Lock & Quay Bar/ Restaurant in Hillingdon

We came to a family party held at The Lock and Quay. Fantastic venue, right on the canal - Fantastic food and ambience - great evening. They have live bands throughout the year which we can’t wait to come to - highly recommend. Food was amazing .

The service here was abysmal. We had moved out of the area several years ago, and went there because it had been our favourite place to go, and were so disappointed. The place was not busy, in fact mostly empty and I stood at the bar being ignored by three members of staff for about 10 minutes before I was asked if I was being dealt with. I paid in cash, £20 for a £16.20 bill and the barmaid had to ask someone how much change she should give! Not made welcome at all.

What a hidden gem! It was my first visit here and I had a lovely time here with my family for my daughter's 15th birthday. It was a really quiet Monday night dinner service and we booked a dome. The waitress was lovely - really friendly and attentive. Food was also great. I told her it was my daughters birthday mid meal and she put a little candle on her brownie dessert, which was a really nice touch. I'll be back for one of your soul nights!

Extremely rude staff, very unprofessional, very impolite and can’t believe the way they speak to customers who are in fact paying their wages! Please avoid this place and don’t waste your money. The food is not worth anywhere near what they are charging, I can eat in much nicer places than hayes and pay less! Will stick to Marlow in future

Our first Xmas dinner at the lock and Quay what can I say presentation of the tables was excellent. The food was outstanding. Everything was on point and the staff were absolutely outstanding so attentive to each and every table Denise, the manager worked so hard with her team to make sure Christmas Day was perfect and she delivered that 100%. All I can say is well done. We had a chef with us and he said the food was 100% on point. Well done you must be so proud really made our Christmas thank you

Poor food tonight but expensive for poor quality. Steak very chewy, triple cooked chips burnt, soggy but really potato wedges. To top it all of a service charge for reasonable service.

We came here for an early dinner last Saturday, we dont come from the area but my son plays football nearby every week, so we just wanted to find somewhere nice on the way back. Relatively easy to find and plenty of parking (be aware you need to register your vehicle in the restaurant - although the system was not working when we went). Looks lovely from the outside, on the edge of the canal. There are also pod options which we will book next time we come (they look lovely). I believe these are an extra £45 and seat around 8. The place was quiet, but the staff were friendly and welcoming. Nice and clean inside, not over fussy and very open plan. Main courses were good, big portions and reasonably priced. Jerk chicken burger was lovely, and the kids meals were decent and well priced at around £7. Two slight niggles -we orders the cheesy garlic flatbread to share for a starter, and assumed for £7 it might be one of those plate sized round ones...however we received 3 small pieces between the four of us! Very tasty but definitely not value for money, so will avoid that item in future. I also found it very odd that the kids puddings were (give or take 50p) the same price as the adult puddings and as the kids mains, at around £6.50-£7. No idea who came up with this pricing strategy but it doesnt work for most families where the kids just want a couple of scoops of ice cream, or a smaller desert. The desert should not be the same price as the main course!! That said, we did enjoy our experience and will come back in the future to try out one of the pods, as this place is definitely worth eating at.

This was the first visit for a while and this year too and whilst the food was good, I received a parking ticket as did other members of my group who were dining with me. When I returned to Lock & Quay to ask why I received a ticket as parking is free, I was told that car registrations had to be put on a pad, which on my return was now at the entry (doorway) to the restaurant and bar, which also had a notice that if car details were not entered you will get £100 PCN. A pad and notice that was NOT in this position or visible on the day we were at the restaurant!! Furthermore, this has only come into force since January, what I was told when I returned, hence why I would have been totally unaware and even more so, because it was not visible at all. What was more alarming and upsetting, is that the woman I spoke to when I returned insisted, wanted to argue that the pad with the notice was there, when I and who was in the restaurant with me catagorically stated too that it was not. Then it changed to being told, then maybe somone was standing in front of it...standing in front of it where!! Their behaviour drew the attention of other customers who were not impressed about how I was treated, including being told it is too much of a hassel to sort, get the PCN cancelled. Such poor customer service. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Lovely spot, tranquil and picturesque, little tricky to find. Once we'd made our choices (first two unavailable sadly) service was quick, efficient, cheerful and friendly. Food was delicious and plentiful, Caesar Salad and Lamb Shank. Too full for pudding!

We returned to the Lock & Quay yesterday, our wedding anniversary, for the first time in a long time. The whole experience was, as always before, an absolute delight. The new decor is amazing. The standard of service very high and the food was wonderful. My wife had the fillet steak with fries and I had plain old fish & chips (hand-cut). Neither could be faulted. Our experience can only be described as absolutely superb and we both look forward to getting back there on a regular basis.

