Absolute gem of a place. Lovely service, great view looking out onto the canal, and delicious food. We ordered two mains, loaded fries, and two pints of juice, and it only came to £36.40. Highly recommend the fish and chips and the Cajun loaded fries. Can't wait to go back!

I gave 3 stars for Lock 27 even though ghe Service and Atmosphere were on 4 stars. This is because the price of a drink is a bit pricey @ around £5.60 a pint.We went on a Saturday when there was a Band playing a variety of mostly chart songs. There was a good crowd but the Band were a bit hit and miss with some songs being done well and vocals quite good, then another song was not so good with the vocals not great. The Band took a break and the customers cut down to about a third of what had been a full house before the Band continued.Nice Pub that offers food and good Bar Staff, but the price of a Pint compared to Wetherspoons which is less than a 10 minute walk from Lock 27,is a bit much.

My dog was attacked inside here yesterday, the way staff handled it was disgusting to say the least! The owner of the pocket bully who attacked my dog was allowed to stay inside while me,my partner and my injured dog had to sit outside in the rain for hours whilst waiting on the police to arrive! My dogs throat has been left with chunks out of it while my partners leg was left punctured! Not one of the staff members asked if any of us where ok throughout all of this. Staff were so rude to myself and my partner. Wouldn't take your dog in here.

I recently lost my Mum and as Lock 27 was close by to all her family and friends, we decided to have her Wake after the funeral at the Lock. I’d asked to be catered for about 35 people and when we walked in we were blown away by the friendliness of the staff on duty and the spread of food that greeted us on our arrival. Home made lentil soup, wonderful selection of sandwiches, chicken strips, sausage rolls, pakora bites, etc , tea coffee, . and delicious little desserts!! Most folk stayed all afternoon and it took us a good few hours to get through it all! I’d asked Chris, the owner to play a wee video of my Mum on the big TV and he set up his computer so we could show the video which all her friends and family adored. A lovely touch and it turned what can be a difficult day into an absolute delight which a lot of Mum’s friends said she would have loved. I found myself back at Lock 27 today for a neighbour’s funeral and yet again they got a great send off! I would heartily recommend Lock 27 for this type of event and I never really leave reviews, but credit where credit’s due. Very pleased indeed!

So much potential with location, however, the curse of the pubco strikes again. 'Out the packet' style branding, over-priced mainstream beers with no real imagination towards the modern drinker. Staff were brilliant though and always carry on with a smile on their face. If the sun's out it's the best spot in that locale for an alfresco beer but tables go quick and you do have to watch out for wayward self-righteous cyclists and a few over excited barking dogs.

Our go to place on a friday evening, they have modified the seating area with big glass windows overlooking the canal. The temple walk itself is perfect for joggers, casual strollers, dog walkers, leisurely strollers, fishing enthusiasts ( with licenses) etc. The food is decent and not too expensive. There is also a pub within to enjoy a couple of drinks with buddies or family. The restaurant allows dogs inside and also have decent toilet facilities. There is dog water bowl at most of the outdoor seating area. Small events can be hosted here . We also enjoyed live music at some days as well. Si sólo sus modales eran tan nítido como su sentido de vestimenta, cuestan nada después de todo. El resto del lugar es bastante sucia, con bebidas demasiado cara y un poco de un ambiente pobre. I live locally and have been a number of times to Lock 27. Whilst the food has always been to a v good standard and it is a nice spot to sit outside on the canal on a sunny day I always come away feeling that the place could be so much more than it is.The general place could do with a bit of an overhaul/ re decoration and the beer on tap is disappointing. One or two more craft beers would really lift the selection. The service can also be a wee bit hit and miss. Sometimes I have had brilliant service and other times it has been a wee bit too rough and ready. I feel with smartening the place up a bit it would be a real go to spot given the canal side location.

