Loon Fung in Glasgow City

Had late lunch here with friends, we travelled over from Edinburgh as our dim sum options aren't very good. The portions are a good size. The prawn dumplings Hai gow and Sui Mai are a bigger than your average restaurant. Cheung fun soft and taste freshly made. Ordered a number of different dim sum to try, liked everything. Just the book tripe needed a bit more flavour. I likes the prawn balls with the cheese sauce filling , it's not found at your normal dim sum restaurant. The website needs to update their prices as they are different. The staff were attentive and friendly. Well worth the drive over. Just difficult to find parking as in the city centre.

I can't recommend this place highly enough.I think the bad reviews are being left by jealous competition around them.I eat dim sum all over the world.This is by far my favorite so far. It was packed with people,mainly Asian folk,WHICH IS ALWAYS A GOOD SIGN. The food was sooo fresh,so perfectly made,and served the authentic way. I had way too much food, but every bit of it was awesome,Soo delicious.Cant wait to go back,but won't eat so much next time🤣 staff also very welcoming,well done guys

剛入座奉上兩碗雞湯，濃郁，香醇，像在喝雞精。喝雞精，這雞湯真是讚不絕口。第二道上的鳳爪就是標準的港式點心。 再來上的三道菜就是椒鹽只有主角不一樣，菜內容完全一樣，軟殼蟹完全沒有味道可言，椒鹽豆腐也不知道我在吃什麼？？兩份餐點都一同共同特色，粉裹的超厚的？完全不知道我在吃什麼食物？而且蒜酥超級的油，這是蒜酥嗎？是油酥？腐皮卷的外皮也炸了，真的是「油油」亮亮的。師父的油炸功夫 真的要再加強。 然後餐廳還附上水果與甜點，雞湯給兩顆星，餐後水果、甜點一顆星。附帶一提：用餐環境蠻好的。 「配料、醬汁」都一樣？主菜不一樣而已，這種做法？真的會讓中式餐廳會越來越沒落？完全沒有靈魂？也難怪Google評論這麼少？又沒有很高分。

Good Cantonese food, which is a Hong Kong style food. Looks small from front but really opens out at the back. Dim sum seems to be served all day and the roast meats are good. I had the pork dumplings which were plump and fresh. Special house noodles and rice in lotus leaf. All really nice. Been here 3 times and it is a small gem hidden behind a small shop front. It is almost Chinese new year but they gave me a very Chinese soup at the start and a sweet bean dessert with some fruit on the side. So much to eat. Ordered mixed meat crispy noodles. Very Hong Kong, offal, tripe and liver. Might put most people off. It was big and delicious. Curry whelks were very good also. With beer and another side all just around £30.

What a surprise. We stumbled upon this place - when we first walked in, we weren't sure about it at all as it looked empty, but we walked around the corner, and we were surprised to see a huge restaurant. Food was so authentic that I had no idea what much of it was, so we played it safe with the business lunch - but next time, I will definitely be more adventurous. Great service - I'll definitely be back and will bring more friends and family

The best Chinese duck I've had in Scotland. Able to ride the line between traditional and British very well. Near perfect service. I did hear some screaming in the back and my chair had a whole in the bottom but other than that a perfect experience.

Would often come here for the dim sum experience! One of the best in Glasgow. Authentic Chinese dim sum.

25 of us in total, had an amazing night in the karaoke room down stairs, loads of food which was very tasty, staff are always helpful and attentive. Always have a great time here when we have our annual get together

Normally,the 3 roast is nice. Today,it was awful. Bland,tasteless and terrible cuts of meat. We could have done better at home. To add insult to injury,the idiot waiter was clueless and made us wait for almost 20mins not realising our order was ready and sitting in a bag,despite chasing up repeatedly. Standards have dropped. Won't be back. Same-Same is far superior,unfortunately they don't open until after 4pm.

