Lockerbie Truck Stop in Dumfries & Galloway

Absolutely gutted to find this place had ceased trading, since our last visit in August 22. This hidden gem was part of our journey down south for the past 7 years, after stumbling on it by accident. It offered a hearty meal for a fraction of the price they charge, at a service station

We were very pleased to find this gem of a place to have evening meal and breakfast so close to where we were staying. We stayed at Days Inn at Annandale Motorway Services. Prices are very affordable. Portions are huge. Food is vey good and Truck Stop is very clean. Staff are lovely. Will definitely return.

Parked up overnight, prices are £17 or £22 with a £5 meal voucher, had a very tasty home cooked meal the first evening and due to the quality of that meal I decided to have breakfast in the morning, that was also equally as good.

Wow! Better quality than most country pubs! And superb value! We stopped here on our way to Scotland after struggling to find anywhere serving food with good reviews. My husband suggested it and I wasn't sure if I'm honest. We came with our two young kids, and were amazed at how good it was. I had a lasagne (including chips and salad) my husband had steak pie (huge chunks of steak and really good), and the kids had a meal off the kids menu (choices were chicken nuggets, fish fingers, macaroni cheese or sausage) and they had chips and beans with it. It cost us less than £30 for 4 meals, 4 drinks and 3 puddings. The kids meals came with a fruit shoot and they had ice cream for pudding too. Staff were super friendly and the place was really clean. It reminds me a bit of a school canteen however the food was better quality than most pubs, and huge portions that even I couldn't finish. The food was worth at least £10+ a meal, I wouldn't be disappointed paying £15 either. Clean toilets too! Will definitely return!

Parked up at 20.30 after a long day just needed food and sleep. Was about 200 yards from shop where I had to pay for parking and it was raining. I decided I would pay in morning, so put my tea on when I had a load bang on door of cab. It was security asking if I’d paid but not in a nice way a very aggressive way ! I explained what I was doing and instead of being ok with idea he decided to tar me with you can’t your basically a thief and proceeded to take photos of my truck. Until then I’ve had no problem with this establishment but I would advise them to train there staff to a at least human standard with man management skills and a little understanding. Plus know Tacho regulations as after being disturb I had to add another hour on to my break which made me late for delivery the following day ! So thanks very much Herman Goebels ! Your not at the top of my Xmas card list !

THe Hgv parking is emmence. Showers are brilliant and always clean. . great. Variety of food on the menu available 24 hours a day.

Decided to call on our way to Glasgow. What a find. Absolutely brilliant. Lovely and clean friendly staff and delicious food. Well recommended.

Finding somewhere safe & quiet to park is hard enough for truck drivers but somewhere as good as this with excellent food & drinks is a god send. Perfect for the main Scotland to England West coast route. Reasonable prices for good quality & clean, decent facilities.

Stopped at johnstone bridge services for the night and found Lockerbie truck stop. Absolutely fantastic, great portion sizes at a very reasonable price. Had to go for a pudding too lots of choice and at £2.75 a bargain Friendly staff and very welcoming. Forgot to get pics of main course

What a fantastic hidden gem. Super service, friendly and welcoming. Great food and delicious puddings. Will definitely visit again.

Surprisingly gpood place to set up base when visiting the region, with accessible, dog friendly cottages and reasonably priced hotel accommodation. Food was good and the shop offered most things you might need for self catering.

My husband and my cousin visited here two weeks ago. Absolutely fantastic place. Very clean and tidy. Excellent variety on the menu. We all opted for the all day breakfast. We can thoroughly recommend it. The food was freshly cooked. Coffee/tea and 2 slices of toast included in price. Lovely, friendly staff. Will be very happy to visit again.

I have to say although this is a Truck Stop a lot of locals use it too, all their food is home-cooked and very affordable and very good portions, home-cooked chips and all fresh...if you like your gammon then you won't find better, all the food is excellent give it a go you won't be disappointed.

