Luigi's Restaurant in South Lakeland

A last minute booking in Ambleside that did not disappoint. Prices were very reasonable and the food was delicious. If we were to stay in the area again we would most certainly return. Our waitress was fabulous and very attentive during our visit.

We were visiting Ambleside for a few days and wanted a dog friendly restaurant, we found this place online . We were seated downstairs in the dog friendly area , it was lovely , with a very nice fire , and when we were seated , a blanket was brought out for Labrador to sit lie on , a really nice touch . Food was delicious and really well priced, very large portions . A special mention to Charlie our waiter , what an absolute asset to the restaurant he is , he was lovely and polite but so lovely to our dog too , we found out his Mum works in the restaurant too ( Mum if you read this , he’s an absolute credit to you ) . Good luck with the Rugby Charlie and keep up the good work in the restaurant. ( and good luck with your exams ) We will certainly return .

Great little family run italian restaurant. The food was jomely but excellent, and the chef accommodated a dairy free diner too which was very much appreciated. The waitress was 1st class, friendly and helpful. Thank you for a very nice evening, and for making it into work through the snow.

Quite a basic restaurant inside with limited ambience. Could definitely do with sprucing up, as the place isn't particularly cosy or inviting. I first visited over 10 years ago and nothing at all has changed. Service was welcoming and friendly, especially the manageress who was lovely. Menu is limited to pasta and a few other main dishes. Pizzas are not on the menu. Food is 'ok'. Bruscetta is made from what looked liked supermarket baguettes sliced up and toasted. Pasta dishes are tasty but nothing out of the ordinary and I could probably make similar myself at home. There is nothing bad about this restaurant, but it doesn't have the wow factor either. Not sure I get what all the fuss is about. Probably wouldn't rush back when there are other Italian restaurants in the area to choose from.

5 star delicious, welcoming, wonderful restaurant. The staff are unbelievably friendly and welcoming. The food is fantastic value for money and very nice indeed.

As soon as we arrived staff were very friendly and accommodating, all the food we ordered was really nice including the dessert. Would recommend if you are looking to eat in Ambleside.

Popped in on chance that we would be able to get a table. Amazing food in a sweet little restaurant, lovely fire and amazing service. We had 2 courses and one wine and a lemonade for £45!

Lovely place, made to feel very welcome. Service, food and house wine perfect. I had penne arabiatta and my husband had the lasagne. Both delicious and fresh but if you have a big appetite I would add a side with the lasagne but more than enough penne. Wiil definitely return on our next vist to Ambleside.

A lovely find, the staff couldn’t be more accommodating, even for a fussy eater, the food was absolutely delicious and fresh.

Having discovered Luigi's on a previous holiday in Ambleside, I am happy to say on my latest visit on Saturday that it is still my favourite Italian, nice and cosy, great food and wonderful, attentive but not intrusive service by the young team. Great value, highly recommended.

What a fabulous restaurant with the most delightful service. We sat downstairs in front of a fabulous fire. Whilst the weather was great in October, a fire is always welcome at night. Our food was delicious: spaghetti with a spicy tomato sauce and puttanesca with olives/capers, salty and tasty, we shared a garlic bread with cheese, a perfect portion to share. Washed down by a couple of glasses of good wine, what’s not to love. For me this was a joint first for the best meal and service during our week in Ambleside.

What a find this place is. Independent restaurant offering authentic Italian food. We had an excellent meal, everything prepared freshly to order. Service was outstanding. Strongly recommended

We have just enjoyed a relaxing meal at Luigi’s, after a day in the Lakes. A very welcoming staff. The early bird menu from 6pm to 7pm is very good value. A nice ambiance, and dogs made welcome downstairs. I would recommend booking, as it’s a popular restaurant. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Ambleside.

Tuesday evening with our dog, had a very nice meal. Not sure if other reviewers went to the same place or have very high standards (garlic at an Italian - wow!). We were very pleased with the service towards us and our dog. Risotto was spot on and pasta with bacon and chilli was delicious. Wine was well priced and good quality, espresso martini to finish was well received. All in all, a very good meal in a pleasant environment.

Unforgettable, because the following morning all you can taste is a horrible garlic taste. Both my wife and I felt terrible with wife sick multiple times and me hoping to be before we set off home on a 2 hour car drive. How can you mess up pasta? Quite possibly microwave meals as the salmon was this tiny small rectangular cubes. So bad and this restaurant is letting down Ambleside.

lovely little welcoming place. not noisy, down to earth; nice ambience with good happy music. we had bruschetta, garlic bread, lasagne and the seafood pasta. We were very pleased with the food. There is a great value happy hour menu with good sized portions and the service was speedy. We had a lovely waitress (not sure the name sorry, but was wearing glasses). I am quite picky on where we sit and we were allowed to change tables with no fuss at all. Free parking outside after 6. Overall really recommend :)

Lovely food - make sure you book prior to visiting! We had a good selection from the menu and gluten free was catered for. Good portion sizes at reasonable cost. Whilst the table service was good we found the service a little slow, understandable given the almost full restaurant. Nice little eatery

Fabulous little place. Luckily we had booked , as they were turning people away all evening, as fully booked - on a Tuesday night ! Excellent early bird offer of 3 courses for £20. I had Bruscetta, followed by Tagliatelle Gamberi, then Tiramisu. Also the house white wine. All good sized portions and we really enjoyed them meal. Friendly staff too.
