Lino's Restaurant in Wirral

This used to be our , favourite restaurant, however the menu which hasn’t changed in recent months , is so disappointing.we haven’t been for ages. We went with friends on our Christmas night out.( their choice ) We were hoping for some exciting specials and some festive dishes , to boost the menu , but were offered spaghetti bolognaise or chicken with pepper sauce as the nights special dishes. Neither exciting or festive .

Can’t believe I’ve only just discovered this restaurant! Food and service was incredible with amazing value for money! Faultless

We were a party of 8 and pre ordered out starters and main courses which worked a treat although its not required - the service is so good. All the dishes were exceptionally good and amazing. The whipped feta cheese starter was sublime and the best I've tasted. The atmosphere in LIno's is ideal as cozy ( you can hear as opposed to 'shouting' which you have to do in more minimalist places ) The best in the area I'd say.

on the 18/11/2023 we visited this Establishment and i must say the food was lovely from starter to dessert and everything was supper it was nice to get a really Hot meal i had shank and it was spot on the ladies were lovely and attentive the chap who made my cocktails was very nice and Courteous and helpful i have walked past this Restaurant everyday for 30 years on the way to work and never been in and we have booked to go again as this is only 5 walkr and I most say the food was much better then the ships

Definitely the best restaurant in Hoylake, perhaps even the Wirral. Service was immaculate and the food was absolutely spot on. I'd go back again just for the chocolate cake! Top stuff.

A good local restaurant serving a Mediterranean influenced menu. Service is friendly and at £25 for two courses it won’t break the bank. There isn’t that much competition locally and the place deserves its success.

My first visit here and it was an excellent choice! A set menu but with various options including Vegetarian choices so something for everyone. The gentle background music was not intrusive for my Tinnitus and so it was easy to chat ( so many places are noisy ) the service was friendly and efficient, the food well seasoned and cooked. I was delighted to find a Tanner's Wine List with varied selection. All said a happy evening with good company.

We are fans of linos it's a little gem we found a few yrs ago and even Wen we hadn't been there for a while during covid when you go in your always made very very welcome by Ian and all the staff there. Having walked by here for years it had never been on our radar to go but wanting to eat local tonight we decided to give it a try. My only disappointment was that we have not gone sooner! A very wide ranging menu given the size of the restaurant, difficult to choose as everything looked tempting. We all enjoyed our meal and thought it was good value. We would definitely return. Friendly staff.

Returning for our first time this year we had a fantastic evening. Warmly greeted by Ian and his attentive bar assistant (impressive gin list!) we barely had to wait before our table was ready. Excellent menu with plenty of choice. Enrico continues to show why he is highly regarded as one of Wirral’s best chefs. Not forgetting a superb wine list, all reasonably priced, and a warm ambience. A complimentary Grappa from Ian’s personal stash and Bailey’s coffee for the wife rounded off a superb meal. If you haven’t been here yet it’s a must.

This used to be our regular place to visit for special occasions, but for some strange reason we haven't been for many years. We decided to introduce our children to Lino's for the first time and they wanted to know why we had kept it a secret from them !The decor has changed but the food is still as good. The salmon and haddock thermadore was so tasty. The ribs and soup also looked appetising . The steaks were cooked to perfection along with the hoi sin duck and pork and served with a selection of vegetables. We just had to have desserts to finish off - creme brulee, white chocolate parfait, dark chocolate marquise and meringue with strawberries.It definitely won't be long until we return again to try some of the other dishes.

over rated and over priced came out of linos feeling like i had been mugged i had the sea bass the whole meal was pretty bland on the plus the staff are very good

Lino's has been a mainstay of good food in Hoylake for many years. My most recent visit did not disappoint. Lovely selection of dishes on the menu to tempt most taste buds. Great value two course offer available. We were a group of 5 and no one was disappointed by their choices. The desserts are to die for too! The maître d' was excellent, providing a great choice of wine and a discreet but attentive service.Lino's is on the main road and there is a free public carpark approximately 50 yards from the entrance. Everything is on the ground floor, so there is easy accessibility for all. It is a small restaurant with a cosy atmosphere, a loyal client base and and excellent chef.