So after a truely appalling experience here last night I would like to share with the OWNER!! your very rude and arrogant member of staff ADAMS Behaviour! So if he telling me the truth the owner is mr sang ! Well mr sang this guy is beyond rude! I ordered chow mein and the waiter brings me out vermicelli I look round to tell someone it’s wrong all the staff are sitting at a round table around 10pm eating no One cares to ask how my food is or check in on me! I start eating the meal thinking it’s late and I’m hungry knowing the restaurant maybe closing soon! After eating half the meal I finally usher ADAM over he asks me if everything is ok I tell him the mix up of order and that I wasn’t to pleased no one came to ask how my food was! His attitude begggers belief ! I should of said when the food came it’s to late to give my side of the story and he not interested in what I have to say! My opinion doesn’t matter and if I tell my side on here the next day he doesn’t care as it’s not his restaurant! And if I don’t like it don’t come back so to speak! I asked maybe u could reduce a small bit of the bill by way of gratitude for my custom! No chances there ! Well the food is vastly over priced the service is diabolical and hopefully this review is met by the kind of people like myself who will think twice about eating at your restaurant !!!

Been here previously and it had been great. This time around it was poor. Main course was the worst I've had ever. Fried rice appeared/tasted like stained boiled rise. Orange chicken was fruit free slimey chicken wafer thin and mostly batter....ideal for vegans I suppose. No taste. After they removed the stuff they brought orange pieces....guess that was to get rid of taste of food....Best bit of meal....tasted of orange....perhaps would have been better in the meal. Serving wasn't the best. Managed approx 30% of it....no one questioned this ...just interested in cash I suppose. Staff were okay but less than welcoming. Won't be back. Avoid

Went to Loon Fung for the first time a few days with a couple of friends, not quite sure what to expect based on reviews, but it ended up being one of the best meals I've ever had in Glasgow! We ordered a selection of Dim Sum including: satay beef dumplings, vietnamese springs rolls, friend turnip mousse and durian fruit cake, and every dish was well-cooked and delicious. We orderd five dishes between the three of us for a light meal, and it was very affordable - coming in at about £32. The staff were also friendly and efficient, and didn't rush us to order when we were waiting for our third friend. Highly reccommend, we'll definitely be back!

You just know the food will be great when a Chinese restaurant has many tables with Chinese eating. Really.nkce food and good service. Worth trying as if it is Chinese food they will serve it here.

Absolutely love this restaurant. I think it's fair to say that it's as good as the Loon Fung before the fire at Steak and Cherry upstairs closed them down

Really good, authentic dim sum and lovely service. Of particular note - well, everything! V nice fried morning glory, every dumpling delicious, excellent noodles, just what our family group wanted.

Ordered through deliveroo. Food was exceptionally bland and produce didn't feel fresh. Crispy chicken slivers were so thin in their thick starch shell that they were barely detectable. We had a few different things, none of it enjoyable, but all very overpriced for what you get. Hugely disappointing. Also everything packed in single use plastic, come on it's 2023 there's other options and with what you're charging you should be able to afford it.

Tried Loon Fung through Hungry Panda for a noon pickup of buns and salt and chilli chicken. When I got the notification that our food was ready the person on duty didn't know about the order and clearly threw some scraps of chicken from the day before into a takeaway tub then tossed it in a microwave. Hardly any of it plus old and hard besides. If you aren't ready for customers at opening, change your hours of collection.

An incredibly varied menu of delicious food, comfortable seating in a spacious room. We had the minced pork and green beans, king prawns, fried buns, and crispy roast pork. Everyting was fanatstic. We really recommend this place. Only negative thing, the music was too loud for me, but that's a tiny complaint compared to everything else.

It’s a glasgow diehard Chinese restaurant. I go 2-3 times a year for dim sum and can’t complain little pricier but it’s good authentic stuff very popular with Chinese community so say no more

Really fantastic, some of the best food I have ever had and the service was 2nd to none. We travelled from Ayrshire and all of the food was incredible but specifically the pork char siu blew my mind, already planning our next visit with more family!

I must say this restaurant is the best Chinese restaurant in Glasgow! I love Cha sir with rice so much. Also fried squid was very good. Price was suitable, not to expensive. The atmosphere made me feel like I'm in China. I must come back to try other foods!

A really big and extensive menu with lots of good options, however not suited for vegetarians as they couldn’t guarantee if some things were veggie or not. The service isn’t very attentive but they were friendly. It’s a unique experience and you’re guaranteed to get traditional style Chinese food.

The food here is lovely. But as a quick Google will confirm, human rights groups identified this as one of the Chinese governments 'secret police stations', among other issues.

