Larder in Lichfield

Wonderful lunch. So many flavours in my packington pork meal. Superb service, and my guest even got a handwritten birthday card. The toffee apple dessert was a delight. I thoroughly recommend trying out Lichfields best lunch!

Visited for Sunday lunch. When we booked there was a set menu at £35 a head which didn't exist when we arrived but there meals didn't work out much more than that. Maybe £35-40 a head for three courses. Good choice of starters. We had pate (needed more toast) and brie. A few choices for Sunday roast including a vegetarian option (we all had beef or pork which were delicious). We're left before pudding but they looked equally delicious. We have booked to go back! We went with our two children and we're made very welcome. Very good value for quality!!!

Fourth visit to the Larder and no let up in the quality of food and service provided. This place really impresses every time we go and has got to be on the verge of some higher recognition in the food world when compared with some of the ‘Michelin’ starred restaurants in the Midlands. We went for the Saturday afternoon sampler menu and was not disappointed. Every course cooked and presented to perfection and served up by a fantastic team that work there. We will be going back more often as this is one of lives affordable treats. Well done guys.

Great place for lunch or dinner. The food was amazing, and there was a lovely vibe. We weren't rushed despite there being a time limit on the table (fully understand the time limit, the place was fully booked). The only let down was that we weren't told of the specials and nobody offered to take our coats. I wouldn't have known about either if I hadn't heard the table next to us getting asked if they wanted to hang up their coats and what the specials of the day were. Nonetheless, I'd go back for the food.

Really nice place, made to feel very welcome by the team. Atmosphere was great, could not believe how busy it was on a Saturday afternoon, but tables were well spaced so it did not feel crowded. Food was very good and fresh. Extensive drinks menu with some lovely wine in there. My wife loves the cocktail options. The serving team were friendly, professional and very attentive - a credit to the restarunt. We will be back! 😋

Unfortunately this was a very poor experience. Starters were okay. I ordered the burger fo my main course which is £18 for which you’d expect a high standard. The burger came out and was dry and very over cooked in a very thin supermarket looking bun. I asked for it to be replaced but by the time the replacement came my friends had already finished eating so we didn’t actually get to eat together. Bread for 3 people was £9 which is very expensive (the curried butter with it was delicious though). We poured our own wine all night. When the bill came the burger was surprisingly left on despite the issues above and I had to ask for it to be removed. Overall an extremely disappointing experience for a restaurant at this price point, only made a little better by the very sweet front of house waitresses.

Alec & the team was brilliant The location watching the kitchen staff was such a different experience. One that iv never experienced before The wine & drink service was great The Prosecco was great too😂 Really really enjoyed, would recommend to any one!

The service is amazing , the food is amazing and value for money , we had the taster menu for the first time they have ever served and it was hard to reduce the star for food to 4, theirs as few little tweaks before larder is worth a Michelin star, on part with many Michelin star restaurants, well done to the team

Food was excellent and service just as good.Really nice atmosphere.We had a party of 5 and two of us had steaks which were well cooked and tasty.The puddings were fairly expensive in my opinion at over 9 pound each.Like most people I don't mind paying more if the food is good and it certainly was.

