Popped in for lunch with a friend after I recommended we went here as had great food and service in the past. Lovely to see this is still the case. My cheese and onion omelette with chips was lovely and my friend had a burger with chips which also looked great and he said was lovely too. Very good value for money here as we both had 2 drinks with the food came to just over ÂŁ15 for everything. Will definitely be back soon!

After a long cycle ride and a loom round the shops on a damp day it has to be said that Lake's doesn't;t look much from the outside. Having said that, it's got the look of a good honest English cafe so I decided it was worth a go.

En-route home from an early Gatwick drop-off and fancied breakfast. Trip Advisor told us you were open at 7:05...........but alas, having waited until 7:15 you still weren't open, despite the printed opening hours card displayed in the window. Then, to our disappointment we noticed a faintly scribbled note saying you weren't open until 8! Unfortunately we didn't have time to wait. Such a shame you hadn't updated your information.

Tucked down a little pedestrian walkway between a car park and South Street, this tiny cafe nestles, and offers a surprisingly good selection of fresh, cooked-to-order food.

They probably do the best bacon and brie bap in Chichester! Unfortunately the service does let it down. We ordered 2 coffees, 2 baps and a portion of chips. After repeating the order 3 times to the waitress, she still got it wrong - the cafe wasnt even busy!

The place looked nice from the outside. As it was raining we sat inside. There was a fairly unpleasant "cafe" smell.

It is not fine cuisine, there are no posh sausages and pancetta bacon rashers here.It is for no nonsense food, fried and suitable for the stereotypical trucker and builder. I tried their largest breakfast and got half way through before getting the meat sweats. They say that if you can clear the order in an hour, you get free tea/coffee. I doubt many get free beverages! The coffee and tea were perfectly acceptable and actually better than Costa (which isn't hard). It was good value and the service was ok. The foreign waitress was struggling a bit with her English and looked confused but was pleasant to us.It was nice to have a good honest breakfast feast without a pointless Rocket and Leaves garnish.I will return once my cholesterol returns to its former level.

Looking for a very light breakfast and, by chance, stumbled upon âLake's Cafeâ - a little gem. We had cheese on toast and toast and marmalade with teas â no trimmings, we had what we asked for (and change from a fiver !!!). A very popular place, not a spare seat available. Traditional breakfasts were being cooked to order and looked very appetising. Later we chatted to a couple of customers who were full of praise for the place â really recommended.

"Lakes is a small concern, a Gem in the Crown of Chichester, a traditional English Cafe, who serve excellent well cooked food! Their main concern is NOT PROFIT, it is providing excellent food, quickly and as inexpensively as is humanly possible! The menu is straightforward the seating is both internal and external, their service is friendly, they'll have a chat with you/or not, you choose! The food is totally fresh and cooked and prepared quickly and efficiently! If you are on a low budget, or prefer traditional cafe food to today's {NouvelleCuisine} then Lakes is a must!

We visit Chichester on a regular basis, we were looking for somewhere different to eat, when we stumbled on Lake's Cafe and what a super place to eat. The food is freshly prepared, and good portions, service was friendly, welcoming and very efficient. I ordered Liver and Onions, Chriss chose the Meat Pie, we were both very happy with our choices. Really good value for money. Thoroughly recommend Lake's Cafe. We will visit again......Visited in January 2016.

What a refreshing chane to go somewhere for lunch and not have a greasy spoon meal! The waitress was marvelous letting me have a childs portion of liver and onions. I asked that the liver should not be too well cooked and it came out perfect. Would recommend this little cafe to anyone. Great stuff. Thank you for a great lunch.

Ok I need To be fair The service is good the coffee is good table service. We went in for breakfast had breakfast Two in the menu with extra toast. The food was cooked well one thing I couldn't stomach was the deep fat cooked sausages but for the price what do I expect. The bacon is of a good quality and the toast came out in masses your standard portion here is two slices cut in twos we didn't realise this and ordered extra so four slices so carb overload lol we will be back thou for a bacon bap the sauce isn't HP and just bulk buy ketchup however for small family run business this is top of end of them I think ?

As an expatriate on a low-fat, low cholesterol, zero-alcohol diet the delightful aroma of a traditionally cooked Full English breakfast wafting out of the passage of Deanery Farm Lane off South Street invoked an instantaneous trip down memory lane.Lake's is a little like a tardis (Dr Who's transport) - small on the outside (3 tables seating 12) but vast on the inside (7 tables seat 24). It seems scarcely possible that such a small kitchen should produce such an extensive menu that caters to all tastes involving quintessential cooked 'all-day' English breakfasts, sandwiches and baguettes, fish-and-chips,burgers and grills, jacket potatoes and salads. Incredibly, given that all but one of the tables were being used, the waitress' demeanour was permanently cheerful, chirpy and helpful. The fillings of the sandwiches (white, brown or bap) are FILLING. Two sandwiches and a mug of good coffee allowed me to spend a quiet half an hour away from the madding crowds in South Street inhaling the aromas of cooked English breakfasts for six quid. Excellent value for money. The customer mix during lunch was families-with-children (predominantly), adults taking a break from shopping and business people.Extra services available are 'Take-away' and 'Phone Orders'.

We were recommended to try here and am delighted that we did. Very large portions at a very reasonable price. My son and I had traditional English breakfasts and it was lovely to be able to have fried bread again., So many places nowadays refuse to offer fried bread so it was joy to be able to have it again. My wife had fish and chips which was again a large portion and very reasonably priced.Excellent cafe and if visiting Chichester well worth having a breakfast or early lunch there ( [please note that they close at 2 or 2.30 pm)

Good friendly service and freshly cooked food. Very reasonable prices. Deanary Farm Lane is just off Deanary Close where there is pay and display parking and the park just opposite.

We booked at short notice and a lovely staff member moved other bookings around to fit us in. Then we messed up and went to the wrong pub (with the same name) so accidentally didnât show up. Even when phoning to ask why we hadnât turned up, SHE WAS STILL LOVELY! So great service, even though I didnât set foot in the place. Weâll visit next time for sure (as Iâve heard the food is great too).
