Had lunch here on Saturday having booked the day before. Tables spaced sensibly and comfortably. I think the menu is reduced at present because of COVID but still a good selection. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was really delicious, fresh and very tasty and well presented. Could not fault the whole experience. We have eaten here a year ago in ‘normal times’ and the same applied then but to do so well under the currrent climate really was exceptional. Thank you.

We have just had one of Lime Cross Luxury Dinner boxes and it was excellent. We had the Thai box - Thai fish cakes and spring rolls, Massanman chicken curry with coconut rice and finally mango cheesecake. All beautifully presented in their boxes with full instructions! At this time we all need cheering up and this certainly did - thank you Lime Cross and especially chef Sue Relf! (Vegetarian option available for the boxes) Excellent value for money. We will have one again!

I booked online for an early lunch and got one of the cabins which are a short walk from the main cafe. The lady serving us embraced the constant walking up and down with good humour and all our food and drink was delicious and hot. We were lucky to have a sunny October day and the cabin was very pleasant and dealt with social distancing perfectly!I think the cabins would need heating fairly soon but would be happy to book any table at Lime Cross.

We found this place after visiting Herstmonceux castle. We had a lovely lunch outside the cafe ...cheese/ onion toastie and Tuna toastie which came with salad garnish with tea and coffee. Apparently the assistant forgot about us as they were so busy so she gave us a free coffee and tea which was a very kind gesture. We will be returning.

We visit at least once a week for coffee and cake, today we have had lunch and last week breakfast. The food is always delicious and we have always found the staff to be very friendly. If we had one criticism, it is that the surroundings are a bit chilly. Whilst I realise it is a nursery first and foremost, maybe a few heaters dotted around, would make our visits even more enjoyable.

We visited twice for brunch Sunday before Christmas and Saturday after Christmas. Our son, his partner and their children are all vegan and the vegan menu here is excellent. The breakfast menu is vast and there are so many variations available. You can choose anything from a round of toast to a full English with all the trimmings. There is also an extensive beverage list which includes a long list of speciality tea infusions. Serving staff are friendly and if there is sometimes a short wait for food (it does get very busy) updates are provided. As much food as possible is locally sourced. One of the best places around the area for breakfast, we really must try the other menus sometime.

Had a Family gathering for a Sunday breakfast, fortunately one of our party had reserved a table as the café was completely rammed, always a good sign that a place is popular. Most of the party had the Full Sussex Breakfast and full it certainly was, proper portions of everything, even the younger members of the party had a job finishing the plate. It might at first glance appear to be slightly pricey but in reality you get exceptional quality with local ingredients and generous portions so it is actually good value and the service is excellent. There will be a slight wait for your meal but remember everything is cooked fresh to order and they can be very busy.I had the Small Sussex Breakfast and that was more than adequate for those with a smaller appetite.Do remember to book especially if visiting at the weekend, parking is just a few steps from the entrance and don't forget this is a super Garden Centre as well !Will be back again.

This Garden Centre restaurant just gets better. We have eaten here in the past, but never had the Sussex breakfast before. All I can say is make sure you don't eat anything before ordering the full Sussex. Our breakfasts filled the large plates with two rashers of quality bacon, a nice meaty sausage, two eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomato, baked beans and loads of mini sauteed potatoes. All using quality ingredients on piping hot plates with a slice of toast that we just could not manage.Tea and coffee was to the same high standard. At 10:30 on a Saturday morning it was busy with a steady procession of customers arriving after us.For quite a while now we have been sampling the various establishments around the Eastbourne and South Wealden area, trying to find a good value breakfast using quality ingredients and not your usual supermarket cafe using cheap substitutes.Lime Cross Nursery Cafe tops the lot, you will not be disappointed. After you have finished breakfast have a stroll around the well stocked garden centre, because you will need it.

