Somewhat disappointed - friends had suggested the restaurant. By 1.30pm they had run out of two of the main courses and one of the starters - the scallops were good but the steak was quite tough and not very hot and quite fatty. There were far too many frites on the plate that it was quite off putting. The service was good. The artichoke main course was good. Desserts were fine. It was very expensive.

Cocktails are very good. Wine selection is lovely. Had the Sweet bread lamb. Was perfect size. Pigeon for main, absolutely lovely with the sauce and mushrooms. Creme Brulee was one of the best and by far the most generous I've ever had for the 8.50 price tag. Come here as many times as you can.

We were delighted with our expereince of Little french. Not always a good idea to revisit a place as it can pall, but this visit was outstadning. We had startes and main _ I can scallops and skate. So full of flavour and well presented. I had a tomaot slad and my partner had it as a starter as well. This was almostly heavinly - thinly sliced tomatoes, crsuhed tomaot, lots of herbs. So nice.

Not sure if we hit this on an off day, but our dinner was a totally unremarkable dining experience. The cooking was average, The seafood not clean (grit in it). The steak was an average fatty cut. The much billed mash was very average. But its the arrogant, unfriendly and rushed "service" that really grated. Based on our experience, I'm not sure it deserves the billing it gets from some. having lived in France for many year, almost any Bistro in any French town is better by any matrix.

Incredible restaurant. Food was out of this world. We had a starters & main each (all different options) and each was fantastic as the other. All brought at a perfectly slower pace to enhance the experience (this is oddly what some of the bad reviews are about). Do not believe the bad reviews. They are people moaning about a waitress being new (?), the food not being brought out fast enough (like it’s Nandos), and there only being two waiters for a busy restaurant (?) from what I’ve seen. It’s a Beautiful restaurant with great friendly, attentive staff and most importantly, incredible food that justifies the premium price.

Visited little French for the first time on the recommendation of family and friends and we were not disappointed. We started with the jersey oysters which were excellent washed down with champagne available by the glass. My wife then had the crab salad which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the Provençal fish soup which lacked an intensity of flavour and could have been hotter, but not unpleasant. For the mains we shared a cote de boeuf, which was excellent. This came with bernaise sauce , frites and a delicious aligot We added a little gem salad to this and enjoyed it all although it defeated us with the sheer volume of food. Dessert was strawberries with chantilly cream, followed by coffee and brandy. In all an excellent meal accompanied by more champagne and a robust Malbec with the beef. Service was very friendly and paced as you would expect for a French restaurant, which gave a necessary breather between courses. I highly recommend this restaurant and intend to visit again soon.

Reading some of the recent reviews I feel I went to a different restaurant! Our food was delicious and hot and served excellently! It was slightly disappointing that the Soufflé had sold out but we chose something else and it was a great alternative! We asked for wine recommendations and they were excellent - especially when we were not directed to the most expensive options. The service was great and responsive and we had a great experience. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and it was memorable for all the right reasons! Amazing bread and accompaniments, lovely fish, delicious chicken and amazing cheese! A proper French Bistro experience. Why do people write about the food being expensive? Check the menu before you go!

Nice setting. We booked for our 10th anniversary and had high expectations after a bad experience 18 months ago. When we arrived, it was not that busy. We were offered water but had to wait a while for drinks. Our waitress was training and didn't ooze confidence. I feel she wasn't given much support. There was no explanation of dishes or wine and nothing offered by way of sides. The waitress took an order of frites even though my husband had ordered turbot that came with potatoes. She didn't carry a pad so our frites order never arrived and we were delivered the wrong wine with the third course. The food was ok; not good for the price. Presentation left much to be desired. The souffle (a Gavroche special) was flat and reheated... more like an omelette in sauce and my sweetbreads were swimming in sauce with a few peas floating around. The turbot arrived with a huge clumsy pile of new potatoes. The place became really busy and you could see that the front of house staff were stretched. There were only 2 serving the 40 diners in our view. The man behind the bar was grumpy and clearly not happy when we sent back our pudding wine which had arrived late way after puddings arrived and was clearly tainted. To summarise, this is not a happy place to eat, Food feels pre-prepared, rushed and plonked on the plates. The food is expensive and lacks finesses.

