What a fabulous place with a warm and friendly welcome. A great lunch with tasty food and proper tea, with a tea cozy! We could have spent hours looking through all the amazing memorabilia too. Tony is a great host and really made our visit on a cold and wet February day. We are definitely coming back for afternoon tea soon.

This is a wonderful little treasure on the sea front at Vetnor. I'd always wanted to go, being a love of everything vintage and knowing it has a 1940s theme. Everytime I have been to Ventnor we have not been able to go in as its been full . I'd pre booked a table for myself , husband and two young boys . We where also able to bring out cockerpoo with us. Toby was so accomadating from the start . I had booked us in for a high afternoon tea. Inside the tea room was like walking back in time . So much to see ! The afternoon tea was just perfect ! and Tony was just wonderful ! and worked around my boys with alternatives to cake . I absolutely loved it ! And so did my husband and boys . It was great that we brought the pup too . The staff where lovely ! Can not recommend enough!! A lovely hidden treasure and I would definitely go there again !!

We had been hunting around for a alternative location for a superb cream tea after reading that Chessel Pottery has gone very much downhill and no longer makes the cream teas it was famous for. Lady Scarlett’s has an incredible record of top scores, which we’re now extremely suspicious of. We phoned ahead to check for availability and although the person on the phone wasn’t rude, they made us feel we’d possibly made a bad choice with their attitude on the phone. You can’t judge a book by its cover, but when we arrived at the place, we wondered if it was really the right place. Sadly it was. Not very inviting and seemed a bit too rough around the edges, despite the ‘World War period’ theme. When we entered, a grumpy man (possibly the owner) was there observing people coming in, although very few people were coming in (a big sign of bad things). When we mentioned issues parking, he told us that there’s lots of parking in Newport. This location is nowhere near that, so we assume we were being told to go elsewhere if we didn’t like it! Lovely! The place was empty whilst others were full, so there’s a hint! We left without ordering anything. An unpleasant experience.

My partner & I took his elderly mum away for a few days on the Isle of Wight. We decided to have a cream tea for lunch after visiting the botanic gardens. We weren't disappointed. Covid-19 restrictions were still in place & this lady has it well sorted. The tea room has a 1930's/40's theme & it is fascinating looking around at all the memorabilia. The lady running the tea room was dressed the part & had her hair-styled from that era. We were served a 'proper' pot of decent tea with our scones, cream & jam. The scones were homemade & delicious & it was everything you would wish from a cream tea - perfect! I popped to the loo afterwards & there was even cut-up sheets of newspaper hanging in there (don't worry - you can use modern-day loo roll...!!!) A great idea, good fun & we'll definitely go back when we're next on the island.

We indulged in hot chocolate and cakes which we were happy to discover are home made by the owners. Delicious! Board games available which enabled quality family time. Was great to learn that they are 'dementia' friendly and I would consider this establishment to be the perfect place to spark some long term memories for those with the condition. In addition to being child friendly they also welcome dogs with treats available for 4 legged friends. We live local and must of walked passed this place lots of times on Ventnor sea front. Today we decided to call in for a cup of tea. We were both glad we did, it's only a small tea parlour with around 20 seats. The place is full with military memorabilia from the war and the 1940's. Even the way the tea is served is like going back in time with the china cups and tea cosy over the tea pot. Make sure you have enough time to look around at the memorabilia on the walls and checkout their toilet even if you don't want to use it..They serve lovely cakes and savouries with Greek salads, panini, pasties etc. They also have an alcohol licence if you fancy something a bit stronger with your food. They are open all year including Christmas Day. So if you are walking along Ventnor sea front, pop in you won't be disappointed.

The best cream tea I’ve ever had! It came with homemade blueberry and strawberry jam, clotted cream and fresh strawberries - so good!!! My partner had a latte and a huge slice of banana a cake. He really enjoyed this too! Really pleased and will definitely be returning.

Nice small tea room, great crab sandwiches, second world war themed, vintage pictures and memorabilia with authentic radio playing. Some outside seating with great views of Ventnor bay. Friendly and reasonably priced.

We had no idea from the outside what a fantastic little gem was lying in wait inside. Stopped to get an ice cream for my son and by chance popped my head inside and saw a chalk board with all range of delights, from cocktails to pancakes!

Small (can probably only seat around 16) but perfectly formed vintage tearoom on Ventnor esplanade. Wartime objects all round the place, retro radio playing and an air raid shelter powder room make this an immersive experience. Particularly loved the ration recipe books to flick through while we waited. Not just a novelty venue tho - our crab pasties, homemade lemonade and gingerbread milkshakes were delicious and the service was friendly - particularly the chap who took the time to chat to an elderly lady reminiscing about having the same pattern tea service when she was a child. Unusual cocktails sounded lovely and delighted to see childhood favourite of spaghetti on toast on the menu too! Simply spiffing Lady Scarlett’s!

Our family had high tea at Lady Scarlett’s Tea Parlour in Ventnor. We phoned ahead and reserved our table and the customer service could not have been better. Nothing was too much trouble and we were asked about likes and dislikes when ordering.

Torn between feeding ourselves and letting the kids get to the beach we compromised and decided to get food to take away. There were a few restaurants and cafes to choose from but Lady Scarlett's stood out. The food was freshly made so we had to wait for a few minutes but it was worth the wait and we were offered board games to play while we waited which was a lovely touch.

Experience was ok. Food was slightly underwhelming and the homemade lemonade was pricey and was simply a sickly syrup with lemonade- I felt like I was drinking sugar! My jacket potato came with nachos , was a bit confused haha! I would probably go back but I’ve had better food- staff friendly

I absolutely love this place. Every time I go to Ventnor I make a B line for Lady Scarlets. It's right on the esplanade just yards from the beach so you can sit outside and enjoy their gorgeous home made cakes or bacon sandwiches etc. They have a wide range of lunch options as well as ice creams and any drink you can think of. The whole place is 40s themed and is full of memorabilia. It's just lovely. It's family run and the staff work hard to make everything just perfect for you. I thoroughly recommend this place. 5 stars!

A wonderful place to eat; such a pleasure to visit and find a place that was so welcoming and being able such enjoy top quality food. Nothing was too much trouble; we had delicious sandwiches freshly prepared from local ingredients. Coffee that was fully flavoured, but refreshingly not bitter. All the cakes were definitely home made; tasting well and looking gorgeous. The cafe was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our first visit, but definitely not the last.

Spot of lunch on lovely sunny day. Sat in the beautiful garden overlooking the sea. Tranquil setting with well maintained garden furniture. Delicious local crab salad and baguettes. Service was prompt and friendly. The location is a stones throw from the cliff lift at the top and away from road noise . Well worth a visit and now we know where it is, when we visit Shanklin we will be back.
