Lins Fish and Chip Shop in New Forest

Simply the best fish and chips in the country. All fish cooked fresh. Light coating which is easier to digest. The chips are glorious, not greasy, limp or overcooked, just cooked perfectly. Well done Lins again.

We were visiting relatives in New Milton last week and I suggested we have fish and chips - as it was too cold to eat them down by the sea we looked for somewhere we could buy to take them hone and my inlaws recommended Lins. Good choice - we chose this one purely as parking was easier. When we arrived there seemed to be a queue out of the door but the staff were very efficient at serving customers and the queue soon disappeared. There are some seats in the shop if you want to park your bum whilst waiting.

£17 for 2x cod and chips, went here due to good reviews, but was disappointed. The fish was very thin and had a mushy batter. Not very good at all.

Absolutely delicious, light, not greasy. I ate the whole lot, when normally I can't, and have to take batter off. The fish is done fresh as you wait, beautiful, light and crisp. The chips are the best! I'd highly recommend, and we'll be visiting every Friday from now. Thank you, all at Lins.

I have never NOT had excellent, fish or chips from Lins, the staff are very efficient, and do not to keep you waiting to take your order. Absolutely superb food, every time I call in.

Really sorry but I don’t get all the good reviews, maybe we just went on a bad day. The cod was wafer thin with loads of soggy batter, the cod itself was really dry if I’m honest and the batter not crisp at all. The chips, some were nice but many were tiny crunchy bits so not edible at all. It was also really oily like it hadn’t been drained properly and the oil came through the wrapping and bags. We chose this shop simply because of the great reviews so we’re obviously disappointed as we’d traveled to get there. The lady and gent were friendly so no complaint there and it looked spotlessly clean which is god. . £17 for two cod and chips which would have been ok had it had been nice.

It doesn’t look much but wow this chippy is brilliant. Camping nearby and rain meant needed a comfort supper. This didn’t disappoint. Best fish and chips I’ve had in years. Crispy batter, perfect chips. No grease and big portion.

Good quality fish and chips. 2 months ago. But today- over- fried cod which was very thin. Chips were almost soggy with oil. So a very variable experience. I won't be going back now as its my second bad experience in some 4 years.

Everything cooked perfectly and tasted fine. Service was very good and fast.

The fish & chips was amazing, the best we ever had , we previously had a couple of years ago while on holiday, so as we were back again this year we had to come back , the batter on the fish was so light absolutely delicious cooked to perfection. This part is from my granddaughter : I love chicken pie I have always been looking for the perfect pie 🥧 it was soooo delicious i loved the pie I just want to order one million so I can have everyday for every meal so yummyyyy yummy in my tummy 🤤 ☺️ and yes I’m so happy to have the opportunity to eat the pie 🥧 yummy pie 😜. We all definitely recommend Lins fish 🐠 & chips 🍟 . Their service was outstanding. When we come back on our holiday again we will all definitely be coming back. So anyone looking for a proper decent fish & chip shop go & visit Lins in new milton Dorset you won’t be disappointed 10/10 from all our family 😀😀.

While on holiday a couple of years we found this little fish & chip shop. We were on holiday last week we had to go back to Lins , outstanding service with outstanding food.. The fish was cooked to perfect & the batter was so light.. My granddaughter had the chicken pie & said it was the best ( this is coming from a fussy eater who loves chicken pie) The next time we’re in new milton we will be definitely coming back. Lins fish & chips beats all the shops were we live. Anyone looking for a decent fish shop we certainly recommend Lins 10/10 for fantastic food & customer service. If we lived in the area this would be our top fish & chip takeaway 👍👍👍

I’m from out of town, tried this chip shop, honestly the best fish and chips I’ve ever had and I used to have my own chip shop. Fish coated in a light batter and cooked to perfection, wish this chip shop was in my home town.

Best fish and chips takeaway in the area (we tried all of them). Good sized, tasty portions and great value for what you get. Quick and efficient service too. Cash machine opposite at the Tesco if you need it. Plenty of nearby roadside parking, Takeaway only, no tables. * prices/menu correct as of July '23.

Clean and tidy fish and chip shop, it can get busy but this is because they serve really good quality food, also even when busy it doesn't take long to be served.

The cod was fresh and flaky. The batter was ok. Nice tangy curry sauce. Chunky chips made with good quality potato and oil. A 8/10. The portion size is huge.

After looking for a chip shop near to our caravan park , this one didn’t come up , but husband got fed up with waiting for a local one ran by youngsters who couldn’t be bothered, and found Lins ,in new Milton omg it’s amazing !!

Discovered this place in the pandemic, and have never found a chip shop that compares. Any time we're in the area we make sure to get chips to eat on the seafront from Lins. Fast, hot, and extremely tasty food. The staff are always polite, and the shop is clean.

Number 1 fish and chips, simple food done extremely well, today ordered for my family not one complaint from anyone them cod full of flavour chips crispy and fluffy perfect. The shop does get busy so best to ordered as the food is always cooked fresh.

After using "Lins" many times, I have to say having purchased 1 large haddock and two portions of chips 0n 25/2/22 to our dismay upon opening up the meal to eat, the fish was just warm and certainly not fresh out of the oil. The Chips were pre cooked leftovers reheated and making them overcooked! Certainly NOT! fresh. It's not about the price paid but on this occasion it really was not good enough!! "Lins" have a captive market where their locations is and no excuse for dropping their usual high standard. Please! watch what is being packaged when you order for you may find the same experience.

Really disappointed! Read reviews and so diverted to here from our holiday base in the New Forest as looked forward to a good fish and chip supper in our caravan. It looked good but tasted of absolutely nothing, the fish was not moist flaky and white so not sure if stored too long but seemed stale, frozen not fresh - a real shame as the batter was good. Chips OK. Our take away was definitely not 5 stars, sorry.

This has got to be the best fish and chip take away in the country. Everything is always cooked to perfection and taste fantastic every time I've had them. Great price too. Small cod and chips mushy peas and a saverloy £8:20. Awesome.

We spotted Lins Fish & Chip shop this week so thought we would give it a try. It did not disappoint. We had large cod, plaice, medium chips (enough for 3) and mushy peas. Delicious.

This take away serves up about the best fish and chips that we have had since moving down from London over 4 years ago. The batter is light and crispy and the chips are firm and well cooked, not swimming in fat. Will go back again when my diet allows. Portions are humongous, I am not sure how the cod ever got that big.

Lovely fresh cod and crispy golden chips 😋 crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside , to complete a perfect meal we drove back to Barton on sea to enjoy them with a Seaview.

Reputedly the best chips in town. And they are good. This is an honest old fashioned chippy serving up all that you would expect and at reasonable prices. I'll declare now that I prefer Ashley's over all, but Lins is definitely better chips. Don't think you'll find anyone local with a bad word to say about this place.

Chips were dreadful, more thin skinny slices of hard potato. Hardly any decent sized chips, just rubbish. Really not good, sorry!
