Lilicos in North Devon

I recently organised a 30th birthday meal for a group of 50 people (the whole restaurant area was booked out for us). I haven’t been to Lilicos since it has changed but I was so impressed!! I have been in communication with Lucy for a number of months and she has been amazing, ensuring it was the most perfect evening for everyone! Lucy was so helpful and flexible- she managed to organise a band to perform (who were awesome!) and had lots of options for food. We went for the £17 buffet type option- everyone was so impressed with the food and variety. I wasn’t expecting it to be that delicious with it being for 50 people but it tasted so fresh and everyone left full! Good options for vegans and veggies too :) the food was all brought out in perfect timing. The service was fantastic- everyone was really friendly and helpful. The drinks were so nice, and the Halloween specials went down a treat! A lot of the group had come from London and Manchester and they were so impressed and said they haven’t had a night out like that in a long time with good music, food and atmosphere :) Thank you so much for making the night so special. Everyone had a great time and we will definitely be back!!

The cocktails we had were amazing but the food was very disappointing- dry and bland. They also sent us out extra food we did not order & tried to charge us for this.

We recently had a birthday party at Lilicos, the team could not be more accommodating from the get go. The food was delicious, an amazing selection and plentiful. The staff were so friendly and on the ball, nothing was too much trouble. They even provided a bespoke birthday cocktail on special offer for the evening for our party! Thank you all, you certainly know how to throw a party!

Lilico's is a good place in Barnstaple to use a a base if exploring the town. Being close by the clock tower at the conflux of the Long Bridge and the High Street it is easy to find. We only had morning drinks of coffee and tea which was served by friendly staff who had good knowledge of the town. The lunch menu looked most appetising but we had to meet friends elsewhere for that, unfortunately!

Central lovely bar and restaurant with great staff. The food was good - the chef even put together a pizza with a selection of items we chose - the chilli beef is a must (with everything). Wine list is varied and reasonable - lovely place to eat and watch the world go by with friends. We'll be back - maybe the pizza creation will end up on your 'specials'. Thank you.

I booked a table for 12 people for my partners birthday, the staff went above and beyond for us, the lady who booked this for me was excellent (Lucy) I emailed to let them know I would be running a tad late, even though Lucy wasn't working she ensured the rest of the staff were aware! All the staff were so friendly and helpful! Would recommend and I will be visiting again

What an upgrade! Unrecognisable inside, the service was great and the food was brilliant, I had the crispy chilli beef and burger, my wife had the lemon and parmesan risotto, all was tasty and fresh! We have since had a pizza delivered!

Our new go-to lunch spot in Barnstaple. Very friendly staff and great food, whilst watching the world go by. We like to share an assortment from the small bites menu and mix it up a bit each time we visit but the crispy chilli beef is a must have every time !

Oh dear, what have they done to their food. Mass produced and poor quality. Frankly, the worst in the area. Acommpanied with above London prices for a pint of lager. They seem to have lost any sense of order as they served the starters at the same time as the mains. The menu is tacky and the food was dire. We will not be in any hurry to return.

We went to Lilico for this first time this evening on a recommendation, to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and had a lovely time! Vicky was our waitress and was amazing! We were welcomed immediately and shown to our table, she then gave us lots of info about their menu telling us how everything they serve is fresh and delicious! The food and cocktails really good paired with a great atmosphere, I can definitely recommend this place!

Stopped off for lunch and it did not disappoint. All the staff are welcoming. I chose chicken fajitas, and my husband had a chicken risotto. The food was superb. We were served by Viki, who was absolutely delightful; attentive, but not intrusive, and continually serving with a smile on her face. A lovely atmosphere inside, with a good ambience. There are also tables and chairs available outside - a sunny spot in the afternoons when skies are clear. This has rapidly become our 'go to' place when visiting Barnstaple

Popped to Lilicos for dinner one evening while on holiday. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable - they were attentive, friendly and helpful. The food came quickly and was very good. We had a range of tapas bits including the calamari, which was one of the best I've tasted. Very pleased with our visit!

6 of us (4 adults & 2 young children) enjoyed a fabulous range of tapas style treats yesterday lunhtime. We plumped for a selection including delicious home made breads, olives, salted potato wedges ,calamari, prawns, meatballs ,pasta , chicken etc. It was all tasty with different flavours and textures. The children tried and enjoyed most of the choices and us adults were very impressed with everything. Definitely worth a visit !

We visited here just after they reopened after lockdown. The staff worked really hard to make sure everyone was looked after as they were clearly running the place with less staff due to COVID. The food was so good and the staff were lovely and friendly.

