Lotus House in Chichester

First time we’ve been in a while. Very disappointed. When we got home the chicken fried rice was an egg fried rice with about one piece of egg… the Cantonese chichen was some kind of pork … the beef Chow main was indeed beef Chow main but awful… whole meal was pretty greasy … not impressed

Ordered from lotus house after not having ordered there for quite some time and honestly we won't be ordering from here ever again! The chicken curry was like gloop so slimey and the chicken was coated in slime! The beef chow mein noodles were white and the beef was so chewy, no flavour whatsoever! The chips were cold and burnt. I could go on but the main point is it was a massive disappointment. I'm sorry but absolutely not worth the money we paid. Shocking!

Used to be much better but seems to gave gone down hill by a considerable amount in the last year .

Took an hour and a half for food to be delivered so was barely warm, and item missing from order. Only decent thing was they put the mistake right and delivered the missing item but poor customer service when phoning to query.

Absolutely disgusting don't order from here we spent £40 the meat was dodgy wasn't actually sure what it was my son has been vomiting etc for 48hrs I jus picked out the veg awful!!!!

I’ve used this place since I’ve come to Chichester as a student. Now in my third year and they’re still my favourite Chinese in the area! Fab good, quick service and nice people!

Absolutely delicious fantastic food and let's face it chips are from most Chinese place ok but they was great from here so was the rest of the meal couldn't fault it at all

Rubbish the prawn toast and chicken balls were over cook'd and curry sauce didn't even taste like curry sauce

Sorry to say but our set meal for three was pretty bad! The chicken balls and special fried rice were ok but everything else was tasteless, like it hadn’t seen any Chinese seasoning or even just salt. We were rather disappointed so there won’t be a repeat order from us I’m afraid.

Terrible only went there because lucky house was shut . Flavourless satay chicken don't think it had seen a nut , crispy beef hadn't seen a cow and there prawn crackers were stale.

Always wonderful food from here and fast service. The chilli squid has never been rubbery which is a prime indicator of a great chef

In need of a quick pre theatre bite we took a risk on this takeaway and we're very impressed with quality and freshness to the food we ordered. Good menu, easy ordering, short wait, nicely presented.

Went there on a Tuesday as the other decent ones were closed. Ordered a chicken curry, 2 chick chow mien, chicken balls and chicken Hong Kong style. I’ve got to say that that was the worse Chinese chicken curry I have ever had. It had no flavour and was very pale in colour. The chicken had a slimy feel and coating like they had just been removed from the chicken batter from the balls. The chow mien was tasteless and the sweet and sour sauce for the chicken balls was so thick we had to scoop it out of the cup. Will not be visiting again and will stick with a 241on a Tuesday!

This is so disappointing to have to write, but the food was delayed by 1hr 30mins so nearly 2.5 hours after placing the order, after two phone calls it finally arrived……the driver was so rude, no apology for it being late, and after I had stated it was so late he said ‘well what do you expect it’s a Saturday’ and just walked off! The most disgusting experience, the food majority was good. Considering I ordered my food at 5:50 it’s pretty bad it be eating past 8pm!!!

Fantastic. I rang and asked if they were working Christmas day. They got back to me and said yes. I put our order in a few days before and it arrived on time, hot and really lovely food. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I'm disabled and so is my mum and we didn't want to cook. Can't thank them all for a stunning experience. I do normally use this takeaway but this was above and beyond. If I could give 10 stars I would.

Good experience despite other people’s poor experience. Polite lady on the phone. Pre ordered for collection. Was hot when I picked it up and stayed hot for a while. Very happy! Will be back again

The best Singapore noodles in West Sussex. We drive 20mins for this takeaway have tried most but so far we haven't found any competition.

- 2 hours wait for a delivery (an hour later then they said) - Missing items - food was cold - no, the food was cold and horrible - difficult to talk to - delivery driver was nice - overall avoid the shop - hit up number 11, it's much better - I'll rate myself 1 for trying this place.

