After visiting Diana’s family home, I was very hungry, but there were all super famous stores nearby, which seemed expensive and not delicious. I came to the Shepherd’s Market by accident and randomly chose this restaurant. Everyone, it’s really delicious. It’s so delicious~~ The price is not expensive for London. I recommend it as a pre-opera dinner. Anyway, it’s just a short ride away on the MRT. It’s not even a stop or two away.

Entrecotes ordered were absolutely fine , risotto lacked flavour. The service could have been more prompt…. The worst part …. Cooking smells … washed my hair beforehand.. waste of time , suede jacket into the cleaners next day £60 to get cleaned, every item of clothing stank of fried foods. Might as well have been in the kitchen cooking! Because of that I would not go back .

I loved every min of my time spend in this restaurant. From the moment arrived the door was opened by a friendly member of staff. The staff were so very friendly accommodating and just down right nice people. Our waitress on the night was Emma aka Janell Monae (if you knw, you knw) :) the Food was excellent an amazing value for money, the location TOP Tier, I felt I wasn't in London anymore. If you like French food and an amazing vibe this has got to be the spot. So coming back here. Thank you L 'Artiste for an amazing evening - from the Time life Crew.

It is a very small restaurant, so it's pretty cosy but also almost a little too squeezed. The kitchen is open to the restaurant, which always adds a nice flair but also results in your clothes, smelling of oil etc. My friend and I shared the mussels to start with, which were very tasty, and she then had the beef and I the chicken breast. Mine was very bland and boring, I have to say, and my friends had not enough gravy. The wine was good and the service was friendly but I would not come back as the food was definitely lacking in flavour We each paid £50

L'Artiste Muscle truly delivered a culinary experience that left us impressed. My Cassoulet (and I love casoulette) was very, very, good boasting a substantial Toulouse sausage that added a delightful richness. My girlfriend savored a notable Beef Bourguignon, and both dishes were complemented perfectly by a bottle of Beaujolais. The overall experience was not only delicious but also reasonably priced. Service was good too. We shall be back.

These lovely people managed to fit us 3 people in last minute on a busy Thursday night, we came on a whim so had no idea what to expect but were so pleasantly surprised! To start we had Escargot with a delicious sauce - no messing around with shells, so easy to eat and on some lovely bread. Then we had Moules Marinière with fries which were SO GOOD. An absolutely huge portion of some of the best mussels I’ve ever had in the UK, the white wine sauce was so good I could have had it as a soup and the fries were skinny, crunchy and amazing. For dessert we had the Tarte Tatin, it was caramelly, juicy, delicious and perfectly paired with some crème fraiche. The house wines were pretty good, very healthy servings and the service was friendly, relaxed (in a good way!) and so nice about how late we turned up. What a wonderful evening.

I called at short notice for a table for 1, and was accommodated outside with no trouble. The food and service were excellent; I was seated quickly, orders taken promptly, informed advice given, friendly conversation with staff which crossed nobody’s boundaries - all things which sound simple but are so hard to find! I had the sea bream which was exquisite, moist and rich with a delicious anchovy accompaniment. I was so happy with my main that I added a chocolate mousse, muscat and a calvados. Staff were attentive and friendly without being remotely in my face. It’s fascinating to sit and watch the (immensely rich) world go by in Mayfair, eye opening for a second city woman. I would absolutely recommend this place and come back again at the drop of a hat.

I don’t normally review my favourite places but I noticed a very misleading review posted by a guy (Charlie Howell) who had eaten 50 meals at l’artiste. He had a bad experience for which they did not charge but his biggest problem seems to be that his wife was referred to as ‘darling’. He left a bad review and one star!! Well mon Cheri you couldn’t be more wrong. The owner, who I’ve never met, did a very measured reply and should be congratulated. Now to the review I’ve been dining here since 1990 so many many meals. It used to be traditional French with a limited menu but all really well cooked with a touch of class and great atmosphere. Now this place is truly exceptional they have a new chef who is creating surprisingly good food and the service is stylish and brilliant. I wish I’d taken a picture of the food he served us last Wednesday but I don’t do that. Suffice to say it was Michelin standard. I love this little place it’s brilliant. The service is second to none and they keep a good cellar. If you’re lucky they may refer to you as mon Cheri - enjoy

I had such high expectations of this cute little place because the reviews were so good but it fell totally flat for me. I had steak frîtes, which should be outstanding as a basic French staple and it was mediocre at best. Same deal with the crème brûlée, they used a small, deep ramekin instead of the normal wide, shallow one and it really threw off the texture (thick in some places and super runny in others), and other than the brûléed top, basically had no flavor at all. Service was decent and the atmosphere is charming but unlike other diners, my meal just didn't do anything for me and I'm pretty easy to please! But you got to do the basics right...

