Little Bay Cafe in Argyll & Bute

My hubby and I recently had coffee and a sandwich here and they where lovely. I had a coronation chicken sandwich and it was delicious. The staff where lovely and the coffee was great.

We (my other half, my daughter and I) had a quick coffee break this afternoon: I ordered a red velvet mini-cake, my daughter a carrot mini-cake, and she had a flavoured water while I ordered a flat white and my other half a caffelatte with cinnamon on top. Everything went well, though the caffelatte had no cinnamon but chocolate powder and my flat white had no steamed milk on top, just very flat. Lovely view and staff were nice. Francesco

Happy Experience in this little gem of cafe in Oban food and friendliness of staff was brilliant and cleanliness of premises good.

My daughter and myself came here for lunch. My daughter ordered a cheese and chutney sandwich with soup and paid. I ordered a sweet chilli chicken toastie and soup. While I was ordering the girl behind the counter told my daughter she could wait outside and they would bring it to her. My daughter explained that she was just waiting for me. We took a seat outside. My daughter's food was brought to her just a few minutes later. A paper bag with the sandwiches in it and a paper cup of soup. The menu said the soup and sandwiches should be served with some side salad. She wanted to wait for my food to arrive before starting. We waited for about 10 mins then I went in to check where my food was. I was told it was ready but they couldn't see me outside so just brought it in and left on the counter. The girl behind the counter put it back in the toastie grill for a couple of minutes and whacked it into a paper bag. Again no salad! When I got my food I went outside and we both started to eat. The minute my daughter removed her sandwich from the bag you could see the cheap margarine in it. More margarine than cheese. She wasn't asked if she wanted spread on it. My daughter only eats butter and cannot stomach margarine. She tried to scrape off the spread but it was slapped on so thickly that it was everywhere. She took one bite but it was so disgusting she couldn't stomach it. I just think it shouldn't be assumed that anyone wants a pile of cheap margarine on their sandwich. You should be asked. My food was just average. Looked like a cute little seaside cafe but unfortunately not. Very basic food and poor customer service. Definitely won't be back and wouldn't recommend.

Absolutely awful service. I sat down at their outside table whilst my husband went in to order our lunch. Firstly the 2 tables that were empty were not cleared. A member of staff said to my husband they were not serving customers as they had ran out of essentials and pointed him to the next door cafe. The cafe next door shares the same area of tables. The same staff member then came over to me and said I could not sit at the table and I’d need to move somewhere else to sit as they were not serving customers. I was so taken aback I got up and went to say to my husband in the cafe next door. At this same time a couple came out of the cafe next door and sat at the table I was just moved from but no one came out and asked them to move, although they did not purchase from the little bay cafe.

We visited the Little Bay Cafe, 23/4/2024 while visiting Oban, we have been before on a previous visit, the staff are very friendly and the food was very good, the portions were very good and the food was reasonably priced, I would recommend a visit if visiting Oban.

Little Bay Cafe is as cheery as its lemon-yellow exterior. Joy, the owner, made us breakfast sandwiches and coffee, which we enjoyed on the patio overlooking the boats in the bay. What a delight! This was our first time in Oban, and we were thoroughly charmed by the place and the people! Thinking of extending your stay? Ask Joy about her newly renovated flat just around the corner. Gorgeous!

We called in here for bacon rolls and coffee to take away as we were leaving Oban that morning. Plenty of bacon in the roll and the coffee was hot and tasty.

back for our annual visit and not disappointed although there seems to be new faces working in the cafe they were still as chatty and friendly as last years staff who always went above and beyond for us. would recommend this little cafe to anyone.

Coffee was overpriced , and I was moved on from my outside table as they wanted to close up I had my coffee in my hand for 5 minutes , disgusting service , never again

Wir sind durch Zufall aufs Little Bay Café gestoßen und mochten es auf den ersten Blick sofort. Viele Einheimische waren dort und man hat sich direkt zugehörig gefühlt. Der Service ist sehr nett, schnell und das Essen wird frisch zubereitet. Das Café bietet Sandwiches, Bagels, Suppe & Co. an. Zum Frühstücken vielleicht nicht unbedingt geeignet, aber wenn der kleine Hunger kommt und man mal eine Pause einlegen möchte, dann ist es perfekt.