First time ordering since their food hygiene rating plummeted a couple years back. It says it’s back to 5 so we chanced it.. The food was good and nobody’s been sick yet so that’s a bonus.. will happily revisit.

We ordered on line and we’re informed our food would be about an hour. After calling after an hour and a half we were told it was on its way. Twenty minutes after that it arrived. Food wasn’t that good. The chips had been reheated and were dry and powdery. The only nice thing from the whole thing was the driver. Won’t be ordering again. Definitely won’t recommend.

I think they changed hands several years a go. They were the best in town. They are now back to their previous best after a rocky few years.

We have been their regular customers for years, staff are always friendly and helplful. Keep it up!

After seeing some of the reviews on this site i was worried about ordering food,but i had to try it for myself.I had nothing to worry about,service was good,speed was good,food was great, nice to eat chinese food again.Thank you Lotus House,will be back again sometime,keep up the good work

This place is amazing! In a city where so many eateries close early, Lotus House definitely is a reliable place for when you’re hungry after 8pm. Perfect for those who work at the theatre, due to what time our shows end. Amazing portion sizes and delicious food! Highly recommended

Anyone thinks this is Chinese food they have not had proper Chinese. Ordered several dishes for the first time and I can honestly say not even one dish was good out of eight dishes. I will not order from this place again as I can cook a better Chinese myself and save £50!

Will never order here again! A friend recommended it and I will never take their advice again either! Even though there was a lot of the mixed Starter it was dry even with x2 sauces, Chill, salt n pepper prawns were dry n powdery, bean curd was greasy and un-edible, Singapore rice noodles were bland. Altogether a very disappointing meal, the prawn crackers were good but hey you got to mega rubbish to get them wrong ?!

Crispy chilli beef was cold and rock solid! Chicken balls were undercooked with raw batter in the centre and the chow mein was cold and funny tasting, AVOID AVOID AVOID

AVOID THESE CLOWNS Tried giving them a second chance after they were closed down for poor hygiene, but they continue to disappoint. They get your orders wrong virtually every time with food missing. They read your order back to you when you phone it in, but can't seem to manage to produce the order. They couldn't care less about the customer. Use any of the others in Chichester, they are all miles better

We have been using Lotus House for years and always enjoy the food. Delivery usually arrives quicker than the estimated time and drivers have been consistently friendly & courteous. Very surprised to see the poor reviews. Certainly not our experience.

Always Delicious! Ordered around 10 times and always hot and super tasty. Sweet and sour chicken, duck in plum sauce and salt and pepper dishes are our favourites. Delivery drivers always friendly and speedy.

Ordered from lotus house because Jasmine house is shut on a Tuesday, shouldn’t have bothered. Worst ribs ive ever had, the batter on chicken balls was burnt and greasy, chips soggy and satay sauce was like water. Nice prawn crackers though. Will never order from them again.

I do not often have a takeaway, but when friends visit Lotus House is in my mind the only choice. Food delicious, portion size and value great. Delivery driver arrived right on time with a mask on but I could tell he was smiling as he passed it through the window. Thankyou Lotus House!

We had chicken balls and prawn balls both so greasy they oozed grease into your mouth when you bit into them. The chow meins were amazing though so not all negative.

Normally really good but tonight was awful. Was told the food would be ready in 25 mins, but ended up waiting an hour for collection. When we got the food and brought it home the chicken curry was completely inedible as the sauce was completely burnt. Must have been sat in a pot for too long or something but you couldn't eat it at all. Such a shame as normally really good. Would make me think twice buying there when it's busy.

Cannot recommend this chinese enough. The only one we will order from in Chichester. Ordered many times and never had an issue. Food tasty, hot and delivered very quickly.

