Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Good menu and delicious food. Very accommodating when a slightly picky 5 year old couldn't find anything he liked; the staff took time to concoct a lovely meal he could, and did, enjoy. Thoroughly recommend.

The best coffee! We enjoyed the decaf and bought a pack to take home. The beans were ground for us in the shop. We would have liked to eat some food, but just passing through. The food menu looked really good. Another time we're over in Malton, we will definitely head to Leoni's to eat a meal and drink their coffee. Would recommend!

Lovely atmosphere, great food and top-class service......what more could you ask for? It's a terrific place for lunch, or just a drink or snack. Would highly recommend.

We visited Malton for the food fair. We don’t know Malton but liked the look of Leoni’s. What a fantastic find! Everything about it was great. The coffee (we had their own blend, but other speciality coffees were available) was lovely - just the right balance and very tasty. Their selection of food was varied. We chose a cake each (choc flapjack and Bakewell tart - utterly divine). Portions were a good size too. The staff were very friendly - the owner was very happy to discuss coffee and was very enthusiastic (and interesting). No pretentiousness. The price was very competitive and it was a much more personal experience than we have experienced in National ‘chains’. We would thoroughly commend Leoni’s to all - a lovely experience. We shall definitely be returning.

Leoni's appeared to be full when we walked in so we stood by the door for a short time, a gentleman came to greet us and I asked if they were full? He pointed out a vacant table for two by the wall and we were soon seated. The cafe was very busy and we had time to browse the menu and watch some very nice plates of food being brought out. We were there for a lunch rather than a snack so we both ordered the seafood platter. We were served by a friendly waitress and were very pleased with the service. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food we received and it was all delicious. my wife is very particular about the way food is prepared and presented and even she couldn't fault it, commenting that the salmon was cooked perfectly. We didn't want dessert so had a cup of hot chocolate to finish our meal. This too was delicious. We will definitely visit again next time we're in Malton.

We nipped in just before the lunch rush during the food festival, and were pleased to find a space in the window with room for our small buggy. The service was super friendly, and they had space in the women’s for baby changing. We both had coffee milkshakes - we originally asked for iced coffees so were a little surprised at the ice cream in them at first but they were amazing. Would definitely come back!

After making a purchase at Thomas the Baker I asked where they would recommend as the best cafe in town. They instantly said 'Leoni's' and they were right ! Quirky interior, very friendly and helpful staff, superb coffee and an outstanding slab of Yorkshire parkin beautifully presented in a bowl with a drizzle of chocolate sauce, a little jug of cream and topped with a strawberry. I'll definitely be back.

I remember Leoni’s opening years ago and on returning to Malton recently, was so happy to see it still in business. What a marvellous place - cosy and warm. The staff are amazing and friendly. Lovely to see the younger generation conversing with us oldies confidently. As for the food - wow! Ploughman’s was huge and at £12 a bargain. Milk shakes so fresh and tasty. Will defo return and recommend.

I visited Malton today and stumbled across this lovely coffee shop. Very friendly and welcoming staff. I had a latte which was piping hot. I also had a Malton Monster which I’d never heard of but a fellow diner recommended it. I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a scone type bake with spices, cherries and almonds, can highly recommend. Arrived early one morning and was only their second customer. Said hello to the server as I entered, and yet was completely ignored whilst he served people who had arrived after me. Left in disgust, and I won’t be back!

We found this cafe a few years ago and visit at least once whenever we're in the area. The range is great for fussy people, veggie and meat eaters. The cakes, brownies etc are amazing!

I always try to visit Leoni’s when I am in Malton. The food is imaginative and flavoursome, and the coffee excellent. The friendly atmosphere and relaxed environment makes fora great place to break up a day at the office.

We just spent the day near Malton and were looking for a light bite for lunch when we passed Leoni. My partner had a special platter with salmon,tuna and crab. I had a cheese version. Everything is freshly made and they are happy to swap ingredients to taste. Presentation was beautiful and the staff were very welcoming and helpful.

