We came here twice as we stayed the weekend in a hotel around the corner, first day I had chips and the wife had a cheeseburger but that wasn’t to her liking because the burger was battered, that was the first time I have ever seen that before. And on the second day we had fish and chips and I have got to say that was an incredible bit of fish better than I’ve had in London. So I’m looking forward to coming back in December for Hogmanay to get some more fish and chips.

Stopped for a spot of lunch, with the wife and child and pooch, offers both indoor and outdoor seating for food. Food was hot and good value, chip butty (chips and a bread roll for those not from the north east uk) and sausage and chips they give you 2 sausages, reasonably priced very friendly staff and very welcoming, will defo go again on next holiday

Went in and asked for fish and chips. Man serving me asked me to repeat myself which I did. He then told me to speak up as he couldn't hear me. I told him I'd had to repeat myself three times. He then got angry and told me to get out of the shop. I was very embarrassed by this treatment and won't be returning.

The worst fish supper I have ever had!!! I checked out their latest reviews which were mixed but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt which was a mistake. The batter on the fish was way too thick and retained too much oil , it actually felt like plastic and tasted horrible, I ended up picking the fish out to eat it. The chips were bang average and that is me being generous . It’s a shame that the chip shop that occupies a prime spot in one of our tourist spots is so bad, I think it is just sheer laziness and arrogance as they don’t have any real competition.

I was desperate to try a standard chipper whilst I was in the UK and this business met the brief. Located close to my accommodation. The staff were super helpful as I navigated their menu. I managed to order a fish cake supper. It was exceptionally tasty and I really enjoyed it. My eyes were bigger than my tummy and I belatedly realised I should have just had the fish cakes. I also purchased a coke. I was mesmerised by their choices which are quite different to what I would get back home. Well done to this chipper for getting everything right- including their prices!

A spotless fish and chip shop. Despite the poring rain the welcome was warm. Smart looking and smart customer service. We, along with others, turned up just before they were closing but they ensured all customers got what they wanted. And they kept a smile on their faces. If that was not impressive enough the food was excellent! We will remember that meal for a long time.

Sausage suppers disgrace, horrible and dry and cold, if I wasn't for the train appearing, I would have took it back, it was DISGUSTING!

great fish n chips last night. took them down to the river and enjoyed the views whilst eating. we tried two chip shops whilst here. this one was the best!!

Was staying in balloch for a couple off day my partner and myself popped in for a fish supper. Friendly staff and the fish and chip are amazing fish and the chips where cooked perfeck

Have been using the Lomond Fish Bar for years and believe that there is nowhere near as good. their special fish if amazing and the chips are always crisp and tasty

Waited 20 mins after order for fresh fish and chips, had to wait outside due to covid restrictions, in a freezing cold night\(understand due to covid) As having to wait 20 mins expected nice fish, WRONG, myself and 2 other family members arrived home within 5mins, , the chips were cold, the fish was disgustingly greasy mainly batter, could have wrung it out like a sponge, complained following day but owner not interested, no apology, adamant they were cooked fresh, don't dispute it but hot greasy fish, they have been frying fish there for over 30yrs, how hard is it, catering for tourists., Dont think they will do well in winter with locals, should have realised why shop not busy on a saturday night

Horrible cold chips? How? Can only assume frozen chips, makes sense as when asked for a fish without batter we were told it’s bought with batter on..... what!!!

Worst fish and chips we’ve ever had. Chips were unhappy and the fish was miserable. Greasy batter and grey fish (haddock).

Absolutely the worst fish and chips I’ve had anywhere in Scotland. The fryer either doesn’t know or doesn’t care what he’s doing. A grease fest which most of ended up in the bin. Avoid.

Advertised closing time as 10. Went back of 8 and nothing left but a small bag of chips. Chips were rotten poor show.

Alongside the Train Station. On street parking. Takeaway food. Freshly prepared. Battered beef burgers, chicken,fish chips etc etc. A really top quality range of food and at a good price.

What a,HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT old dry fish that was MIRE BATTER THAN FISH!!!! chips were ok,throughly miffed as only have this treat on holiday&we wont be coming back to this chip shop again,maybe we were unlucky

This is the only fast food place that actually knows the difference between raw chips and lovely chips. I'll never buy from a different local chippy again!! There's usually a cue but it's worth the wait.

I went in for fish and chips, the staff are well presented and very good, the food was delicious, its worth a visit if your in Balloch.

Every time we visit and we live locally you need to wait for them to put your order on and wait 10/15 mins for it. For the location next to a very busy train station there is never anything ready it’s like they wait till...

Called in on the speck as we were hungry but glad we did as the fish and chips were really tasty. Had to wait a little while but it was worth it. Prices were very reasonable and would recommend them when in the area.

Well priced, ample portions and well cooked Fish and Chips. Not the fastest but worth being patient for. The London’s is much busier than its near neighbour. Says it all.

