Lotus in Argyll & Bute

The quality of the food has deteriorated since this restaurant was taken over. Very disappointed as we used it on a regular basis but we will wait to see if the quality of the food gets better before ordering again.

We have lived in nearby Clynder, which is roughly two minutes away from the Lotus Chinese restaurant. The Lotus has changed owners a couple of times. This has affected the level of food quality, in my opinion. The Lotus does offer delivery at added cost. Overall, the Lotus is good quality for a rural location. One choice is one restaurant.

Ordered chicken bites, satay sauce and plain chicken chow mein, the chow came with prawns, asked for a change, put me to the bottom of deliveries and waited 35 minutes so the chicken and sauce was cold. Reheated Chinese food is barking, when it finally came the chow was covered in curry powder?? Who on earth puts curry on a plain chicken chow? Will be in tomorrow for a refund.

Very disappointed, ordered chicken satay (very sweet and no peanut taste) ribs (tasted burnt) literally put on plates, tasted and then binned… not what we have previously experienced…definitely don’t recommend.

This place is ideal for us as it's in the next village but how many times does it have to shut down and reopen with new owners? Is it a tax dodge thing? No card, just cash. Same as Garelochhead. Defo a dodge going on here.

I normally rate the lotus as a very good take out but tonight was a huge disappointment the duck chow main was very dry and the duck was over cooked and dried out. I could not eat it. The BBQ spare ribs were not BBQ but some sort of gravy. I have informed them about this as I can't stress enough how disappointed I am as I always rated them the place for a great take out. Not so sure anymore. 😕

Fantastic food with a great range of options, very good prices, really big portions and lovely, friendly staff. Can't recommend them enough.

Where do I begin, honestly, the food is just amazing. Order in early though as it's a busy wee Shop, better still, get it delivered. They also offer a fast delivery service

Never had a bad meal from the Lotus. Even on a busy Saturday night, when you call or pop in, with a smile they produce a great meal. Good size portions and some of the best chow fan ever! The beef or chicken in Black Bean sauce is one of the best I have ever had. They have a great delivery service too and I know they deliver not only locally but pretty far out to! I would totally recommend this restaurant to anyone. Cannot wait for my next take away.

I haven't immediately fallen in love with either the place or the food. I need a second visit and that's good. This is a takeaway establishment, the shop front and interior are a little tired but the staff are friendly and the place was busy many customers were regulars judging by first name use. Food portions are average to large, and cost is average for the area. What I really enjoyed was the reduced salt used in the cooking, unusual for a Chinese restaurant. The food tasted differently to other Chinese restaurants I have eaten in, not unpleasant just different and it is this that makes me hesitate to give a glowing review. NB cash only.

Wow, can't believe they found where we were staying till the delivery driver told us he'd been part of the crew that built the house 🤣 Easy to order over the phone a takeaway for 4 people and delivered in good time considering we were 5 miles away from the shop. Massive portions which were hot and tasty with enough to be saved for tea tomorrow😋 Highly recommended and thank you very much👍🏼

Delicious food friendly helpful staff

Food was okayish. Chicken spring roll had prawn which was not something I prefer. Staff was friendly and locally nothing else available therefore nice to have found something to eat.

Very disapointing. Worst chinese food we have ever had. Ordered Duck in orange sauce and we got overcooked shrivelled up dry duck and seperate orange sauce that was ok ish. Vegetable rolls did not have any vegetable apart from tasteless beansprouts. Beef chop suey was terrible and un appealing as it was just grey and salty and disgusting! Yong chow fried rice was dry aswell. Kung po ribs fatty and sickly sweet. The menu looks amazing with so many dishes advertised but such a shame they cant cook the simplest dishes properly. I think they need a visit from the food standards agency asap! Expensive and very very disapointing. Do not waste your money. !!!! Rip off !!!! 30/08/2020

We ordered a delivery of the set meal for two. The food was ordinary and quite expensive for what it was, and delivery. We will use it again, but probably wouldn’t order the set menu.

