Little Bay Restaurant in Croydon

Hadn’t visited since before Covid we were interested to see if it was still the old reliable Little Bay. We were taken for lunch by old friends who are also long time fans of the restaurant. We needn’t have worried, the restaurant looked lovely and the menu was as good as ever. We were served by a delightful, friendly young waitress who brought our delicious food! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The only thing that slightly let down our experience was the poor state of the loo. The ladies securely needs updating without delay; I cannot comment on the gents, but I daresay it’s in a similar state. Do something about it and next time will be a 5* rating. We’ll be returning soon. 🤞

Family visiting on New Years Eve early dinner . Great attentive service . Nice choice of specials . Starters are particularly fab … choux de crab , mussels , prawns & goats cheese salad . Good value too !

I don't normally write reviews but wanted to give the Little Bay a huge shout out. 5 of us ladies booked a table for our Christmas get together. We were seated upstairs. The food was delicious and the staff were so polite and efficient. Towards the end of our meal a large party came in for their meal. It became rather noisy so we were going to leave until a lovely member of staff took us downstairs to a quieter table where we finished off the evening with hot drinks. Thank you Little Bay for a wonderful evening if I could give you 6 stars I would.

I don't usually write reviews but I just have to say what a super lunch I had today at Little Bay. Food was perfectly cooked and the service was excellent. And all at a very reasonable price. I haven't been in there for twenty years or more but more fool me. I will be back now whenever I am in the area.

The salmon pasta tasted of pure soy sauce and was extremely salty, the salmon itself was nice. I could not eat the pasta, soy sauce was not mentioned on the menu. No one came to check on us to see how our meal was, just simply took our plates away quickly. Slow service.

I was blown away by my visit here we came to celebrate my best friend’s birthday and it was amazing. When you walk in you are met with such unique decor and a warm atmosphere! Niamh looked after us that night and she was so friendly and hardworking. I had the chicken wings as a starter and the crab stuffed plaice for my main. I’m not sure if I’m greedy but I would suggest getting a side of veg just to bulk up your main a little since I didn’t have dessert. The chef made me a yummy salad to go with my main.

June 5 ( 5.30 - 6.40pm ) , experience was excellent due to accommodating / friendly staffs (never racist) aside from a cosy atmosphere (hidden gem - reminds me of Florida's " Pirates of the Carribean" theatre & restaurant ) & good value tasty / well prepared food. This quirky little restaurant in South Croydon is an absolute gem! It has been there for many years and is a favourite of ours that we go to when we are in the area - we live out of London now. The food is delicious and their set priced menu very good value. The staff are attentive and the establishment clean but a little worn. Parking IS difficult but with a bit of perseverance we did find an on street spot a short walk away. Highly recommend - especially the Choux de Crab!

Fantastic restaurant, with character charm and a fantastic ambience! Booked for the girlfriend's birthday, got stuck in traffic so called and adjusted the booking with no issues! The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful without being overbearing or hovering. The food as always is amazing, and so well priced for what you get! It would cost 3x more in a fancy West end restaurant. (Not that I've ever had anything as good in those restaurants) Great selection of stars and mains, with added specials. Staff were knowledgeable of the specials and main dishes answering any queries without having to check. A great place, and if you've never been... Go!!

We’ve been going to The Little Bay for over 25 years. We love it here, the food quality is great, the service is good and we always enjoy it. The menu is simple and doesn’t change much but they have a great selection to chose from. They do a lovely Sunday roast too. The flavours are lovely and the portion sizes are just right. They try and keep the prices reasonable which makes it affordable. The booths are great. It does look a bit tired and dated but it’s clean and the food is what you go for.

First time back for a few years and didn’t disappoint! Food, customer service and ambience was great, and the live music was a bonus. We were there for our daughters 9th birthday and they sang to her and everyone loved it. Great to see the choux de crab still on menu and sea bass with paella was lovely. We will definitely return!

Went there for our Christmas party of a little company of 5. We were put up in one of the tent-like booths which created a bit of fun. Service was perfect and the food was delicious. Everyone very happy with their food and it was all very reasonably priced.

My first time here with friends one of my friends comes here often I can see why the food was absolutely amazing very quirky place service was second to none our waitress MAELYS was fantastic she was very helpful with the menus nothing was too much trouble for her had a great time would definitely go back a little gem in Croydon

Such a great night. The food is extremely tasty and well presented, it is excellent value for money. Staff were brilliant. They had live music which made for a great atmosphere. One of the best restaurants in London in my opinion.

A little oasis in South Croydon. Found “Little Bay”, 10 years ago and have never been disappointed. We have used it for wedding anniversary meals, family outings, and to entertain visiting friends.

