Le Moulin Patisserie and Boulangerie in Havering

The gem of Hornchurch, it never disappoints. We took relatives recently, who loved it, they had the crème brûlée cake “we won’t eat all that” they polished off the lot. It’s a friendly place and the bread is to die for, the owners work so had to make the customer experience a pleasure. Five star gem.

A great place for brunch, lunch, tea and all points in between. Friendly, efficient service with a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Been here a few times now and the cakes are to die for. Always busy, so be prepared to wait for a seat, it will be worth the wait. Family-friendly staff run and owned French Café, lovely coffee and my favourite was the Chocolate Cheese Cake and the Mango Mousse. Highly recommended

I absolutely love this patisserie. The owners and staff are so friendly, always making time for a chat. Even on the busiest of days the welcome is warm and genuine; you really feel valued even if you are just popping in for a loaf. The pastries are delicious and the bread the best I’ve had. It has a lovely atmosphere and a real gem on Hornchurch High Street, I can’t recommend it enough. Thank you!

We use this excellent Patissiere frequently, to eat in and to purchase take-away products. The food, products and service has always been excellent. However we were very disappointed taday when purchasing croissants to take home. What has happened to the size of them!!!!!! Sadly it appears that like most other products being sold in shops and mostly the big supermarkets these days - the size has been reduced (whilst costing the same). This is very disappointing and we shall not in future be purchasing these items 😔

Now very much a regular here. Excellent coffee, and an array of cakes, breakfast pastries and cakes in town. They run a small breakfast menu but if you want a full english this isn't the place. Here you get breads, pastries and cakes of outstanding quality. Always busy, and the staff are super pleasant.

Another fantastic experience in this wonderful little french patisserie in Hornchurch. Can’t speak highly enough of this place. The food is excellent, really tasty and looks great. Fantastic Birthday Cake, excellent service and delivery. This is a really friendly family run business that make exceedingly good cakes. They are a pleasure to deal with, good value for money and their cakes look and taste fantastic.

It’s taken us a long time to return to the “eating out” scene following Covid, due to health vulnerabilities! But last week we were back with our granddaughter in one of our old favourites! The food is delicious and the apricot pastries are as good as we remembered! A lovely welcome from our hostess, Helene. Highly recommended!

Where to begin. Fantastic service from an owner who loves her establishment and her customers. We had afternoon tea and the cakes and sandwiches were absolutely superb. The food was so fresh and tasty, and of such a high quality that we were truly amazed. I must admit that I did not know about this place until recently, when it was highly recommended by a friend. It really is a hidden gem in Hornchurch, though i can see that the locals know all about it and are doing their best to keep it a secret! 😆 The place is really busy, so reserve your table to avoid disappointment, but it is well worth a visit, and we will definitely visit again and again and again. I love visiting Le Moulin Patisserie and Boulangerie! While working from home full time during lockdown, this has become my favourite place to eat and drink at Lunchtime in Hornchurch. What do I love about Le Moulin so much? Firstly, the food and drink is fantastic! Fine authentic French dishes with a very varied menu ranging from; Quiches, Omelettes, Baguettes, Sandwiches, Sourdough Bread to light snacks like Sausage Rolls and Pizza Slices. There is a range of teas, coffees and the iced coffees are amazing! All food and drink is freshly made and prices are very reasonable given the quality of the hospitality provided. One thing that makes Le Moulin very special is the people and the atmosphere, and the camaraderie with customers. Helene and Sergio (the owners) are very skilled in hospitality and are a great example to other likeminded independent businesses of how to build up a loyal customer support base! Even when it is be very busy (which is most of the time, as Le Moulin is so popular!) Helene and Sergio make every effort to personally talk to you and check in to see, firstly are you satisfied with your order, and would you like anything else?, but they go above and beyond this and always try and great to know their customers personally, getting to understand their everyday lives, which can really help improve you positivity if you having a difficulty day. Therefore, Le Moulin has become like an extended family, with many people visiting everyday, even if sometimes they aren’t dining in! Overall, Le Moulin is a very unique establishment within Hornchurch Town Centre which is fantastic to visit for lunch, or an Afternoon Tea on special occasions, or to order a homemade cake for a special occasion like a Birthday or a Wedding as they are all made personally to order, and the designs and creativity are Aamazing!