Dropped in here with a friend for lunch .First and last time. Should have turned back as we opened the door when we were almost overcome with the all-pervasive smell of disinfectant. What required to be disinfected to that extent and why ? Anyway , we were pointed in the direction of a free table by a gentleman whom I assumed to be the owner, ensconced behind the bar, surveying his fiefdom . I've read a number of reviews where mention is made of this chap . No, there aren't any virtues in being brusque or rude as this guy undoubtedly is - it's service with a smile that works for me, not a scowl .If you can't bother your backside being a mein host , then go and do something else ! The interior was pretty dingy and seemed to have as it's customers a rather eclectic bunch - a few Napoleon Solos nursing a pint and reading a paper and a few couples. The food was overpriced, unimaginative and there wasn't much of it - head down the road to Morrisons and get their all day mega breakfast - far superior quality, quantity and for half the price.......only problem is , you can't get an alcoholic drink with it . Will leave this place to it's loyal band of customers who have clearly cultivated tastes in bland , overpriced scran and rude service. Strange....

We have eaten here on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. With the lovely tartan carpets and original features, it has a great Scottish feeling. Canal boats pull up alongside, as well as regular customers who enjoy the ambiance. The food is not only good value, but tastes great. The bar staff are friendly and helpful. The owner is a bit of a Basil Fawlty Towers type, but always is immaculately dressed, and is his "own man". He definitely wants to please, but at the same time "doesn't suffer fools gladly", which is great as you don't get any trouble makers here. We are not easily pleased, but we have enjoyed every visit to this establishment. If you want to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, enjoy good food, sit outside if the weather allows - or go inside and enjoy nice surroundings - I doubt you will disappointed. When ordering a drink the Manager pointed out that the draft cider asked for was 7.4% and unsuitable if driving - very helpful and thanks for the tip- alternatively, ordered wine and happy to know would not be over the limit. Our attention was drawn to the special of two main courses and a bottle of wine for £20 and which included any main course on the menu. We ordered the fish and chips and chicken fajitas both which were fresh and well cooked. Excellent food and service. Lock 27 was the nearest pub, it sounded lovely, being by the river/canal, it was quite late so I phoned to ask what time they closed - the guy on phone said 1am - so we decided to walk - it was a lovely night and we were looking forward to sitting outside by the canal having a drink. We walked over a mile, arriving about 11.30pm. There was no atmosphere, one table full of teenagers & some poor fish in a manky fish tank. It was so late and we'd walked so far that we decided to stay. Ordered a drink - went to go outside but the bouncer stopped us - no drinks allowed outside!! At ten minutes to that time we were then very rudely told to "get out".Yesterday I ordered a pint of Magners at the bar and got the (shouted) reply "don't have that, read the board...NEXT!!!" Any normal person would have managed to offer an alternative without yelling in my face and moving immediately on to the next customer. Not just poor service, but exceptionally rude. Inside was very similar - quite an unpleasant smell, sticky tables, sticky menus. The waitress was a lovely girl but there was a gentleman worker that was just unpleasant! Thankfully I didn't have to deal with him personally but both his manner and language were inappropriate. As always the loch is always a good shout on a sunny day due to its great location for sitting outside. However each time I've visited recently I have found everything else to be severely lacking. Firstly the outdoor menu is extremely limited and I struggle to see the rational in this. Someone ordered a platter and was told they couldn't have this outside. When staff were asked why, they simply said that they could not provide a reason. Normally an outdoor menu is limited due to safety, for example no glass or cutlery outside but there doesn't seem to be any such logic behind it here as both glasses and cutlery are permitted, chicken wings etc however are not, doesn't make sense. Secondly, the food that is being served is not up to scratch, especially considering the prices being charged. Over £9 for a pizza which is clearly not homemade and with a base which isn't even cooked properly? You can get a good homemade pizza for around the £5 mark all over Glasgow so this is not acceptable. The 'soup of the day' which is normally tomato and basil was inedible. I struggle to see how something so straight forward could go so wrong but it was just like a tin of tomatoes which had been heated up. I'm not even sure anyone had actually added any basil, soup from a tin would have been a better option. Furthermore although there was a friendly girl working behind the bar there are certain people serving who could improve their service. An elderly man approached the bar and asked if they sell coffee and was answered in a very abrupt way. Worse than this though, someone asked for a cocktail which is listed on the menu and was told it was too much of a pain to make, this customer changed their selection to suit the staff. If you find it difficult to make something don't have it on the menu as people don't want to feel they have done something wrong in asking for the things you claim to sell. I have been drinking and eating in the loch 27 for decades and as much as you really can not fault the location, that's really not enough to keep people coming so I hope management take on board these comments and try to bring back some of the old quality they always used to have.