Cant really give you a reveiw about the food as after a 10 minute wait behind 4 customers i still hadn.t been asked what i wanted. The 2 ladies in front of me had just been asked after my 10 minutes so god knows how long they had been waiting. The problem is the 2 lady staff members behind the counter are totally incompitent. It seemed they asked 1 person what they wanted . waited till the order was made then got round to asking the next person. There was signs on the wall saying that the food was freshly made per order but come on ....... would it not be quicker to cook 6 fish at 6pm on a saturday instead of 1 at a time. I walked out in digust.

Visited on a wet Monday evening in May travelled by car there is plenty of street parking nearby. A bit of a queue when I turned up (good sign) I got fish and chips and sausage and chips exellent value £3,60 for the sausage and chips the fish and chips was £5 odd for2 pieces of fish or £3.80 for one piece. I opted for one piece and it was a decent size. It has got to be one of the if not the cheapest chippys in the area.

We weary from travelling so just wanted a quick meal.

Went in to this chippy for fish and chips to eat before boarding a train to Glasgow. Monday night, 18:30 - fish was in a rancid, very greasy batter. By the time I’d walked across the road and had one bite, I decided to lob it in the large bin opposite the chippy at the station entrance. I ate the chips; they were ok. I believe people will wait to get freshly fried produce, so why do chippies like this one batch-fry dross and serve it up to paying customers after it has been sitting in the hot cabinet for ages. No point in complaining to the staff in the gaff at the time - if they can’t see they are serving up very substandard fare, they won’t get my money again

After a 20 minute wait we left with just our fish and some of our money back....our chips were apparently destined for the man BEHIND us in the question! Really poorly staffed and organised! 20 mins should be ample time to make some chips surely?! Not impressed!

Poor ... just poor. Both in service and food quality. 20 min wait and to top it off they served their friends behind us first and almost made us miss the train. Just poor and disappointing. So much so that I am ACTUALLY writing a review for a chippy. That’s how pissed off I was!

Very busy good food service with a smile just what you need from a chippy, fish was excellent just need another 7 characters.

This is my local take-away chippie and offers the usual range of fried food. The portion sizes are huge and the prices reasonable. There's always a small queue waiting so the food is freshly cooked and the banter in the queue while waiting is marvellous. For visitors from abroad I couldn't recommend a better place to get a taste of real Scotland!

Some of the best fish & chips and battered sausage and chips (fish supper and sausage supper) we've had. Staff extremely friendly, portions very generous and food most reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

Decent food, decent price. Wait wasn't too long to be served, food was hot and very tasty. Plenty of locals coming here too which is a good sign.

Phoned in order was presented quickly on arrival and food was excellent and price very reasonable remained hot due to insulation of wrapping was exceptionally hot when arrived back at cameron house 10 - 15 minutes journey

Went out a wee road trip tonight with family and visited the Lomond Fish bar in Balloch so glad we went nicest fish supper I have had in a long time. And the staff are so friendly and welcoming.

Good chip shop beside the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, plus the train station. Very good fish, quick service and often a queue out the door, which is a good sign as it shows how popular here is. Lots of locals going here. So looking for something as a tourist this is a good sign. Good varied menu fish, pies, sausage, etc etc

We visit this beautiful area every year and this is our go to place for a fish supoer. The locals we've spoken to feel the same. Yes you may have to wait but that means freshness.

The quality of the food was okay but we were disappointed with the portion size. Perhaps that was because the person served before us appeared to be a regular and got a massive portion?I suppose the shortfall has to be made up somewhere.Disappointing experience overall.

This store by far sells the cheapest fish and chips we've come across. We paid 7.20 pounds for two servings of fish and chips. They also sell two pieces of fish at 4.60 and chips separately. The quality of the food was OK, chips were pretty good and the fish batter was crispy and moist inside. The only negative point about this is that they only open after 4pm.

Had the best fish and chip I have had in Scotland here. Fresh delicious fish in crispy batter and perfect chips. Staff was very friendly and fast. The meal was reasonable as well. I would recommend this place to everyone!

This was our first visit for takeaway and will definitely go again. Chips were lovely and portion sizes very generous.There could be a few better vegetarian options but what we had was very good.

My husband and I went here and asked for a very simple order. 1 fish supper and 1 haggis supper. Prices looked good but when we got home having tried to keep our supper dry as they don't provide a bag, my husband had been given sausages instead of fish. Maybe if the woman behind the counter had been in slightly less of a hurry to shove people out the door, she might have got it right. While she was taking payment from us she was chatting to another customer. That's just rude. And it's not representative of the way most people spoke to us in Balloch which is a lovely little place.

We used to drive all the way to Paisley/Largs for the best chippy, great news we have now found one on our door step and all you lucky tourist can sample it as it near the train station in Balloch, the batter to die for and its all very fresh, like all good things you have to queue :( as it popular LOL.Fish is awsome! Fritters are so yummy and my diet stuffed!

