The staff were all friendly and the food was unique, beautiful, and delicious.

We visited the restaurant for our 10th Anniversary. We had a 7 course meal that was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. Truly fantastic experience and impeccable service from a very friendly waitress.

A unique and amazing experience - service was first rate from all staff. The wine pairing were perfection with a knowledge server. The food can be classed as very fancy - so if you have a fussy palate not all courses will suit everyone. The restaurant is very understated with shades of white and some more colourful art. My husband and I love going to Launceton Place for celebrating a special occasion. The food is always really delicious, exciting and a super special treat. I always love the ways it’s inventively presented too. We ordered the 3 course menu, with each of us choosing different things to taste each others. But by the time you finish with coffee, you always seem to get 5 with the amuse bouche and petit fours. This time we treated ourself to a wine pairing that was perfectly chosen for each course by the delightful sommelier and really added to our special experience. I really like the way this restaurant has plenty of space for intimacy between the tables, freshly starched linen and very comfortable soft furnishing to absorb any sounds, giving you a feeling of being pampered. It’s so unusual to find in London these days.

Service good, food looked good but taste uninspiring.

Unique menu presentation began the spectacle. Service was fantastic, knowledgeable staff who seemed genuinely excited for us to try the food. Food was delicious. Could not recommend enough.

None of the courses is large but, with amuses bouches, bread course and petits fours the meal is balanced and satisfying so that one leaves contentedly well fed, especially as each dish is quite intense with complex but well-judged and complementary elements and flavours. Wines by the glass are well chosen for the cuisine, service is smooth and friendly and the background music is discreet, being just perceptible behind the hum of conversation. Standards here are high and consistent all round.

Inspired innovative food beautifully presented with quite generous serves. Bread was superb. Very professional front of house with good and friendly rapport . Nicely paced delivery of food. Impressive choice of wine by the glass and a knowledgeable sommelier. Not cheap but still very good value for money.

Amazing food, only bettered by the service.

This was the second time that we have eaten at Launceston Place and it was excellent again. We had the Chef’s menu and all courses were superb. Highly recommended.

Lovely evening - the staff were very attentive and brought us a little anniversary pudding at the end of the meal, which was a nice touch. The only let down was that my partner and I have some dietary requirements (not particularly onerous) and we emailed over a month in advance to let the restaurant know. We were told that the kitchen and waiters would be aware but this did not appear to be the case. After being brought the menu, we flagged this to the waiters once again yet were still served dishes containing items we had specifically mentioned we couldn't eat. Additionally, the substitutes for some of the dishes were not of an equal level in my opinion - for example, rather than a monkfish main, my partner was given a mushroom. We thought substituting for any other white fish would have shown a bit more effort to accommodate and it came across like a last minute scramble to put a dish together.

Had an exceptional experience at Launceston Place. This wasn't my first visit, and it certainly won't be my last. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by Hili (apologies if the spelling is incorrect), who took care of us throughout the evening. He paid meticulous attention to ensure our glasses were always filled and that we thoroughly enjoyed each dish. Opting for the Taster's menu, it's challenging to pick favourites, but the Egg Soldier, featuring Liver Parfait served with toast, was undeniably perfect. The Monkfish with Chorizo, bouillabaisse, and lemongrass was a delightful combination, and the Wellington—pigeon with herb emulsion and foie gras—was cooked impeccably, leaving us in awe.The Chicken Consommé, part of the amuse-bouche trio, was a burst of flavourful goodness. Special mention goes to Mathieu, who provided outstanding service and care, ultimately making the entire meal a perfect experience. As a bonus for movie enthusiasts, it's worth noting that one of the scenes from Satburn was filmed here!

I have been coming here for many years and have always found the food amongst the best I can find anywhere. Not as much this time. Still very attentive servers. But - dishes were... well, the celeriac was just OK - not much of the characteristic depth of flavor. And I wasn't sure the Cod was as fresh as expected for a moment. I'm sure I'll try again, but the prior night I dined at Ekstedt with a similar style and the options I tried there captured that magic of what I usually get at Launceston. Depth of flavors. Still - a great room, relaxed service and I appreciate all the Amuse which this time were the highlight!

We really had the most magnificent anniversary celebration lunch at Launceston Place. The warmth and kindness of the team to make everything so perfect is exceptional. Every course of the tasting menu along with the wine paring was delicious. It’s now a regular event to celebrate my Mums birthday here. Love the menu particularly the Eggs and Soldiers. I have two favorite restaurants in the world Launceston Place and Apron in Vienna. Relaxed atmosphere with great food and service.

It's a long time since I have had such a wholly enjoyable meal out. It's a peaceful place, with good acoustics (most restaurants have too many hard surfaces and often intrusive music). Staff managed to be attentive and friendly without ever being intrusive. The food was imaginative, and elegantly presented, and I can't think of another meal where every course has multiple flavours that released sequentially in every mouthful: you'd take a bit and get one flavour, and then others would come through a little later. Made for a very engaging meal, as opposed to a merely functional one. My first visit there was over five years ago, and it was good then. It has maintained a very high standard, and for the quality of food is very good value. They also, most unusually, offer premium wines by the glass, so it is possible to explore tastes in a way not possible in other restaurants. Thoroughly recommended. And in a very charming part of Kensington with old fashioned street lamps, which all adds to the charm and sense of occasion.

