Fantastic place . Dropped in and went for the buffet option me the partner and 5 year old daughter had plenty to choose from . Very good value for money . Will definitely be back when we visit again . Staff very friendly

I went for a buffet with my wife and two children (under 8). Plenty of food, kids enjoyed it. Kid's buffet was £22 for two. My wife and I were £44. The price was steep for the quality of the buffet. Puddings were very tasty. We would have left a tip, but we were £77 altogether, and we couldn't justify spending anymore money.

The buffet lunch was much enjoyed by me and two grand-rascals. It was a good lesson in self restraint but all three of us exercised sufficient restraint to avoid the eye being greedier than the stomach but left very well satisfied.

My family and I visited the restaurant after a long drive from Aberdeen and on entry, the manager says in a rather harsh manner, how can I help? Then they put my family and I in a secluded area where no one else sat and they had to turn on the lights in the area because apparently that area doesn’t get used. To worsen it, the waitress asks my daughter: you surely cannot finish those brownies. All of this perhaps because we are people of COLOUR! If you are just like me, I would stay away or be weary…Food is great…

This is always a family favourite when we visit Aviemore. We love the buffet which is really good value. Lots of salads, pasta dishes, pizza and deserts.

Buffet wasn’t good. Food was very bland and I wouldn’t go back.

Sensational food, it was so good we ended up going twice! We had the carbonara, pizza, bruchetta, muscles and arancini all was amazing!! Thank you for a wonderful experience if we are ever in the area we will be sure to visit! And visitors don't leave with out stepping in!

Excellent menu for all ages, excellent food and drink. Atmosphere was great, the only issue was a slight problem with the service but the problem was rectified promptly. Highly recommend and would visit again.

Reasonable menu though the penne with salmon did not rise up stream very highly for my taste.

Visited early evening, seemed to be quite a few single men dining ( possibly contract workers away from home weekdays) . Atmosphere very quiet, can't speak about late evening.

Some of the nicest people ever (and funny), with also very delicious food. Some of the greatest restaurant atmosphere ever. Couldn't recommend more and definitely is a regular spot.

This is our fave place every time we visit Aviemore. We're always so well looked over. I love how they merge authentic Italian ingredients into daily food. There's a huge choice on the menu and great for the kids too. After a cold day in the mountains, the food is perfect for refuelling. Looking forward to the next visit 👍

We have dined here for many times over the last fifteen years whilst on holiday in the area. We were disappointed after booking to see that there was no buffet or salad bar. However we still went. Sadly the previously vibrant Italian atmosphere has gone but the waitresses tried hard with their pleasant polite service. The menu is very limited, garlic bread is three slices of french stick and sadly the mussels were very gritty, but to their credit they did refund off the bill. Sadly won't be returning ....

Really enjoyed the a la carte menu. A big improvement on the buffet meal we had last Autumn. The pizza was good and the desserts delicious.

What a fabulous place! From the moment we arrived we recieved a very warm and friendly welcome, the staff are fantastic, we were very well looked after. Food amazing, service outstanding. Would highly recommend.

Very nice atmosphere, relaxed and unhurried, the staff on duty were lovely, very attentive and friendly. Meal was very pleasant, good portion size and when my husband couldn’t eat all his main because of the gigantic bowl of minestrone soup he had as a starter they offered to box up the leftovers.

My husband and I came here to celebrate my birthday and it was truly a delight. The food was delicious! Bruschetta to start and I had a wonderful macaroni cheese and he had the spicy penne. Couldn’t fault anything. So flavoursome. Macaroni can be a bit watery in some places but this was just right - a nice, thick, tasty cheese sauce. The ambiance was great. Busy for a mid week in January but the staff were so attentive. They never stopped! If we’re ever in the area again, this will be our first stop. Highly recommend

Good food for a good price, very decent portions.

We have eaten here a good number of times, and we make a point of going every new year after New years day. We were surprised that it was only a buffet this year and I'm afraid to say it was terrible. Pasta was mushy and overcooked, sauces had no flavour and the meatballs were small and tasted like they were out of a can. Pizza was basic and not very tasty. Deserts were dried out, I think because they had been sitting so long.. I'll think hard before eating there again. I realise that times are tough, but I don't mind paying for a decent meal, but £20 a head for this bad quality is a bit galling.