One of the easiest 5 star reviews I've had to give. In many years of working in the industry and dining at many a venue. The larder is right up there with the very best. On arrival you are warmly greeted by the head waiter ( name I neglected to get ) who shows you to your table and nicely remembered that it was the wife and I anniversary. He nicely introduced us about the restaurant and we was seated in the lovely upstairs room. The whole place is fantastic and the right atmosphere is carefully balanced from decor to music. You can tell the time has gone into carefully bringing the right level of professionalism without being too swank as they say. It is a place that will meet most occasions and the level of service is up there. The head waiter was very knowledgeable and knew his menu well and was very pleasant and attentive. I noticed the way he passed instruction to others also top level and could see he had the respect of the other seemingly younger service staff. Our server millie was a star. Again knowledgeable and attentive, warm , polite and on the ball. She did a really top job and she will grow to be a leader one day I am sure of it. Not sure if hospitality is what she wants to do but if she did she could very well go far. So massive thank you to Millie and who ever sees this review , I'm sure you know this buts Millie is a keeper. That said all the staff was great but millie stood out for me and my wife. This review is long and we haven't got to the food but please take note that this place is worth the time. As for the food it was next level good. Detail , presentation , flavours are all spot on. The chili lime prawns was just magical and delicious. The wife's soup of the day , which I believe was butternut squash was absolutely amazing, didn't think such a simple soup could taste that good. I enjoyed a well seasoned sirloin that was cooked perfectly but the winner has to go to the wife's duo of lamb. Now I use the butcher that supplies the meat here and it is top notch meat but the way in which it was cooked was pure perfection. My wife enjoys many a meal but let's say isn't as enthusiastic to dining as me and many others but this lamb even stunned and impressed her which if you knew my wife is like receiving a Michelin star, she was properly wowed by the lamb. For dessert we both opted for the bannoffe profiterole. This was a lovely end to the meal and real treat. Perfect balance of light sweet flavours that wasn't over the top sweet. Overall this was a top level evening that went beyond the expectation and exceeded the great reviews we had been told about before booking. The staff are a credit to the venue and the anniversary card was a nice touch and set the evening nicely . My old fashioned was probably one of the best I've had made for me and next time will maybe indulge on a taxi and enjoyed 1 or 2 more. Absolutely excellent, worth every penny and Google should have this place as a 5 star not the 4.8 , who ever knocked them down was a jealous rival or a customer suffering with delusions of grandeur lol really this place is awesome. Highly recommend

This one is actually 5 star worthy Been twice for Sunday set meals so far and the experience is constantly superb The food irrespective of its reasonable price is extremely well thought out and executed. Would highly recommend the roast beef! The service is always attentive and friendly The place is laid back but has a sophisticated interior and feels warm and inviting No service charge is mandated which is nice to tip as you can/see fit

A moment of serendipity. We had the pleasure of dining at Larder for the first time 2 weeks back. Cheese Beignets to start, absolutely delicious and the Chateaubriand was the best ive had this year. It was absolutely superb, I can't recommend this place highly enough, we'll definitely be regulars here. At a snip of the price of next door too.

Great restaurant, very high quality of food and service, staff were great and really enjoyed the meal.

This visit now and I think this was my favourite visit, better atmosphere upstairs. We had a great meal, very tasty, nice selection on the menu to choose from. We both particularly enjoyed our starters. Duo of Lamb was probably the weakest part of the meal, didn’t feel well balanced and croquette was very dry. Deserts were great! Wines are pretty expensive but a good selection, and the cocktails we started with were nice.

A must when in Lichfield. Outstanding food, impeccable service, fantastic value for money,what's not to like. Will definitely return the next time we're in the area.

Our main course was very disappointing. The sirloin of beef was quite tough and the accompanying gravy was very salty. There were 4 of us and we all agreed that we wouldn't visit this venue again.

The atmosphere was better upstairs but my husband has just had a hip replacement and couldn't climb the stairs. So we were happy to sit downstairs. The staff could not have been more helpful.

Fantastic food service was brilliant from the second we walked in the door. We were a group of seven and had three courses all presented beautifully.

Booked the kitchen table for six and had a fabulous meal and night out. The food was fantastic and the staff friendly and attentive. Upstairs may have the Michelin star but The Larder is by no means a poor relation. Thoroughly recommended.

Eight visits later it is still a 5 out of 5. Consistently brilliant. Hard to be critical as this place is top notch. You won't be disappointed. Whoever we dine with all comment on how fantastic Larder is.

This place is truly incredible! Beautifully decorated with a modern and chic look, the staff and their outstanding service is amazing. Steaks had to go back. We didn't get the table we reserved as the people on it didn't move and they knew they only had 2hrs but restaurant didn't bother moving them. V noisy too acoustic poor

Had the most amazing Sunday Lunch at Larder last Sunday. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were extremely attentive and the food was impeccable. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend!

What can I say? Other than best meal and service we have had in years! Visited last night 26th Jan for the first time for our anniversary meal and everything we ordered from the menu was unbelievable, the service was perfect, can not fault this place, we where that impressed we booked back in for valentines day while we were there. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. Thanks Guys

Great place for a night of eating and drinking.

The food, along with the customer service, is superb. We have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions and it has never failed to exceed itself in terms of both service and quality. The staff are always warm and welcoming, the restaurant is very clean and well maintained. A fresh and changeable menu means you're always guaranteed the option to choose new and different meal choices. The food quality is excellent, always fresh and tasty, nothing is ever too much trouble and we wouldn't dream of eating anywhere else, this is always our first choice for either a Sunday Lunch, mid week supper, business lunch during the week or a Saturday treat, whatever the time of day the quality and reception is always the same. Thank you for all you do, you are always exceeding yourselves!!