Set menu price for two course excellent choice and generous portions. Really cozy and staff are very welcoming. Would highly recommend. Always wanted to visit and now I have will tell family and friends. Give it a go

Used to come to Lino's when I lived in Hoylake years ago. Came back after many years for dinner last Saturday night to celebrate a very special family occasion and had the most fantastic evening. It was still just as good as I remember and the service is friendly, efficient and professional. Delicious food - best potted shrimps I've ever had and my Mum had the Avocado Barbara - a house speciality which she thoroughly enjoyed. A very very special evening and trip down memory lane for us as a family - we can't wait to go back.

Went here for a birthday celebration and was pleasantly surprised at the extent of the menu for a small family run restaurant. The food itself was superb, all of our party (7 of us) were really happy with both the quality and quantity of the food served. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive. And to top it off the bill was extremely reasonable. Thank You all for a very enjoyable evening.

We've just celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at Lino's and had one of the best meals ever.There's a wide selection of dishes on the menu - something for everyone - and the food is cooked to perfection.

We came for dinner mid week and chose to have the early "pasta and pud" special as we were looking to have pasta meals. The special was £12.99. The place is really nice with comfortable tables and a lovely atmosphere. It was getting quite busy early on so I'm glad we booked last minute. The food was really good - we had cheesy garlic bread and then had a pasta meal each - the gnocci with blue cheese and spinach creamy sauce and penne with crab sauce. (These had better names but that's what was in them). The pasta was amazing! Just wow! Really lovely flavour, generous portions and the food was HOT.

With friends who had been before, I hadn't and we went for the Lino's Pasta & Pud Menu £10PP Tues to Friday 5:30 till 7pm Very good service and excellent meal for the price and drinks weren't too pricey. Hope to revisit in the future

Myself and 5 friends had the most wonderful meal midweek. The service was excellent, the surroundings really nice but the food was the key. All home cooked and fresh and fantastic value. It’s a restaurant I would return to like a shot if I lived locally. Next time I am in Hoylake, it is top of my list of destinations. Wonderful.!!

We had a wonderful meal, I had the steak, and my husband had the fish, we were not disappointed, beautifully served, plates sent back empty!! No room for dessert.

This was a third visit for me, all spread over several years, and I must say that this time I really liked everything about Lino’s. The eponymous Lino was there himself, dining at the table next to ours, and he most graciously allowed me to inflict my Italian on him. The food is a mix of Italian, French, English and other influences with a wide choice. I do agree with a previous reviewer that amounts of food are very large. However we did not let that put us off!! We enjoyed the starter of kidneys in red wine a lot and mains and desserts were equally good. My initial wine choice (a Pinot Noir) had just sold out but the maitre d’ gave me a taster of a cheaper Romanian Pinot Noir which proved to be delicious. My only complaint is that, although the decor and ambience are great (lovely photos of Lino’s homeland, the Ligurian coast) the noise level is quite high in the room.

The first impressions are excellent but somehow this restaurant never quite lives up to your expectations. It’s not easy to work out why. Starters are too big and too rich. Main course is generally fine although vegetables are never great. Most of us left them because they were too crisp and underdone. Service spot on. Such a shame because you always feel it could be so much better.

Once again Linos excels in everything, went for my Birthday and we took my 2 year old grandson because couldnt get a babsitter, Ian was his usual charm personified asked if we needed a special chair, gave him a little fork of his own to eat his chips, food was exceptional as always, we had 3 courses and it was all delicious, what I love about Linos is its atmosphere, no hurrying along eat at your leisure, my son asked where I wanted to go for a Birthday meal and of course I said Linos, and true to form it was the best, well done to all the Team who work there for making it a pleasure to eat.

Food is always delicious here and from two excellent wide-ranging set menus. The front-of-house staff are also top-notch, making everybody feel extremely welcome. Fabulously priced. Desserts to die for!

I have been coming to this restaurant over many years now and I have seen the family dedication to providing excellent food and wine. Absolutely enjoyable experience eating at Lino’s and I would not hesitate to recommend coming here for a meal.