Stopped here by the off chance,a lovely place to stay ended up staying here twice in one week . As a HGV driver it’s not often you find places like this ,I found it very quite fantastic food (steak pie),friendly staff,right little gem...give it a try.

As a HGV driver this a welcome place to park and have a break with decent food. Staff always friendly and helpful, a welcome break from the faceless multi nationals on the direct motorways. Even the small shop sells at fair prices also a welcome change from getting ripped off at other places. Always my preferred choice if times and route dictate.

Not a fancy restaurant but you know what you get when get inside. Lots of truck drivers and locals eating and great atmosphere. Bacon rolls and steak pie were excellent!

We were in for a meal, 1 homemade mac chees with chips and fresh salad homemade coldslaw. My girlfriend raves about the mac cheese here.

In the last couple of weeks the food has went downhill think there is new cooks and there braised steak was terrible you would have needed a chain saw to cut it the gravy was also stuck to the plate and the potatoes were disgusting.

Been once before enjoyed snap decision 15/05 to go again not wrong full breakfast tea 2 toast couldn't fault it staff also helpful great value for money

We have split our journey here a few times now, in the past the food has been very good staff friendly etc, not sure if they have changed cooking people but the food at best average this stay. We couldn’t get a table as they had a local event going on so we opted for a takeaway,both had chicken with pasta in tomato sauce with garlic bread, garlic bread not cooked in oven , soggy mush from the microwave, pasta nothing special I’m afraid and not worth £6.50. We then went for breakfast and both order the full English, the fried eggs were way overdone so basically boiled! Left it toast stone cold left it, the rest was edible. Staff all busy nattering and having breakfast themselves so not interested in checking if all ok, sorry guys standards slipped and will try somewhere new on our way home.

Staying at the Days Inn motel at Annandale services we had seen reviews for the Truck Stop and as the food offerings at the services were less than thrilling and expensive we thought we'd give it a try. The place was doubtlessly clean, staff friendly and food freshly prepared and very good value (couldn't finish my plate!). The steak pie was particularly good, and came with a selection of well cooked veg so no chips if you don't want them. We were so pleased with the food that we returned for two breakfasts and another evening meal. Hoping to move not far away as our trip was to view potential houses so I am sure we will be back in the cafe again!

we live in lockerbie and go here sometimes for a meal, really reasonable prices and great food, must try if your passing..

We travel down the M74/M6 very often, and came upon this gem of a place by accident, on one of our journeys. It is clean, food piping hot and quickly served, and excellent value. We pass a motorway services to get to to this place and save ourselves a fortune into the bargain. The toilet facilities are clean. What more can you wish for.

Come here now and again to meet up with friends. Food always excellent, freshly made and piping hot. Heard some lorry drivers complain about the length of time they had to wait for their food as their 45 min break was nearly over before the food came. As this is a truck stop I think that lorry drivers orders should be put at the top of the pile.

Went on Saturday 8th December 2018 what a great night even if they don't have what you want on the menu just ask, could not do enough for you. Great entertainment keep it up.

Stopped here for lunch, good size portions and hearty, nice warming soup, and reasonable prices. All in a clean, quite cafe. Plenty of parking

We stayed at a nearby cottage for 2 weeks and discovered Lockerbie Truck Stop through my brother who is a HGV driver. As he says if a trucker doesn't like a place he doesn't go back. We visited 3 times and every time we had a home made well cooked meal. Today we also had marshmallow and toffee cheesecake which was divine! It has a varied menu, a very reasonable priced childrens menu and offers very competitive rates on food pricing. They also have a bar from 6pm and my husband was delighted with the price of the Guinness at £3 plus a pint! If you are wanting a good priced meal which is home made and with pleasant servers who deliver a meal quickly I don't think this place can be beaten on value. The washrooms are pleasant and there is a shower area for truckers and travellers on the way to the Highlands. I would thoroughly recommend.

