Fantastic Meal here! What an authentic Italian dinner with lovely welcoming yet calm atmosphere with great service. We had mussels, lasagna and lamb and by god were they all top notch, packed full of flavour and an overall very satisfying meal! Definitely recommend this family-owned resturant for a properly fulfilling dinner. Will definitely be coming back. 💖

If you are a traveller, London Luton is a short DART ride to the airport parkway station, followed by a three minute rail trip to Luton Town station. The short convenient travel is well worth it. If you are a Lutonian, support your local businesses and have a fantastic authentic Italian meal. You will not be let down. Michael and Agnieszka will treat you like Lords and Ladies of the Manor. I break my journey from London to Bedford to eat at Il Trattoria. Last week, I had Fungi Ripeni. Mushrooms stuffed with pate fried with mozzarella. Delicious. I followed this with pizza marinara with cheese, superb. Good food requires good wine and that is available too. Full bodied house red wine works well. So to the cost, extremely reasonable in days where others are inflation crazy.

This spot very cosy restaurant with homemade food pasta cooked with a choice of pasta carbanara the best I ever had . Been here more than 30 years family run business.

Pasta noodles are not fresh. Boiled junk. Burnt garlic bread. Meat sauce bland . Only 3 tables including me there for a Friday night tells you something about how bad the food. They must do their own reviews. I'd rather have had McDonald's and saved 5 pounds. My 10 year old can cook better

Celebrated a friend's 40th birthday and had the most wonderful evening. Absolutely delicious home cooked food and great service. The team were brilliant and made our celebration perfect. Thoroughly recommend!

Went there as my son wanted a pizza that was fresh and not from a chain. we live in london where this is never a problem . He needed something to eat before going to the cinema at 19.30. we had been sales shopping in town after visiting family.It was practically empty and I wasn't hungry and really just wanted a coffee.menu looked really nice and it was a proper little restaurant with table cloths and flowers which is a bit unusual in luton.my son who is 13 ordered a pizza which cost £9.00 and there was instantly an atmosphere. I felt very uncomfortable. The cook /owner came out and told us the minimum was £18 excluding drinks. Someone in the background asked if everything was OK like we were troublemakers or something.At no point did iI argue or become rude to anyone and it was very weird and intimidating. we had a margarita pizza,garlic bread and a prawn cocktail which was nice enough but very average . Pizza express is actually better .I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable.I could understand if it was packed but the place was almost empty. It cost £30 including £5. 80 service charge.I didn't enjoy it at all .I think they thought my son and I were some sort of tramps not good enough .It would have been a nice place to meet up and have a proper meal with a friend or a date night with my husband if you are in luton but I felt ripped off and disrespected and would never come again when visiting .

Il Trattoria is gem just 200m from the rail station. Well worth breaking your journey to meet Agnieszka and Michael and enjoy their restaurant and bon ami. An extensive menu of starters and main courses together with daily specials. Each dish is deliciously and carefully prepared by the hosts and served by their attentive staff. The wine list allows for matching to the food. The cost at this lovely restaurant has hardly changed despite the cost of living increases in recent times. Visit and you will not be disappointed. The worst italian restaurant me and my friends been to. Rude staff, frozen food and bad atmosphere. Will never ever go back again. And, they didn’t let us split the bill because they said the bank would "charge them"

The Salmon Carbonara was absolutely amazing! Couldn’t recommend it more, very delicious. Also had the garlic bread on the side and it was very tasty. Pizza is also very delicious but the Salmon Carbonara is definitely my go to meal. Can’t wait to try again! Staff are very nice, funny and friendly.

We received a very warm welcome at this Trattoria in Luton, and enjoyed a shared starter and Lasagne. The traditional Italian menu was backed up by 4 specials and provided plenty of choice.

Food was lovely but unfortunately the atmosphere and decor was not great. Service felt like they rushed to take your order and we were forced to order starters and mains at the same time when we didn't want to. It's not nice to be rushed. Having said that the food was tasty we enjoyed it. The chilli oil was great. Staff /owner need to be a little less rude - customer service needs a bit of work.

Delicious, excellent cooked meal at La Trattoria. We've been here a lot, it never disappoints. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Agnes and Michael are genial hosts. We are always made to feel welcome. We've had these same dishes at other restaurants all around the world and they do not taste the same. Michael has a magic touch as a chef and using quality ingredients just makes the food special.

Absolutely amazing food and service! We had bruschetta, olives, seafood spaghetti, spicy bacon penne, lemon sorbet and raspberry cheesecake! Couldn’t fault any of it- it was perfect. Proper Italian home cooked food perfect.

Ate here last Saturday and had a lovely time. The service was great and the main older lady who runs the restaurant is really friendly. I asked if they had any Aubergine dishes as I couldn't see any on the menu (I like the dish pasta alla norma) and she said no problem I will get the chef to make it for you. Now that's what I call service.

Very nice food, overall I would say it was a very good experience. From the start the servers were extremely attentitive, we had two young children with us who were extremely tired and they were supportive of any kick off/tantrum that was experienced. When we were given our meals we were given recommendations and a list of the food still available (as we turned up very late), we were also provided with a list of specials, all sounding delicious. Thoughout the meal we were checked up on to make sure we were happy with our meal and afterwards we were kept company until our taxi arrived (this was longer than average due to it being a peak time and a busy night). Overall I'd rate the experience one of my top experiences of eating out not only due to the food but due to the excellent service.

