Exemplary friendly service in a nice venue however the food doesn't match the high ticket price. Spotify playlist (with adverts) didn't match bistro restaurant either.

Food fantastic the staff so polite and friendly. Couldn’t do any more for us and our little puppy. We are returning again soon.

absolutely lovely little spot for a charming dinner!!! me and my partner were looking for somewhere to have a fancy lobster dinner as a special occasion and found this place! the staff were so funny and friendly, they let us meet our lobster before he was cooked (the lobster's name was manolo (also you don't have to do this haha, we just wanted to)). all the food was INCREDIBLE: the calamari, the lobster platter, the cheesecake dessert - all spectacular! we were even given little palate cleansers between courses, the staff really went the trouble of making this a really special dining experience. this was a year ago by the way, and me and my partner still frequently dream about this meal.

We had a warm welcome from Ellie, who escorted us to our table. The food was excellent, on hot plates , the wine we chose was delicious. It's the first time we have been to this restaurant, but it won't be our last. Many thanks Ellie and staff, see you soon.

The staff were great and very attentive we did have a mishap with a missed meal but that was sorted swiftly with a free large glass of red wine for the person who was missed and overall we had a lovely time

Recently visited Licorella to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had a lovely dining experience. Restaurant has a calm and peaceful ambience and the staff attentive and professional. Went for meal with my wife on NYE. Service was excellent and so was the food. Fresh, juicy king prawns, crab gratinade was lovely too. Shared a paella which was stuffed with fresh seafood. Would definitely go again if I find myself in Scarborough

What a gem of a place, fabulous menu, food amazing, attentive polite staff, only one little criticism, cheese board was a bit sparse for nearly £10 and its sacrilege not to have Stilton on there, I was looking forward to blue cheese and wine and why on earth it was served with a pot of strawberry jam is a complete mystery to me.

Couldn't recommend enough. The comparison between quality of food and cost is brilliant! The staff were so welcoming and attentive. We have already arranged our next meal out here!

Spent ages reading reviews and decided on Licorella to take my partner for his birthday, it was that little bit more special an occasion as it was our first time together for his birthday and we were in Scarborough for a couple of days to celebrate. We had a lovely welcome and a table had been reserved for us in the window which was really nice, drinks were served quickly and our order taken promptly. We shared the charcuterie board for a starter which was really nice and we both ordered Fillet Steak for mains. Although the sizing seemed a bit small on the menu we were happy to pay £30 a head if it was a good cut and well cooked, both ordering medium rare. The mains came and we both thought the steaks looked a little odd in texture but tucked in, my partner instantly didn’t look well. I honestly thought he was going to be sick at the table. He tried his hardest not to have to spit the first mouthful out but he couldn’t swallow it. It was off. Bearing in mind these have both been cut off the same fillet (confirmed by the waiter) there was no way I was eating mine either. After a bit of a disgruntled exchange the waiter agreed to take them away and swap them even though we both insisted we didn’t want another as it had put us both off. Replacements did come but they looked exactly the same, a very odd texture and as the waiter had told us he’d just bought a full fillet that week these had also come from the same piece as the bad meat so neither of us could eat them so were both left hungry. We were offered one drink for myself as an apology and left paying the £120 bill which included £60 worth of mains we didn’t touch. My partner was then up all night poorly. It completely ruined what was meant to be a really special night. We definitely won’t be returning.

Five stars well earned by this excellent restaurant! The menus is comprehensive and the food cooked and presented to a very high standard. The warm welcome completed our delightful experience. Thank you so much, we will certainly return.

We often visit Scarborough but had not eaten at Licorella before. Myself and my husband went for an overnight stay with our little spaniel. We called in on the off chance to see if they were dog friendly. Advised we could take our dog in the downstairs area and so booked a table for dinner. Food was delicious, service was excellent and very efficient. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere and staff made us feel very welcome. Will definitely be back!! 😊

Late lunch (3pm) on a cold Sunday afternoon in need of a bit of cheering up! Being the only people in here at that point, we had superlative service, with th e fabulous chef taking our order, cooking within sight& delivering beautiful homemade rosemary focaccia bread, tapenade, chorizo, lamb chops & a fabulous fillet of sole with capers & almonds. This chef can COOK! Beautiful meal from start to finish. Freshly cooked food throughout! Fillet cooked to perfection and the lobster was out of this world! Desserts were 10/10 too! Without doubt the best surf and turf I’ve ever had. The steak was cooked exactly as I asked and was seasoned beautifully and the lobster was so sweet and juicey. My partner really enjoyed his sea bass too. The wine was lovely and the service was excellent. Already recommended this place to my in-laws and we will definitely be returning next time we are in Scarborough.

Visited on a quiet night so can’t really judge the service on anything other than the waitress was friendly , pleasant and for the kitchen the food came out promptly and hot. The food was decent quality, my wife’s special was Sole stuffed with prawns, the fish was fresh and very tasty. Prices are on par and I would visit again to try some other good selections on the menu.

Sunday evening dinner, plenty of customers, and with good reason. There is a wide range of excellent food served up here, defying easy description. Some dishes are Italian, others Spanish influenced, and my choice for the main was Mongolian Beef. Whatever any of our group of 8 chose, all were agreed that it was superb. Wine list good too. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our meal. Everything cooked to perfection, one steak medium rare and the other beef medium. The cocktails were really nice too and no issues with stock which we have found elsewhere, (not in Scarborough) . Excellent service but also a friendly family run feel to the restaurant. Would definitely go back again.

