Lakeside Cabin Cafe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Well, it was our final visit to the Lakeside Cabin last week. What a wonderful hidden gem this cafe is, and it is going to be very much missed by so many, now that it has closed its doors. The food exquisite, so tastefully presented, especially all those gorgeous cakes, mouth watering! The location and setting, along with the amazing family who ran it made it a very happy place to be. Thank you ‘A’ team, for making our trips an unforgettable and enjoyable experience. So sad that you have gone, but we wish you all the best in your new venture. We will DEFINITELY come and find you at Pydar Mews in Truro.

I visited for the last time. My lunch was wonderful as usual , Hubby had the ploughman’s . I couldn’t wait for a piece or should I say slab of strawberry & cream cake. This wonderful place CLOSED at the end of September. The lease no longer viable , the cafe has decided to move to TRURO . So although I am sad , I know I will be able to visit TRURO for my delicious Cakes. So if you love this place like I do look out for ‘The Cake House’ in Truro .

We always come to this cafe when staying in Carbis Bay every year. We came in August and were greeted by the lovely owners in the lovely friendly way we always are. It's always one of the highlights coming here. The food is out of this world delicious and the owners work extremely hard to create a little piece of heaven. We sometimes sit outside in the garden in the gazebo and order the most amazing cakes and coffee. Sometimes we go for lunch and eat delicious and beautifully presented toasties. I had broccoli and cheese soup and it was the best I've ever had! I can actually say that about all the food in here. Great cafe, ran by great people. Music, food, decor, location, people - all exceptional. You can sit a while and soak it all up ! More than a cafe to us ...An experience not to be missed.

Called in for lunch today and had lovely freshly made sandwiches with salad. Were both too full to order any of the fantastic cakes this time and very hot weather meant it wasn't possible to take cakes away! BUT we will be back next week for coffee and cake, so looking forward to it to. Cannot stress how good this place is. Staff recognised us even though we hadn't been for nearly two months, so friendly and had a lovely chat too. See you next week.

I had write another review… popped in on the off chance… rest of my family had beautiful cakes I had a devine tomato and pepper soup with a hunk of bread! Brilliant value for money and Was one of the best soups I have had for years! Such a nice place to visit

After reading good reviews we called for coffee this afternoon. We took a seat in the garden and waited to be served. No one came so my husband went to inquire whether it was table service. The lady he asked seemed disinterested but followed him back to our table. We asked for coffees and was informed they only do americanos..we ordered 2 coffees. The waitress then proceeded to go and chat with customers who seemed to know her. She was laughing and joking with them and taking photographs of them..no thought to our coffees. We decided to leave and as we passed the waitress we told her we had changed our minds and were leaving. She didn't look at us or acknowledge us and carried on talking to the other customers. Very rude, we will not bother again

The staff were friendly and accomodating! Beautiful location and they serve big slices of cakes and the scone was heavenly. We’ll definitely come back again on our next holiday.

I cannot rate this wonderful café highly enough. The staff are friendly and helpful, there is a vast array of cakes to choose from and the kiddies menu is good. We will definitely be back to try more cake soon!

Will admit to being a bit skeptical, but this place was a very pleasant surprise. Fairly small / limited menu, but fresh and delicious. Be sure to save room for dessert! The chocolate gateau was excellent.

What a find. Good job I’m not local or I’d be the size of a house! This place was on the top of my list to try after reading all the reviews about it, whilst we were on holiday in the area. And we were not disappointed! We ordered ploughman’s, a baguette and kids sandwiches finished off with treacle tart, tiffin and clotted cream. Full to bursting. Beautifully presented and huge portions. Fantastic and efficient service. Definitely a hidden gem, go if you can.

We live in Dubai & my parents live in St Ives. We always make it a priority to visit here for Lunch. My parents don’t drive so when we visit, they too look forward to visiting. Today was our annual visit. It’s always so wonderful. The food is delicious. The portions are hearty and generous. We had a mixture of homemade quiche, sandwiches and toasties. Followed by homemade cakes & scones. Absolutely delicious beyond belief. An absolute treat. The owners are incredible and the location by a lake is breathtaking. We wish we lived closer and can’t wait to return. I love looking at your Facebook page and drooling over the food. Thank you once again. See you next time.

As locals we love this hidden gem serving great food and their fresh cakes are to die for, we had a coffee and walnut and a lemon cakes and shared them between us and will be back to savour. All homemade with great service from attentive friendly staff.

This cafe is lovely, so much so that we visited twice within our holiday! The staff are so lovely there, genuine and very welcoming. The cakes are delicious, freshly made, we’ve had a variety throughout our stay although one of our favourites was the cherry bakewell which was absolutely superb. Keen to return for our next holiday !

Getting to the cafe was a surprisingly easy drive from Hayle which turned out to only be about 15 minutes. When we arrived it definitely did not disappoint compared to the photos we saw beforehand. It’s atmosphere is rustic and homely with staff being equally as welcoming. We ended up ordering two slices of the salted caramel gateau and a slice of the Victoria sponge gateau. The portions were generous, the buttercream and sponge were both absolutely perfect. I’d definitely recommend coming here, and will definitely be back!
