Excellent restaurant by the sea, here you can eat an excellent broccoli soup, excellent venison, the panko is a must try. Ah, don't forget the tiramisu. Excellent service, very nice place. Highly recommended

Excellent wee bistro. Small menu as food all cooked freshly. Don't expect a quick meal as food is cooked to order. Our food was excellent - the cauliflower steak is well worth a try - I loved it & I'm not vegetarian!! Great ambience & service

During our travels, we didn't really hit any restaurants that wowed us, until this place. You get about as many options as you'd expect from a bistro, but wow, are they amazing. Highly recommend it if you make it up to that area.

Expensive for what it is, wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't for the 10% added to the bill without any notification, and this would be less of an issue if it was a gratuity for serving staff on low wages but it is a husband and wife team.

Beautiful location on the edge of Lochcarron. Delicious, high quality local food. The venison in particular was a treat!

I cannot explain how amazing this food was! Everything was so fresh and was bursting with flavour. If you are around Lochcarron I would highly recommend paying a visit as you will not regret it. Hope the pictures speak for themselves.

Absolutely incredible. We were travelling from London to do NC500 trying to taste some of the finer foods on the road and this was the greatest highlight of them all! Unbelievable bisque, service was second to none and the food/wine pairing… HIGHLY recommended and we’ll be back soon just to taste it again. Thanks Chef!

Food is outstanding, definitely the best for miles, should feature in Guide Michelin, if they don't already. Lovely view out on the Loch - make sure you ask for the window table when booking. The wine menu matches the food - very good selection. If you are coming with a toddler, they don't have a kids menu with the usual favorites like fish fingers or other unhealthy but loved food, but they do all their plates in small portions so the little ones can appreciate something nice for a change too. The restaurant keeps toys and crayons, ask them when you're coming with kids.

Great service. Excellent sirloin steak and plaice with creative vegetable accompaniments. Great views of Lochcarron if you sit outside. Don't be late, they are busy and may have booking for your table after you leave!

We ate at this restaurant on two occasions during a week stay in the area. Having had both a lunch and evening meal we can thoroughly recommend this restaurant. The quality of food and service is excellent and the ambiance in this small restaurant is also first class

if you are running a restaurant which doesnt seem like some cheap place with nice decor and high prices . If you are only offering one veggie meal, can you make sure this meal is worth the price and its tasty? Its rather an embarrassment for the owner and chef to offer meal which costs £2 to make and giving it a price tag of £15 , where this dish is tasteless, hard half of aubergine with random veg and not tasty filling topped with breadcrumbs. Have you tried it before start selling it even?

Cosy little place with excellent food. It's rather a restaurant than a bistro but definitely worth the money. I'd definitely recommend it and would come back again on the next visit to Wester Ross

We visited this restaurant last year, apologies for only getting round to write a review now. We had one of the best meals that I can remember! The food and service was excellent!! I’d highly recommend this to anyone!!

Due to restricted Covid numbers we were lucky to get a table at The Bistro when we phoned up on the day. The only time they could squeeze us in was 5.30 - a bit early but OK. We were a little surprised when we arrived to find they did not seem ready for us - they were still laying tables and despite the fire being on it was still quite cold. This did make us feel a little awkward for a while. It was clearly explained that we would only have a 2 hour slot and Covid rules were adhered to.The service was friendly and whilst the choice of food was limited, it was all very different with unique twists. My husband had chicken stuffed with black pudding which he said was excellent. I had sea bream which tasted lovely but the portion was extremely small for £19!! We then shared a banana bread pudding which was wonderful.They served local beers and a selection of gins which added up to our bill being the most expensive of our whole trip on the North 500, but it was special. I hope they manage to survive more Covid restrictions.