Been to this restaurant multiple times. Visited yesterday and I got the usual great friendly service. Not a huge menu but well priced and tasty food.

We visited La Taverna twice during our 4 night stay in Aviemore with our two young kids. Our daughter has coeliac disease so we hit the internet to find out who could cater for her and La Taverna came highly recommended with GF pastas and pizzas - her favourites! We were not disappointed, there was a much bigger selection for her to choose from than we are used to seeing. We all thoroughly enjoyed our pizzas - the rustica is delicious! The vibe was perfect for taking young kids out to dinner, we were made to feel very welcome with no worries about the kids being kids. The waiting staff were really helpful, knowledgable and friendly - my daughter absolutely loved the lady with the pink hair who did a great job of looking after our table on both of our visits. Cannot recommend this place enough if you are visiting Aviemore with kids.

Surprised to find it was a help yourself buffet. Very basic choice of pasta, a few pizzas to choose from. Food was ok, nothing more. But at least it was open on New year's Day. Couldn't fault the friendly staff.

Oh dear! This used to be such a fun experience but the whole scene has changed. The quality of food is terrible - nothing close to an Italian restuarant experience. I know food is expensive but the whole thing felt low budget. It seems like the La Taverna has lost its love of food.

Very welcoming from the get go. As soon as I mentioned I was gluten free, they were absolutely on it - pizzas, pasta even desserts. Salad bar is shared with all customers but they offered to make me my own plate up fresh. Main chef even double checked I got told about chocolate and carrot cake for dessert! Felt very looked after and that's rare as a celiac.

Love this place, been here a few times now. It’s such a relaxing and cosy authentic atmosphere, the staff are always really friendly and inviting and the food is amazing at a reasonable price. This is definitely worth a meal if you are in Aviemore. It’s family friendly and very inviting.

We had a beautiful meal yesterday with our 2 girls: food was fabulous, so tasty even the kids finished it! Service was fab and overall really welcoming especially to a toddler running around! Definitely be back! One of the best carbonaras I’ve had.

My experience was fantastic from the moment I walked through the door! I was greeted straight away by Ashtyn (apologies if I butchered your name), even got a few hello’s from the ladies behind the bar which was lovely. Ashtyn was very knowledgeable of the menu, even recommending that I went for the brownie for dessert (which was definitely the correct choice) and even swapped out the clotted cream for ice cream, which I appreciated. It’s always nice to have a meal without feeling like you’re being rushed, which I definitely didn’t feel here. I may have even had my table for longer than I should have, but I was perfectly looked after. I could have stayed longer, quite honestly. I’m just glad I found this place, as it stands out from all the other restaurants in Aviemore. The ‘Nduja Penne Picante was to die for and I could have that sauce on literally anything. The house rosé was lush, which was great as it can sometimes be a hit or miss. A couple of other ladies that served me throughout my meal were Linda and Mo, who were also fabulous! I will definitely return next time I am up in Aviemore, as I truly loved the experience. Left with a full stomach and a smile on my face. Keep up the good work ladies!

Sad initially that buffet now only a summer option, but quality of meal dispelled any concern. All of us in a group of 14 very happy with service and menu choices. I would say my pizza one of the best I have had for some time. My wife thought taste of salmon penne quite excellent, but from her catering experience said for it to be truly excellent the dish needed more sauce

Being both DF & GF, my expectations aren't high when walking into a pizza place. I usually end up eating a salad without dressing. Not so here!! I had to stop after a few bites to ensure I didn't get my kids pizza by mistake. It was *that good!* (And I also ate the entire thing. Alone.) It really was that good. And the kids loved their (regular) pizzas as well. On our holiday, I may just have to find an excuse to come back. That may not be very hard.

