London Inn in Teignbridge

Always a lovely place to while away the afternoon. Tim (?) the LL always manage a calming presence amidst general mayhem. Arrived for Sunday Lunch at peak time and no room at the Inn , as it were, but was not long before we were sat. Tapas of local crab on toast and white bait were commendable. Wine list had something for most, Muscadet “Lees “ aged and Chablis. Come hungry as the Sunday Beef Roast really piles them high. Will have to save room for dessert next time round. Ideal way of getting there is to walk as parking is a challenge in this quaint Devon estuary town. Given the dearth of quality wine bars in the Teign estuary, would love to see London Inn extending their wine range.

We come to the pub regularly as we live inTeignmouth. We have always enjoyed our visit and also bring friends when they visit. Unfortunately tonight we were a little disappointed I had the veggie burger that was luke warm in the middle and also the crumble was hot around the edges and cold in the middle, I tried to use the custard to heat it up but that was luke warm too. If we were staying in the pub longer I would have said something but we were going to a show and couldn’t be delayed

Had a lovely lunch here with friends having booked because of the offer of all main meals for £10 valid until 29th February. See attached. Upon paying we were asked by the landlord to pay full price, apparently because they had decided to withdraw the offer early. We will not be going back. Shame, because we really enjoyed the food.

Provided you can find somewhere to park, this pub restaurant is exactly my kind of place. Good food & beer, friendly polite staff, relaxing atmosphere.

Went with high hopes for a birthday meal. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the starters were good (lamb kofta and melted camembert) but the beef burger and the chicken burger weren't good at all. Both over cooked and dry. The bun not toasted and stale. The side of onion rings were very good and good value for money. The ladies toilets were awful. Smelly and unclean. Would I go again? Maybe for a drink, but wouldn't go for food.

Stopped in on the off chance of a spare table for 2 for food - there was .. just! The burger & chips we had tasted absolutely delicious, much better than it looked (could do with a little side salad to colour up the plate) - thoroughly enjoyed our unexpected stop. Nice local atmosphere and didn't feel like a tourist!

I am an artist and had a busy morning painting just wanted to have a light lunch and a glass of something to cheer me up. Sat at the bar the staff were lovely the tapas delicious. I feel so much better thank you all at the London Inn x

We booked for 12.30 and asked if they wanted us to pre order, as we were a group of 10, but were told it wasn’t necessary. 2 of our party didn’t arrive till 12.40 but we immediately ordered at the bar. At this point I was told that they had another booking for the table for 2.30, but we were having tapas so it shouldn’t be a problem. However I was also told that there would be a delay with the food. The tapas was delicious! But when we were asked to leave the table we hadn’t had time to have desserts or finished our drinks. There wasn’t anywhere to go as it was busy so we sat outside in the drizzle to finish our drinks. Not a very pleasant end to a birthday meal that cost us about £300 with drinks. Please make sure that you state the 2 hour time limit before taking bookings, and make sure that the service is spot on to enable guests to eat comfortably within that time limit.

Really friendly helpful service. Eating out with food allergies can be very stressful but we had an amazing experience and really good food. The rum is also excellent. Thank you very much.

Incredible food and amazing value especially with the £10 offer for main courses in the week! Best mussels I've ever had and a very generous portion. Very friendly staff and a warm cozy atmosphere, can't wait to go back!

Entered to loud children running amuck..busy lunchtime on a Sunday!! Found empty table and told in no uncertain terms that it was reserved! No other tables available except perches at high tables...not possible to use with my mobility probs! My hubbie ascertained that the reservation was for 20 mins hence so took a seat and got us drinks from the bar! The noise from the children increased steadily, with them dashing in and out of the bar! The waitress gave us the evil eye ...I suppose cos we disobeyed her instructions not to use the reserved table!! We drank up and left....never to return!! Used to be a super little place...a victim of its own success I suppose!!

We stayed next door so thought we'd give it a go. Wow our Tapas was amazing. We were made to feel welcome. I would definitely come again next time we visit

Lovely meal with a group of friends, food was spot on, all came out at the same time and all plates cleared! The menu and portion sizes have changed a little but I think they’re doing really well at keeping things reasonably priced. Great service all round thanks!

A fabulous meal, I had the king prawn linguini with a delicious sauce. Husband had steak, cooked perfectly. Table of 6 and we all had great starters, main and puds. Attentive, even when very very busy, staff. Added surprise bonus was that all mains were £10 each, even the steak! A M -Th deal we didn't know before booking. Definitely booking again for husband's birthday in January. Thank you.

Visited twice over our weekend. Both times the staff were pleasant and friendly and the service was great. Had food one evening and it was very tasty and would recommend them. The service had improved significantly since our last visit and we would definitely visit again.

This is a lovely cosy pub and the fish chips was delicious couple of drinks on the 1st of December went down well. Also bought some little Christmas Cork characters that were cute. Lovely staff will return soon. 🌲😊😊

A group of 14 of us went to the London Shaldon last night to celebrate special birthdays. I would like to thank Tim and his team for a brilliant evening, food was delicious (not easy when serving so many at once from the menu) wine that goes without saying!! and all the staff did their utmost to make sure we had a lovely evening. Thank you Jan Spruce.