They served me pig intestines, beef stomach, fish balls and soggy pork skin instead of a chow mein. Quite literally the worst food I've ever laid eyes on - I ordered a house special chow mein and relieved what I can only describe as a fishy umbilical cord stew. Quite literally vile, and the restaurant refused to help when I called up. I paid 18 quid for pig innards, cow stomach and processed fish balls in horrid watery gravy AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Traditional Cantonese food, tasty. A good atmosphere with friendly staff and CBD location. Lots of choice with chicken, beef, lamb,seafood and vegetables. Highly recommend if you are in Glasgow.

it is so awful . we booked a private room and they took the deposit , but when we arrived they did not accept and there were other guests sitting in the room we booked . staff reply very rude

The service in this Chinese restaurant in Glasgow is very poor, the dining room downstairs is very dirty. There were big flies flying around. The most irritating thing is the arbitrary charges. The 11 of us were taken by a local Chinese tour guide -- Qian yi. We just ordered some normal dishes. It cost more than 600 pounds at the final checkout. It was the most expensive dinner we had in the British 3 islands. After we arrived in London, we only spent more than 400 pounds in the most expensive Chinese restaurant in Chinatown in London. The dishes are delicious and the restaurant is clean. This Loon Fung Cantonese Restaurant cheated customers together with the tour guide Qiao yi, and did not charge randomly according to the prices in the menu. I hope everyone is careful. Never be fooled by tour guides and restaurants again. Always look at the prices on the morning menu before ordering.

This restaurant is one of the better, if not the best place for dim sum in Glasgow. Try ordering a few different things, even if out of your comfort zone. Everything is quite tasty, comes out fast, the price is reasonable, and the service is fine. They take credit cards, which is a given in most places but still worth mentioning. Parking is a bit of a hassle.

There were 8 of us and we booked a table in advance for 9pm, We were a group that were catching up for the first time in 9 months and were looking fwd to a good night. The welcome was very friendly and the service quick and efficient. We ordered some drinks then wine for our table. The food that was served was excellent enjoyed by everyone so you would think that my rating should be higher. Half way through our meal we ordered 2 more bottles of wine but only one arrived, when the mains were cleared we were offered desserts but declined and were then immediately presented with our bill despite not requesting it. We pointed out that we were still waiting for a bottle of red and were told thst the bar was closed, by this time it was 10.30pm. When we pointed out that there was half of the table still with half a bottle of wine and we has previously ordered but never recievec the bottle of red, again we were told the bar was closed. We booked here to enjoy a nice evening sitting around the circular table catching up on 9 months but the minute we put our forks down we felt that we were no longer welcome, there was a full on party going on in one of the down stairs rooms yet despite this we didn't get served. A shocking way to finish what otherwise was a lovely experience. If you want to finish early as a restaurant then don't take 9pm bookings, but I suppose the attraction of table of 9 spending 400 pounds is 1 1/2 hours swings that...not for us won't be back customer service levels big disappointment

The service was poor, with no apologies or acknowledgment of mistakes. The staff blamed me for not reading the menu carefully, and their unprofessional behavior was upsetting. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my encounter.

Complain I visited the restaurant, and prior to placing the orders, I specifically inquired about the ingredients in the wonton soup due to my shrimp allergy. The waiter assured me that the soup contained pork, so i proceeded to order it. However, upon receiving the soup, I noticed that the wontons were made with shrimp, and unfortunately, I had already consumed the soup. I expressed my concern to the manager, hoping for a resolution, but regrettably, the restaurant did not take any professional action. They blaim me and insisted that it was solely my responsibility to be aware that wonton soup typically includes shrimp. I called the manager again to stress the importance of the situation and the impact it could have on my health due to my allergy. Eventually, the restaurant agreed to refund the cost of the wonton soup. However, witout any apologise from the manager, I was surprised when the manager started complaining to me again, telling me that I shouldn't have eaten it if I wanted a refund. ARE YOU SERIOUS!?

When in St Annes I always visit this restaurant And usually I give it excellent but not this time Service was erratic and the main course pretty poor I took one of the specials - sea bass The sauce was overpowering and the fish was poor quality Will I be returning on my next visit probably but I will be looking for an improvement

Great secret Chinese police station. Staff is very stoic and hard ruling, they also can't help but eves drop your conversations. Heard a man scream in terror in the back, it was probably an interegation. Food was okee.

We went for a meal before the theatre twice, once we bought from the pre theatre menu which was broad and great value. The second visit we ventured off of that menu and had items like their dim sum and salt and chilli wings. It is a very high quality restaurant with amazing service. I thoroughly enjoyed my main course Singapore noodles it was fresh and delicious. I’d recommend anyone to give this place a try as it is incredibly good. I could not finish all of my main meal and they offered to pack it to take away which was lovely of them. 10/10.