Fantastic food and service! This is our go to place for special occasions!

What a fantastic restaurant. The staff from reservation point through to service were brilliant, they all were genuinely happy and more than pleased to talk and offer advice. The upstairs was very comfortable and had a nice atmosphere, not too crowded not too open. And the food was brilliant, the Chateaubriand was soooooo good it reminded me of the scene in The Matrix when Cypher is having dinner with Agent Smith and he bites into what looks like THE most divine steak ever. That’s what the Larders Chateaubriand is like and with the addition of King Prawns in garlic sauce (£5 additional cost) it elevated it to a new level. The A La Carte menu has so many “Oi I fancy that” choices that you just have to come back, everything from the Duo of Pork to the Seafood Linguine (Chefs Special). My wife and I had a wonderful 3 hours there and honestly couldn’t fault any of it. I would make this one of your “Must Visit” restaurants, you won’t regret it.

Menu needs to be more balanced. Lighter dessert options needed. Nice food, but nothing really special. No mention of market fish, I don't know why restaurants bother putting it on the menu if they are not going to promote it when you are handed the menu. Further staff training needed. Service could be improved, left wanting drinks. Missed opportunities to increase the customer spending. Not as good as it used to be but that's just my opinion. Worth giving a try though to make your own mind up. Could have been a one off.

Had a wonderful night at The Larder, great staff, great food, great time had by all. I really couldn't fault anyone or anything about the whole experience. We had the taster menu and accompanying wine flight, more courses than a college. We all left very full, and a little less than sober...

Staff were wonderful, food fantastic, drinks scrumptious. Would definitely recommend. Not normally a fan of sticky toffee pudding but this was the best I’ve ever had! Salmon gravalax starter looked and tasted brilliant. Only qualm was my main wasn’t as hot as it could have been, but the experience was so enjoyable I happily overlooked it. This is a top restaurant. Lovely food, good service, nice ambience. My partner had Monkfish which she said was very good. I had Duck which was very well cooked and came with a brilliant duck sausage roll. The vegetables were nicely cooked. We shared a salted caramel profiterole for dessert which was delicious. A very strong recommendation.

Fabulous experience for Sunday lunch & very reasonably priced. The menu had a relatively small, but perfectly acceptable number of options for each course, and there was definitely something for everyone (meat, fish & vegetarian/vegan options). We all found it difficult to chose between the delicious dishes on offer. Extra courses of bread & pesto butter before the starter and a fudge sweet each with the bill were served. Everyone loved every course & we all commented on the incredible flavours. We had roasts for the mains and it was probably the best I’ve ever had. The sides of vegetables were delicious and generously-sized and the extra portion of hot gravy was a thoughtful touch. The staff were incredibly friendly & attentive, and each course arrived quickly. The drinks selection was excellent and also very reasonably priced. The whole experience was faultless and we will definitely be back.

From the moment of our arrival, the attentiveness of the staff was amazing. Exactly what you pay for. Food was delicious, dont be deceived by the small looking a la carte, I couldn't manage a dessert it was that filling. The only criticism I could say was that it was very noisy upstairs, each table was full (it was a friday night so thats to be expected) but it was just a tad over powering in a small room and did hinder our visit a tad. Over all a lovely experience and the ferrero rocher dessert was adored by my husband 👌

Good quality food. The steak was superb. Cocktails were also nice. The pesto butter was wonderful with the bread and the staff were attentive. Food took a little bit longer than expected but it was a fully booked Saturday evening service and the drinks were flowing in the meantime. Great Restaurant all-round. The quality of the food and service was first class. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable and our party all agreed that this was one of the best restaurants we had been to for some time. Would highly recommend a visit to any food lovers.

Poor customer service and overpriced for what it is. When paying £36.99pp for Chateaubriand then you expect a bit more than 3.5 thin slices of meat each and Triple cooked chips that had their life cooked out of them & were like eating scratchings. I have no problem with paying for good food but this was not good. When I explained to the staff member they were not bothered at all. £8.50 a pint is a little pricey to be fair but the customer experience is nowhere to be seen. It’s a shame because it’s a well decorated nice place but lacks atmosphere. The staff make you feel like you should be grateful. It’s a NO from me. 👎🏼
