If you are visiting York definitely should go to Love Cheese! The toasties are mouth-wateringly scrumptious!

Love Cheese hosted our Christmas party this year and they were absolutely fantastic. So accommodating, very responsive to emails, and extremely welcoming and friendly. All the staff are just incredible. Nothing was too much trouble! Thank you for making our Christmas party extra special. Would recommend to anyone!

Visited this little gem today. Service and food fantastic. Waitress was fabulous and even went out of her way to help us find the outlet shopping centre and going so far as to find out the bus times! A truly wonderful experience, we will be back.

I knew I liked cheese but this place has made me love cheese. The staff definitely know their stuff alongside providing a great service. My daughter also thinks the cheese toastie was the best she has ever had (teenager who normally moans about everything). I can’t wait to go back.

Absolutely amazing!!! Did the 5 course cheese and wine tasting and it was incredible. Some of the best cheese we have ever had!! They made us feel so welcome and was such a lovely atmosphere. Could not recommend more!!!!

We had an amazing experience here for a company away day. We were able to book a private cheese and wine tasting in the "Secret Garden" hosted by the wonderful Jordan and Josh who were so knowledgeable and passionate about all the products we were trying. Our team thoroughly enjoyed their time and will definitely return if we're ever in York again!

Amazing! Arrived here for Brunch after booking (advised as this little Gem gets busy). We ordered 3 cheese sharing board with breads snd we weren't disappointed. Simply choose your style of cheese and a'voila... Minutes later, mouthwatering goodness encroached our palette and believe me, it didn't disappoint! You get generous servings of cheese (we only chose 3 and we were full!....) ❤️ truly happy we found this hidden Gem. We will 100 % be back. Great business, service, pricing and experience. A hidden delight just outside of York's walls. Lovely atmosphere, excellent service and fantastic lunch with high quality and delicious cheeses (loved the local crumbly cheese and the Spanish brie-style smelly!). Go with an empty tummy!

Amazing lunch. Knowledgeable, helpful staff. Nice small eating area, the Speakcheesy. Cheese platters were generous and plenty of crackers. Cheese toasty was to die for. Bought some of our favourites from the deli to take home. It's easy to miss on the busy high street, but it's a hidden gem. Highly recommend and will be back to try out the small garden area. Dog friendly.

Love this Love Cheese! We got the afternoon cheese in the indoor dining area, Speakcheesy. Amazing and helpful service, great value for the afternoon cheese, and a pleasant place to stay and relax. Highly recommend if you're in York!

Fabulous gem of a place just outside the York walls. A really well stocked deli - try the balsamic pickles - they’re amazing, loads of different cheeses to choose from plus a great selection of wines and accompaniments. We were eating in the Speakcheesy which is hidden through a doorway behind and is a lovely , cosy space. We treated ourselves to a Christmas Special which featured 3 pork pies, a goats cheese salad, pickles, cornichons, 3 types of continental meats, 5 large portions of cheese, crackers & bread & butter plus 2 glasses of wine - so much food & very reasonably priced! We did add the balsamic picked onions to our table as they’re too good to miss. Really can’t recommend this lovely place enough.

I came across the cheese and wine tasting evening by chance. I liked that we were all served and talked to as individual groups, not lumped together. The cheeses and wines were carefully paired with attention paid to what order they were served in. It was clear that the owner is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his business. A great evening.

A lovely cheeeese shop, Grommet! Well worth a visit if you are a bit (or a lot) of a cheesie mousie. Good selection of cheeses, wines, pickles and biscuits. Good little emporium who do food hampers too. It has a wonderful little café to the rear, who knew?! Called The Speakcheesey. Serves light bites, cheeseboards, toasties and pizzas. Also has a charming little courtyard garden to the rear, with a glimpse of York's renowned Walls through the trees. I had a pot of green tea and some Puttanesea olives with a triple cheese toastie. It came delightfully presented pon a slate with salad and great yummy crisps (Tyrells). The toastie had layers of Cheddar, Red Leicester and Mozarella, along with red onion marmalade, all served in a Haxby Bakehouse Sourdough. It was really good. Would recommend and would revisit. Oh, and good service too from the young gentleman. Thank you.