Fish is fresh and nice and white , batters crispy the fish stays together doesn't break up all over your chips , probably the best fish supper iv had in a long time and it's cheaper than my usual Glasgow chippys ,

This the best fish and chip shop in the whole area. Freshly cooked fish and lovely crispy chips. Had lots of stuff off the menu and it's all good. Staff are great too always smiling and laughing.

The Lomond Fish Bar sits next to the railway station and we managed to eat our meal in the waiting room before the train home arrived. The chippy staff are friendly and we had only a short wait for fresh chips. They are well organised and help you order in advance. No inside or outside seating. Plenty of parking next to the tourist information centre.

I found it when coming back to the train station after my trip to the Loch Lomond and having seen their menu I decided I must try something before my train goes. I was so lucky to have enough time to taste various meals. Everything was very good. It wasn´t the best I have ever eaten, but definitely worths trying.

Stayed for a week in Balloch and I think we went here twice, it was that good, the chips were crispy, big and good, the fish was succulent, sweet and juicy, the chicken nuggets were actually chicken and not that mushed up stuff so I was chuffed, the staff were super polite and oh so helpful, one night we went in at about half past nine and they made us the food from fresh which was excellent so I would suggest you go here for the best chips in scotland( just my humble opinion)

All our food was made fresh to order. They got order wrong but we didn't bother saying anything as we didn't notice until it was made and was already in the box. We ordered 2 half pizza suppers but they gave us pizza crunch suppers, although they were quite good it wasn't what we wanted. We would go back here.

This is the best chippy in Balloch although sometimes you have to wait for fresh fish and chips but it is far superior to the other one further up the road

Had a day out in Loch Lomond and on the way home went for a walk around balloch...asked a local to recommend a chippy and he sent us here...had a cheeseburger and chips. . Was nice and chips were very warm .. Second visit to balloch and much preferred this chippy to the one up the road that we tried last time

Called in here for our tea time meal one large fish and chips and one small fish and chips. The large had two fish and the small one fish .... however between the three fish we got 50 plus bones out of them. . Also the chip's were dried out. . The best thing was the BARR'S pineapple crush we got . Give the fish a miss. ...

Situated right by Balloch railway station in the centre of Balloch is this family run chippy. It is lovely and clean and food is cooked to order so it's always fresh and hot.

Hi went in for very last time today Again had to wait 15_20 mins for chips to cook Four young foreign kids in from made orders and were panicking as there train was about to leave The old guy doing frying has two speeds dead slow and dead Kids missed train My turn asked and paid for bag the lady serving put my food in a used bag an handled frozen food and change without washing her hands My advice invest some of your profits in up to date larger dryers and retire the old guy Sorry only the truth pop in and see for yourselves

3 Sausage suppers, 1 Fish supper and a chip roll, plus 5 bars of chocolate snacks for £21.30 cannot be bad! The food from the Lomond Fish Bar is always great. Well cooked, fresh and tasty every time. Good value for money. It can be very busy at times and the queue often goes out the door, but it is worth the wait. I would highly recommend it.

All day as we came and went there was a que out of the door. So i waited until after 9.30pm to eat there. It looked a lot better than it tasted. But i am from a seaside resort where the fish is so fresh and tasty. Then again this was cheap

Probably the worst fish I have tasted! Sorry guys but your batter needs to be light and seasoned with flavour and your fish needs to be fresh. So disappointed with it last night. It was bland and tasteless. Served by someone fairly disinterested and short and to the point. To be asked : what are ya waaantin? Really put me off!! God help the tourists visiting balloch and looking for a tasty Scottish experience. Gordon Ramsay would not be impressed !!!

Simple food baked best. I had the scampi and chips but did not had to wait for to long and it was good stuff. Well baked without dripping with oil good scampi and good tartare sauce. I would go there again!

Just love this chippy. You can order your favourite meal and the have a wee chat while you wait. The banter can be pure dead brilliant just like the food.

Surprised given the location how good value it was, the food was good but the wait was rather long but worth it in the end. Good local food and worth a return visit.

This is one of the best fish and chip shops in the Balloch area everything served fresh good portions and very reasonably priced

Arrived on busy bank hol for a fish supper and pakora. It was busy however we did not have our order taken till we had waited 20mins in the queue and got to the till. When we gave our order we were told first they didn't think they had pakora left then that they did but we would have to wait a while. By the two female staffs scouling looks they did not want to fulfil our order. We got our fish supper and left. This establishment does not seem to want repeat custom. We will not be back due to such unfriendly service. The fish supper wasn't too bad though if you can put up with the service.

We stopped here for a quick dinner, and we ordered just the traditional fish and chips. It was cheap, but the taste of the fish was great! We didn't wait as others, maybe because we were lucky. Highly recommended!

A long queue on Easter Sunday as its opposite the train station so day trippers from Glasgow make it busy but not too bad and it's well worth the wait. Excellent fish and chips for the family!