This cafe is located on the harbour and provides views over the inner harbour. There is some outdoor seating. It looks rather unpromising but is fine. We only wanted coffee, which was reasonable, but the food looked good - not sophisticated but tasty. Service was reasonably friendly and effective

Found this little gem while visiting oban over the weekend..... was welcomed by very friendly staff behind the counter, We opted to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine, we ordered and our food was brought out quickly. Both food and drinks were great. Would reccomend to anyone and will definitely be back again.

What an amazing little cafe. Great staff, very attentive to everyone around. Food was amazing, fully accommodating to two fussy eaters and a vegetarian. Would come back to Oban to visit this cafe alone

What a lovely little cafe overlooking Oban’s harbour. Food we had was absolutely lovely, we had a baked potatoe and it was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. The service from the staff was brilliant, very friendly and helpful , one female stood out really well but didn’t catch her name. They we also brilliant with our young children . Great service overall . Will definitely be returning on our next vist.

Staff were friendly and nice view of the bay but the food was very average. Only white bread available and hardly any cheese in the sandwich. Not very impressed. Won’t be returning.

The service was poor, god knows what the ‘butter’ was they put on the bacon rolls but I doubt it came from milk, bacon was desperate. I would avoid.

Sat outside in the little square over looking the harbour with a lovely cup of coffee. The view of the harbour is great and seats comfy.

Asked for a tea and a coffee, were warmly greeted by 2 lovely young ladies, we were not asked if we wanted to sit in or out, sat down at a table inside only to be shouted at by a man behind the counter asking if we were eating in or taking away? Rude or what!!!! If we had been asked when we ordered we would have told them. Coffee and tea nice, vloke behind the counter rude!!!

Debido al distanciamiento social, el espacio interior era muy limitado y como estaba lloviendo no podía sentarse afuera. Sin embargo, el panini con ensalada y un café con leche era agradable y el personal era amable.El único inconveniente fue que no me di cuenta hasta después de que no había instalaciones sanitarias, ya que era tan pequeño y tuve que ir a buscar un baño público.

Preguntamos si podíamos sentarnos a desayunar, sin cortesías de los 4 miembros del personal detrás del mostrador. La "mantequilla" del rollo era una especie de pasta para untar en lugar de la mantequilla real, por lo que no se derretía y simplemente cubría el tocino, no era agradable. La mejor parte del desayuno fueron los huevos, pero sin tostadas para absorber la yema. El café sabía a leche caliente, el té estaba bien. El personal marcó la pauta: hostil, antipático, brusco. La comida reflejaba esto. No lo recomendaría.

We just had tea and toast at this charming little cafe. What can you say about tea and toast ? It was lovely fresh bread and the tea was nice and hot. The staff were friendly and there is outside seating.

Larga espera por malos cafés y mala comida. Solo si se le daba una rebanada de tocino apenas allí en un panecillo, el desayuno vegetariano (pequeñas porciones de verduras empapadas y huevos cocidos) tenía que ser desechado. . . servicio encantador del personal joven y excelente ubicación, pero nos sentimos como si estuviéramos desplumados ya que no regresaríamos regularmente y tuvimos que esperar un tiempo significativo por comida pobre / escasa.

Nos sentamos afuera para comer tostadas, que estaban bastante bien, pero el servicio no fue muy amable y un poco lento. Inicialmente nos sentamos en la mesa inmediatamente fuera de la cafetería, pero nos mudamos a una más alejada ya que la cola para la heladería de al lado nos estaba rodeando y muy cerca, lo cual era desagradable y no se sentía seguro en estos tiempos de covid. No puedo creer que la cafetería no le haya pedido a la heladería que dirija la cola a otra parte, ya que debe evitar que los clientes potenciales vean la entrada, y mucho menos se dirijan al pedido. Entré para preguntar si tenían retrete, me ignoraron hasta que hablé y luego me dirigí con mal humor a los retretes públicos en el muelle cercano. El sol, la vista y la comida estaban bien, incluso bien, pero el personal redujo la experiencia en general. Probablemente no volvería a ir.