What a find this was and thanks to tripadvisor. 1 Main Street in the highlands and here was a gem of a restaurant. We had booked for a Friday night well in advance and it didn’t disappoint. 100% Covid set up. If you want a huge choice this is not the place for you. If you seek balanced, in season choices cooked freshly to perfection it is the place. My only disappointment I just couldn’t manage a sweet! Wine choice was excellent though not extensive just right.I had hot smoked salmon with celeriac slaw, my partner (doesn’t eat fish) had prawn bisque and loved it. We both chose venison melt in the mouth perfection.I wish I could pick this restaurant up and take it home for my friends to enjoy. Staff were friendly and attentive not overbearing. If you miss this you willMiss out!!! Thank you guys xx

We had booked to eat here before we arrived and so glad we did, with the present circumstances around Covid-19. The tables were spaced accordingly to the new rules of social distancing. Wevpyldnog fault the food or service. We enjoyed a 3 course meal along with wine. The staff were very polite and friendly, would definitely recommend eating here if in the area but do book, as many people were turned away.

We were staying locally, our host recommended The Bistro. I had the Braised Beef with Mash, the Beef melted in the mouth, the Mash was buttery and smooth, the sauce delicious. My partner had the Venison which he soon polished off, again outstanding. The service was very friendly, and attentive. We cannot recommend this place enough, you will need to book as small place.

Excellent food with a limited menu done really well. Thank goodness this place doesn’t offer 20 starters and 30 mains. Single numbers of each done extremely well. Service was fantastic and social distancing maintained. Staff were attentive and friendly making for a very pleasant experience. We had salmon and sea bass both of which were excellent. Good value given the quality.

We visited with a celiacs suffer who is also allergic to shell fish and we complement the waiter and chef. Excellent meals just fabulous. Absolutely no complaints except we ate too much. Thank you guys you made this a great evening, good friends and great food

Having eaten all over the world my husband and I have eaten twice at this restaurant in a week and have to say tye food compares to the best weve had. The menu doesnt vary vastly because its all good locally sourced ingredients that are in season, but the lightness of touch the chef has is remarkable. A true gem, if this were in a city youde book a month ahead.. wonderful. The two waitors were delightful, and we felt so welcome. The young sous chef was working so hard and im sure has a great future ahead with training like this.. just wonderful thankypu

Really good food and friendly service with an awesome view. Only downside was that they have not participated in the Mon-Wed 50% scheme, which is slightly disappointing as £60 for two mains and two desserts seems a touch overpriced without any sort of discount. Otherwise very good though.

Ate in The Bistro last week for our 50th Anniversary while on holiday. Nice attmosphere, great food, friendly staff. Hughly recommend.

We had booked a couple of weeks in advance which was necessary as it was fully booked. We were two adults and two children aged 11 and 14. The menu is quite limited but in my opinion this is a good thing as everything was great quality. The children weren’t taken by the starters but tried ours and were converts which was great. All starters and mains were great quality and really substantial and worth their £14-£23 price. The children made up for their lack of starter because only they could manage a dessert! Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely food. Definitely recommend.

We dined at The Bistro by pure chance that they had availability and nowhere else in the area did, but wow were we glad we did! It's a small venue with a great atmosphere and lovely menu. All the food we enjoyed (smoked salmon and prawn bisque for starters, onion tart and sea bream for mains) was cooked to perfection and really delicious. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, while giving us space to enjoy the evening.

The best venison I've ever had. I had the local roast marinated venison with mushrooms picked that afternoon, turnip gratin parsley and red wine jus. It was literally mouth watering from first to last bite. Service was friendly and efficient. I definitely recommend.

I popped in for something to eat and was seated and served quickly. I chose a starter (Cullen Skink) and a desert (toasted banana bread and sauce). The soup was pretty disappointing as the fish was overdone and the bread was stale! I am surprised they even served it. I almost left but stayed for the desert, which really was excellent. I think 4 stars is being REALLY generous here as the soup and stale bread was so disappointing. The desert was just so good that I left feeling ok.

