Lussmanns - Hertford in East Hertfordshire

Come here most Sundays. Sublime food and Tina runs the place brilliantly! Sam looked after us today and is also very friendly and professional! A wonderful lunch experience thank you 😊

Poor quality food and very overpriced Service poor despite the restaurant being half full. Steak was tough and flavourless. I think the cow must have given up!!

A group of 22 of us went to Lussmans for lunch. We pre ordered a main and dessert each. Everyone was warmly welcomed upon arrival. The tables were laid really nicely and everything spotlessly clean. Our main waiter was Raphy (Raphael) and we cannot praise him enough. He instantly ensured everyone had drinks and throughout he was polite, professional and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The food all came out together (pretty impressive with such a large group). It all looked and tasted fabulous. Clean plates all round! I personally had a very scrumptious fish cake with poached egg and a side of veg. It was perfection. My Bramley apple cheesecake was really light and delicious and a good size portion. I also had a very nice fresh mint tea (plenty of very fresh mint leaves). Thank you to all of the staff who made our lunch gatehring perfect.

Lussmanns is without doubt the best place to eat in Hertford. The food is consistently good and the seasonal menu is well crafted. I cannot fault the service which is attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant itself is a lovely place to be. I actually can’t fault it. 10/10 from me.

Had dinner here with family to celebrate a birthday. We were warmly welcomed and given a choice of tables. Waiter was fabulous, very attentive and efficient. We just ordered mains, they are now serving the autumn menu. There were 5 of us and we had 3 steaks, chicken and the fish cake. We also had some sides including frites and seasonal veg. We were all delighted with our food, very tasty and well presented. They kindly gave a birthday treat too. The ambiance is lovely and just the right amount of busy for a Friday. Lussmans is a perfect venue for a special occasion. Thank you for a wonderful evening. We will most definitely be returning.

Nice ambiance of place , pleasantly surprised as we walked in to have tea . Good Gluten free option so end up having mains and desserts as well. Service was excellent.

Just was very unimpressed with the food , atmosphere was good , service was nice ,not very informative though, just couldn't believe how poor the food was ,more so the portion sizes and choices.

We had a ‘ladies who lunch’ day out in Hertford today and chose from the lunchtime menu of two courses for £19.50. Two had Minute steak which was supposed to be medium rare but was pretty well done and rather chewy. Another had linguine which was okay but nothing special. I chose the fish with seasonal vegetables and received a very small portion which didn’t include potatoes. I found it disappointing. The desserts were quite nice and the service was reasonable but 12.5% was added which I really dislike because tips should be optional. It’s okay, just nothing special

This was the second time three of us have had a lovely lunch at the Hertford Lussmans. The staff were very welcoming. We had the Set 3 course Menu which was good value and a glass of wine each. A carafe of water is always provided on the table at any Lussmans restaurant. Our Starters were Sussex Ham Hock Terrine and Chicory Salad and our Mains were Free-range Chicken Chasseur, Whole Cornish Sole and Steak Frites with a side of Vegetables. Our Desserts were Bramley Apple Crumble and Chocolate Mousse. All delicious! The Restaurant is very pleasant and has a good atmosphere.

The food here is consistent and spot on. I had the feather blade of beef and the sweet & bitter orange brûlée. Service was top class and we couldn't fault anything with our visit. Will return again very soon.

We walked in off the street on a Saturday night and were lucky to get a table. We loved our evening at Lussmanns, what a treat! This restaurant has an extensive wine list and drinks menu. It also offers a good selection of non alcoholic beverages. The food is superb, we really enjoyed everything we had. The staff were all fantastic. Really professional and happy. Everyone working there just seemed very happy. There was a lovely atmosphere. The decor and lighting was also very nice. Highly recommend. 👍

Came here with my partner for lunch. The younger male member of staff was excellent - attentive and helpful. The older female member of staff who I assume is the manager (?) was very rude and abrupt. We had been waiting 25 mins for our food (it was not busy at all …) and politely asked if we could have an update. She nodded and walked off, then proceeded to ignore us for several minutes (despite walking past our table frequently). Eventually she told us it would be 5 more minutes as it’s a 30 minute wait time if you only order mains. This is absolutely fine but this should have been said at the start of the meal. Good food when it came however.

Really nice sustainably sourced menu. Fresh ingredients and some great dishes. The staff were great super friendly and amazing service. Best allergy menu for a restaurant I’ve seen. My wife&#039;s meal was better than mine. I had Oxtail croquets which were quite nice but didn&#039;t have the intense flavour one normally associates with Oxtail. It was also a bit &#039;claggy&#039;. <br /><br />For my main I had the smoked haddock rarebit which was very good but the cheese was slightly lost amid smokiness of the haddock. It was a good plate of food, but my wife&#039;s fishcake was better.<br /><br />Service was good but not outstanding. Do these young people actually get taught how to wait at table? The young waitress who greeted us and supplied drinks was great, but those delivering our food tried serving it by reaching across from the other side of the table. The guy delivering our starter didn&#039;t seem to know what he was serving, leaving us to identify it.<br /><br />I&#039;ve been to Lussmanns several times both as lead and as a guest of friends and I think this was probably the worst visit, although still very good.<br /><br />The noice level was acceptable although we left at just the right time as a rather loud party had just arrived on the table next to ours.

There was a lot of hidden cost that we was not made aware of,<br />There was a rush to get us out so they could get another table in,<br />I was meeting with friends that I had not seen in over 6 months due to covid it was a shame it was cut short. <br />When the bill come we was very confused about the amount we needed to pay ( not that it was a problem) but as I have said there was hidden costs that we was not made aware of in way and when we questioned this we was basically told we should have been told and that it is in small print on the back of the menus which is understandable but if your advertising a set menu it should be stated at the bottom. <br />Other then the rush to get us out the food being over priced , <br />me and my friends had a lovely time ( not because of where we was may I add)

We tried the early evening 2 or 3 course menu. Our rarebit was splendid looking and tasting better than its description. My dessert was a beautifully poached pear with vegan chocolate ice cream. The house wine was good and we were impressed by the beers and ciders on offer.

An early Friday evening for a quiet dinner provided everything we were expecting. The staff are welcoming, amiable and thoughtful about the personal touch - knowing when to engage and when to leave you alone. The food was superb and the pace of the evening was just right with a decent hubbub of other diners enjoying their time in the restaurant. And if a place is to have music playing in the background you won&#039;t find a better selection in keeping the evening relaxed but lively.

A pleasant evening to celebrate a recent promotion. <br />Food was pleasant as were the drinks. <br />Unfortunately it was near-impossible to get our bill towards the end as we couldn’t get anyone’s attention, at least 3 or 4 staff members walked past us on multiple occasions and we couldn’t flag any of them down, despite many efforts trying, which somewhat took the shine off the evening, but all in all, a nice evening out. <br />Would be nice if the menu had some kind of basic bread and oil/butter starters also.

Staff BRILLIANT although the side orders came about 5 minutes after main courses delivered so I&#039;d ask them to bring all out together next time. Was a long wait between meals and wanting the bill but was nice food, portions where not massive our children could eat off the main menu and finish the meal but was happy to have the space for dessert which was also nice, but again restricted. <br />Limited options of fresh food overall was nice but a few other options especially on sides. maybe not everything works well together. In total we were there for 2.5hours for a main and a dessert.