Took friends from Canada for a meal at Little Bay. Considerable choice on menu to accommodate all diets. Food was plentiful, hot when served and enjoyable to eat. Pricing very good. Will definitely return and happy to recommend. Just don't get rid of the chef!

Sunday at an empty Little Bay- Croydon not a popular venue in 30 degree heat!A beautifully cooked meal. My wife had a really tasty lamb shoulder. My chicken breast was really moist in a mushroom/cheese/ pepper sauce, and my daughter’s pasta top quality.Will go back soon.

Food is amazing staff are amazing especially the 2 Italian girls they really do go above and beyond to make your experience the best! I make this a monthly occurrence and every time I try a new dish such a reasonable price for tasty and well presented food. Chef is 10/10

My wife and I enjoyed another excellent meal in Little Bay today and the experience exceeded our expectations.We first dined in its predecessor in 1978 and have continued enjoying consistently good meals in the same restaurant when it became Little Bay several decades ago.Our experience today was one of the best as the food was just as good as usual and the service was even better.We would have no hesitation recommending Little Bay to friends and family.Thank you George, Harry and Nina for looking after us.We will be back soon.

we usually visit twice a month, we though to order a takeout due to covid - The menu was really nice, but the food was not the same as in house. We love the restaurant but the quality was zero to none. Please aim to work on better quality food, we will visit after lockdown now. I hope you can work on this.

Today had a delivery fromLittle Bay via Deliveroo.. King Prawns, Haloum,i and Crab Profiteroles, followed by Burger, Lamb and Pork... Amazing.. have been to the restaurant many times, but this was the first delivery.. Simply amazing .. great food delivered piping hot in 30 minutes or so... cannot recommend highly enough .. well done. !! support your local restaurants... support little Bay.. we need them when all this blows over.

My friend and I were due to have a meal here tonight to celebrate his birthday but due to us now being in Tier 4 it got cancelled. We decided we still wanted their food so ordered it for delivery. We had the butterfly king prawns and moules mariniere for starters, both delicious. We then both had the traditional roast turkey as neither of us would be having it on Christmas Day. A generous portion of moist and tasty turkey slices, roast potatoes, carrots, sprouts, stuffing, gravy, mini sausages and a little pot of cranberry sauce, all very well cooked and presented in a sturdy container. Needed a break before we tackled our desserts, again both us us went for our favourite - white chocolate and pistachio parfait and pulled our crackers. A very enjoyable meal, next best to actually being there.Well done Little Bay!

Celebrating our anniversary on the day Christmas was cancelled. Crab in Choux as a warm starter was generous and delicious. Lamb with beans and green veg lovely. Desserts chose. We’re banoffe pie and apple cake. All delicious. Well done. And thank you. Only the atmosphere of the restaurant in normalCircumstances could have toppedThis. Enjoyed a really tasty meal here. Lovely parsons pastry starter which was full of smoked chicken and mushrooms. Full of flavour and a good portion size. The slow cooked shoulder of lamb with butter beans etc, was very enjoyable. The venue is quirky and the service excellent. Great value for money. I would certainly return

Visited on a Monday night it was just about full with a lovely atmosphere. Staff here are friendly and helpful and will always help you make a good menu choice . We had moules and goats cheese parcel then lamb rump and stuffed plaice we wanted a dessert but we were so full ! So good we are booked again for next week . Little Bay in Kilburn was our favourite place to visit in West London until I had a bad experience with one of their staff members. We decided to try Croydon site and were not disappointed. Food was nice, I absolutely loved the king prawn starter. Was a little disappointed with the chicken main as it tasted very bland and didn't have the quality expected from our previous visits at Kilburn restaurant. Cheesecake as always was the best :) Staff was very friendly and efficient. All in all, for the price you pay its definitely a must-visit.

I’ve been here with my colleagues for our Christmas party and the atmosphere was particular. It looks like a small theatre inside. On the day there was an opera singer on stage which actually walked through the table singing for the most part Italian Lyrics Song. She was pretty good at it and was engaging, she tried to involve everyone.The food was ok, I mean like average but was a bit overpriced.This is the reason for the 3 stars.I might came back but not for dinner just drink and few nibbles.

The decoration is beautiful and the food is delicious, great for any occasion, definetely recommended, service is also great with good social distance and a high level of cleaniness

Have been going to this place for years and booked a table for friends visiting last month. Standard of food good but could not but help notice a couple of the young waitresses were a bit abrupt an almost irritated .I put it down to tiredness - hope it doesn't continue though .