We were on holiday last week in Ampleforth & popped over to Malton as it’s a beautiful little town. We’re here last year & totally missed this gem of a coffee shop. There was three of us all adults.It was late morning & we had to wait for a table, not long though & the owner kept us amused & chatting at front door. We opted for a cheese & chive-scone with chilli jam. As I am dairy free the young waitress provide extra jam, without even asking. All the staff were really very very nice. I love scones, especially cheese ones, but this, superb. Served warm & presented beautifully.it was so lovely & filling we couldn’t manage to stay or return later for lunch from a terrific choice. We decided to return on the Saturday(market day) for lunch.On returning Saturday, we asked if we could reserve a table, but they don’t do that, however the young girl waitress was more than helpful with where we could park.We came back around 1.00 & we were very impressed with their sanitising process, cleaning tables & chairs, before allowing you to sit.For lunch we had the platters two with seafoods & one with cheese. Presentation , quality & value for money? You’ll never beat it. Hopefully, we’ll return to Yorkshire next year & Leonis will be first on the agenda.

We travelled especially from Filey to visit this Tea room following rave reviews from a number of people. The food was amazing, fresh,local and beautifully presented. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the interior was so quaint and beautifully historically decorated which prompted my Father to ask what it had been previously........a butchers apparently. Thank you for a lovely visit.........we will definitely be back!!

We stopped in Malton whilst driving up on the motorbike for a few days stay near Whitby. By chance there was one parking space and it just happened to be right outside a cafe. So we stepped in and weren't disappointed.The staff, although young, were perfect, very attentive, helpful and nice and chatty. We had the cheese and chive scones with chilli jam and they were amazing. They toast them so they are warm, slightly crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle. The coffee and tea were spot on too.We were so impressed that on our way home we called in for the same again. The young lady who served us on our first visit, remembered us, always a nice touch. This time we also got some scones to take away. Delicious. We are planning a few more days away and will definitely be calling in again.

We visited Malton for a couple of hours on our way home from Whitby. We came across Leoni's quite by chance and were warmly welcomed. Lovely decor and ambience. We ordered iced coffees and milk shake. This is the best iced coffee I've ever had!We followed with a seafood platter, crab sandwich and a panini all of which were generous portions and as delicious as they were well presented.Staff were friendly and efficient.Fantastic value for money even without the Eat out to help out which was just an added bonusThanks

Great to be back at Leoni after a year's absence. Still great coffee and cakes. This time we tried the Take away sandwiches and we were not disappointed. What a great coffee shop, one of the best anywhere in the country.

everything about this Cafe is outstanding. It’s beautifully decorated, everything is very fresh and homemade to an excellent quality. It’s a very cosy and pleasant environment. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, they all had smiles on their faces, couldn’t do enough for us and were fantastic with my children. I would defiantly return here.

We visited on a Monday lunchtime during the eat out to help out scheme, so the cafe was really busy. We were still seated and served quickly, the staff were friendly and efficient. We both had the homemade cheese and chive scone with chilli jam- it was huge and absolutely delicious! The cakes looked amazing too but we were too full to manage one. Really looking forward to coming back soon!

We we're heading back from Whitby and struggled to find a local cafe for food. We managed to stop in this little village and thankfully found this place. We ordered five lunch meals and coffee's which were quick and the coffee gorgeous. I ordered the ploughman's platter for about £8... when it turned up, i was amazed at the presentation and the taste. Whilst there we heard several tables saying how thankfull they were that this place was reopen again after lockdown. The staff cleaned every table down extremely wrll, including the table legs and table decor before each new table sat down. We grabbed two cakes to go for the drive home and we were stunned at how amazing these were. They were so moist and tasty whilst not being too sickly. Overall, we're gutted this isn't closer to us but we will be back soon for more. Thank you for the brilliant service, coffee, food and cakes!

Went to Leonnis for a bite to eat. Its been decorated through out to high standard and looks even better than before the lock down and it looked great back then. The food and service are outstanding and its well worth a visit if you are in Malton, you won't be sorry.

Visited today for a spot of lunch with the wife and daughter, great waitress service and very friendly. Food was fresh and plentiful, would recommend the ploughman's platter with plenty of ham and a good selection of cheeses with plenty of salad and a freshly baked baguette. Reasonable prices for lunch and a good selection of teas and coffees.

My wife and I stopped off in Malton en route to Helmsley looking for a spot for lunch. We stumbled upon Leoni’s and we are so pleased we did. This is a quirky small restaurant with excellent levels of service and a laid back casual atmosphere, which appeared very popular with the locals. We enjoyed freshly cooked food and tasty beverages. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her pannini and my seafood platter was beautifully presented and represented an explosion of seafood flavours. I was so pleased to see the menu representing fantastic value for money in these days of exploitation. We were also very impressed with the friendly and attentive service. We will definitely return to Malton and to Leoni’s !

this is a superb establishment. From staff and service to whatever comes to your table that you order and then the fond farewell as you leave...there is not a single fault to be noted. No matter how many times the staff have to ascend the staircase they are always happy and helpful. As for anyone shouting at staff..I dont think that could ever be a possibility from the owner or anyone else who works there. This is a much cared about business where everyone chips in to support each other and give excellent customer care.

