappointed any time we have eaten here.