We had a lovely meal here for my birthday in February whilst visiting Bristol. The staff were friendly and the food was very good. I had ox cheek which melted in the mouth and my husband had steak. He said it was the best peppercorn sauce he had ever had. Considering it was a Monday it was busy Ann had a lovely atmosphere. Would certainly recommend.

Visited for a lunch sitting on my birthday. Table for three at 12:15. Beautiful building and decor. Very small but personal, which was a great vibe. Waiting staff were very attentive, polite and kind. Service was exceptional considering it was a full house at all times. Starters: 2x Sweet breads - delicious, especially the sauce. Make sure you get bread to mop this up. 1x Scallops - buttery/garlicy goodness. Cooked very well. Mains: 2x Pigeon - perfectly cooked, beautiful celeriac puree. Slightly hard to eat on the bone but delicious. 1x Hake - beautifully seasoned. Smallish portion of fish. Lovely cabbage. 2x Aligot - best part of the meal - you must get this! Dessert: 2x Prune tart - delicious 1x Rum baba - Boozy!!! Was a fantastic meal. Really reasonably priced. Best surprise - the Nettle Fizz, it’s delicious and a must!

My daughter and her boyfriend took us here for a pre Christmas treat, and boy was it an experience. Probably one of the best meals we've had in a long time, and certainly the best meal we experienced in Bristol! Everything was perfect, from the welcome, the menu (and absolutely spot on regarding nut allergies, extreme care and attention), the food was absolutely delicious (my venison in particular was amazing). We had English wine which was a revelation - not cheap - but exceptional. Can't wait to return as it was a memorable evening, thanks to the professional and informed staff. The restaurant is small and intimate but still room enough for privacy.

We had oysters & scallops to start, they were delicious. The scallops were the best we’ve ever had. Order the olives, they are amazing. We actually went to the shop owned by the restaurant to buy some. We both ordered steak. It was cooked to perfection. A side of aligot with truffle and it was delicious, I’d could have eaten multiple servings it was so good. We ordered a variety of wine but the English sparkling rose was a favourite. We have already booked to return.

First off, the service was lovely- knowledgeable about the menu, good at recommendations and attentive without being overbearing. Food was good- however not what you (or at least, I) was expecting in regard of reviews. We had 3 courses, starting with some sweetbreads and the pork terrine. Both tasted okay, but the presentation and execution was very much lacking. The terrine didn’t feel like a traditional terrine- Of course this is fine, but it would be nice knowing that it would be served under a different light. It was breaded and fried, however this resulted in quite a dry dish. The sweetbread sauce tasted fantastic however the actual sweetbreads were on the chewier side and lacking taste. Mains wise, ordered a whole pigeon alongside a rabbit leg. It was less than half a pigeon as the leg and The wing itself were very small. It was over salted, and the garnish was thrown on the plate. The rabbit leg was incredibly oversalted, and that comes from a fine dining chef who smokes heavily. In saying this, whichever chef was responsible for the sauces needs to be applauded- rich, flavourful and just perfect. Overall, it’s good. Maybe we caught a lackluster day, it’s definitely worth checking out however on our occasion, it wasn’t great. As I said, service was fantastic and you can still see that the chefs care- Just not what we were expecting.

Service was good and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely book again.

The food was very good, but the service was far too quick and we felt very rushed. We placed our order and I went straight to the bathroom. On my return, our starter was already on the table. Between our starter being taken away and our main course arriving took just 4 minutes. We could easily have gone through 3 courses in less than an hour. We couldn't understand why we were being rushed when there were plenty of empty tables. Please allow customers to enjoy an evening out at a leisurely pace without making us feel like we're on a conveyer belt and you want us out the building asap!