The la trattoria is the number one restaurant in Luton and Dunstable. Myself and my sister really look forward to going here. The food is amazing and great value for money. Being in the restaurant is like stepping into Italy it’s very traditional in its decor and its food. The food arrives nice and hot. The atmosphere is great. Our favourite is the king prawns they are delicious. The owners Micheal and Agnes a very friendly and make you feel very welcome.

A fantastic experience with an authentic Italian feel. Michael and Agnes always make you feel like part of the family and the food is always top quality. I have been coming here regularly for nearly 20 years and cannot think of many places better than this. In spite of the number of times I've already been here, I still look forward to my next visit.

Popped in here for a quick lunch due to being in the area for business, I love italian food so thought i would give it ago, a fair way from fresh authentic but it filled a hole. Good value

After reading all the good reviews we decided to try this restaurant and had high expectations- We arrived to not a particularly warm welcome - the waitress told us the specials were chicken, steak and veal and walked off - no mention of how they were cooked or what sauces they came with and no prices - after asking how the veal came the waitress had to go into kitchen and ask the chef who shouted out how they were cooked and the waitress then said did you hear that? we decided to just order off of the menu - we ordered drinks to start with (a bottle of rose wine plonked on the table - not even opened) when the lady came to take our order we asked if we could have a few minutes to finish our pre-dinner drinks - it was obviously a problem for her that we wanted to wait a short while and after being asked for about the fifth time we felt under pressure to place our order (even though the restaurant was half empty) - whilst the pasta dishes were nice the garlic bread left a lot to be desired - basically just a toasted slice of white dry bread - as soon as we had finished our main course our plates were taken away and the bill put on the table - we were not asked if we wanted anything else - as we still had half a bottle of wine left we didn’t settle the bill straight away as we were enjoying our wine - we lost count of the times they tried to ask us to pay - again under immense pressure we paid and felt like we had to leave - it was not a relaxing evening nor were we made to feel welcome. This restaurant specialises in pasta and pizza and we heard the waitress telling tow guys who wanted pizza that they only had enough dough left for one pizza - they had run out and it was only 8.30! Overall our experience of this restaurant was very disappointing - very rushed, unfriendly staff, no niceties and certainly not a relaxing evening - we will not be returning.

This is a real authentic italian restaurant serving fresh and tasty food. It is very very reasonably priced, good sized portions, a simple menu covering lots of italian dishes and lovely staff. They serve things when they are in season and have a range of specials too. We had a bruschetta to share with our mains and the tomatoes were so fresh. I went with colleagues for an evening dinner and we all left with full stomachs and happy faces. We all had a mix of pasta and pizza and would all visit again!

We first started going to this restaurant together in 1996, the food is amazing and as a family run restaurant they make the customers feel important and valued, the staff are friendly and helpful.

Myself and a small group of friends found ourselves stuck last night without somewhere to eat. Bad planning. Stumbled across this little gem. All of us are well travelled and all have spent significant time in certain areas of Italy in our careers and private lives. Not much to look at, but menu and specials provided a good choice, and the food really was outstanding! Owner and chef are a couple who were just lovely and balanced just the right amount of hospitality banter. Hope to be back next time I’m in Luton; indeed all the team will. Fabulous family run Italian restaurant. Agnes and Michael are warm and welcoming hosts. We feel like we are having dinner with family. I highly recommend this Italian restaurant. Nice folk but so needs updating. I like quaint but the toilet facilities were dire and the food was very basic. Like cheap sauces. Could not taste any fresh herbs or ingredients and flavours you normally get in a proper Italian establishment. It’s ok if you come out the pub next door half merry and get a pizza. If meals are going to cost more you want to enjoy them.

I went to this family run business with my 2 grandsons. We loved it so much that we ate there for 3 consecutive nights while staying in luton. I can't recommend it highly enough. My grandsons already want to come back here next year.

Luton town center is pretty awful. But if you do end up here, then go to this restaurant. I had the lasagne at it was truly authentic Italian, absolutely delicious. I could not fault it and could have easily had another.

I remember going to eat at La Trattoria in Luton when I was a university student back in the 90’s whenever I’d crave for some Italian food done properly like my peeps do it back home, Michele the chef-owner and wife Agnieszka saved many of my dinners at that time. I’ve recently been back to Luton for business after so many years away and was so pleased to find out that Michele, Agnieszka and La Trattoria are still there. Great to see the area around the restaurant has being pedestrianised by the council, a definite uplift from the old days. Fantastic to see that Michele is still cooking and Agnieszka always running the floor, looking not much different from the way I remember them, a bit of a time capsule still holding the same genuine, authentic, flavoursome Italian food and the hospitality warmth typical of the Italian restaurants of the old days. I ate lasagne, I had to, they were so good! In a world where chain restaurants aggressively dominate our high streets it really gladdens my heart to see established, old fashioned, independent restaurateurs still going strong delivering great food and the lovely family atmosphere you would expect from an Italian restaurant. I must go back soon and enjoy it as often as I can, and hope they are not planning to retire anytime soon!

We visit this place for the first time and depending on pictures and good reviews on google we where quiet disappointed by the food. It is very nice and old fasion resturant with very friendly staff. Customer service is very good but to fast. We sit and looked on menu and lady come to us to ask for drinks like in 2 minutes. It is just not enough time to properly look on menu. Food come in average time very hot but not very tasty. The pasta in my lasagne and in my partner arrabbiatta wasn't fresh at all. Taste pre made and overcooked. No white sauce in my lasagne either. Didnt enjoyed our food at all. All to come with half pint of beer and glass of house wine to around £43. Not very pricey but quality is not there.