To be honest, it was hard for our friend to find a local L this month and so we ended up here. The staff were great although they didn't have a record of our booking but the food was mediocre and the decor was just a little bizarre for us. We were sat in the 'novel' balcony which was a little difficult to get in and out and had wires hanging above our heads. The food was good, nothing spectacular and we were disappointed with the drinks menu. It was good value for money. Parking in that area is extremely limited and you may need to walk a fair bit.

Friday night dinner with family of 4 . It was lovely to have a balcony table . Great safe service . We wore masks to our table & all the staff wore masks . Delicious choices on a l Carte menu included mussels , goats cheese parcel , chicken breast with mozzarella & duck . Such a fabulous South Croydon gem !

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough . I visit as much as I can as the food and service is outstanding . Tonight I enjoyed goats cheese parcel to start then crab stuffed plaice washed down with cava and house red . Shared the delicious cheesecake . Seriously the food just gets better and better . Though I have lived in Croydon 50 years, this was my first visit to this restaurant (which I believe used to trade as Chalet Suisse). It is situated off the main high street and at a crossroads. Well patronised on Tuesday evening, which we discovered was probably due to the owner extending a taxpayer subsidy applied the previous month. We had a table by an open front window, Access was up a short flight of stairs. Inside the loo was down further stairs.Foodwise, the baked field mushrooms were lovely, and the confit de canard was cooked less than I really like (the meat did not fall off the bone). Service was cheerful.Because of the discount, price was very good value for money and perhaps might have warranted a 4 marking

Visited here twice in a month. Love it, we had the duck, lamb and chicken. All was delicious especially the shoulder of lamb. It was exceptional and best lamb I’ve had. Pudding is great burst of flavour! Will be regular here now 😁

This was my first dining experience post-lockdown and I was a little nervous. However, the staff were fantastic; they were attentive, friendly, and I felt reassured immediately.I had the butterfly king prawns (very tasty!), followed by the lemon & herb crusted salmon, which unfortunately was rather dry. I shared the apple cake with my boyfriend, and loved every bite!Despite the disappointing main course, overall the food was delicious and excellent value! As a South Croydon local, I look forward to eating here again in the future.

Wednesday lunchtime visit, the restaurant was full due to the eat out 50% scheme. From start to finish, service was exceptional, food was great. Pleased to see proper children's menu...smaller version of adult meals. No negatives, we've already booked to return next month.

First time eating at Little Bay this year and it’s great to see that despite everything going on, it’s hasn’t lost its charm.We hadn’t booked but the manager kindly squeezed us in (even though they were extremely busy with the 50% discount scheme).We did have a longer than usual wait for our food, but it was understandable and when you’re having great food and paying £25 for two courses for two people, there really is nothing to complain about!Still one of the best restaurants in South Croydon.

Another enjoyable evening at LB where the service never disappoints. I would give it 5 stars but my pork medallions were a bit on the tough side tonight, however everything else was delicious. My son whose exam results we came to celebrate, had the rump of lamb (à la carte) which he enjoyed thoroughly and my daughter had the shoulder of lamb from the children's menu and was equally delighted. Great job again by the service staff who always do their best to satisfy our quirky requests. We will go there again before long. P.S.: I have posted reviews here before but seems to have vanished.

The food was good as always, and the service was fine. However, it would be worth the restaurant remembering that many of their customers are elderly and do not have smart phones and Q readers. It surely is not a huge issue to be able to supply paper menus or laminated ones which are wiped down after each use. I felt patronised by the duty manager who went to considerable lengths to tell me how photographing a menu with a smart phone was better for everybody, that plastic is worse than paper and that it isn't all over because the restaurants are open. I am aware of that. I am also aware that other restaurants do not appear to have a problem with supplying hard copies of their menus. Frankly, I felt uncomfortable and will think twice before going again.

Really well set up for Covid19. The menu is quite extensive and we had a difficult time choosing what we wanted. In the end we went for the butterfly prawns and the satay chicken and then we all had the plaice stuffed with crab. Bottles of wine between 20 and 30 pounds. We had a cocktail but wouldn't again as we preferred the wine. They didn't rush us at all and the service was excellent. They were offering the £10 off which was a bonus. Highly recommend this restaurant. There were a lot of families in too. I've been here in the evening when they have the opera singer and that's fun too.