We have not been to London Inn since before pandemic and were delighted to see a varied menu online ( compared to the burger type offerings) . We had a fabulous evening nicely paced in the restaurant (rather than bar area) Forgot to take photos as so engrossed in company and food. The tapas starters of monkfish goujons and a hummus were both lovely. We will go back for a Tapas meal soon. Two of our party had the Steak Pie and were very pleased with that , lamb shank was delightful as was the chicken and chorizo dish. Desserts of probably the best Chocolate Brownie we have had and a well received Chocolate and Mint tart finished off great evening. Good value. Free parking 7 minute walk away off Shoreside as difficult to park near the London Inn but worth it!

After moving down to this area three years ago, It was the first time we decided to have lunch at the london inn. We were not disappointed. The staff were excellent. The food was lovely, So we will definitely return..

Nowhere for drinkers to sit inside all tables had reserved signs on and the lady serving behind the bar was really not friendly kinda puts you off going back

10 minutes from finishing probably the best rump steak I can remember eating, superb, medium rare, Chicago style, with a peppercorn sauce to complement it with peas and steak chips, unreal for the price, missus enjoyed her nut roast, said it needed a bit more colour, eg, mange tout and carrot maybe, again superb, gotta admit this place is good, seriously good, and we'll worth the money. There is a preference for cash here, uphold the cash, unlike a lot of places these days where it is card only. A beautiful pub, great staff and quite lovely food, more power to your elbows guy's, good job all round, my hat comes off properly to the chef, well done mate, brilliant...

The tapas were tasty & decent sized portions. My partner had hake tagliatelle which was most enjoyable. The fruit crumble was disappointing, it was just a light sprinkle of oats over stewed berries, no crunch or depth to the crumble. We enjoyed our evening, the pub always feels cosy & welcoming

A chance discovery; following a visit to Shaldon botanical gardens we wandered down to the shoreline looking for somewhere to lunch and came across this pub. Three different ales from three local breweries (well one based in Cornwall), all well kept, and a great menu. We had the most superb Tapas lunch! Will be looking for excuses to visit Shaldon more often 😁

Sent for dinner last night with a friend. Service was impeccable and the food delicious. We ordered beef tacos and crab toast from the tapas menu for starters, then I had lamb shank which melted in the mouth and was cooked to perfection. My friend had scallop and black pudding risotto which also looked divine and she ate the lot!! We shared a salted caramel sundae for dessert which was very filling and just right after everything else. All washed down with a beautiful bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The London never disappoints!

Lovely venue with a great atmosphere. Service and food superb with a wide variety of beers/lagers and spirits including Shaldon Gin and Rum. When it says it is dog friendly, that's exactly what it means. We'll be back.

We are on holiday for a week based in Shaldon. We’ve eaten twice at the London Inn and each meal has been fantastic. We’ve never eaten at the same place twice in one week previously. We enjoyed the tapas this evening, highly recommend it. The other night we had a chicken burger and the summer tacos. Again delicious! Lovely staff and general atmosphere. We hope to be back in Shaldon soon as it has just been a perfect week. Thank you to the staff and management.

Wow! the food here is fabulous. Ate here twice, both time a variety of tapas with others and both times amazing. Lamb cofta, scallops, tacos, sausages roasted in honey and the monkfish all beautifully cooked by a chef who obviously knows what's he's doing. Great drinks and service. Couldn't ask for more.

Food is very good ,been coming to shaldon since a kid of the 80s although most the public houses are eateries sign of the times this place still has the character of an old fashioned pub/ eatery When we were kids this place was traditional working class ,now seems the place is full of people drinking wine with there little pinky in the air snobs looking down there nose ,but this establishment is very good and the food was great I'm stuck in the past and hate moving on lol from childhood memories

Took forever to get a drinks menu and then the staff treated you like you never even existed. Definitely wouldn't go back but assume the majority of their trade is from holiday makers who won't go back either, so it's not a great loss to them.

Very disappointed today been there many times and had great food. Today was average at best. Deep fried Yorkshire pudding,gravy that had been mixed with granules,chicken that was dry, old menu had parsnips and cowliflower cheese all was missing. Best thing on the menu today was the carrots. All this for £36 + Got to up your game London inn as you will lose your regular customers. By the way the service was great as usual.

Went recently with family on a Thursday and had possibly the worst meal ever. Very long wait to receive food. 2 medium rare rump steaks for £25. Well, they may have been medium rare when cooked but had obviously been kept warm for some time as they were well done and the steak knife must gave been in the oven as well as it was scochingly hot. Told the waitress - nothing, no comment, no sorry, no are you all right. Just a new knife. Likewise chips way beyond best condition. Dried up fish as well, another kept in the oven for a long time job. Couldn't in all honesty recommend this place for food.