Went on a frantic search for a roast nearby & found this gem online. Being local, we hadn’t been round this way in over 10 years but were pleasantly surprised by the refurb & quality! Great service & even better food. Honestly hadn’t expected such an incredible Sunday roast! The manager was extremely helpful & abided by covid guidelines & got a last minute table for 6 of us. The food was seasoned fantastically. Massive yorkie, sweet potato mash, perfectly roasted potatoes - I could go on! Huge portion sizes & extremely reasonably priced. We all had the chicken roast & everyone had a great meal.There was a live singer outside & the ambience was lovely. We’ve found our new local roast & couldnt be happier! Been back after lockdown and we immediately realised that the new owner put lot of effort to inprove the place facilities. Service and food are absolutely outstanding (the burghers are AMAZING). Definitely recommend this place for a quite family meal or just for a drink.

Came to visit with a group of friends plus our children. Booked a table with their booking system which stated you got the table for 3h if you are 7 or more. We ordered food, desserts and cocktails. Half way when having our drinks we got told that we had to leave soon and 2 min later the lady got back and told us “sorry but you have to leave now” when I showed her the 3 h slot she got confused and said open table has made up that themselves. She clearly was rude and unprofessional just wanted new guest to arrive just in time for happy hour. She told us to stay after I’ve showed her the booking policy and after few more minutes she came back and wanted to see the email again. We had another 30 min on our booking but then decided to leave as it wasn’t nice at all.Drinks were nice and food was avarage.

As many plans were ruined this year due to covid restrictions, I found myself home alone on Christmas day. I ordered a 3 course Christmas Dinner from lock and Quay which was delivered dead on time by a lovely lady. It was absolutely delicious and they even sent me some extra turkey slices for turkey sandwiches. I also appreciated the extra touch of including a little bottle of prosecco. They have gone over and above my expectations and would like to congratulate and thank the team for making my day. Best of all, no washing up!!! Thank and and well done L&Q.

I visited the Lock&Quay on the marina at Yeading last night and had a fabulous time with my 90 year old neighbour and a friend. We had Christmas meal with all the trimmings. Huge meal, the best Turkey I have ever tasted and the potatoes were second to none. The Christmas decorations are amazing and the staff went out of their way to make our evening the best. I would highly recommend this restaurant which has excellent social distancing and covid protection in place. It’s such a lovely ambience right on the waters edge and totally off road. An absolute hidden gem worth visiting. Ruth x

Not sure how there are not loads of 5 star reviews on Lock & Quay's takeaway Sunday Roasts, just had one today and it was absolutely amazing, everything was perfect, from ordering to collecting to eating .. the carrot puree was sooo good, vegetables cooked to perfection, gravy absolutely delicous and all hot enough to just dish up and eat, do yourselves a favour and give yourself a day off of spending hours in the kitchen, Lock & Quay have got it so right and good luck to them for coming up with this idea in these strange times, will 100% be ordering again! 4 of us had Sunday lunch here. The food was great (3 chose vegan nut roast and 1 fish and chips) and the service was friendly and efficient. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside as it was a relatively warm day in mid October and have to say that the whole COVID thing was done very well indeed. The customers indoors looked happy with that side of things too. Add all this to a really quirky and interesting location ( a canal marina full of narrowboats) and this is an excellent choice which we will visit again.

Went here with my girlfriend and was seated in the back of the restaurant was so Hot she was going to faint was moved outside to a sticky table around smokers not suitable for eating. Ordered the burgers £14 was a complete rip off there was nothing on the burgers just a bun and a cold overcooked burger and some dead tomato sauce. Coleslaw was wet and had water at the bottom would not recommend.

We have been coming to this lovely canalside venue for many years and decided to try it again post lockdown. The app was fairly easy to use to order and pay and the service was rapid. But...clearly they hadn't read the notes about ice with the drink which they quickly remedied. Service has always been friendly, tonight was no exception and their covid safety was excellent.I ordered chicken bites...which you may imagine was breaded chicken pieces ... unfortunately it was a small number of pieces of chicken smothered in at least vindaloo level of chili. Throat aflame, I downed my pint. I tried to wipe the lethal sauce off and tried one more piece. I couldn't tell you how it tasted, my taste buds were fried.Now I am sure many people would have enjoyed the tonsil trauma I endured, but it would really have been better to describe them as VERY HOT, not just 'Chicken Bites' , they certainly bit me !Lovely location, swans and herons, water and barges, but avoid this firecracker dish unless you have a cast iron throat and stomach, and get some moist toilet tissue at home!