Met a friend for coffee morning and decided to visit here. The cakes, breads and pastries looked fantastic but being too early we decided on hot drinks to begin with. That is all we ended up having as tables were labelled with reservations/bookings (never seen that in a cafe), so felt quite rushed esp at 10.30am! There were a lot of people there so the locals definitely enjoy something here. Me, being a big particular coffee lover was unfortunately disappointed. 7 sugars later I could not get rid of the bitter taste in the cappucino. I've had some great cappucinos in my time but this was not one of those occassions. Maybe one day I'll try again with one of the nice looking cakes.

This is a wonderful cafe providing what’s missing in many homogenised high streets; an authentic experience. The food is first rate, all baked on site: the best pastries I've ever had, the most beautiful patisseries. Amazing celebration cakes and tasty lunches. The french and Portuguese owners ensure that food is to the highest standard. If you get a chance to engage with Helene, the french owner you will have a treat; she’s witty and friendly, in many ways she makes the experience!! Wonderful!

Le Moulin is a wonderful French patisserie that offers a brilliant selection of authentic pastries and cakes. We enjoyed items from both the sweet and savoury menu and were impressed by the their excellent standard of hot drinks. Thank you to all the polite and attentive staff at Le Moulin and a special thank you to Ellen who made an amazing hot chocolate. Le Moulin made us feel like we were back in Paris and we definitely will be coming back here again.

Fantastic family run authentic patisserie. High quality cakes and light meals. Friendly staff. Very welcoming. If you judge an establishment by the quality of their poached eggs... this would be rated outstanding!! Highly recommended. A real gem!

You just can't beat the excellent coffee and they do the BEST almond croissants!! There's an array of delicious pizzas, quiche, sausage rolls and pastries galore. I keep going back to the almond croissants. The ambience is lovely, very friendly and smiley service.

I've been coming to Le Moulin since they opened many years ago, and it's still my favourite place to go in the area. This is a genuine boulangerie & pâtisserie run by a lovely French family, which explains why the quality is always so good on all fronts. As a francophone living in Hornchurch, this is the closest I can get to being in France and you really are made to feel like you're part of one big family. I can't recommend Le Moulin enough, whether it's just to grab a coffee and pastry, enjoy a simple delicious lunch or to order a special occasion cake.

Staff nice and friendly - choice of cakes good. Latte on offer could be larger for the price, but acceptable - window seat allows for "people watching". Free newspapers to read during your stay nice touch - easy to make friends at this establishment.

This is by far the best place in Hornchurch. The staff are always friendly. The food is always excellent. The prices are very good. If you haven’t visited it yet I highly recommend you do.

We buy occasional bread and pastries from here when in the area and must say that it is definitely at par if not better than Waitrose's boulangerie. Slightly more expensive than usual however on good day, the service and pastries are worth paying that extra bit.

What a great place! We by pure chance stumbled upon this cafe when looking for ice cream in Hornchurch. They have ice cream and more - great selection of patisserie baked (as told by the owner) on site. Loved and will definitely be back.

This is a wonderful independent cafe with a great atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff and delicious food. My husband and I went for brunch with our 9 month old twins and my in laws and had a wonderful time. From the wonderful staff who helped us set up high chairs and get our boys settled, the prompt and friendly service down to the absolutely delicious food and drink, everything was wonderful and we had a lovely brunch. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for something a lot more interesting and tasty than the generic chain coffee shops dotting the high street.

Love the atmosphere of this little cafe way better then chains. Use to go to Costa but now go here. Tea and coffee tastes good. And the food yummy. I enjoy the scrambled egg on there home baked sourdough. Dessert well no words needed. Or maybe one Yum. They sell the bread also and im now becoming to buy it from there. Don't mind spending £2.50 on proper tasting bread.