Wow wow and wow, superb food, lovely staff and great atmosphere. No wonder this was the busiest cafe in Malton. This is possibly my new fave cafe and believe me I've tried a few, I was looking for somewhere different and luckily for us my first choice was closed. We shared 2 platters one meat and cheese one fish, they were so fresh, with really good quality ingredients, I honestly don't know how they do it for the price, if it was in York it would be double the price. All the chutneys were home made and tasted yum. We managed to squeeze in possibly the best ever apple crumble served with maple syrup and clotted cream, we were in a hurry as our car park ticket was going to expire, the staff were so accommodating. The whole place had a lovely warm "buzz" you didn't feel rushed and it wasn't too noisy, 100% will definitely be going again soon and we'll worth the 40 mile round trip, please open a York branch.

Went in for a cup of tea and lunch and the staff were lovely very polite ans the food was excellent unfortunately all I could hear was the owner yelling at the staff and being abusive not the way to behave in front of customers at all , was rather embarrassing.

Had lunch arriving early as can get busy. Very good menu and specials choices. Had panini with bacon, goats cheese and mango chutney- an original combination which tasted delicious. Coffee (latte) excellent. Service friendly and efficient. Prices good value.

This is a lovely coffee shop... top quality coffee (the owner has won barrista prizes) and really tasty food. The sandwiches are filling and worth the money. So it is a little treat!

Leoni's have never ever disappointed me. We had to wait 5 minutes for a table on a busy wet and cold Saturday lunchtime but would have waited longer. Food was prompt, exactly what we ordered, of high quality and served with a smile.Fab job guys!

Clearly a favourite with locals given the number of times we heard the phrase ‘my usual please’ and we found out why with an excellent raspberry and white choc blonder one of the many home made cakes and pastries on offer. Tables upstairs and down although the stairs may be a little tricky for those with limited mobility wanting to use the loos

After a long walk we arrived at this lovely cafe. Very friendly staff who made room for our rucksacks. and didn't seem to mind our boots!. We ordered coffee, tea and delicious traybakes. It is nice to see such an independent coffee house on the high street. The service, food and atmosphere was excellent.

How could I come to a small quaint town in England and not have an authentic scone with the requisite clotted cream and jam?Answer: I couldn't. And that's where Leoni's comes in. I have had many scones in America. Most are way off the mark. Too dry. Or too cake-y. Just not authentic. And, I know nowhere in the USA to get clotted cream. (I actually had never heard of it until today. )So happy to have had the real deal.

Have visited Leoni's hundreds of times whilst seeing family in malton. The coffee is so good, consistently so. Next level yummy cheese scones and cheese on toast too. An absolute must visit.

Go to Leoni’s every week and without doubt the best coffee in Malton !! Quaint old fashioned coffee shop with great coffee, highly recommend the Latte Leoni !! Nice home made food highly recommended the cheese , chive and mustard scone with chilli jam !! Delicious !!

This was our first visit to Malton and we were lucky enough to find Leoni The Coffee House by chance. The cafe was full, but we only waited a couple of minutes to be seated. We had the window seat upstairs and it was cosy and comfortable. The service is excellent and the coffee is out of this world. I spoke briefly to the owner, Simon Robertson, commenting how good his coffee is - and he clearly knows a lot about coffee, how to blend it and what his customers are looking for. It is well worth seeking out if you really like excellent coffee.

We popped in for a coffee and something nice during our first visit to Malton. You never know how good it's going to be but this was the best coffee and scone I have had for a very long time. Good, strong coffee but mellow in flavour. Scones lightly toasted and NOT warmed in the microwave - a pet hate of mine. A lovely atmosphere with lovely, friendly staff. Many thanks.

Called in to Leoni’s at 16:45 today expecting them to be closing,no, the staff were so helpful and friendly supplying great coffee and cake on this extremely wet & cold day. Worth a visit

We went in quite late as we had only arrived in Malton after 4pm - the cafe is small but has tables enough to handle several families - they do cook food there which we didn’t want but note you cannot get in close to closing and expect food - they need to close the kitchen early to ensure it’s cleaned

We used this place as a cafe stop on the GYBR. Really liked it, very cute inside with a lovely menu. The food was amazing, well priced and the cafe is so smooth and nice. Would recommend and will return.