For some reason this place has dropped off our rosta of regular restaurants over recent years, so we were looking forward to our return visit for Saturday night dinner. We were not disappointed, whilst the interior has had a makeover giving it a more modern feel, they have retained the traditional menu with all the favourite classics, the standard of food remains excellent and the atmosphere and service is great. The prices for 2 courses is excellent and the wine list has all your favourite suspects at a very reasonable price. It will definitely return to our list of regulars.

Lovely warm and friendly restaurant with a welcoming host and attentive staff. Surrounding are cosy and inviting and the food was amazing. Very generous portions and a vast amount of starters and mains to choose from. Will be returning soon to try out more of the delicious menu.

We used to live around the corner and had been to this restaurant many years ago when it was run by Lino. Decided to revisit with friends and wow such a pleasant surprise - no longer dated menus and decor but great food, well-prepared and at a good price. Good news too that credit cards were now accepted (last time we had to borrow money from friends!). We loved it so much we have booked again.

Lino's used to be a lovely special occasion restaurant which we always enjoyed. After a gap we revisited a few years ago and were a bit disappointed however we tried it again last week and had a lovely meal which turned out to be excellent value too. Some of the old favourites are still on the menu but portions are more modest (and probably more modern) The Intermezzo (pasta/soup course) has thankfully disappeared - far too much! Four of us ate three courses each and everyone approved of their choice,..there is plenty to choose from. The service is excellent and although it no longer feels as special (but where does?) we will definitely be returning.

Lino's is wonderful. From the moment that you walk in you are made to feel very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble.The restaurant has a small eating area but is big in atmosphere. There could easily have been more tables squeezed in, but the way the current arrangemnt is set up makes for a very comfortable dining experience. Pre-dinner drinks are served in the waiting area which is a nice touch. There is absolutely no rush to get you to go to the table and no rush to leave like many restaurants today. The dining experience is very relaxing. The menu caters for everyone and doesn't disappoint. Everything is cooked to perfection and the attentive staff are available, should you need anything. The food is fresh, very well presented and delicious. This restaurant shouldn't be a secret, everyone should know about it. If you are on the Wirral and want to sample good local food with great service and nice atmosphere, then please head to Linos in Hoylake.

This is one of the best and friendliest places I have ever eaten in. My friends and I have been dining in this wonderful restaurant for years and it never fails to disappoint. You are made to feel special by the staff the minute you enter. It's a small intimate restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. Food is simply delicious. It's a must.

Yo y otros miembros de la familia vinieron a celebrar mi cumpleaños de mi padre 60. A nuestra llegada nos estaban en la zona donde se puede tomar una bebida para comenzar y nos recibieron con una cálida bienvenida por el propietario. Muy atento y amable y entendido. Que estaba bastante concurrida para un martes por la noche, pero el servicio era de primera sigue siendo de primera. La comida estaba perfectamente preparada y el tamaño de la porción era excelente. Ambiente encantador y una estupenda manera de pasar la noche de mi cumpleaños de mi padre. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente y sin duda volvería. Primera visita fue muy impresionado.

The food is consistently good at Lino's and has been over many years. Add to that the personal and pleasant service in restaurant rather than pub surroundings and you're in for a great evening.

From the welcome to the farewell, via some gin & tonics, brown shrimps and calves liver washed down with a good Pinot Grigio, Lino's was as always, excellent. How can it not be far and away the best restaurant in Hoylake?

Great to be back at Lino's. The usual friendly welcome from Ian and Co, excellent, attentive but not obtrusive service and Dover Sole that tastes of the sea. Why go anywhere else on The Wirral?

Had a super meal with friends last night. Super service and food.Their standards never seem to slip and they continue to be innovative with their menu.

on business in the area I checked out tripadvisor and plumped for the number 3 restaurant as the 2 above didn't appeal.A very warm welcome and catering to my desire to not listen to background music I went for prawns in chilli, spinach, bacon, tomatoes and shear gorgeousness. Delicious. This was followed by lamb shank with mash and greens and it was fabulous (although seasoning was needed which is better than over seasoning). i dont always have desserts but had ice cream and to be honest I shouldn't have as I was already stuffed! The ice cream was good though. I did wash all this down with a lively bottle of Chablis. Id go again!

