London Street Brasserie in Reading

We’ve been going to the LSB for special occasions for more than 20 years and this is the first time that we have left disappointed. Location and service were still lovely, but the food quality was well down. Also I know that prices have gone up everywhere but drinks, in particular, were expensive. Sad to say that for us this is no longer the stand out restaurant in Reading and that we probably won’t go back

Overpriced and underwhelming- the waitressing staff did their best but it must have been the chefs night off. If you want to have a celebratory meal with good food please go somewhere else. People on the table next to us were also not happy so I know it’s not just us!

Oh God! I could rate LSB as a million out of a million: the service and food were excellent. There was an amazing lady looking after myself and my parents: Sasha by name. Sasha was brilliant, giving the right customer care, and was exceedingly helpful. She is pure gold dust, plus her tattoos are awesome as well.

I can't believe it has taken me so long to come here ....absolutely amazing food , cooked perfectly and with interesting menu/ wine choices . The restaurant somehow manages to walk the fine line between feeling like a special night out but without the stuffiness of" fine dining" restaurants - a much more modern approach to a great night out . Nice location beside the canal with a terrace that unsurprisingly we didn't use being January ! Visit here - you won't be disappointed !

Have been dining here for years, was always the best restaurant in Reading, sadly not anymore!Staff still extremely friendly and knowledgeable, unfortunately, the food now does not match, and is average at best and overpriced. Will be finding a new favourite restaurant!

Attend for late Lunch ( 16:00pm ) on 28/12/23 .. the restaurant was busy but not packed - as always with LSB the atmosphere was very pleasant and warm. All the staff were very friendly from the girl on the door who took our coats to the girl who served drinks. Amber our waitress was attentive and chatty - my Pheasant was excellent as was my friends Pork Loin. Apparently the dessert were spot on. The only Minus for me was the pre dinner beer - I had a draft pint of IPA Rebellion and though it was a bit flat - switched to bottle beer ( Breakspear Oxford ) which was fine … it’s not the first time we have met friends here at the London St Brasserie, Reading - and it won’t be the last - keep up the good work 👍.

V good food in a nice building in the unpromising environs of the Oracle centre. Good food selection, nice atmosphere and great service. By far the best place to eat smartly in Reading town centre. Easy parking too!

We ate here for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and it was amazing. The food was delicious and the menu had an extensive selection it was difficult to choose. When the food arrived it looked great and didn’t disappoint in the taste. The drinks were also great and I would recommend the margarita! To add to the great evening the waiting staff were exceptional. So polite, helpful and courteous. We are looking forward to visiting again.

Food was honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. I had the mussels to start and sea bass with octopus for main, while my partner enjoyed the squid starter and lamb main. I can’t speak to his food (although he said is was very good!), but my seafood dishes were incredible. Portions are extremely generous, allergies are well-catered for, and fresh, seasonal ingredients are used to provide delicious tasting dishes. Staff were lovely and, when a very slight delay occurred with my partner’s dessert, the manager insisted on giving us a bottle of wine to enjoy at home - a gesture totally not required (we didn’t mind the wait!), but extremely appreciated. We won’t hesitate to come back.

Some of the best food I have had , if you go out for food then it should be food you don't normally make at home and this restaurant is the reason why. Fantastic menu with such good choices, great staff and great location. Will be returning for evening meal

It was our first time and it will not be our last. From the time we were shown to our table this experience was divine because of the food , atmosphere and service and that was Harriet who made the evening a wonderful Birthday celebration. I had the London Street Brasserie Lobster & Prawn Cocktail. It was by far the best prawn cocktail I have ever had. I loved the addition of avocado which took it to another level. My main was a Seared Bream Fillet , Grilled Octopus. It was accompanied with Isle of Wight Tomatoes , Asparagus , Saute Jersey Royals Avocado Purée. Every element of the dish was perfect and complimented each other. This plate of perfection was on a level named sublime and I finished on a Key Lime Meringue with a Margarita Sorbet. When I ordered this Harriet had mentioned this was her favourite and after I had finished I knew why. It was light , refreshing and the flavours were out of this world. When I return I would easily have all of this again. You have not lived an exciting life until you experienced this amazing restaurant for yourself. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who reads this

We have been coming to LSB for many years including a few visits to the crooked billet in Stoke Row. It was our 25 year wedding anniversary today and we decided to visit the LSB in Reading. We were extremely disappointed at the quality of the food it has gone very down hill and when we spoke to the waiter about it he said we were not the only ones to complain about it. The only reason we went there was because most top end restaurants are closed on a Monday and LSB used to be one of the high end restaurants! Safe to say we will not be returning ☹️

Had dinner with adult family. Fish was excellent as was the rhubarb dessert. Had sherry which is unusual these days. Very pleasant dining room with outside seating overlooking the river. Would definitely go back.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered from the set menu. Started came and was really nice. For main was the duck and it was drier than the Sahara. Another of the group said the same. We asked for more sauce but that also was tasteless. I was impressed but ate it as I was starving. Shame as I here good things about this place but I won’t be rushing back. Service was great, nice selection of drinks.

Still good but spoilt by the welcome! First time back at LSB for 8 years having moved away, food and waitress service still as good as ever, more expensive but as expected! Our return was completely spoilt by the attitude of the ‘meet and greet girl’ …..clearly didn’t want to be there, in the wrong job and could not be bothered!

Apologies to the amazing staff for this late review. We ate here in May 2023. A really lovely restaurant with wonderful staff who are kind, friendly and sooo helpful. The food is delicious and very good portions. We were a large group and everyone thoroughly enjoyed dinner. Thank you for looking after us from the early booking stage with all our questions to the night itself. You all do a fantastic job.

My boyfriend took me out for a birthday meal and absolutely everything was perfect we sat outside and the setting an d views are lovely by the river. the service was lovely our waitress was the argentinan lady called maria the food all came out fairly quick and was so so so good. amazing quality, the best taste and really good portion sizes too. everything was amazing they were very kind and gave me a birthday plate with a victoria sponge the best 18th birthday surprise meal :))

It was pleasing to return to a relatively busy London Street Brasserie this Monday lunchtime. It was as I remembered it from pre-Covid days: a bustling vibrant couple of rooms whose walls were peppered with artistic prints of food and which featured a competitively priced set menu especially given the quality of the cooking on offer. I started with a chunky ham hock terrine complimented both by green salad and piccalilli. A main of calves’ liver comprised two generous pieces of meat on a bed of cubed parmentier potatoes in a rich gravy. A wonderfully retro rum baba rounded off proceedings beautifully.

Lovely food and very friendly staff. We didn't have a booking but they just fitted us in. Very interesting food e.g. apple, avocado and rocket salad. The wine list was pricey, and the layout is not ideal but it is in an old tollhouse by the river which explains its quirkiness. Try and get a table by the window with a view of the river and the bridge which amazingly is about 250 years old.

Wonderful service ! Made us feel proper at home and welcome, wonderful food and couldn't believe the price! So good!

First visit since new owners. Excellent food with excellent presentation. Service was very attentive. Looking forward to going back soon.

The appeal of LSB is clearly the lovely location and ambiance. The interior art is a high point. The stretched service and cold food isn’t! Such a shame as has great potential. Lastly there is a clear laissez faire attitude by the staff.
