Le Bistrot Pierre in Leicester

We attended lunch on a Saturday afternoon for the Valentines 3 course meal. The food was mouthwatering, fresh and delicious, especially the crème brûlée. The restaurant was busy and we found the waitress attentive, not rushing us to free the table. Would highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again. Thank you 😊

Very disappointed, we booked for valentines meal, received a confirmation email and then 6 hours before the booking received an email saying the booking had been cancelled tried calling and were told it was valentines weekend so they wouldn’t help. Dont book here you will be left with no booking at the last moment when everything else is booked up.

Oh my!! I always rave about BP. But it has now gone better. My usual starter yum, don't know what or who did that but the best I have had. Main, pork medallions off £10 menu, please keep it on menu. Then paris breast. Didn't know whether to to eat it or paint a picture. Awesome. And awesome staff too.

Excellent food at a reasonable price. I had mushrooms on a toast followed by a steak frites. And a beer to top it off. Very friendly service and nice atmosphere inside the brasserie. I highly recommend it.

Chicken Normandy is exquisite. Lovely decor, atmosphere, Malbec wine, and service. It's definitely worth a visit. Booking is advised.

Great for Gluten free as most meals can be adapted to suit this allergy. Nice staff, may have been a bit short staffed but we’re very friendly. Nice atmosphere. Just need to work on the coffee latte art! 😂

Food delicious but had to wait a long time to receive it.

Visited on a cold and windy Tuesday in January and was glad to find the place warm and welcoming on arrival. Great choice of dishes and I enjoyed every one. Staff all friendly and attentive. Never had to wait a second with an empty glass. Lime and soda a very reasonable £1! Only negative for me is it’s cashless which I’m against, but it wasn’t me paying on this occasion so can’t really complain. Couple next to me had the taster style menu available on alternate Tuesdays and it looked incredible. Great value too. Will be back.

Overpriced food of mediocre quality

We visited today as a party 10 (8 adults and 2 kiddos) and the service was impeccable, Josh was great! The food was fantastic also and it was such a relaxed experience considering how many there were of us. Will definitely visit again!

Amazing food!! Definitely go back a third time…this was our second. The Normandy chicken was to die for!! Very attentive staff. The only letdown was that the French onion suit was ordered as a main and it came out as a starter. The lady was very quick to come out and ask if we would like to have fresh one for as a main which shows true attentiveness. The price is very much in line with the quality of food. The atmosphere is amazing and nice and relaxed.

We were staying in Leicester for 2 nights and on the second night decided to reserve a table at Bistrot Pierre, we've been to other locations in the chain and had been impressed. As in other Bistrot Pierre's the decor is a bit quirky and, as you might expect, French in style. The area was divided up into a number of small 'rooms' which gave it a cosy feel. On a Saturday evening it was only half full but this is probably to be expected early in January. We were quickly shown to our table, the wine order was taken a few minutes later then about 10 minutes later our meal order. All very efficient. My starter of calamari was both a generous size and tasted fresh, far better than the rings you are often served. Our main meals of Normandy chicken, fish cakes and pork medallions were all very good - perfectly cooked, full of flavour and with well thought out accompaniments. For this quality food we thought the prices were very good value. Service was quick and friendly throughout, absolutely nothing to complain about at all.

Lovely restaurant, which felt very festive and relaxed. We visited for a pre theatre dinner and were not disappointed. I had the chicken and fries with a mushroom sauce, which was delightful. Restaurant was not too busy (as it was early evening), service was prompt and bill was reasonable. Worth a visit.

I've been here for some nice meals previously so it's a shame that I will be unlikely to return. We went here tonight and when we realised there was only a set menu for new years eve, we decided not to eat here tonight. The main issue was that the staff were very rude and blatantly ignored us. Secondly, £70 for a "4 course meal" - one of which was bread - is very steep. My parents often like going to Michelin star restaurants which charge a similar price for much better food and much much better service. Also, I've heard very negative things about management at this restaurant. I often see staff wanted notices outside so the staff turnover must be very high, if that tells you anything.