I am vegetarian and didn’t offer a good meal had to have jacket potato again 😩. But it was a good one I have to say 👍

The breakfast was ok, not the best I've ever had but it's easy and quick. Price was quite high for the quality. All the staff were friendly and the toilets were nice and clean.

On our way to Aberdeen and Inverness in RV parked here as husband used before. Went into the cafe and had mince pie with mash and peas x2 tasty hot food served very quickly. Friendly staff and good clean facilities, great place for truckers and folk alike, highly recommend

We parked up here for a night stop after a long day driving. We had something to eat and used the showers.

used this truck stop to eat while staying at local Days inn, which has limited catering.Perfect choice with varied menu , great prices, and served with a smile ,just what we needed on our journey north, no wonder hotel staff recommend., although not a fast food outlet meal are served in very good time!

Visited en route north. Toilets were clean and easily accessible even disabled toilet. Initial access was difficult due to ongoing works. If using the breakfast shop here allow a long time as service is sooooooo slow. Nearly half an hour in a queue for an overpriced bacon roll.

Hi Guys could not believe my partner took me on holiday to lockerbie truck park, stayed in a cottage for the workmen lorry drivers to be precise, But i have to say the Truck Stop restaurant has only homemade Quality Fod evn down o their Soup every meal i had fro them was so very nice and most important the Quality of the food was FAB so please just try it Thankyou Jacqueline Glasgow

We ate here recently couldn't fault it. Homemade steak pie was to die for. Massive helpings all other food looked good, place is very tidy and loads of locals use it regularly, only £15 for two large main meals and 2 cokes. Far better and cheaper than motorway services and only a few minutes very easy detour.

Big truck parckingspace, quite in weekend 24h open. Good food friendly staff Rooms availleble. 18e a night incl. 5e foodvoucher. No dkv or uta excepted. Free wifi Good place

I’ve never used the truck park but I’ve used the cafe. It’s a short hop from Annandale Water services which doesn’t have a cafe unless you want MacDonalds or Costa. The breakfast is well worth a bash and there’s a haggis option too..... Definitely recommend it

Started work 1am Friday 8th September at Dingwall mart, travelled south and delivered Carlisle and on the way back north decided to call in at Lockerbie truckstop for a carry out. I ordered 2 sausage sandwiches and was quickly on my way . Washed out...

Used the facilities for a training course for up to ten people , good service from the staff throughout the day with excellent food and refreshments. Excellent parking , clean and secure. Definitely use again.

Good food, good prices, good service. Good facilities. If you want a quick stop that is gaurenteed to be open & is not going to cost the earth you can't beat this place.

It's basic, there's no table cloths and your tea comes in big mugs - it's a truck stop, what do you expect? What you get is reasonably priced, simple food in good sized portions that's cooked to order and available 24 hours a day. Much better than a motorway service station and much cheaper. There's also a small shop for essentials.Accommodation is available in the main building - again it's basic (not ensuite and the showers are on another floor) but if you're on a budget it's worth considering.Find it by leaving the A74(M) at Junction 16 (Johnstonebridge) and then heading south for about 2 miles on the B7076.

HQ for a 3 day event at the weekend, use of the accommodation and the truck area. Good size portions of good homemade food 24 hours, made fresh when it is ordered. Clean through out, staff friendly and helpful, if in area again would stop, already have friends who use it regular.

Had lunch here after visiting the truck show hosted by local vehicle club. Even though there was a short queue (expected due to event), there was not a huge weight for the hot food. Great prices for quality food. If looking for good meal would recommend here in comparison to nearby service station. Main eating area looked clean even though it was busy and even toilet areas were clean - cleaner than some busier tourist areas we have been.