Waiting time. Phoned to check delivery, said free on site but told £2. We live in a village so thought ok, checked timings. 20 Mins collection 1 hr delivery. Went to collect after 20 mins and waited another 40 mins. It was very busy so consoled myself that it must be good, er no.We had 5 dishes. Veg noodles and mixed veg were fine. Duck on rice dish tasteless. Capital ribs sauce was so thin it was like a drink and not that pleasant BUT the salt and pepper squid was the worst example either of us have EVER had ANYWHERE and there were loads of crispy rice things to make the box look fuller, the chilli wasn't, no heat at all and the squid was in tiny squares making it 90% batter and very quickly cold, tasteless, no heat in the chilli either, I can't even give this dush a 1 star. On the plus side the staff were ok and portions decent.

First and last experience at Lotus House 26/10/2019. It was overprice, inedible slop, only went for a beef in black bean dish with rice and a chow mien, so nothing iv not had before. Unfortunately it looked like it was a lunchtime meal not finished, reheated and served back to me. Three words sum this up, Late, overpriced and inedible

Regular customers have seen the standard really drop and this finished us off won’t be using again. Ordered £100.80 take away to have with friends ... to find 2 separate long black hairs cooked into the batter of two dishes. Guests and us where disgusted and put off, it ruined the entire meal.. Called up to only be offered the 2 dishes re-cooked or 10% off next order. No apology or reassurance of there hygiene procedures.

Not sure a take away even needs to be on here. We tried this place once, lady who served us on the counter was obviously either in a very bad mood or having a bad day. Other than that, food was served quickly - it was meant to be chicken, it was awful. Would not ever come here again. A much better one in South Street. Their delivery drivers are often driving up & down the road, pulling up outside, bumping onto small pavement - driving very fast, no indication etc - dangerous.

Always great food and great service

Been coming here for many years and it’s okay if you want a chinese take away but nothing special really. Sweet and sour chicken balls were a bit soggy and stodgy. The special fried rice is good, I have just had a tray of that in the past. The chicken in yellow bean sauce with cashew nuts is nice. We always order, go across the road for a drink in the G and D go over and pick up, never a wait or problem.

Best Chinese in Chichester. Food is always hot when delivered and you can normally collect within 10/15 mins of ordering the food. Highly recommend the Crispy Chili Beef and the Hong Kong Style Chicken Balls!

I found what looks like a dead spider in my food. Rang up straight away and was told that I couldn’t have a full refund and that I wasn’t allowed to speak to the manager and that they would give me a refund for the side dish I’d ordered and would remake my whole order. I refused because I don’t want to eat anything else from this place again. I am really sad as this has always been my favourite place to eat for Chinese for over 5 years, and have accepted bad waiting times and mistakes in the past but this was the last straw. I am majorly gutted.

I found a dead spider in my meal. Company refused a full refund. Won’t be using again. Am very sad as I have had good experiences before this but after this event and their customer service, I will not be returning.

We thought we would try on recommendation the lotus house. We weren't disappointed from the helpful polite staff to the quality of ingredients in the dishes and the lovely succulent flavours they fuse together. Won't go anywhere else now. Highly recommended.

Me and my friend went here and we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly, polite and chatty as well as being quick with our orders. For £6.70 I got the best beef curry and rice that I've had in years - the rice was fresh and the beef was perfectly done. Unlike other places the beef here had no fat on it but was very spicy!

Really nice food! However, read on website that as long as you are under 2 miles away that they won’t charge for delivery. We are 1.7 miles away and got charged 2 quid just because we have a PO20 postcode! Need to update your website!

I come here about 6 times a year for a takeaway. The staff are nice with a particularly pleasant young girl serving in the evenings in a sterile but clean waiting area close to the Hornet in Chichester.

I have ordered here ever since I have lived in Chichester getting small deliveries but happy to pay the £2 fee. But they have changed this option and I can no longer order under £10 regardless of fees. They also no longer take card payments under £15. All ways to increase the amount I order. I am very unhappy about this.