A great menu with a lovely interior and atmosphere at this restaurant. The staff were a little overstretched. An unfair service charge was added to the bill, but thankfully they were happy to remove it upon request.

Came for Christmas day dinner. Very easy to book online and good selection of menu incl vegetarian options. Service was excellent throughout. Food was very good and excellent portions! Nice selection of cocktails, wine and coffees.

Another disappointing Christmas meal over priced best part the pudding. Only house wine as didn't have at least 5 wines that I asked for on menu.

Very disappointed. Table not ready.Ordered the Christmas menu and chose our choices over a month ago only to be told two of the desserts they hadn't got so little point in pre ordering. Half our starter plates were taken whilst the other half were still eating. Then we asked for cocktails but no one came to take our order. Bill was also incorrect. Food was nice but not very hot. Most of the staff pleasant but to us were not very attentative.Great shame as we normally love this place and were hugely looking forward to a family Christmas meal.

I have been a regular at bistrot for at least 12 years. So have tried so much stuff. But have to say roast gammon awesome BUT I want the recipe for the apple stuff. That I could eat from a jar. As always you are awesome.

Good Christmas decorations. Sirloin is well cooked. Recommend upgrading to truffle fries. Comfit duck leg is terrible and tasted very dry, don't order. Crème brulee inside is cold not warm, and not particularly delicious. Mussels special is a cute cuisine and it tasted good, well matched with sauerkraut.

Randomly decided to have lunch here. Previously, always walk by and never thought of twice to stop for a meal. Glad we stopped and they had a table available. Love the interior decor. Option on nice big window seating or you can site further in away from the natural light for a more cozier atmosphere. Waiting service is excellent no issues and friendly. A few dietery and gluten free options available which always a plus. Prices are great and the food was very tasty and perfectly seasoned for my taste buds. Manager was very polite and personable. For a traditional French and English meal and good service with out spending too much I would highly recommend. Will visit again to try out more of their cruises.

Decent enough experience, nothing particularly stood out as either good, or bad. Pre-theatre on a Saturday night. Booked for 17:30 and we're comfortably out by 19:00 (three courses).

Enjoyable experience. Definitely recommend making a reservation as it does fill up, especially on a weekend. Really love the calamari here as they are gluten free and delicious! They have a good wine list and they have good set menus if you book during the times those menus are available. The lemon dessert is also so amazing!

I book a table for my family and i, 4 of us for a Sunday at 12:30. First thing i noticed is how busy it was so i think at least around these times you'll need to book to avoid disappointment. The ambience is very nice lots of lighting and a pleasant feel. We all ordered 3 courses and there was a nice sufficient gap between the courses so there was never a feeling of hurry up and eat to free up your table. I did only happen to notice in small print on the menu bottom that there is a surcharge added as tips and i feel this is wrong it should be optional i determine if i have had good service or not. The staff were pleasant. The coffee only comes in set size cups and it was not made very well and the only milk alternative was soya. Menu felt a tad limited but we chose still with relative ease. The food was excellent, so well prepared piping hot and clearly freshly made. The only criticism was portion sizes felt a bit wanting and having had a 3 course meal i was still hungry. Some minor criticisms but i would definitely recommend

Wow the food was absolutely amazing. The service from all waiters and waitresses was top notch. One waiter Josh was brilliant and his very good at taking a photo ….. better than myself. We will be returning before Xmas. Ten out of ten 👏

This food is delicious. And I want to eat more of it. Prices have gone up since lockdown but where hasn't? Wish they'd put more honey on the chorizos, but good gosh darn those chorizos are tasty will be back working my way through the rest of the menu.