Family break with two families and a dog, all combined there were 10 of the group with four adults.The accommodation was clean, warm and a great place to chill and relax. The host (Stevie) was great making sure we were comfortable and had everything we required. He then let us enjoy our break, didn't pester us and was only a call away if we had an issue.Wood burner was great, central heating throughout this large four bedroom cottage. It even had a pull out pool table for the kids.In the large kitchen area you had everything you needed to cook, all utensils imaginable with plenary plates and cutlery for as I said a large group.There was a truck stop next door which didn't effect us through noise. In there you had a bar with Sky/BT sports, it had a pool table which was great. Cafe, shop which was open till 9pm.The grounds was made of of old farmhouses redeveloped into more cottages so again larger family could have there own next door.I would book again and recommend to anyone. 20mins from Gretna, 10 minutes to Lockerbie town centre for shops etc. Loads to do around the area with fishing, shooting, petting farms etc.Great break

Have stopped here a few times and we always get great service and food. Free wi-fi and a truckers shop selling all kinds of needs. The breakfast is always piping hot and huge.

Hungry and on our way home stopped for something to eat.Hearty Homemade meals.pleasant staff.The cleanest toilets I've ever seen.

Love this place when I am delivering in Scotland i always try to make it back here for the night to park up great food showers everything a truck driver needs at the end of a hard days drive

Called in just by chance between jobs and didn't know what to expect as not a truck driver, but what was going to be a quick bite turned into a full dinner as the special board had Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and we were not disappointed just extremely full, so much so I'll have to go back another time for pudding!!! Great value for money, big plate, piping hot, £1 for mug of tea, clean tidy seating and nice toilets & change out of £20 for two people.

Had dinner here, we were staying at the Days Inn just up the road, this truck stop was recommended, good home cooked food on a budget.

We stayed recently at pheasant cottage just near Lockerbie Truck Stop, and we went there often. It has free WiFi, nice food and the tea is great as well.

Just eaten here in a complete and utter hungover mess, went for a standard bacon roll, must say it was absolutely amazing, 10/10 would eat againMy mate went for chips and cheese roll, looked great, he enjoyed, smashing The photo below shows a small portion however my friend had already eaten about 2/3 of it by the time I took the photo

We have been here a few times, however I wouldn't rush back, the food is average, they have a large menu, portion size is good.

Stayed at the nearby Best Western who wanted £12 each for breakfast decided to eat here instead and was glad we did! £6 each for a full Scottish breakfast & drink. Generous portion and they did me an awesome vegetarian breakfast!

Myself and 3 to 4 others belong to the Federation for Tenants and Residents of Dumfries & Galloway. When we do our road shows during the year, we always go to Lockerbie Truck Stop for lunch, between visiting Lochmaben am and Lockerbie,pm with our Information Vehicle. We have always found the staff in the restaurant and shop area to be most helpful, food is good quality, of a good quantity and presented well. All at a very reasonable cost.

Called in here for a breakfast, great food, well cooked, and although the eating area could have been a wee bit tidier, the food came quickly and was delicious.The service was very polite and efficient, and it was quite busy when we called, always a good sign!Will definitely consider eating here again when in the area.

Always welcoming, clean and with great food. Also there's a well stocked little shop too. Highly recommended to anyone passing through or who lives in the area. Keep up the good work!

This was a wonderful surprise to find. The quality of the customer service was outstanding. Everyone especially Kay was amazingly friendly. I stayed with them on the way up to the highlands and on the way down also. I just wish there were more places like this. A real gem.The food was delicious and there was plenty of it and they could not do enough to meet my needs.Many establishments should look at this place as an example of good practice. Thank you to all for 2 wonderful stays. I cannot rate this place highly enough.

This is so much better than any other services on the m74. Yes it means that you have to come of the motorway to take the Lockerbie service road (can't remember the road number). But it runs next to the m74 motorway. They sell lots of good home cooking. Nothing fancy but good quality food. Their hot filled rolls are great. There cooked breakfasts look great. They also do lunch and dinner. But I've not been there at those time. It is very clean, feels very safe and friendly. Much much better than overpriced bland services.

I drive all over the country as an HGV driver and Lockerby truck stop is one of the best truck stops in the UK, i have had breakfast and diners there and the Steak and Ale pie is one of the best i had tasted, i will continue to visit on my way north or if north south.