We stopped for breakfast, we both had bacon sandwiched and coffees, I would recommend both, the bacon was very good and the coffees excellent. Service was fast and friendly and the decor was good. We will be returning when we are next in Malton

Scones were delicious with a great variety of flavours. Coffee was made to perfection. Service was friendly and polite. Excellent selection of sandwiches. Definitely a fan with the locals and we were so glad we called in on our travels.

Set in old butchers shop with period decor this cafe is lovely. There is also seating and toilets up stairs. So don't be put off if it looks full.

Took two ravenous teenagers into the cafe following an extended walk. After being shown the selection of homemade cakes we decided upon apple crumble & ice cream, chocolate brownies & scone. All delicious & so filling that everyone was full!!

Came all the way from the south coast having seen a news item about Malton being the dog friendliest town in UK. The first cafe we came to having travelled six hours to get there was Leonis only to be told 'we don't take dogs'. Not a good start! I'm happy to say that everywhere else in this quaint little market town seems to be dog friendly so we did enjoy our trip. I hope this cafe changes it's policy soon and does't continue to let the side down.

I buy my beans from here now, in large part due to the incredible knowledge and passion that Don and Simon(?) have when discussing their coffee. Also, ate here once, and the food is delectable. Unique combinations of flavours that really work.

Such a shame that there is a cafe in Malton which is NOT dog friendly especially as the town has been awarded the title dog friendliest town in the UK 2018. They should follow the lead of other fantastic cafes, resteraunts and hotels in the area which welcome dogs. Sad to say that we shall not be returning.

Been coming hear since it opened over 20 year ago the coffee , cappuccino is the best in town . All the menu is excellent my favourites are the ploughman’s and the seafood . Soups also delicious everything homemade. Always busy, there is also an upstairs. Simon the owner is a very nice man who always welcomes you , and his staff especially Dom always there with a smile. You won’t be disappointed...

Called here with a friend for an afternoon treat. My friend had Earl grey tea and a cream scone. I had breakfast tea and a “Thingy ma Bob”. (Puff pastry apple and sultana parcel) We both throughly enjoyed it. Lovely surroundings with happy and helpful staff. Definitely be back.

Whether its just a hot or refreshing drink you are looking for.. a tasty wholesome snack, light lunch or a savoury or sweet bite to eat the menu caters for everyone. Lovely ambience and friendly staff team service. Locals love it. Staff will also tell you how soon a table will be free if you ask when it is busy if you are prepared to wait a little.

The coffee was excellent and from independent roasteries. There is a lovely unspoilt atmosphere with the clientele predominantly locals. Menu could be somewhat limited for some but in my opinion quality of service and food is much more important

If you get here early enough, you might just be lucky enough to try some of the very best Bakewell Tart in the world (in my opinion). However, if you leave it too late in the afternoon, as we did, then its all gone - so sad. On the up side, the clotted cream and jams scones or fantistic and helped me mop my tears. Thought I would leave a few words about Lioni’s. It is Dusty my wife and I absolute favorite coffee shop. Everything is handcrafted and delicious. The place is unquestionably one of life’s pleasures for us to look forward to every time we are both in Malton. My coffee recommendation is to try a Double Macchiato especially when made by Simon

12 noon and busy as always. My friend and I had lunch, always freshly made, and well worth the short wait for that to be served. Enough to eat to keep you going and so tasty. As usual, the coffee was great and fueled us up for the afternoon. I can't recommend it too highly.

Simon who runs this brilliant coffee shop is a renowned professional in the coffee world. His tales of his international coffee competative history are enthrawling. He can, indeed, make the perfect brew. He can personally advise you on particular blends and you can even take away some of your favorite coffee to make at home or whilst on holiday.

I went to leonis along with a friend. When we arrived they didn’t have a cash machine that used cards! Very annoying ):(. Had to leave and come back! We went upstairs and sat on the table. My god do they cram in as many tables as possible, I struggled to get through all the rouge chairs and tables and I’m quite thin. When I managed to sit down we were “greeted” by a teenage girl who seemed to not give a toss. She sighed as we hadn’t decided what we wanted straight away. I went for a pain au chocolat and coffee and my friend got a coffee and sandwich. Cost all in all £10! And the pain ya chocolat was clearly store bought and the sandwich premade as the bread was a little dry. The teenage lady then came up when he had finished and took us down to pay, we aren’t going to steal women! All in all a horrible time. Do not recommend it. Over expensive and the staff need repairing.