Stayed at the nearby railway hotel for secret cinema. Needed a proper breakfast in the morning and TA led us here... wow am I glad it did.

Found this lovely french cafe through trip advisor and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. Initially ordered sourdough, smoked salmon and avocado, but the Patisserie items (made on site) were irresistible too! Owner took time to chat to us - lovely lady. V friendly and efficient staff. Clearly popular as it was nicely busy despite the mid-morning, mid-week visit. Sat outside which was lovely (road is busy but bearable). Would definitely recommend.

The first thing you notice when you walk, in is the wonderful range of delicious cakes on display. The bread is delicious and substantial, instead of the airy fairy kind you get elsewhere. The staff are always friendly and helpful and there is a lovely welcoming atmosphere.

The first thing I'm delighted to say is that this fabulous patisserie is in the centre of my hometown of Hornchurch. Although we're not regular visitors over the thirteen years they've been open we have managed to pop in a few times a each year for either a coffee & cake or a light lunch. The patisserie is run by a lovely french family and it's their friendliness which really really brings the locals together. They serve the most delicious cakes & pastries as well as sandwiches , toasties , flatbreads etc. As we were in town on Saturday we decided to pop in and as usual the place was very busy. We ordered a coffee and then taking a look at all the amazing cakes I decided to try the Banoffee Tart which was absolute heaven. Owner Helene then came over for a chat and also to ask what I thought of the tart as it was new. She then pulled up a chair and we started to chat not only about the cakes but all things associated with the area. She then treated us to another of their amazing cakes a Lemon Meringue Tart which was so light and again a delight Another thing they specialise in is to make large cakes for special occasions and to which yesterday we was delighted to see a couple of stunning examples of this. The first was an amazing Elton Mess Cake and the second a heavenly Chocolate creation. Before we left Helene decided to bring us another little treat. A small sample of the amazing Croquembouche and no surprise here either as this was a cake lovers dream. I would definitely recommend a visit to Le Moulin. So if you're local and for some bizarre reason you haven't been then do so or if you happen to be in the area and looking for somewhere to have lunch then this place is a must stop. I'm looking forward to my next visit already and enjoy some more delights.

normally after a school run and when I'm off from work, I like to bring the wife here as they serve a up an excellent alterantive to british breakfast. It's fast service, friendly owners and reasonable prices make you want to come back every week.

Went for a coffee at the café yesterday, not only did the lady take the order down incorrectly, it was barely warm when it arrived and had asked for it to be made extra hot. The coffees were supposed to be large and were delivered in normal cups and also the one with syrup in was given to the wrong person - not sure how many more mistakes one could make with such a simple order, however, please read on! There was such a rigmarole in ordering a very simple order that I was not given my change and I totally forgot as the lady clearly couldn't take down the order....two coffees ended up costing me £20!! I telephoned this morning as I didn't realise I hadn't been given my change until last night when I went to pay for something in a supermarket, I was told there was nothing they could do about it now despite asking if they had cashed up last night and found they were £15 over what they should be. A very disappointing and expensive experience, I will NOT be going back - dreadful!!!

We came here for the first time today, everything looked great as it took us ages to decide what to have for lunch. Both went for the poached eggs in sour dough with ham and it was perfect. Eggs runny and ham went great with it. Had a nice cup of coffee with it and would give it 5/5 at that point. As we were leaving we thought we’d buy a small strawberry macaroon each which unfortunately when we bit into them were solid. Was expecting them to melt in the mouth and be soft and creamy inside. Shame as everything else was perfect. We would go back though and soon.

This is the second time I have been in here and it truly is a delight. Staff are very friendly and take the time to assist with choosing my desserts. I adore the lemon meringue and all cakes are made on premises and ingredients are sourced from France to ensure it’s authentic roots as confirmed by staff.

I often drop by this exceptional little cafe and buy mixed fruit creme patisseries for my parents. The pastry is crisp and fresh, much better than anything you will find in Patisserie Valerie.