Went to lidicos in Barnstaple last night with a few friends, very welcoming and friendly, we booked a table about a week before and the experience was great ,table service only which added to the experience, all staff and tables arranged very socially distanced aware. We stayed for the duration of the evening with some confidence, anyone unsure about going out during the pandemic fear not!!!

My daughter and I decided to treat ourselves to lunch as dont know when we will get to eat out again with the health worries at the moment. So glad we did. We had breaded brie,chilli nut prawns and bread with oil and dip. It was all delicious,especially the prawns. The waitress was really pleasant. Will look forward to returning in the future.

Following an early evening outing to the cinema, we had booked to take a visiting friend with us to Lillicos. We had not been there before, but had tried to go on a Saturday evening previously, but restaurant was fully booked. We booked this time even though it was a Tuesday. The choice of tapas dishes was very good with specials as well. There were three of us and with helpful advice from the waitress we chose six dishes. All were very enjoyable and reasonably priced with the bill including drinks under £50. The service by the two people who served us was very friendly, informative and efficient.

Night out with friends. Great selection of drinks. Lovely atmosphere and decent place to meet up. The night we were there they had a band in so we stayed for the rest of the evening as everyone in our group was enjoying themselves. Look forward to next time

Me and my friend visited Lilicos for early dinner and drinks. Food is good, cocktails were lovely but we found decor to be quite tired for such a prominent place in town.

As we have lunch at Lillicos quite often I don’t review it each time but thought the service we had back in June - just found the receipt - deserved a mention. Two of us had a selection of tapas and a glass of wine each for lunch but the chef forgot to put chorizo in the potato dish – so the cost of the dish was just taken off the bill without any hassle at all. It didn’t spoil the meal as the other dishes were all very good, as was the Verdejo, an easy drinking, light-bodied white that pairs well with tapas at lunch-time but which you don’t see on many wine lists. So, with the cost of one dish deducted, the lunch was about £20 rather than £25 but even that would have been very good value. Definitely a favourite lunch-time place.

We stumbled upon Lilico’s when we were in Barnstaple for lunch. We were greeted at the door and made to feel welcome even though we were quite late for lunch. The staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly and the food was great. We had the set six tapas dishes and a bottle of wine for £34.99 or thereabouts and it was all delicious. Lots of choice and the house Sauvignon Blanc was excellent. We can highly recommend but be warned! the tapas portions are quite generous!

I do love dining here however I came recently and was slightly disappointed with how my food came out. 6pm on a Thursday, not many people had ordered and it felt like they couldn't be bothered with my order. The pictures shown are exactly how the food came out (what's the point in putting that tiny bagged salad on there if that's all you're going to put?). A thick sliced loaf of bread doesn't seem 'artisan' to me.Other than that the bar staff are faultless and I love the atmosphere! Cannot fault the service at all they're very welcoming and helpful. Maybe it's better to eat in the restaurant and not the bar as it's always been good in the restaurant.

We enjoyed a lovely evening tapas meal here for my birthday. The portion sizes are big and amazing prices. The staff are lovely and it's a very peaceful relaxing place. Would definitely eat here again if in the area!

Niet heel gezellig ogend restaurant maar met goede keuken en vriendelijk personeel. De tapas gerechten zijn groter dan dat we in Nederland of Spanje gewend zijn, wij hebben er lekker gegeten.

We have ate at Lilicos many times and every time is a real pleasure! . The food is amazing and the staff are very attentive. Even for just an afternoon coffee Lilicos is a great location.

First we phoned for a booking and we were told that they only had a 6:30 slot but at 7:30 the restaurant was half empty. Had seen that it had good reviews so we decided to book it. There was no atmosphere and the food was mediocre at best. I like my desert but didn’t order order one cause I didn’t want to be be disappointed again. The service was ok but we were told about an offer which included a free bottle of wine after we had already ordered and received our drinks, they did say we could take the bottle of wine with us but we didn’t really want to be carrying that around with us for the rest of the night. If you just looking fo a little snack with a few pints then it’s fine.i may of been expecting more but I still left disappointed.

Had some tapas in here this week. It was fantastic. Lovely sharing platter, grilled courgettes were exquisite. Fresh out of the oven bread that was still warm. Only place in Barnstaple with a good atmosphere on a Monday. The staff, Philipa and Leo were great. Highly recommended.

My partner and I love Spanish and ducked in here for a weekday tapas lunch while visiting the area. Fantastic food - calamari, Cajun chicken, Pedron peppers and vege mezze platter. Absolutely tremendous, well-cooked food, cannot recommend highly enough.

Popped in to lilicos today for a late lunch and it was superb.my wife had smoked haddock kedgeree with poached egg which is normally my favourite but I went for tapas and had paella crispy beef and roasted peppers.

The ladies toilets are always filthy-please clean them. How clean is the kitchen if the toilets look like this?