Absolutely amazing! We had the pate, the salmon pasta and a choose your topping pizza. The food was absolutely outstanding, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back when we are next in aviemore! Thank you for looking after us so well, and my son was delighted at the praise for demolishing his adult pizza 😊

Kan er kort zijn, eet hier alleen als je niks anders hebt. Zondagavond wordt een all you can eat buffet aangeboden voor £20 per persoon. Dit buffet bestaat uit goedkope, waarschijnlijk van de groothandel, gerechten. - Mac and cheese: kaas niet gesmolten, - Tomaten voor bij de salade: met zwarte kroontjes, - pizza: opzich niet slecht echter wel mager belegt. Enige vlees wat werd gebruikt was salami, - allergieën : is naar gevraagd ! - hygiëne: zit wel goed alles zag er schoon uit. - dranken : 1 pint bier koste £4,50 en was prima Kort samengevat als je de zogenoemde "vreetschuur" zoekt dat heeft u hem gevonden. Echter na mijn mening wel te duur. Ps wij lazen achteraf de Google sterren classificatie en snapten niet de 4.3 echter is er schijnbaar een nieuwe eigenaar in de zaak gekomen. Verklaart een boel.

Hier toevallig beland op doorreis. Laat in ons hotel aangekomen, bleek hier het restaurant gesloten. Tegenover het hotel zat dit all you can eat restaurant. We hadden honger en stelden niet veel eisen... Het was er van buitenaf te zien enorm druk, iets wat altijd wat goeds belooft. De sfeer leek ook goed toen we binnen kwamen. Dat was ook daadwerkelijk alles wat positief en oke was (oke en de getapte biertjes) Het eten is gewoonweg smerig. Al is alles hygiënisch en schoon in het restaurant zelf; wees gerust. Een voedselvergiftiging zal je er vast niet halen. Op mijn oude middelbare school was de soep van de conciërge nog beter. Al bracht het buffet mij (en ook ieder ander met een middelbare schoolcarrière) meteen terug naar die tijd. Ik durf daarnaast te beweren dat ik mijn eten van de groothandel of de supermarkt beter weet te ontdooien (en er nog meer van weet te maken) dan wat het restaurant hier bijvoorbeeld aan aanbod toetjes had . Ik durfde het niet aan maar mijn vriend heeft toch nog een hapje zelfontdooide aarbeien cheesecake gehad. Er is niets zelfgemaakt. Wel is er zelf ontdooit, zelf belegd en zelf uit bakken of zakken gehaald... Mocht je dus een andere optie hebben zou ik die zeker overwegen. Al is dat een meegebracht boterham.

Expensive buffet which was look warm and not very nice. No chips on buffet and had to pay extra to have these for the kids. Poor attitude from staff member who looked to be in charge. Won't be back

Pésimo, creo que es el peor sitio en el que he comido. Buffet libre de calidad malísima, por 20 libras aparte la bebida se puede servir más calidad. La pasta totalmente pasada, seguro que se hizo a la hora de la comida y sobró, pues nada, para la cena. No se lo recomiendo a nadie.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Buffet was delicious with many choices. Al a carte starts up again in November. Looking forward to trying that. Staff were/are wonderful. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful, especially me being a foreigner and not knowing how things worked there. 👍👍 Try it. You WILL love it.

Bought a takeaway on our last night in aviemore . Pizza was beautifully thin and crispy, authenic italian pizza. Mac and cheese was the best ive had wasnt plain cheddar there was a hint of different cheese but very good, its a must try. Had to buy sides of mozzerella sticks and chips both crispy well cooked. Picked our time slot and only had 1 min wait staff were very pleasant, atmosphere was very welcoming.

Not worth a £20 per person; the food tastes like it has been brought from Tesco, some of it cold. The cake, dessert and ice cream section was terrible. The price is a joke for what you get. It would be worth £6.99 max. I will not be back.

Exceptional value for money excellent food buffet well stocked staff friendly and helpfull

This place was too dark and the food is just okay, definitely not anything special and I won't be rushing back. The service is good however, although it was a buffet, which in hindsight is never a good idea. Shame, because they could make a killing now especially as Cheese and Tomatin down the road has gone seriously downhill.

Used to have great food and service. Now only buffet. Employees in restaurant and over phone are miserable. Used to have great employees and atmosphere which made you feel welcomed. Now makes you feel unwelcome and inconvenient.

This has to be the best best Italian we have been to and we've been to a lot. The food was absolutely amazing everything was perfect .