four of us stoped at the nursery for early lunch, we had a look around the plant nursery , which is much bigger than it looks from the entrance and well worth a look.we found a table and went to the counter , a little queue but not too bad, the food was delivered to our table very promptly .i have read on other reviews that some customers thought that the prices were a little high, having seen four plates of food delivered to our table,i find it hard to imagine what they would expect for the price , it was excelent value ,quality items and ingredients cooked well and served promptly with a nice smile , what more could you ask for. the portions of quiche were large with deep fried potatoes that are second to none, with a really nice salad and home made coleslaw ,much better than the average garden center or high end cafe. the english breakfast was exceptional , cooked well , delivered to the table hot, and again obviously made using very good ingredients. not only would i recomend this wonderful place without reservation , i will be returning soon. yes you can find a cheaper breakfast / lunch in some of the all you can eat pubs , but this is in another league, you simply can not get better for the price.

First time visiting Olive's Cafe (Sunday PM) within Lime Cross Nursery. Neat little cafe but not that enamoured with the service. Approached the counter to offer coffee and cake and wasn't acknowledged by two staff members, one of which was too busy writing. Not precious enough to demand instant service but a tacit acknowledgement or a 'Be with in you in a moment' would have been nice. Coofee and the cake were nice but would have appreciated a warmer welcome to be honest.

We had booked a table for our party of 5, including 2 vegan adults and a vegetarian child for brunch on Sunday morning. The food was amazing, even if the service was a little slow (we had all finished our drinks before it arrived). There is a really good choice of brunch dishes and (according to my son) the vegan choices are varied and portions good. A little more inventive than a lot of places. Coffee also really good and a large choice of teas. It was busy so I would advise booking if you are a large group. And then a spot of leisurely shopping in the garden centre.

My husband opted for the “full Sussex” which he was very pleased with. The meat was great quality and the potatoes were delicious. I had a toasted tea cake and then a brownie - the brownie was wonderfully sweet - I actually needed help to finish it! My husband’s coffee came with a sample of the vegan carrot cake. He absolutely loved it (despite not being a vegan!) and would have gone back to get a full slice had he not had to help me with my brownie. I stumbled across this garden centre by accident on my way back home from a business meeting. First of all, I bought excellent plants in the sale and secondly, I was extremely thirsty and hungry and had a truly marvelous lunch in the cafe. I had a salmon quiche and salad with chutney. It was delicious - the pastry excellent, short and light and the topping packed with flavour without being overly 'fishy' (given that salmon was an ingredient). All in all, an excellent pit stop and I would love to go back one day.

Every time I go here I hope that they've sorted out the weird ordering system but no, it's still confusing. You have to select a table and make note of it's number. You read the menu (usually) found on the table. You then leave your table and hope no one sits at it while you queue to order your food. There you find the specials board perched beside the cutlery station, ponder whether to change your mind re choice while queuing. Opposite you notice that in front of the open plan kitchen/prep area there's a lovely display of delicious looking cakes. You ponder whether to change your mind once more. There's a note in front of a pile of scones suggesting you inquire at the counter about their cream teas. Why can't they put the price on there? In fact there's a huge space behind the counter which would be perfect for displaying the menu including specials and cream teas with prices but it's wasted. There are many ways to ensure the order gets to the correct table including the old fashioned method of handing out numbered spoons for example. The service is slow, curt and matter of fact. Why do I bother? Well, the food is really nice. The Garden centre is worth a wander round too.

It was absolutely vile the pancakes were bought in, reheated in a pan and burnt to a crisp, the eggs benedict sauce was tasteless and the poached eggs with avocado was a tiny portion- Should’ve just got a McDonald’s breakfast!! This is a consistently good business that isn’t afraid of change and innovation.... The cafe team is second to none in the region, they deliver a reliably well presented and tasty menu at all times of the day. The nursery team are welcoming, approachable and honest. The shop crew are bright and engaging, always. You may go a very long way to find these elements fitting together as simply and as well as at Lime Cross. The cafe did go through a peculiar phase a few months back....driven by a new manager/operator given some autonomy in that area. BUT – I can assure anyone that the new team in place at the cafe is 100% back on track....the cafe is now fresh and spruced, better layout, great dependable food [and the best pastry chef any day of the week!!] plus an experienced and personable team leader who is keeping standards up in all areas; she clearly has an eye for detail and the team around her seem to gel brilliantly, day on day. I’ve said it before....but ‘keep it up’ Lime Cross.....we need you around here.....even if I may want to keep you a secret.....I won’t.