Had a lovely family lunch here today. The service was very good, lovely staff who were very personable/friendly. Great varied menu and reasonably priced plus portion sizes were ample. All the meals were lovely and tasty. Great quality ingredients. The restaurant itself was clean and well presented. The surrounding area was very quiet and tranquil its a little oasis and you can forget you are in Hayes. It was a very relaxing experience watching the swans and boats go by in the sunshine. Couldn't find any faults. The restaurant also has live music on the weekends, great Sunday roasts, comedy nights and quiz nights so they try hard to draw in the crowds. Definitely worth a visit.

Attended an Only Fools and 3 courses interactive dinner show to celebrate my mum’s Birthday. So well organised and considering it was a limited menu for the evening, there was something for everyone and the food was fabulous (as it always is here).Great location by the canal for a nice afternoon or evening in the summer with highly attentive staff.

Visited here Friday 22nd of November with family. There was 4 of us. We called on the friday afternoon and had no problem fitting us. Which was great. We arrived and were seated, to be told on the busier evenings we don't allow tracky bottoms. My mum lives in them. But as it was quite they will allow it. Totally understand. All it would have taken, was them to tell us that on the phone when we called. My mum order the fish of the day. Salmon, potatoes and veg with a herb sauce. She loved it. My mums friend ordered the same. But there was an issue. Every single place I've been to to eat serves the sauce separate. One - they may not like it. Two - how do you know how much the customer wants? She did not like the sauce and it was already poured all over her food. Meaning she couldn't eat it. So we ordered another one. By the time that came we had finished eating. But then was throughly enjoyed. Just not together. I had fish and chips! Delicious! My son had the cheese burger and fries. He also enjoyed that. Lastly, my mum ordered the crumble with custard. Crumble comes in a dish filled to the top. Great! But no room to put custard on top!!? Then the icing on the cake was that the waitress tried to charge us for the salmon meal that she didnt eat and they took back. Wasn't a mistake. We questioned it and it was taken off. So my advise would be, make the customer aware the sauce isn't served separate, is that ok? Or we can put it in a jug on the side incase you dont like it. And two, put the crumble in a bigger dish were you actually have room to have it with the custard.4/5 stars from me. Food lovely, just some little errors that can easily be rectified.

I organised a surprise 40th b'day for my partner at the Lock & Quay having liaised with Denise a month prior to the event. The evening was just wonderful, beyond my expectations! Our table was beautifully done, the food was delicious and enjoyed by all the guests, the service was faultless, a massive thank you to Jordan who looked after us. The whole team was very professional and friendly. Our guests are still talking about the evening! Many thanks Denise & the whole team. Highly recommended and we will see you very soon.

Lovely location for lunch. Modern bar and restaurant with good varied menu. Lovely food and substantial portions at very good prices. Also outside eating area by the water is ideal on a hot summer’s day, with ample shade. Live music is an added bonus. Have been several times and will be going again.

We visited the venue for a family meal. It’s a hidden gem overlooking Yeading Marina. It has an extensive menu choice, clean, nicely decorated with onsite parking. It was a pleasant surprise find, as although local, we had never ventured here before. Good portion sizes - the fish and chips was lovely. I would definitely recommend a visit, either for a meal or simply a drink. It’s nicely furnished and a good place for families/friends

The Lock and Quay is an absolute gem of a place. Great atmosphere, great food, prompt and friendly service despite our daft requests for more and more ketchup! Iv'e been several times and it never disappoints. now one of my favourite places to relax with friends.

Food was great (we had the small plates, one of the best buffalo chicken sauces I’ve had in UK) good choice of wine, and to top it off while drinking and eating in the sun there was an amazing singer. Will definitely be going back soon

We had our daughters christening at the lock and quay yesterday and all I can say is wow! We were blown away from the very beginning by their thoroughness on planning, openness to ideas and commitment to ensuring we had a great day. Denise, Lee and the team were on hand early on Saturday to allow is in to decorate how we wanted, we returned after the church service to find everything set up exactly how we'd discussed including drinks reception, kids station, cake table and buffet. The food was sublime, everyone commented on the variety as well as taste. The bar staff and waitresses were professional, helpful and friendly. All our requests, for example cutting and serving cake, were completed promptly. I cannot recommend this venue enough for anyone looking to host any kind of event. Thank you to all the team for making our daughter's day so special!!!