My husband and I came for a special birthday, during our annual weekend trip to London. We chose the restaurant after an online search for fine dining showed LAUNCESTON place had great reviews. The chef here is a genius! Wonderful, exquisite flavours, beautiful presentation, beyond fabulous. We have eaten at Marcus Wareing’s and Raymond Blanc’s restaurants and LAUNCESTON Place easily matches the food there. A special birthday dessert came after we’d eaten our meal. A fabulous experience, which we hope to repeat next time we come to London. We can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Excellent address. Very refined cuisine, with very interesting culinary experiences. We feel that the chef takes great pleasure in his preparations, and assembles different ingredients successfully. Very good value for money considering the work. That said, fans of "good big ribs of beef" will have to move on, we are here in refinement and light plates. Above all, the pleasure of discovery and refinement.

We ate at Launceston Place on our last day of a recent visit to London, based on the recommendation of a friend. We've probably had 4-5 very memorable fine dining experiences in various cities, and this ranks up in the top 3. It was outstanding!!! The service was excellent, as you'd expect for this type of restaurant. I choose a wine pairing with dinner, which was super fun since the wines were ones I'd never choose. We had 6-7 courses, plus maybe 3-4 amuse bouches. Everything was creative and excellent. The atmosphere is pretty quiet, so if you are looking for something lively with a buzz, maybe not your place. If I had to pick on a few small things, I think the monkfish in the fish course was a little tough and the beef wellington dish was a little rare for my taste. The brown butter in the bread course was a work of art. We spent about $850 for four, with one bottle of wine plus the wine pairing I choose. It's definitely a place for a special occasion or to treat your group for a memorable fine dining experience. We would go back!

From the minute we stepped in, we were well attended to. Intimate setting, fine dining but also a relaxed feel. Delicious food in a very nice setting, a quiet almost village style street just yards from the hustle and bustle of London. The restaurant is very stylish and comfortable. Very friendly service and great choices on the menu, with an innovative way to select. The lunch menu was terrific and I really liked the way you could mix up any 3 dishes.

Weird dining experience. Unenthusiastic greeting and shown to an empty table.- no place mats, no menus, no cutlery, not a glass or flower- and sat totally ignored for over half an hour until I spoke up. We were slowly provided each with a glass of room temperature water- and a wine list. No menus. Had to ask for menus. These are the ultimate in haute pretension- a plastic box containing plastic discs which you remove to determine what you might eat. Each reveal stating only one word-trout, venison, ragout, mushroom- but with what? We were three highly educated people and not one of us could understand the bizarre ritual expected. Our waiter was young and hugely enthusiastic-but his English was from another world. Huge amount of nodding and grimacing from us. Eventually and with little conviction of what we’d get, we placed our orders. Long, long wait. At last we were each presented with two minuscule amuse-bouchés which were all quite delicious. For the next hour or so there arrived a pantheon of weird and rather wonderful cubes, squares, triangles, splodges of “guess what this might be I’m about to eat?” In every instance the extraordinary care that had gone into each surprising and delicious specimen was more than obvious. Nouvelle cuisine at its apogee. For those who like this kind of thing, it’s the kind of thing they’d like very much. Although full, the restaurant seemed to lack any vibe or character. All walls painted a dead and miserable prison grey (don’t care if it is Farrow & Ball). And an elegant property such as 1 L.Pl. Does not need loud, brassy jazz Muzak. The ridiculous “menu” like kids’ plastic circles would prove to be a total embarrassment for most people, like us, visiting first time. I pity any foreigners. But the many morsels of food, when they eventually come, are miniature delicious masterpieces. But not cheap. A South African Chenin Blanc for which we pay £7 in Lidl, was £50. It is an experience. Would I go again- NO.

I had the lunch Chef's Tasting menu and wine pairing. Every dish was good and some were even surprising, like tuna and cod, or egg and liver mousse. Amazing presentation, staff were lovely and friendly, and the restaurant looks great with sunlight. Wine pairing (lunch) was good except Japanese orange wine. Highly recommend this restaurant.

An exceptional experience, especially considering we wandered into this place spontaneously on a Sunday afternoon not knowing what to expect from this tiny gem tucked away in a little nook of Kensington. The restaurant is wonderfully comfortable and cozy, making you feel welcome from the very start. The service is extremely friendly and attentive, always making sure we are having a great experience. The interactive menu is such a smart and creative way of having the guests interact with the menu, letting them customize it into a wonderful odyssey of flavors. What we received were beautiful plates of art, both visually stunning and exceptional taste wise. The mains were delectable, but the desserts were something I’ve never had before. Perfectly balanced flavors, unique and modern yet simply delicious at the same time. I’d come back just for the desserts alone if I could, that’s how wonderful the chocolate mousse and yuzu dessert were. This place is excellent value for money and I’d recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat.

Lunch prior to concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Great location. Lovely staff. Food was excellent & beautifully presented. A truly lovely dining experience. NB. The only thing that might be an issue for some was that the toilets were down some narrow stairs, but my 85 year old mother managed them without assistance.

Some of the dishes were bad very eggy. My friend is a pescetarian and they served cheese which was non vegetarian. We kept asking and insisting and yet were served Parmesan and one more cheese.