We travel to here from Hastings for breakfast as often as possible. The staff / food / service is second to none. They're accommodating, friendly and go out of their way to help. It's immaculately clean and the homemade cakes are fantastic. Thank you again! See you soon xx

I returned here today having said that I wouldn't after the poor experience we had when we visited in March, and was very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was friendly and Jacq and the other members of the team made us feel welcome. We enjoyed our lunch, my friend thoroughly enjoying her jacket potato and salad and me the open chicken mayo salad on delicious tomato bread. Great to be able to recommend this place again.

Hi Helen.I did not bother to respond to your reply on my comments some time ago as I thought I would go back with my pals for another breakfast and in any event I thought my comments were self explanatory. However, we went back today (9/9) for breakfast and I make comment once again on it.Your establishment is beautifully clean and presented. The breakfast was excellent but in our opinion the price charged was excessive for the amount given. We have breakfast in The Grand at Eastbourne and to eat as much as you want combined with the variety on offer for £20 far outways the price paid today for a relatively small amount at over £12.We rarely pay more than £8.50 for a far larger plate full than you now give. When we first started visiting Lime Cross it was good value for money. We will not be back which is unfortunate.

What a great surprise. The specials board is back with great choices. The service was fast, even with the cafe three quarters full plus people outside, and the staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. The portions were very generous and the food delicious. I love this place but hadn't been for a few months so it was great to see it back to being a place I would recommend to friends.Couldn't fault it in any way.

Friendly people - even when you just drop in for a coffee and no cake (having had a large breakfast in our hotel an hour ago...).No rush to take your cup away and it's obviously a popular place with cyclists since we saw quite a lot of them coming and going. Super to be able to sit out in the garden and enjoy all their hard work. Good business sense, too, as I saw a couple of plants which I just had to buy to take home with me !

Having been visiting since it opened it has expanded more and more into the garden centre, and hence lost itself by trying to be everything to everyone, more a bistro than a garden centre cafe. Food good but pricey, service system keeps changing, hence service uncertain and slow at times. Think cafe needs own premises. Such a pity really.

We are four men of oap status and every Saturday we go to a place for breakfast. We have been here several times but we have now stopped going because the breakfasts got smaller and the prices got larger. The once waitress service is no longer availble and you have to order at the counter.Just a few months ago this was one of our favourite breakfasts but no longer. However, the place is excellently presented and the food good but it all used to be better. I am not sure but they may have changed their chefs ect.

As I knew I should be in the area I thought I should give them another chance after an earlier disappointing experience. It turned out to be a mistake.I arrived at 1440 in time, I thought, to get something to eat before their kitchen closes at its advertised time of 1500 weekdays. But no, all hot specials finish, I was told, at 1430!Could they do a ham or chicken sandwich, two staples of any cafe. No.I left to find a place in Hailsham finding this place to be a joke with a lot still to learn An ill-defined cafe area and a professionally executed website that promises "world-cuisine?!", I kid you not, being among them, that cannot even offer that which should be closer to home....I vowed, next time, to listen more closely to my inner food critic..

Went for tea and cake with a friend on a Sunday afternoon. Cakes were nice but £3.30 a slice? Seems over the top to me. Also waited over 20 minutes for a pot of tea. Quite a few customers seemed a bit disgruntled over the waiting time.

Tablehurst Farm Shop and Cafelocation-iconTablehurst Farm Cottage London RoadOther cuisines

Tablehurst is a heart-achingly beautiful biodynamic and organic farm with rolling hills, a quirky farm shop and a charming café garden. Most of the produce sold in the shop comes from the farm itself - no food miles!!! The food prepared on site is delicious and the coffee just divine! One of the best-kept secrets of East Sussex, in the heart of the leafy village of Forest Row, Tablehurst is a true gem of a farm, worth visiting.
