This remote restaurant/bistro overlooking the loch and on the quieter north shore gets better every time we visit. This is our 3rd in c. 10 years. The shellfish staples on the menu are cleverly served and cooked to perfection especially clams, scallops, lobster and langoustines - but why razor clams have continued is a mystery! Fresh fish on the blackboard also a treat we had Whitchurch Sole and Halibut - both extraordinary. Whoever trained the staff needs a big slap on the back - the staff were excellent, extremely knowledgeable and efficient. And had a great sense of fun too. Approx £60 p/h for 3 courses with wine. What’s not to like - A memorable evening we will return

Over rated and over priced. I had Cullen Skink for starter, he first time I've had one with no cream. It was OK but nothing like Cullen Skink and a bit miserable on the fish. For main I had a half Lobster and it was over cooked. Sacrilege in a seafood restaurant. Have been a few times over the years but won't be back after this visit.

The service was substandard. The main course was scallops for me and all I got was a plate of scallops. There was no sides, salad etc. I had to ask for bread for the table. For the price shocking. I have dined there on a few occasions in the past but standards have slipped. I do not feel comfortable raising such issues at the point of service and will reserve the right to name and shame. Future rave reviews will I think be rare. . Reply13 m

We hosted our wedding at the Waterside in June 2024 - it was a lovely & fun day for all, largely due to the help of our wedding coordinator Tiff! She went above & beyond to help me have a picturesque & fun day, I didn't have to worry about the setup or the breakdown - she even saved one of my wedding donuts for me when I never got a chance to have one during the night :) The reason for the loss of a star for the rooms is purely because the honeymoon suite lacked a mini fridge >> which I think would have been really helpful as we had several leftovers + wine we wanted to keep chilled. The loss of the star for service was due to some miscommunication between the hotel bookings & the event coordination, (i.e. after we had paid our deposit, someone on the booking side at the hotel had "force booked" several rooms for the day of the wedding for another guest/party, including the honeymoon suite) - which my husband spoke to the manager about & thankfully they resolved before the day.

Slow. Nasty and tasteless. Avoid with every being of your heart. The one down by the river is much better I can't recall the name but far tastier.

We had drinks and a meal yesterday, early evening. The staff were very welcoming and the bar, although small was busy with a good atmosphere. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious; perfectly cooked fish, light batter and the triple cooked chips were the best I’ve ever had. They are dog friendly so we’ll be back next week with our dog. Thank you.