Was on a family, mini break and finally got the chance to try the bistro. Received a lovely welcome and shown to our table. After sitting a little while I felt rather cold in the area I was in but couldn’t move as it was busy. There was a heater but not on. Selections are on a large black board and good choice but my daughter struggled as there isn’t much children could chose from, well the night we were there anyway. Think it would be good to give kids, a kids choice. The food myself and my husband ordered was beautiful and full of flavour but only complaint we have is that it wasn’t hot, was just warm, I like hot food. I would recommend the bistro as there was great choice and food was lovely, just let down as it wasn’t hot for us and I didn’t like to say anything as it was rather busy and there is only one guy doing all the cooking.Wish you guys the best.

Lovely food in a friendly restaurant. Great choice of food from the wall display blackboards. They offered a variety of wines and local beers too. Efficient and friendly service. We couldn't believe that there is only one chef working on his own to produce such excellent food! It was all delicious but my personal favourite was the dessert of toasted banana bread, caramelised bananas and caramel sauce! This restaurant is deservedly very popular so pre-booking is needed. Would highly recommend.

Dinner here with family including baby and two under fives was an absolute joy. The service was attentive and so helpful, the ambience on the shoreline of the most lovely sea loch was stunning and the food..... well what can I say! Between us we sampled most of the broad and creative menu and shared the delights amongst our party of 8 (including 3 vegetarians) the chef Sean didn’t miss a beat. Everything was done to perfection and his care to detail admirable eg the stock of the prawn bisque made with unshelled langoustine was wonderful. Well worth a small detour off NC500 but book as venue has limited covers.

Fabulous meal at this very welcoming bistro. The restaurant was very busy and we were told on arrival that there was a bit of a backlog in the kitchen. However our meal duly arrived and the quality was absolutely spot on. We spent 11 days touring the Highlands and we ate out every night and this meal was probably the best.

We were 4 for dinner; the bistro was new even t our friends who are lo locals and own a vacation house in town, he surprise was complete. A great bistro at the most unexpected place. We started with some beers and a battle of white wine before jumping straight to the mains.Two of us had the Seabass, one had the pork loin and the otger had the Salmon. The Seabass came on top of bitter leaves and aioli, with olives, capers,shallots,sweet potatoes and green beans.This was the best Sea Bass I ever had. The combinations were unusual and the flavours were delicate. I tasted some of the pork loin and the salmon and they were just as good. Desserts were great and the prices more than reasonable - 18.5 pounds for main courses. This place should become a destination restaurant for the region. Unfortunately, this is too far away from home for me - 5,000 miles or so? our local friends will go back and share with us their future experiences, but we also plan on going back.

Absolutely fantastic meal. The seafood was delicious and extremely fresh, if you want fresher seafood you'll have to buy a boat. Don't miss out on this little gem of a place but book in advance as they were turning people away.

We have nothing bad to say about about this lovely little bistro, hazel couldn’t have been more accommodating, she managed to squeeze us in last min which we are both very thankful for, kept me up to date on table availability and then made us feel so welcome even though we were a late booking! My boyfriend had the muscles for a main and I had the ragu pasta which were both delicious! All the staff were lovely and the whole place was beautiful decorated! We would 100% recommend to our friends and family if they were visiting the area and just wish we lived closer to have another reason to visit! You can also purchase some of the Carron pottery too, I treated myself to a few vases! Thanks again for a lovely meal! Charlotte and James

Excellent food and friendly service. Apparently it’s an all new set up from a couple of months ago - the word must be out since it’s mostly booked up a couple of days in advance. Only a few tables, so a sensibly short menu that changes every day. A place to appreciate good food and wine - but probably not for scoffing down large portions after a day in the hills. Looking forward to going back before too long.

Booked a table for four - friendly staff and lovely food. Had beef Ragu with linguini and my son had the seafood linguini all beautifully cooked. Would go again.

Best dinner, we had in Scotland. The menu is composed with love and knowledge, everything prepared with fresh and regional products( fish meat and vegetables). A fine selection of beers, wines an whisky. And a very friendly and helpfull staff. We will come back as soon as possible.

Nice cozy little restaurant by the loch. Menu items listed on the blackboard in the dining area. I had the chicken supreme, my partner had the cod and we shared the smoked salmon starter. The food was great - I found the chicken excellent - and, although a little pricey, was well worth it.