Waited a ridiculously long time for 3 coffee’s. People were asking for refunds left, right and centre. Staff were clueless 🤷🏻‍♂️

We went for lunch on Friday 17th July and have never come across such rude members of staff. The cafe was busy after months of lockdown but the two female staff seemed to find customers an inconvenience - they were very abrupt and had run out of popular lunch choices. The cafe was supposed to be open until 5pm but they decided to shut at 3pm and were turning customers away. There are nicer cafes in Oban with much nicer staff who would appreciate your custom. We were very surprised to be treated in this way, especially since the cafe has been shut for over 4 months. On health and safety, the two staff members had no masks, no gloves, no hand sanitiser, and did not ask for details for track and trace. This is unacceptable during the coronavirus pandemic and this is the only cafe we have visited without any measures in place.

Llevamos más de 20 años de vacaciones en Escocia y nunca tuvimos una mala experiencia en cuanto a restaurantes, tiendas, etc. No es así en esta ocasión. No sé si el personal tuvo un mal día, pero esto no disculparía la forma en que nos trataron.Un amigo y yo fuimos a hacer nuestro pedido. Mi amiga no podía tener ningún producto lácteo y no especificó mantequilla en su sándwich, las otras dos órdenes fueron con mantequilla. La joven detrás del mostrador lo bajó. Salimos a nuestra mesa y esperamos. La comida llegó pero solo para dos personas, así que entramos para ver qué había sucedido. Solo tenían dos órdenes registradas y parecían un poco desconcertadas. Se quedó con ellos y volvimos a salir y esperamos.Un miembro del personal salió y nos informó que eso no podía servirnos, ya que estábamos sentados en el lugar equivocado, a pesar de traer dos comidas antes y no señalar esto. Creo que esperaban que nos fuéramos en este punto, pero uno de nuestro grupo vio otra mesa y nos mudamos. Cuando se cumplió la orden que faltaba, se hizo de una manera hosca. Fue una experiencia perturbadora para ser sincero. Si hubo un error con la orden, no hay problema, ocurren errores, pero tratarnos así no era apropiado. La orden no fue complicada, pero la persona que la tomó no hizo caso.

Terrible place. Staff rude. Happy enough to pay expensive prices for the view but given the way staff spoke cancelled order and left.

Great coffee last week and views over the harbour I’d say the cakes let you down on the £4.50 offer as a chef they were very poor to be honest

Quite a charming little cafe. Was very busy through the day. Best to sit outside if you can.I only took a coffee. Served (if sitting outside) in a compostable cup with a PLASTIC LID would you believe. Defeats the purpose.But a lovely position overlooking the harbour and ferry terminal.

Richtiger Kaffee mit einer italienischen Espressomaschine zubereitet und glutenfreier Karottenkuchen, dazu der Blick auf den geschäftigen Hafen von den Tischen draußen vor dem Cafe. Die Bedienung wirkte etwas unmotiviert, ansonsten alles gut.

Nos detuvimos para almorzar y no nos decepcionó. 1 bocado ligero compuesto de salmón, langostinos con aderezo de rosa Marie, ensalada y aderezo casero. 1 bagel de salmón y queso crema con patatas fritas vegetarianas y ensalada. Deliciosa comida recién hecha, personal amable y relación calidad-precio. Muy recomendable. ??

As it was pouring with rain we nipped into this wee cafe, the Pier Cafe for a quick lunch. I opted for the roast beef and horseradish sandwich, my husband had a cheese and onion panini and my son had a ham sandwich, all with juice and a packet of crisps. We got veg crisps with our sandwiches and we scoffed the lot. It was quite a small seating area, thankfully we got a seat but there is some outdoor seats if the weather is fairer. We would come again, its good value for money and all made fresh.

A small number of tables inside and a few outside means this gets very busy. Sandwiches and toasties are freshly made and served promptly. Only suggestion would be for a ‘cash only’ sign to be more prominent.

We stopped here on a couple of occasions for a snack and coffee, The person who served us was really helpful and not a bother.

Not wishing to pay for expensive and inflexible breakfasts in the hotel we stayed in, we looked out for suitable cafes and tried three during our week's stay. This was a clear favourite, and we went three times, including on our last morning before setting off on the long journey home.

I have just returned from a first time holiday at Oban and really enjoyed it.

With excellent coffee and a wide range of cake, what more do you need? Despite the town being inundated with passengers from a cruise liner (including us) we found an inside table and where impressed with the friendly service, good coffee and amazing cakes. When the sun is shining as it was on our visit, the outside tables provide an amazing view of the harbour and surrounding scenery.