No excuse needed for a visit to this place. From breakfast through to dinner (which I have sampled) is excellent value. Service is great and food is mostly home cooked. Used by many locals which speaks volumes. Highly reccommend.

This is a very clean and tidy cafe with everything on the menu you would expect along with some tasty sounding home-made options.We stuck to the staple all day breakfast, which was perfectly fine and good value. Service was friendly and efficient and I have no hesitation on recommending this as a good place to stop. Whereas I would probably rate the food as a 3+ I reckon the place deserves a 4 because of the clear effort they make re keeping it spotlessly clean.

This is exactly what you want from a truck stop. We were travelling on motorbikes and literally passed the door so dropped in. Food was good - straightforward and lots of it, the same as the coffee. Nice staff who served us as well and good value for money. A lot better than most motorway service stations in almost every regard.

We had just arrived in the UK and we were starving for a full breakfast. Saw this on Trip Advisor so gave it a shot. The meal was excellent and great value. Keep your ears closed though, it is a truck stop after all! If you are looking for a more conventional restaurant this is not for you.

I stopped for breakfast from a recommendation from a friend, was pleasantly surprised, food was absolutely lovely and filled me up, next time I'm on the M74 I'll be stopping again

When in Lockerbie we always stop for a meal, spotless place to eat and the steak pie with a choice of puff or shortcrust pastry is luxury where you least expect it. Every meal choice from breakfast to supper is tasty, open 24 hours seven days a week. Friendly staff, well presented food and filling, Cheap rooms if needed. may be a truck stop but it's a hidden gem.

A very friendly Truckstop, lovely food nice relaxing atmosphere. After a long day on the road it's a welcome site,on a 2 am shift on Shell Bitumen . Well done Great place!!!

We usually stop here for breakfast on a weekend after 3 hours in the car. It is a breakfast stop to look forward to.Freshly cooked and plenty of it. No frills food and truck stop prices.The facilities are excellent and the staff are very helpful.

Great Truck Stop which is miles above the rest. Superb showers and very clean toilets also. Fantastic menu with the steak pie a must. Lovely bite size chunks of steak in a smooth gravey, lovely pastry and cracking potatoes....sensibly priced for a large helping. Plenty other amazing choices on the menu including salads of which I am not a great fan but looked good. This Truck Stop is an example to all the others in our roads network.... wake up people and learn from Lockerbie..... forgot to mention the acres of parking and fueling facilities also available..

If you are looking for a scottish breakfast this is the best place in the area! It is consistently good and I the service is quick.

I was their for the weekend very good to have a Truckstop which is open 24/7 so you can use the facilities anytime not like most truckstops which shut Saturday lunch and your left with no food it's good to have somewhere which realises lorry drivers don't finish work saturday

Stopped hear on the way to Glasgow on New Year's Eve for breakfast. Full Scottish toast & tea. Very nice & good friendly service. I will be back

I have been eating there for years as a night driver, not I'm on days I have had a few nights out here. You can have a drink in the bar with your meal or enjoy a pint in the cafe area whilst eating. Food is very very good especially the steak pie. Try this place you won't be disappointed !!

Been going up and down the 74 for years and rather stupidly have only just found this place . staff so friendly and food was perfect , quality and at a reasonable price, and freshly cooked no MSA re heats hear .Will be coming back next time am passing

The service, staff, cleanliness and food quality. I had a salad, not food generally available at Truck Stops. It was very fresh and enjoyable.Definitely worth going off the motorway for!

I brought my kid here for his 13th birthday and let a trucker show him some tricks. But i was annoyed at the toilets as there was man mess spread against the walls so i had to hover over the seat and i have really bad back pain now. but all and all it was a great experience. Thanks :)

Love the food, prices are very reaonable, good place to stop off on a long journey to eat and drink. We live not too far from here and do visit regularly, its clean, staff are friendly and you can buy snacks and your daily papers too