Been here a few times. Food and service are fantastic

Food is proper Chinese fare and the prices are amazing, especially when you consider the size of one's dish. The staff are amazing too. I gave it only 3 Stars for Atmosphere simply because it's really hard to get over the whole 'CPC secret police station' thing and one wonders if one should be here or not. Until there's confirmation I'm going to keep eating here regularly.

Simply the best and most authentic Cantonese restaurant I've been to in Scotland.

Went here at 1pm on 03/05/23 for the first time we were going to the King's theatre and found this restaurant round the corner. It was busy however we were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our table. We ordered the business lunch 2 courses for £10.95 a selection of about 6 starters and about 8 mains I had chicken noodle soup then sweet & sour chicken with fried rice all dishes were delicious in taste and the portions were adequate. The staff were very attentive however not intrusive we were not rushed at anytime and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will be returning in the future.

Great dim sum. Service is quick and efficient and the food is lovely.

服务态度挺好，菜的味道也还行，但是吃饭的时候后面有个工作人员的小孩一直在我后方又跳又叫，很近那种，最后直接把气球打到了我身边，然后冲过来把气球弄破了，在我耳边超级大声耳朵都快聋了，没人道歉也没人阻止那个小男孩，于是我马上买单走人，一顿饭的体验感可以说是降到了0，不管熊孩子的餐厅真的让人不想来第二次

Amazing dimsum and congee! Very happy and would 100% go back!

We went for lunch here one Saturday, we haven't been for about 4 years as we were put off by the attitude of the staff. However we decided to give it another go and much to our surprise the staff were much nicer and more helpful, we had a lovely table on the raised balcony area which was just perfect, the table was roomy and we weren't rushed to order our food. They have an excellent wine list and the prices are very reasonable. As a starter I had soft shell salt and chilli crab - simply delicious and my husband had crispy salt and chilli chicken which he said was gorgeous, I had duck chow mein for a main again scrumptious and my husband had crispy beef szechuan (with extra chilli!!!) and egg fried rice, the portions were huge and we asked to take what we left home with us (which actually made another meal each and it was really good reheated). The prices were excellent and the service was good. Highly recommend and look forward to returning soon.

This one SLAPPPPED differently. Some of the best dim sum I've had. Good service. Just get the attention of a member of staff and they'll get you what you need without interrupting you midway through your meal.

Quick Takeaway service and delicious Dim Sum and Rice Snacks♡ Very comfortable Dine In experience - chairs are comfortable and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Family restaurant. Many options to try something new. Food is flavourful and moreish and always served fresh hot. Favourite dishes are the Fried Beef Ho Fun for sharing, and then from the Dim Sum menu: Char Sui Bun, and the Steamed Egg Yolk Bun for a fluffy and tasty meal that will fill you up. Recommended for visiting.

The food is delicious. It's not a posh place, but it's worth a visit. My husband and I visited Glasgow in October and enjoyed a lovely lunch here. We had a tasty soup and a wonderful Peking Duck. Good value for money!

Whenever we are in Glasgow, we always visit here for a set lunch plus a few extras. The food is always superb and comes out hot. If they are busy you may find yourself getting your main course before you have finished your starter, so I wouldn't go in thinking you will have a slow and relaxed lunch or dinner. We don't mind it. The service reminds me a little of a restaurant in London called Wong Kei. It's curt and efficient and little else but if you take that as part of its charm its all good. Especially when the food it that good. Incidentally, we always get sat in the same area, Towards the rear of the restaurant in a small sectioned off area, near the kitchen. This always seems to be used for non Chinese diners. Us foreigners are sat together in one corner, looking at the larger Chinese families sat on the round big tables with swivelling centres, for entertainment. I'm not a dim sum man myself, I prefer a good 1970s chinese chicken curry.

We love it here. Always busy and good vibe. Food is amazing! It's easy to eat too much. Super tasty and delicious washed down with green tea and Tsingtao. 😁

This Glasgow Institution has been there since 1971! It has had a few iterations, and the latest one is a bit less "up market" than previous ones. However, the food is unbelievable, superb, delicious and plentiful. It is so worth the trip. You cannot find anything they don't do here. It's fantastic.