First time have visited this bistro despite being in the area for over 30 years. Reasonable menu covering most tastes including a very good Tapas selection. One word of warning the starter portions are large and add a plate of chips could have done me for my meal. The main courses were also good size my son's rib eye steak was doen to perfection and he could cut it with his fork. Most definitly could not do 3 courses. Excellent view over the Canal marina with all the comings and goings. Will be back even if it's for a drink or two in the evening.

An excellent place which surprised me with a service with an edge. Situated centrally in Hayes, nicely hidden away from the city. Very relaxing facility with little marina view. Loved the Sunday roast, fish n chips and special selections of drinks. Absolutely delicious puddings for the sweet tooth like me.

Awful service. Food not up to the standard they would like you to believe (I am convinced some of this is prepackaged instead of freshly cooked) and rude manager (dark hair, older lady, short in height. Didn’t get her name). I have spoken to others since about my experience, and they have told me the same. It is obvious that she can’t deal with customer complaints or has something negative to say, as she makes excuses or argues back. It is great to visit if you want to sit outside with a drink and avoid interaction with staff, otherwise don’t waste your time or money.

Took my mum for a treat to have the Pie and Mash, Now my mum was born in :London, grew up in London and was raised on Pie and Mash and often goes into London for what she calls Proper Pie and Mash. So I booked a table and thought oh well here we go.

We've been coming to Lock and Quay for a few years now. It's a family favourite and we've always enjoyed great food and service. Today, however it was like an entirely different place. We had booked the Mother's Day special afternoon tea for 1pm. We arrived and were told they were running late and did not get to our table until 2pm. There were 4 children in our party who were very hungry by this point and despite having ordered fries for them we were kept waiting a further 20 minutes and asked for our drinks order instead of actually delivering the food we had already ordered.

We stopped at the marina for a look at the barges and went into the Lock and Quay for lunch, the staff were very helpful, we ordered the pie and mash which was cooked fresh and was very tasty, we would definitely recommended this place for quality and value and will certainly be back.

My parents have visited Lock & Quay on a few occasions with their friends and took me one afternoon in August and I was very pleasantly surprised with the service, atmosphere and food.

I visited the Restaurant on the evening of the 13th of December with two friends. I am a mystery Diner visiting high end restaurants and Hotels. On this visit it was just an evening out with friends and not a professional visit. We thought that the food was excellent and the portions were plentiful and we felt that the food was good value for money for this kind of establishment, however the Apple Crumble we all had contained a very high proportion of sugar. The customer service was great and the staff were very helpful and friendly. On the night we went there was a large party sitting near by, they were VERY LOUD INDEED so we asked for a table at the other end of the restaurant. We moved to the new table but still the loudness was present, we could hardly hear ourselves speak. I would point out that the ceiling in this establishment is low and sound travels. The lighting on our table was low and it was hard to read the menu's. I would not go here again in the evening, lunchtime maybe.

It's that time of the year that the F8 Photographic club hold there Christmas Dinner Night.

Visited here for lunch unexpectedly while walking alongside the canal. Good customer service and good food in a picturesque environment.

This was my Second visit to this wonderful, picturesque and hidden gem located by the Grand Union Canal.

I would highly recommend The Lock & Quay!!! Fabulous venue, superb food and the most friendly and helpful staff.

Been here on a regular basis over the last six months and advised others to follow as always had a good meal was so looking forward to the pie n mash with the wife or so I thought after sitting down in a near empty dining room I was advtthat I was inappropriately dressed because the tweed trousers I had on had elastic round the bottom of them I wouldn’t think off going out for dinner in tracksuit bottoms on but the manager confirmed she wouldn’t serve me so I left hungry and disappointed I understand there is a dress code and I totally agree with that but there is no way I was inappropriately dressed sadly that will be my last trip there I won’t be back

Love the venue but why oh why offer Cocktails when you haven't got enough glasses, absolutely ridiculous, we waited about half an hour for our cocktails.

Really hot weather means inside or out. Here it makes little difference as there is no air conditioning. Never mind being nect to water is always cooling. Food was good and the service exceptional with even the tiger prawns being shelled for my partner. The filet was cooked to perfection done a free and with just the right quantity of vegetables. Dessert was also fine no complaints there. If you wanted to not pick you might say the music was a little too loud but then we are old folk!

Had a very good lunch here with friends. The food was excellent as was the service. Lovely views over canal and narrow boats coming and going. Discount for pensioners so win win all round.

I was in the area with my Mum and came across this restaurant on TripAdvisor when looking for somewhere to have dinner.