I've been here a handful of times whilst living in Croydon and have never been blown away, but after getting an email from them about their Eat out to Help Out offer I thought we'd give it another go, two courses for around £12 (after discount) on a hot Monday night. Nothing had changed since I last went there maybe 2 years ago, the food is ok, the setting 'interesting' but on a hot August evening it's quite uncomfortable as they have no AC. Luckily we were seated at the front of the restaurant by the window which meant we got a bit of fresh air. Service was friendly and fast, menus were access via QR code on your phones but there didn't seem to be many tables removed for social distancing. The food is fine, tasty, but most of the menu was a bit heavy for a hot day. With the discount it was good value, but I'd probably not rush back here at full price. Lots of people love Little Bay but for me it's just OK.

This is a Jewel of a place. My wife and I chose the Little Bay for our wedding anniversary meal this year. My wife knew it from quite a long time ago, but it was my first visit. We found the staff to be friendly and attentive, the food to be very tasty and of a good portion size. We especially liked that it was served to us hot. There was a good choice on the menu. We had the three course option, which was amazing value. Quirky decor, but a treasure. Being local, we will definitely be back regularly.

Went here on our first date night since I stopped shielding. Great atmosphere, beautiful decor and lovely, helpful and be attentive wait staff. My steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were some of the be best I tasted. Reasonably priced too. Can't wait to go back.

A party of ten looking for a relaxed late lunch to celebrate a birthday with a zero on the end of it.I have lived in Croydon all my life and remember this little bistro type place when it was the 'Chalet Suisse' - but in over 50-years I confess to never having set foot in the place. I wish had gone earlier - I will have to make up for lost time.

The food was not only delicious, but also very reasonably priced. The evening entertaining was brilliant, too. I would highly recommend visiting the Little Bay.

Went here on Saturday evening with my husband, brother and sister in-law ,there was live music which was a little bit too loud admittedly, but a really nice atmosphere in the place , the waitress’s were extremely pleasant, helpful and friendly (top marks ) It is a bit on the shabby side but that was fine.The food is quite good , one complaint hardly anything for a vegetarian to choose from , I had the baked aubergine , it only came with a small bit of lettuce , which was disappointing, it’s good job I wasn’t hungry. My husband and his brother both had steaks and they were quite generous with their portions, they had no complaints, also my sister in law had the chicken , which she enjoyed. All three of them had starters too , no complaints there .We will go back as it was a really nice evening , I’ll just make sure I order some side dishes .

I did feel as though I’d turned into Jack Sparrow upon entry and felt a need to rig up a ship. The decor is quite something. The food is your usual steak n chips type meal or creamy sauce everything but cannot fault the staff, food portions and that the meal was served hot and rapid. I liked it but only enough for one visit for me but it’s a lovely place if you’re into something different. Well done to the random opera singer.

This place is a little gem, it's like ceing in a dream, totally unique! there's red velvet everywhere, little thetre style booths and live opera! The food is great too, and as you'd expect sfom somewhere so original the service is outstanding.

We were a large party upstairs as it was a busy Saturday evening. The staff (two young ladies) were excellent - they managed to meet all our requests and genuinely wanted to ensure we enjoyed the meal. All our guests were impressed at how they managed to serve everyone almost at the same time and the food was fresh and hot. We have been there many times before and always enjoyed the service, food and entertainment. On this occasion we were astounded at the superb service. Many thanks to all the staff. Can't wait to go back.

I booked this restaurant for an evening out with work colleagues. So much fun with the lady opera singer, highly recommend going, food is good portions and tasty and such a quirky venue I love it.

I cannot praise this restaurant enough!!Had my dads 80th birthday here on Saturday and as there were 32 of us they offered us the room upstairs which was perfect.We all ordered from the set menu and all of our orders came at the same time, lovely hot and fresh! Everyone loved their food.One of my friends is a vegan and she absolutely loved her baked aubergine :)The staff that work in there are amazing and so helpful they made my dads birthday an evening to remember.Thank you so much we will be back again and again!

Stumbled upon Little Bay in Croydon so decided to check it out.

Food is always very good and prices are reasonable. The back part of the restaurant has a lovely decor with mezzanine balconies, including small ones for a more romantic dinner. Some days they have opera singers.

Brilliant place the French-style menu is always extremely nice and so we go a couple of times a year. Good atmosphere extremely good waitresses and waiters

We hadn't been here for a while and came with friends for lunch on New Year's Eve. What a triumph! The food was absolutely top class and so delicious. We all ate off the set menu (3 courses £20.95). Big choice and such good value. My friend and I both had the crab filled fillet of plaice with new potatoes and spinach - so tasty. The desserts are mouthwatering and I can definitely recommend the white chocolate and pistachio parfait. We had a bottle of Prosecco and beers and although the drinks are quite costly, it didn't mar our experience. The decor is so quirky - done out like a theatre. The service was superb and the seating comfortable. I cannot wait to return. Top marks Little Bay - keep doing what you're doing.