The staff were friendly but the food was below average. I had chicken with cheese & barbecue sauce which was quite pricey for a pub lunch at 9:95. It was tough and inedible, drowned in the sauce and I left most of it.Pity, I have happy memories of the place but wouldn't go back.

Came to lock 27 for a late lunch early dinner on Monday 11th of April can not fault the food or the staff but there was a really annoying dog just continuously barking, if it wasn't the dog barking it was the owner shouting enough enough I came in for a quiet bite to eat and it was far from quiet. Really was a shame as its a lovely pub and lovely location but will not be returning unless they they do away with letting dogs in. People like to have a meal in peace & not feel like they're in the kennels.

There were not enough menus to go round - when I asked at the bar, another customer offered me their menus as there were none left. Took ages to get served as the only bar man was continually interupted by arguments with the chef over the phone and then the chef eventually appeared and continued to have their domestic (including swearing at each other) regarding a previous order. Food came at different times - food was average at best but was better than we were expecting. The place looks run down. The place has so much potential but is under-staffed and a very hostile atmosphere between customers. Will not be rushing back. Will be heading to the Strathmore next time.

Passed this place quite alot and never had time to go inside and see what it's like so popped in for a quick bite to eat on my day off. The staff where friendly and helpful very attentive asking if my meal was fine and topping me up with drinks the place was nice abit quiet but not that I'm complaining I think the food is reasonably priced and they have a good selection of beers all in all a great first time at the lock will definetly be returning in the summer to enjoy an ice cold beer in the sun.

Have been a frequent visitor to Lock 27 since it opened it's door many years ago.Was always a lovely place to go on a nice warm day,to sit out at the canal side with a cold beer and watch people enjoying themselves.Over the last year I have watched the new Manager bring in bands, theme nights, fun nights etc, he is really making the Lock into somewhere we can now go for an evenings etertainment as well as enjoying their meal deals, which are amongst the best I have tried.Had the best Scampi and chips here the other night too

Popped in for a drink after a walk along the Forth & Clyde canal, fantastic location on the canal.Sadly once inside it was overrun with noisy dogs and noisier owners shouting at them to keep quiet.Quite a hostile atmosphere at the bar with a customer arguing with the staff about an over charged bill. Staff can best be described as barely functional and the manager looked as if he wished he was somewhere else as he failed to interact with his customers. So glad it was only a short visit for a drink and not food as the place has definitely gone to the dogs.

Great night at a lovely pub, staff very friendly couldn't be more helpful. The place could do with a bit of TLC, decor very dated but it is what it is and if u go with that attitude you will have a pleasant visit.

We cycle Balloch To Glasgow quite regularly and always stop here as we keep thinking, it will get better... No It won't. Service with a growl, coffee from a jar, food from ???This is a "locals" bar and don't you forget it.They will always do well as the location is fantastic, it's such a shame that it's not owned by someone who cares... .

visited on a nice sunny Sunday morning after a walk along the canal. On entering a member of staff shouted across " are you here to use the toilets only" a very nice welcome indeed!! We ordered coffees at the bar, the smallest cup of white coffee i'v seen. We sat outside where there were a crowd of males who didn,t have a clue how to behave in public. . We were not allowed to order a 2nd coffee from outside, strange laws!! A member of my family had also visited earlier in the week, and had the same opinion. The place has changed, we will not hurry back...

I had fish and chips and my daughter had chilli nachos. The batter on my fish was lovely and the fish itself was a good portion and was way better than some of the fish I have had lately from many fish restaurants including Old salty's. My daughter gave the nachos a massive thumbs up. I have ate here many times over the years and have always loved the food. When the management changed hands the standards fell but now it definitely looks like they have definitely upped their game.

Called in at Lock 27 mid morning whilst searching for my ancestors in Glasgow, one of whom was the lockmaster in mid 19th century and lived in the house which is now the Lock 27 bar and restaurant. The bar was not open, but the friendly manager was hard at work cleaning and was very helpful in answering our questions. We'll certainly be back to sample the fare !