A friend of my daughter who was based in Leicester, recommended Bistrot Pierre, which has a 20% student discount. We went there for lunch and note that the prices were slightly higher but the restaurant was crowded. We managed to secured a table and ordered a sirloin steak and boeuf bourguignon (marinated diced beef slowly braised in red wine, shallots, mushrooms, honey roasted carrots and pomme purée) and a pint of draft Bier 4.9. The food was really good but unfortunately, there’s no student discount offered on Saturdays.

Nice place in the centre of Leicester, was there on a work trip with colleagues. Food was excellent, good choice of wine and excellent service. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely incredible meal here on a Friday night. Service was friendly and attentive - it did take a while to be welcomed at the door and another diner had to alert the staff but not a major issue. I had Steak Frites which was cooked to perfection and the peppercorn sauce was delicious. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Creme Brûlée. Great value and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend

My self and 2 friends had delicious Meal the only downside my friend and had to return the steak as it was chewy but they immediately let us choose beef Bourgognion which was delicious the service was excellent especially the waitress Kourtney who took care if us all really well. I would thorough recommend this restaurant the offers on Drinks and food was amazing

Food was okay but not spectacular. The worst sin was that a steak tasted distinctly of fish. Staff insisted that everything was stored separately etc, but neither of us had ever had steak that tasted like that. Perhaps just a one-off..?

Walking past last night and called in for a table for 4. From the first welcome to the last goodbye I cannot say a bad word. The service was amazing from each member of staff warm and friendly and very knowledgeable. The food was gorgeous and served quickly and hot and the steak cooked exactly as requested. Cannot say how lovely our experience was only gutted you are expanding down south and not up north to Manchester

Our mains were forgotten about and after asking more than 1 sever about the delay it took some time for it to arrive. Food was decent but we hadn't anticipated on spending so much of our lunch time in the restaurant.

Fantastic breakfast option which was tasty and great value. Vegetarian and vegans catered for. Food was a little slow to the table but this wasn't an issue for me. Service was also great. I would not return for the coffee, but other reviews say better.

Great food and top service - really enjoyed our dinner here at Bistrot Pierre! The 3 course menu is fantastic value for money with a good variety of dishes, and cocktails 2 for 12 before 7pm. Excellent meal, and great service. Even asked us about any allergies. The vegetarian options were good and there was plenty of food on the plate. I had a job to finish mine. The waitresses were visible and attentive without being too in your face. Highly recommended by us all

Best cooked breakfast in Leicester centre by far. Everything is perfectly cooked , the ingredients are high quality. The staff are pleasant, and it's not expensive.

We've been meeting as a group at Bistro Pierre for many years, but recent changes have spoiled it for us. The food is more expensive, but so are most restaurants. The changes we don't like are 1) a 10% service charge is now added to the bill. Service here is often very slow and we don't always want to leave a full 10% tip. We always divide the bill between us, so having it added to the bill makes it very awkward is some of us don't think it's deserved, but others want to pay it to avoid a confrontation. Yes, you can ask to have it removed, but this changes the dynamic and leaves a bad taste in the mouth. 2) This is the killer for me - they won't take cash any more. This is ok if you're with one person, or a family group where one person can pay and the others transfer the money to them later, but with a group of friends who only meet up every 2 or 3 months, it causes a big problem. We have always put cash in and add a tip as we see fit. We will now be looking for another restaurant for our lunches, which is a shame as the food is nice.

Had a few lovely meals recently. Most notably the soiree gastronomie menu on the 13/6. The food was so tasty and piping hot. Had a few different flavour combinations I haven't tried before. And £25 for 6 courses is an absolute bargain

Did the 3 course menu was fantastic. Onion soup had too much onion I couldn't eat it all but it was really tasty. The beef was delicious and would definitely recommend. Chocolate pot portion was very generous and rich! Staff were really friendly.

Food was lovely friendly staff too

My first visits were great, but it got worse with time in terms of food quality for some reason. The ambience is good, though. I would still say it's a nice place for a date night, but be careful with the menu.

Midweek lunchtime visit. Great service and food. Will definitely be visiting again.