We were fortunate to sit inside this bustling little place although plenty of seating outside. Pre-packed sandwiches but also a 'made fresh' menu. A constant queue at the counter kept 3 staff very busy. Overlooks the bay and ferry port.

Sorry won’t be back! £19.10 for two soups a tea and a cold coffee, no I didn’t this so. All this and you had to order at the counter as well! To be honest I think I’m a bit generous with three stars.

For the last four years we have gone to the Little Bay Cafe for a hearty breakfast on the Saturday morning of the Oban Live Festival weekend. Usually after a brief wait we are able to get seats outside in the sun () and order the mandatory full cooked breakfast. It never disappoints. The staff are extremely friendly and albeit we arrived about 1145 am this year, they were able to provide a superb breakfast that set us all up for the rest of the day; they even went and sourced a candle to produce a “birthday” scone type creation for my wife’s birthday!!!! If you wanted somewhere to sit and watch the world go by, in magnificent surroundings whilst eating some splendid food, I could heartily recommend spending some time at the Little Bay Cafe.

My friend John had this yesterday and loved it. He will be going back for more tomorrow! We just had coffee today and the staff were very friendly. Nice outdoor seating as well with a lovely view.

I visited this cafe with my husband, my son & 2 grandchildren-we sat outside & enjoyed the view but the food was very disappointing & the toilet facilities were awful. My chowder soup was thin & salty & a small portion & the toasties were dry-everything was overpriced. We had to ask what an empty bowl was provided for as they had forgotten to fill it with crisps. The children needed to use the toilet which we discovered is unfit for public use, when this was pointed out the staff member said it was only meant for staff use-no toilet paper, filthy & many hazards-unfit for staff & public!

Popped in here for some morning coffee and asked for decaf coffee. Asked if the coffee was fresh ground ie not instant (for some reason people think it is ok to give you an instant coffee when you ask for decaf). Was told not only was it not instant but they gave double shots. Excellent went outside coffees appeared. Ohh I thought this doesn’t taste like fresh coffee, it tastes like Mr Nescafé made this one. Went back inside asked is this instant coffee yes sorry it is, got my money back £5.20. What a waste of time. The flat white was also pretty bad as well. Don’t be fooled by an Illy sign.

Sitting outside in the sun made this place quite ok. The staff could be more friendly though, and their toilets are horrible.

Visited this little cafe for the second time bringing a couple of friends, the cakes are delicious and all freshly baked, I had the carrot cake which was very moist and my friends had lemon sponge, it was so tasty we got 2 slices to take away, there were 2 members of staff working both very friendly and chatty and very helpful with our 101 questions, will defiantly be back.

The staff is very friendly and there is a nice selection of cakes. I tried a white spongy one that was pretty good. The coffee was average and a bit slow in being prepared. Generally busy place.

Beware and count Your change!! Got peppermint and English breakfast in paper cups. Was charged £5. When I checked prices on the wall it clearly says £1.7 for paper cup tea and £2.5 for teapot. I went back and questioned the total, was told I had herbal teas and they are £2.5. No, I had EB and peppermint. Oh, ok, right. Was refunded 80p. When asked where it says herbal teas are £2.5 (it doesn’t say anywhere, all teas are the same price) I was told we sat at table outside so it’s £2.50 anyway. Not the point - they didn’t know we may sit outside when selling paper cup tea for the price of teapot one. Very dishonest and cheeky, not the way to run a customer focussed business.

Lovely place, in the city centre, tables outside. We enjoyed the windy but sunny day sitting on a table at the Little Bay. It was quite busy, we got an espresso coffee and some sweets. The espresso should change name, that was only coloured water. The carrot cake was delicious. The view is gorgeous, the seafront and the sea....

Y nunca pudimos probar nada después de darnos cuenta de que solo cobraban efectivo (solo teníamos una tarjeta de crédito). Volveremos a probar la comida en nuestra próxima visita!

On a sunny day one can enjoy the bay view and warmth of the sun. The fresh baked goods are a delight to the nose. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

This is what a cafe should be in my view. Great workies great coffee and grub with an added bonus of freshly baked lemon drizzle cake. The cake was worth the 5 stars alone!

Nous avons essayés tous les petits café de cette baie. Le meilleur nous semble être le Dolce Vita mais ils ont tous une petite particularité. Les gens sont tous très accueillants.