This was our second visit. First visit was a warm summer afternoon walk along the canal and we just happened to come by this quaint pub. We enjoyed our drinks and decided we would have our lunch. This was an excellent visit. My boyfriend didn't stop talking about it. So we decided to do a wee bit of shopping in Morrisons and then head up.... Erm...this was not a great visit, in fact.. We'll never go back again. Setting foot in the pub there were about two people inside it (the weather was dull and not that warm). The bar/drinks area looked as though the pub was either closing down or someone forgot to order their stock! There were limited options for non alcoholic drinkers (I had the car and I'm a responsible driver.. And fancied something other than the same sold fizzy juice). Well I chose the wrong pub. Whilst my boyfriend orders the cider and fizzy cola, the man behind the bar decided to be rude to a customer and her child when ordering their food. The woman was quite embarrassed... When she left he proceeded to pull faces. I asked him what the problem was... Well.. Its because she didn't bring back the menus after perusing them!! Really? My boyfriend and I decided to take our drinks outside, seen as there were barely anyone inside the pub. There were three unfriendly females sitting outside the pub with bikes hogging the way, they didn't attempt to move to enable us to sit at one of the tables. I couldn't wait to finish my drink and go elsewhere.. Anywhere but at Lock 27!!!If your looking for a warm friendly atmosphere or a variety of beverages... Go somewhere else. Very disappointing but mostly disappointed because we thought we would have had great experience like the first visit. Staff attitude poor!!! Extremely disappointing..

We stopped here today because of the beautiful location but that's the only thing that was lovely. I had ordered a bottle of water to be told they didn't sell bottled water so I was given a horrible tasting tap water. I ordered fajitas and as well as having ran out of sour cream where totally tasteless, the tortillas hadn't been warmed so where quite hard and the salsa was synthetic. The girls who served us were very pleasant hence the reason I've given 2/5 but the food was definitely 0/5, such a shame for what is a beautiful location.

Enjoying a sunny day off work with my friend, we chose Lock 27 for its local and lovely surroundings, but after the rudeness of the bar man and the 40 minute wait for our food, we will not be returning to this eaterie (Had we not pre-paid for our food, we would have left).Looking forward to our Fajitas, the arriving sizzling platter looked delicious, but the cheap tasting flavouring and the several days old tortillas were hard and broke when one attempted to roll them, which was very disappointing. The staff looked so unapproachable and intimidating (the bar man especially) that we decided not to comment on our disappointing meal. The 'Dogs are welcome' sign, proved not to be the case, when my friend's dog went into the bar when she went to the toilet. This resulted in an aggressive "get your dog on a lead".Top tip to the staff....your customers keep your business running, so try being polite and friendly...maybe even smile occasionally. Cheerio.

I was there for lunch with a friend while we were on fairly long part of our walk along the Forth & Clyde Canal. It was a sunny day so we sat at the tables outside. There were also a number of dogs and young children - and why not?The food offered was fairly standard "pub grub", clearly aimed to appeal to the patrons. Again, why not - the place does have to make a profit to survive, unlike other closed places that we had passed on our walk. The bar was busy so the staff member offered to bring our drinks out later. He did, and it was helpful that it saved standing at the bar. But he didn't take away the used glasses from the previous customers. The food was quite slow coming, but it was lunchtime and the kitchens were clearly running at (or even a bit above) capacity. The quality was, sadly, only average. In particular the peas had an "off" taste and seemed to have been out of the freezer for too long while the gammon steak could (for my taste) have been grilled for a bit longer - but the chips were spot-on!. Having said that my colleague was pleased with his pulled pork and salad. Overall it does not have the attention to detail that the Wetherspoon's chain always seems to achieve.I'm looking at some recent reviews as I write this and have to say that they are not wholly unfair, though Nick V does go rather over the top. It's a shame because it's canal-side situation with traffic noise only in the distance, has great potential for an outdoor eating place in the city. Note to the management : please don't dismiss the criticism ~ you have a great venue here so see how most Wetherspoons manage and emulate their style!