Have been waiting over an hour for our take away, will not be back

Horrendous as per every weekend we have had to wait over 2 hrs for our delivery.... someone needs to open some where have decent ..... yous are a disgrace kids sitting that long waiting for their dinner shame on you

This was the best Chinese meal, takeaway or otherwise, we have eaten for a long time. Maybe the best ever. Delicious. We chose to have beef fillet in our main and it was well worth the extra couple of pounds.

About the only place to get food in Rosneath. Affordable, quick and tasty. Very pleasant staff and a free lollipop for the kids. Not open on Mondays.

This great little Takaeay keeps producing good food, the set menus with the odd small tweak are firm favourites of ours. It does seem however that recently they are becoming a little overwhelmed by demand, on a busy Sat night it’s almost impossible to get through on either phone line & if you drive in to order in person, the lone guy front of house is so busy dispatching orders that he can’t take new ones. More staff needed I feel.

Popped by for some food later in the evening, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here! The duck dishes were amazing, like restaurant standards from a takeaway. Would recommend the duck in plum sauce. The owners were fellow Malaysians who were lovely and gave us free drinks, prawn crackers and fortune cookies. Thanks guys!

The large and extensive menu will suit all tastes. The Staff are so friendly and happy all the time. The orders are processed quickly and the food is delicious. I use the Lotus every 2 months and I have never had a bad meal.

I have reviewed the Lotus in the past, however I need to update as they now have wonderful gluten free options, including prawn in sesame (gf) toast and (gf) chow mein. Thank you! This is a take away only restaurant.

This is by far the best Chinese in the area. It's the same owners as the old mandarin in Helensburgh. Restaurant food at takeaway prices. Great service.

Had a takeaway meal from here last night. Food was really good. We had sweet and sour Cantonese style and beef chow mein and both were great. Service was speedy, prices good and food piping hot.

The food from the lotus has to be the best I've tried from any take away. The owners are friendly, the food always tastes amazing, the food is always piping hot. Lotus is always very busy which proves how good it is. Excellent value for money

Food for 6 people so various items ordered. All of the food was tasty with lots of subtle touches. Restores my faith in Chinese cuisine. Can't say there is any other Chinese restaurant in the West of Scotland I would rate above this one.

I love this little takeaway. The food is delish and it's surprisingly cheap. I got my meal delivered and it was here in 20 mins. The delivery driver (silver car) wasn't half bad looking either This little takeaway is definitely worth a try.

Since Lotus opened in June this year, we have cancelled our 28mile round trip to Helensburgh for take out Chinese. I can walk a few hundred yards to the Lotus to order from the best Eastern food takeaway available in this extended area. Our friends, family and neighbours all agree that the lotus is an absolute breath of fresh air and a credit to our village and we are assuming that many of the local food outlets in surrounding villages are suffering due to Lotus' success. We've munched our way through most of the menu by now and just can't fault it, inexpensive, quality fayre and excellent service.Many thanx Lotus, you've got a customer for life.

The Lotus is a new Chinese take away restaurant based in Rosneath and delivering to the whole Rosneath Peninsula. It has an extensive menu and everything we have tried so far has been excellent. The food is fairly priced for the quality and allergies are also catered for. Delivery is quick - tonight's meal arrived in less than half an hour.

Ok, ok, it only opened tonight, 17th June 2015, tasted 5 dishes already, spicy crispy beef in honey sauce, Singapore noodles cooked to perfection, chicken with pineapple(not my choice) and chicken fried rice and spare ribs. Huge portions.Budget prices.First night, it only opened at 4pm today, so it was really busy tonight, and orders were taking 20 minutes or so, however it was well worth the wait.Got my takeaway menu and you can ring your order in for collection at a set time.(that's what I'll be doing)Delivery all over the Kilcreggan peninsula and beyond for a small fee.Great menu.Set dinners too.I'll definitely be back for more very soon. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 16.30 to 22:00Only suggestion guys some numbered tickets would help, (very minor point) subtitles switched on, on the tv to understand evening news.Good luck with the new business guys!