We had a lovely family meal here and the staff were very alert and friendly Update 14.10.23 This place is described as 'Italian buffet' now 4 pastas,1 with meat,1 watery macaroni and 2 edible Pizzas although better than the pasta were terrible,in no way authentic Italian found here before,cheap ingredients and poor bases,you would honestly get better in Aldi freezers Think school dinners but worse Avoid at all costs absolutely terrible food which is a shame as we used to love it here

Having been forced onto an uncomfortable table because of pre bookings, there were many vacant tables for the duration of my experience. Food was buffet only. Pizza was poor quality. Like a cheep frozen pizza from Iceland. Although there was a selection of low quality pizza to choose from. The rest was fairly basic : sauce pasta , dry salads and rices. The dessert was good hence boosting the rating to 2*

2nd time here. Preferred it with menu and table service. This time was a buffet, and most items were only 'warm' at best.

A terrible restaurant. The food was school meal standard. £7 a pint. Do yourself a favour and go to ALDI for frozen pizza and pasta.

Food was rotten. As Italian as a deep fried mars bar. £20 for an all you can eat buffet seems reasonable until you see the state of it. Anyone giving a good review clearly can’t cook themselves. Better off with a frozen pizza from Aldi. Pastas were overcooked and sauces were basic. Would rather commit a crime to get prison food. Embarrassing to call themselves an Italian restaurant.

We were slightly wary about the buffet but could not fault any of it. The salads were fresh, the pasta sauces tasty, the pizzas were light and crispy and a great selection of desserts. Maybe a wee candle on the table would have been a nice touch.

Site is a bit jaded . Seasonal caravans taking up many of the pitches . Close to A9 so traffic noise constant. £20 for a buffet at the restaurant rather pricey.

We visited early evening so it was fairly empty and quiet. The only option was the buffet but think Pizza Hut buffet only better. The salad bar was excellent and completely filled my plate with different things like couscous and a lovely beetroot salad. The pizzas were straight forward but ever so tasty, I didn't have any pasta but my good lady lived it. All rounded off with a great selection of desserts. The staff were very welcoming, polite and efficient, always with a smile.

Absolutely brilliant! Very busy place, so foods turned over quickly and fresh. Pizzas are some of the best I've had in Scotland. Fantastic value buffet at £20 each. Staff very attentive and pleasant - never waited when more drinks were required.

We didn’t realise that we could only have the buffet until we arrived. The pizza was horrible. The pasta was edible. The salads were ok. The desserts were dry. £20 each plus drinks and finished in less than an hour. This restaurant used to be so good. I understand that they are only doing a buffet as they can’t get enough staff. However, the food should still be good. A lot of money for a disappointing evening in these hard times.

Been coming here a few years but won't be back. Waitress was cheery and welcoming but... Food was barely warm, when we informed staff about this we were told "there will be more coming soon ". Surely food should be kept hot ? Weren't offered anymore drinks until time to leave. Not a nice experience.

Amazing service and staff, super attentive to allergies/needs. Cater GF and VG and V in the buffet all thr way to desserts. Quality is as expected for a buffet, tasty enough and good selection. Thank you very much for the lunch!

I didn’t realise that it was a “eat all you want” for £20 when I booked a table. I was told about this when we arrived. It was horrible. Cheap ingredients for the pasta. Pizza were ok at best. Puddings were cheap, dry and tasteless. I gave the restaurant one star because the staff were pleasant.

We dined there yesterday afternoon. So disappointed with th quality of the food. Desserts were of a better quality than the rest of our meal. Pizza was no better than the cheap frozen you can pick up in any low end supermarket. Pasta dishes were awful.

Richt fine supper. Shame nae lamb. Was up sellin Tups and for twenty pound even got a dessert. Affa fine.

WOW- i really wish i had seen the reviews, £20pp for buffet, horrendous pizzas with very poor toppings, i had two very small slices and the cold crap was enough, went for the past dishes, absolutely horrendous,cold and i refused to eat, tried the salad as i thought that they couldnt mess that up, but holly hell it was horrendous too, ok so ill eat £20 of pudding, nah think again it was the cheapest crap bought from a store sliced and served, £40 + £7.50 for colas. an expensive lesson, DO NOT VISIT. Italian as much as cullen skink is french. poor staff must be so embarrassed.