A shop perfectly named for cheese lovers! The Triple Cheese toastie was a piece of oozey, gooey heaven, the venison salami pizza an absolute delight and not so big that you feel a bloated regret after devouring. The staff were very friendly and informative when picking some cheese to go from the deli.

Words cannot describe the experience we had here! We started off with the most incredible grilled cheese we have ever had. The cheese selection was extradinary and the perfection of the toasted bread they used is beyond anything I have ever had. And yes I am cheese addict and I am raving about this place! I have had plenty of cheese platter and grilled cheese experiences but nothing beats this experience! Harry was so kind and while we were eating our grilled cheese he brought us a sample of 4 cheeses with some chutney. Oh my goodness what a treat!! We couldn't help but buy the cheeses he recomended to take home and he even explained the process of each one we tasted. This is the real deal guys do not go to York and not try this place. From now on this is a must for me. Heck I might just go to York just to eat here. Thanks for the incredible experience, Harry!!!

If it were possible to give more stars, I would. We booked an all you can eat and drink cheese and drinks night for my friend's hen do and the service was impeccable. Nothing was too much trouble. Dietary requirements all catered to - Jordan realised one of our party was a little concerned about soft cheeses as they are pregnant, so without us having to ask went and bought her a separate selection which had been stored separately to the soft cheese. Just one example of an evening full of going above and beyond. And the food and drink! Absolutely delicious, pickles, cheese after cheese, crackers, olives, pizzas - the list goes on. The owner obviously knows his stuff, this is a labour of love for him and this really shows. The Speakcheesy is also a lovely little private space - perfect for a party of 11. My friend said the massive cheese platter was her favourite part of her day, so a huge thank you to Love Cheese for making her day. If you're in York, there's nowhere I would recommend more highly.

We visited Love Cheese York whilst on a little getaway. We came here 4 years ago and loved it then.. Due to lockdown too much time has passed and we were excited for another visit. We ate in the cafe and had a selection of 5 cheeses as well at the Italian charcuterie all were amazing. So much so that we couldn't help but buy more to take home with us!

Oh my what a complete and utter delight of a shop! I could've stayed all day. Very helpful and friendly young man was knowledgeable about his products and was able to give concise but fascinating insights about ingredients, sources, history. Tried a few cheeses but loved Black Bomber. Had to try some fresh sourdough with an organic unpasteurised butter. Perfect combination of green meadow freshness with a sweet earthy melt. A must visit, must stay for coffee, must book a tasting.

Extremely knowledgeable on the cheese, nice little cafe area out the back and really enjoyed the experience.

Expected a delivery today only to find it was delivered to someone in Sevenoaks instead of York not happy as no one available to sort it out Problem resolved quickly and the cheese was delicious so amended the stars to 5.

We had a fantastic time at love cheese! Our host was both professional and friendly. He chose our wine and cheese perfectly despite us not being very much help. He has exceptional taste! We could have spent all evening there, and when we did leave we were excited that our expectations had been met. And all so reasonably priced! If you like cheese it is a must. Bon appetite!

I’ve done three online tastings with Love Cheese. Always a brilliant night. Would highly recommend the port and cheese tasting in particular.

We have enjoyed nine Love Cheese virtual tastings since lockdown one and finally made a pilgrimage to the shop itself and the Speakcheesey. We had a brilliant night and the staff were super friendly and helpful. They were excellent at thinking of cheeses that we might not have tried before, and that we might enjoy based on other cheeses we had enjoyed. We had a lovely selection of meats and wines alongside our cheeses, and it was a perfect relaxed evening in York. If Love Cheese ever open a franchise in Glasgow we will be regulars - until then, we will continue to enjoy their virtual tasting and online ordering services. Thank you for bringing us regular packages of joy during the pandemic, and we hope to make another visit to the shop before too long!