Another small, family run restaurant that is part of the fabric of Shepherd Market, having been around for at least ten years. The service is pleasant and personal. The food is classic bistro material done reasonably well but lacking a little oomph here and there (the depth of flavour is a little lacking). Overall, it makes for an enjoyably informal setting and is very reliable. Both my starter of escargot and chicken in moustard sauce were pleasing. It is very reasonably priced for this part of town.

When I spoke to the waitress she took the plate away and then came back to the table and told me it was rare?! Cute little bistro with great food, wine list and friendly staff. Lovely evening. Lamb steak was well seasoned and cooked perfectly for me, served with side salad but you can choose different sides. My partners beef Bourguignon was very good too.

I have visited this cosy restaurant several times over the past year, and each time it is a delight, the staff are welcoming and the food is good quality at great prices, it is a small restaurant overlooking the main square of Shepherd Market, but such is the ambiance at times one might be eating on the Rue Mouffetard! For good food at a very reasonable price with little fuss and good atmosphere I recommend.

Travel to London for business reasons annually. Stay in Mayfair. This is my go to restuarant on a Monday or Tuesday night when I just need a decent dinner and am happy to entertain myself whislt getting over jet lag.

We visited this restaurant tonight in late November. After serving our food, the waiter (and owner) promptly opened the front door and propped it open. My wife was frozen and our food immediately got cold. I asked the waiter to please close the door which he begrudgingly did.A few minutes later, he propped open the door again. I complained yet again and he retorted that the chef was hot. I told him that we would never return. He muttered a rude comment in French, then closed the door.I had the (cold) cassoulet which was less than mediocre. Here is a tip for the owner. Install extractor fans for the chef and treat customers with more respect. Here is a tip for customers. There are plenty of other restaurants in this area, go to another one because this is the WORST!!!

Un quartier sympa qui ressemble à un village, perdu entre les deux grandes avenues de piccadilly et oxford street.Un resto avec de la bonne cuisine française et un personnel très accueillant.

We were meeting friends at another place nearby, had an hour or so to kill, so popped in for a cup of tea and a glass of wine. The waiter/manager was most kind and helpful.....the aromas were great so next time we will definitely make it a dinner destination and. in the meantime, recommend it to one and all.

Little French restaurant at the shepherds market area. Good food. We had the pate, cod and beef bourgignon. The latter was tasty but the meat was not as tender . However, I still recommend this place. Great customer service .

My friend booked a table here and he managed to get us the corner table by the open window on the hottest day of 2016. The whole experience was amazing. Great location and ambience super waiting staff and great food - I had escargots and beef bourguignon and we shared a great French rose - definitely go back here again !

We have been a few times during the year, a must when in London. Quite small inside with a tiny kitchen but there is a downstairs area and a few tables outside. French food, steak, frites, snails, veal, salad, cheese, tart tatin......very acceptable choice of wines. It's great to watch people come and go in Shepherds market. Not especially cheap but we love it!

This place has been here for years and is largely unchanged. Hopefully it will not change ever. The ambience and style is very traditional and the food is very typical of a small French wine bar. I have had many great evenings at this place over the years.

My friend loves this place.so took me there for my visit visit. It was a warm summer evening so the doors and windows were all open creating a continental feel. I had pâté, steak-frites, salad and we shared a bottle of rosé. Very authentic and très intime

Made the mistake of eating here on the premise that it was close to my hotel. I wandered in without a reservation and the waiter was initially cordial. He was obviously French and when I ordered in French he pretended not to understand me (he later conversed fluently in French with the charming couple seated next to me). In any event,mi had a salade nicoise starter which featured canned tuna and wasn't very good. I then had an entrecôte with frites which was perfectly good. Wine by the glass selection is ok and reasonably priced. I want be rushing back.

A Sunday evening so plenty of room to soak up a little bit of Paris though we were obviously in London. Interesting that it's so French, people coming in off the street were asking for tables in French. Anyway, suffice to say that menu offers good wholesome cuisine, good portions (not too big) and service was excellent.