For the price you pay, the service is sub standard. We asked one waiter for more drinks 3 times, and another twice. For them them to come back 10 minutes later at the same time for the order! A service charge is added to the bill, which is annoying for me as I like to tip down to my personal opinion. £140 for starter, main and desert for the two of us - and at that we didn’t have anything special like lobster etc. If they are charging top top price, I expect top service…. Where the service was way below standard I’m afraid. (As another example, when putting cutlery on the table - they don’t know what you’ve ordered, come and ask what you’re having then pick the cutlery)

Was very hopeful of a good experience here after seeing reviews and looking at the menu. Ordered calamari and oysters as starters, the calamari was soggy and chewy, the oysters tasted nice but were unwashed and gritty. Mains were squid ink pasta and surf and turf. The squid ink pasta was again stodgy and bland. The steak was pitifully thin for the price (£49.95) and just tasted of charcoal. Both came with half a lobster, which were both like rubber and overcooked. The only response we got was “Oh well the lobster is cooked fresh” with no apology or anything else. My drink an Old Fashioned was so unbalanced and was basically whiskey on ice with a couple of cherries on a stick. We felt unwelcome and not very catered to during our stay. Despite all of this we paid a bill of over £110 for 2 people with no apology and no offer of any refund or anything of the sort. Overall the whole experience was just underwhelming and disappointing.

Just celebrated my 60th birthday here at Licorella with family and friends and what a fabulous evening we had! The food was absolutely delightful. There was plenty on our plates, no skimping, and was cooked to perfection. Our party was looked after by the professional and caring staff members all night and I truly couldn't have wished for more! Thank you all so much for making my special birthday so perfect. Highly recommend this beautiful bistro!!

Called in on the off chance of getting a table, so pleased our first restaurant choice was full. The service was superb. I had mussels as a starter which were the best I'd eaten, the steak with prawns and caviar was cooked exactly as asked. My partner also really enjoyed his oyster starter and steak with scallops. A lovely bottle of wine finished off our delicious meal. Lovely finishing touches included the complementory 'amuse bouche' and the palate cleansing sorbet. We will definitely return.

Outstanding food oysters to start followed by hake crab and a fillet steak. "Best steak I've ever had" from my son and the hake was cooked to perfection portions were the perfect size for us. We also had cocktails which had a generous serving of alcohol in each and were not overly iced I would highly recommend eating here.

Had booked a few days in advance and when we turned up I wasn't quite sure about it tbh. Had I been walking past, I probably wouldn't have stopped and gone in, however, despite that, once inside and sat down, the service and food was excellent and i'm glad we went. Having seen the menu online, we were impressed with the choice of seafood. We turned up, having not booked, and did not receive a warm greeting. We were told we would have to wait 10 minutes - which was fine. We ordered some drinks. The cocktail menu looked great, so I asked for a pina colada, only to be told they weren't serving cocktails that night. We waited a long time for a G&T and a coke. We opted for a charcuterie platter for two (£14.95) and a mixed paella for two (£39.90). The starter was small - the sort of thing you can buy in Aldi for less than a fiver. There were a few grapes and olives but the rolls, with one small pat of butter each, were cold and stodgy. When the paella turned up, it looked impressive but it had no seasoning and I doubt very much if stock had been used. The chicken was hard, the calamari chewy and some of the mussels had not opened. The overall taste was of strong olive oil. It didn't taste authentic at all. Our bill came to £72.50, which included a £7.50 service charge. Maybe we caught them on a bad night but considering this was a special anniversary meal, we were very disappointed. Their website looks great. The reality was that the restaurant didn't live up to expectations.

As somewhat newbies to Scarborough I was left really disheartened as most surrounding restaurants were fully booked until later in the evening. Stumbled upon licorella on chance! And what a lucky chance it was. Firstly, a vibrant clean welcoming atmosphere. Very friendly and accommodating staff with great knowledge of the menu. Open kitchen with a full view of your order being cooked, straight out the pan, on the plate and to your table steaming hot!! Clean glass wear and cutlery even had a waitress select the correct cutlery for what was ordered!! And who doesn’t love a freebie as soon as we sat we were given a Russian salad to taste! I've had my eye on Licorella for a few years when visiting the area as we like to treat ourselves to a nice restaurant while away. I think it may have changed ownership at some point as the name has changed. However, the menu has stayed impressive, especially for seafood, which I love. I decided this was the trip on which I'd try lobster and felt this was the place to go and wasn't disappointed. I opted for the pasta negra half lobster. The chef made life easy for me by shelling it, which was a relief, if I'm honest! The pasta with lobster sauce was superb and plentiful, needed as though lobster meat is incredible, there is never much of it! Our Tuna tartare starter was lovely and beautifully presented. My partner had the crab hake main, and the fish was beautifully cooked. We also received a complimentary appertiser and a palette cleanser. We were served, I think, by the owner and a young waitress in training who was very sweet. The chef came out during our visit to ask how it was and received a compliment. My only 2 suggestions would be that they have an impressive wine and champagne list. However, wine by the glass options are limited to 2, and a third would be welcome. Finally, the interior is nice and cosy but maybe needs a bit of a refresh. In summary, though, a great culinary experience, thank you!