Il problema forse siamo noi che, essendo italiani, siamo abituati alla buona cucina. Abbiamo voluto provare il risotto ( alla modica cifra di 20 sterline!! ), un mix di riso, uovo sodo, pesce affumicato, piselli e una strana crema. Non lo avessimo mai fatto. Sul pollo farcito di crema da formaggio sorvolo che è meglio.

Small Friendly Bistro, serving superb fresh local food; the smoked salmon and beetroot was a taste of perfection, sea bass on cassoulet with smoked haddock pared with a glass of Chablis the same, sardines and salsa another winner! I suspect It might be very hard to get a table there soon...

Really enjoyed the meal and would recommend the Lochcarron Bistro to anyone. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. My smoked salmon starter was well presented, the main braised steak was cooked to perfection and the panna cotta with mixed berries was simply delicious! Having the starter, main and sweet menu on a blackboard covering one wall is a nice touch and offers a good selection. I wish the new proprietors good luck with their family business and I hope to be back next year.

Dont go there if they dont like the look of you, they will make excuses that they are fully booked but will let other people walk right in off the street disgraceful . If I could put 0 stars I would

Myself and my wife went to the Lochcarron Bistro and had 2x Venison main course meals. The meal had lots of flavour and great presentation but the size of the meal was more like a starter than a £22 main course meal. We looked on the internet at the menu before we went expecting to have a choice of what the menu said? Not just a choice of specials that were wrote on the board. We were looking forward to this as it was recommended but for £67 inc a bottle of procecco we were left wanting.

Amazing dinner of Seafood bisque with prawns, salmon, and whit fish pieces followed by a meal of Poached Cod topped with pecan crusted muscles. This was served over ratatouille with a side of potatoes. The bisque was a meal in itself; a light cream broth with huge chunks of the freshest seafood ever. The main course was the super star! The fish was so fresh it fell apart. The pecan crusted muscles and the ratatouille we're delectably seasoned. The potatoes were topped with a drizzle of creme fresch. The chef is a master of seasonings!

New Chef Sean Boswell's second night in The Lochcarron Bistro. Wow, if this is him settling in, I can't wait to see him hit his stride. Credit where it's due and tonight's meal was brilliant. Exciting, imaginative menu, with very good helping size and not expensive. It's the first time I've eaten a rabbit starter and it really worked, tasted my wife's fish broth and was a wee bit sorry not to have taken it, next time. Main courses of sea bream and chicken really hit the spot, both sauce and gravy tasting just magic, great puds to finish a fantastic birthday meal, can't praise enough. I would recommend booking as this dining room doesn't seat that many people and I'm sure its a place which is in very high demand.Four of us all had starters,my partner had the muscles which was a massive portion but they were delicious ,my brother & I had the mushrooms to start & my sister in law had the salmon & oatcakes,they were equally devine. For the main course three of us had steaks & I had the posh fish & chips.The steaks all came out correctly cooked although all three asked for them all to be cooked differently.The steaks were very tender.My posh fish & chips was a salmon steak in batter,smoked salmon & languistines which was amazing.It isn't cheap here but it is well worth a visit.Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Near completion of the North Coast 500 we were going to wild camp and so pleased we landed in the Wee Camp site Loch Carron. We found a path into the village and ended up outside the Bistro. Chef followed us in and wow what a treat waited for us inside. A nice rustic feel to the Bistro, chalk boards clearly show the menu from sea food to steaks.

Excellent food and a great recommendation by another review to have the mussels. We had those for starters and steak for mains. Both were lovely. They had a good range of local ales. Steve the chef / owner came out to check we were happy with our meals and you felt like he really wanted to know. Booking in advance is definitely recommended!

It's a tiny space and very busy on the night that we dined there with my daughter who sports a mobility scooter. This was a bit of a problem to them for parking initially, but this was soon solved and we had a most enjoyable meal. The seafood was SO fresh and delicious, the front of house, and the kitchen staff were all lovely and couldn't have been nicer. What they do, they do very well indeed, and we like what they do!!