This is an absolute treasure of a place. Small but delicious menu with a gorgeous garden to sit in. Service was speedy even on a super busy Saturday. They have a lovely looking vegan pizza too which sounded lush.

Great cheese shop, got some great recommendations from the staff. Nice garden out the back to sit down and enjoy cheese, toasties and drinks.

We did a virtual tasting event for our company, and Elle went above and beyond to ensure all cheese & wine boxes met dietary requirements, were delivered to all countries and even through in some lovely freebie accompaniments! Harry's wine tasting was great fun, with all the team feeding back really positive comments - he was so knowledgeable! I think the Cornish Kern is now cemented firmly as my fav cheese ever! Their cheese toasties are a proper treat. This is before you get to their great selection of cheeses, sundries, wines and spirits. The virtual tasting is a must. Can't wait for our next one: cheese and port.

Had a lovely virtual wine and cheese evening with these guys - loved the Facebook Live vid, the guides were funny and lovely, and the pairings were excellent. We’re fortunate to be local to the shop and we’ve also bought some delicious wine from them too.

My wife and I recently did a virtual cheese and wine evening, I must admit I was very sceptical, but I did as my wife told me, we had a great evening, though we did go on to consume a couple more bottles of wine... it was good fun for lockdown date night... definately recommended.

Como tenía poco tiempo, decidí ir a la tarta de cerdo servida con una rebanada de Red Leicester y chutney, algo en lo que no pensaba pero que realmente funcionó.No puedo esperar a volver para probar una de las tablas de quesos.

Vi este lugar en Instagram en un blog británico de comida y pensé que se veía increíble. Así que mi amigo y yo fuimos a buscar un plato de queso y una copa de vino. Tuvimos un gran servicio y el precio fue realmente bueno para lo que obtuvimos. Es un café pequeño pero acogedor y tiene mucho espacio al aire libre en un buen día. Definitivamente volvería!

Delicious wine and the cheese selection (3 for £8) included the best Brie we’ve ever had and a starter blue that won best cheese in the world (in2013) - we really enjoyed ourselves and the service was fab!

The best toasties in York! Cosy and friendly with a knowledgable team who make everyone feel welcome and serve up top notch food. It was our first visit but it won't be our last!

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, amazing selection of cheeses and wines. Perfect place for gift hampers with lots of local options. The cafe is great too, the toasties are amazing. The coffee could be better though, slightly expensive and not as well done as other nearby cafe's, but I guess there main focus is the cheese and they know what they are doing there.

Went for wine and cheese experience. Nice wines and great cheese selection but really need to work on up sell, dining room, outside area and recommended wine cheese combination after this seems a total afterthought. Could easily improve rating with a little more attention. Rating is for dining in option. Wines and cheeses very good.

Love Cheese es una tienda de quesos muy fina en Gillygate, York, a 5 minutos de York Minster. Tienen una fabulosa selección de quesos locales, así como quesos hechos de leche de vaca, leche de oveja, queso de cabra, queso azul, queso duro, queso blando y queso Yorkshire. No se equivoquen Harry y su amable personal son serios y extremadamente conocedores de sus quesos. Compramos cinco o seis quesos que nos burlamos el fin de semana.También venden pan recién horneado localmente y tienen una excelente selección de vinos y un buen Prosecco. Lamentablemente, no pasamos el mostrador de queso, pero la próxima vez probaremos la pequeña cafetería.Vale la pena una visita!

Great selection of cheese, especially at xmas

We visited Love Cheese in April to buy a cheese cake for our wedding. We had a highly enjoyable cheese tasting session, comprising 20 cheeses and some fantastic wine - so fantastic that we ended up ordering it from Love Cheese for our wedding day too! Harry is extremely knowledgeable - he talked us through all of the cheeses and helped us pick out the perfect ones for our cake. He also provided pork pies, charcuterie, pickles and olives on the day. We were really happy with the quality of all the food and wine from Love Cheese and had lots of praise from our guests too. We will be definitely visiting Love Cheese when we're next back in York and will be recommending it to our friends and family in the meantime!