visited with family on a Thursday night, having booked a table for 5. Warm welcome when we arrived, drinks order taken and drinks served quickly and without fuss. Ian always manages to maintain a friendly approach without being over familiar. Had time to consider the menu which is always full of great choices and we all chose a different main course along with a our starters. Food was exceptional standard (dover sole covered the whole plate) and the accompanying wine was just right.We had coffee afterwards (too full for puddings, although again there is a very good choice). Throughout the meal Ian was on hand unobtrusively checking that everything was OK.This is a local restaurant for us and the one we always choose for a special occasion or when family and friends visit and we have never been let down. The prices are mid range and the menu always has something to offer every guest.We will return.

My partner booked us into Linos for our valentines treat as he's currently working & staying in the area and I was staying for the weekend. We bother thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The food was delicious and the service superb - in fact on a par with many top class restaurants- little things such as removing the salt and pepper when we'd finished our mains and taking our coats on arrival and returning them. I had deep fried avocado stuffed with prawns and cream cheese which was amazing followed by the duck and as they were sensible sized portions also managed a dessert which is unheard of normally white chocolate parfait which was to die for. My partner had languostine and prawn starter followed by pork medallions and sticky toffee pudding all of which he raved about. Hats off to the maitre d'e and the chef and the 2 other ladies serving - an excellent team very efficient and friendly for providing an excellent experience. We will return hopefully and we hope you get recognition for all your efforts and we w recommend you to all we know in the area

We have just had yet another fantastic night at linos .We never went in 2016 and now we realise how great the food and staff are and how much we have missed it. Ian is the best host of anywhere we have eaten he always remembers names and drinks people like which makes things so personnel. Definitely a place for those "in the know". I've been to Lino's a few times over the years, and it never disappoints. The food is alway excellent, the portions are unfailingly generous, and the service is brisk, friendly and helpful without ever becoming over-bearing.On this occasion I had the deep fried prawn-filled avocado to start, duck for the main course. My companion had chicken liver paté followed by pork medallions. Everything was faultless, and it's a mystery to me how such generous portions can be served for such a reasonable price.Despite being a bit full, we were treating ourselves, so had desserts too. My crème brulée was among the nicest I've ever eaten - lovely thick crunchy top! And my partner's sticky toffee pudding was delicious (and again, what a generous serving).I'd recommend Lino's to anyone - but try it soon, before they wise up to their pricing!

We found a little gem in Hoylake !! We were made really welcomed as soon as we entered the small but cosy restaurant .the food was absolutely gorgeous we had soup starter which was lovely my girlfriend had the duck for mains which was so tender she loved it and I had the lamb which just fell off the bone .highly recommended

As soon as we stepped foot in the door way, we had a great feeling about this little place. Superb service, very friendly and helpful. Loads to choose from, Pasta and Pud menu for just £10 or set 2 course dinner for £17. Starters where amazing, choice of fish/meat or vegetarian. Main courses where the same feel, loads to choose from. We had the steak and lamb shank.Even room for pudding! Thanks again for a great night and we will be back soon.

We decided to look on Tripadvisor and find a restaurant that rated highly. The reviews were good for Lino's and so we booked.We were not disappointed! The maitre d was very courteous and attentive. There were also nice touches like free bread at the start and a top up of coffee at the end.The meals we had were delicious, served quickly and red hot. We had the salmon and macaroni cheese pasta- neither could be faulted.I had the honey parfait to finish, which was lovely and light.It was also very reasonably priced too,(there was also a two course pasta menu for ten pounds), for the excellent standard of the food and service. If you're ever in Hoylake this is the place to come to!

My first visit to Linos was prompted by great reviews on Trip Adviser and they lived up their ratings.It's only a small but cosy restaurant with good ambiance. The restaurant was managed by one chap who acted as Front of House manager, waiter and barman as he was on his own but did a great job and made time to have a chat with everyone. The food was lovely and plentiful. My starter was Thai chicken with a Thai salad and it was delicious. Main was lamb shank and it was cooked well with the meat falling off the bone. My creme brûlée was yum and the top was crispy as it should be. All in all I really enjoyed the food and the service was tremendous also.
