La Ranchera continues to delight, it’s an authentic Mexican dining experience, casual and good value with great food and service. Don’t be deceived by the underwhelming location, it’s a hidden gem. And a Tequila list to die for…..probably would if you tried them all!

Absolutely perfect evening, we cant on the 14/10/23. From start to finish the service was amazing, food was INCREDIBLE and the atmosphere was just the best. I honestly cant recommend this restaurant more! The waitresses were very attentive, knew all the dishes and even helped out some of my family who couldnt do spice. All the food is made to order, so its super fresh also! I will DEFINITELY be coming back with my family

Love La Ranchera! We have visited once before and were keen to visit on this trip to Devon. As big fans of Mexican food and always surprised at how few Mexican restaurants there are in the UK, we give La Ranchera 10/10! Amazing homecooked food, a super menu, and excellent warm service, I expect we will make a booking here on every visit. Special shout out for the hot sauce which my husband describes as 'not just sufficiently hot, but also with a fantastic flavour which is quite rare in hot sauces!' A very lovely and authentic family-run Mexican restaurant :)

Such a great place, and everyone loved their food. We all said it was the best meal of the holiday. The lady serving was lovely and made us all feel welcome, even our crazy toddler.

Fabulous food, great service, and authentic tasty Mexican

First time visit, we’d heard good things about La Ranchera since moving to K’bridge, but not being impressed with ‘chain’ Mexican restaurants in UK hadn’t made visiting a priority. But we were delighted with La Ranchera ….who would expect an authentic neighborhood Mexican in Kingsbridge! Just like places I used to frequent when lived in US. Lucky! Great cooking, quality ingredients, flexible on the heat, attractive space (with good, friendly service) and very interesting Mexican sourced drinks list from beers through Tequilas. We liked it so been twice in a few days, both visits excellent.

I am visiting the UK from the states, I reside in Arizona land of Mexican cuisine lol. I am staying in Kingsbridge and have been wanting Mexican food, so I googled and found this gem! It was absolutely lovely! Definitely satisfied my craving. Chef was very kind as some dishes were prepared a lil different than back home so she explained how it was made but what a flavor explosion! So, coming from an area where there are many choices of this fabulous cuisine, LA Ranchera does not disappoint and I would highly recommend, I know I will be going back😊

Lovely, small and cosy environment with an energy that captures Mexico. The staff were absolutely wonderful and a special shout-out to the chef who seemed to work solo preparing the meals. We were able to enjoy our meal without being rushed through. If you’re looking to try some truly authentic Mexican food then here is the place.

This is by far our favourite restaurant in kingsbridge from Abi and Milka at the front of house to Betty who is the owner and cook. The food is simply outstanding and cooked fresh right in front of you there are 4 choices of spice for all dishes Extra hot,hot,medium and mild start at your lower limit and move up a notch on your return trip.We moved to kingsbidge in February and have tried nearly all the restaurants in kingsbridge like indian chinese and Turkish and La rancera blows them all out of the water on price and quality of service and food and if this is easily Kingsbridge hidden jewel and if it was in the town centre you would never be able to get a table. This place is such a hidden gem that deserves more recognition - we visited here while on holiday and had the most amazing dinner. Everything we tried was just fab and so authentic and really fresh. The tequila list was massive and the margaritas were the best I’ve ever had. A lovely little spot with great staff and amazing food that I would highly recommend!

A brilliant chef/ owner cooking in public view and simultaneously managing staff. Up beat meet and greet. Great enthusiasm from Abbi front of house. She engaged and laughed with children and adults. If you are in the South Hams area make a point of going to La Ranchera in Kings bridge. A small restaurant serving authentic Mexican food which is freshly and expertly prepared by the owner. We had some lovely cocktails to start, shared home made nachos and then had chicken fajitas, which you can have prepared to varying degrees of heat! All excellent. The food on neighbouring tables looked just as good. If you want delicious fresh food this is the place to come! The service was also brilliant. Well done all.

What a gem of a place. The ladies in there are so lovely. The food is prepared and cooked infront of you with local fresh produce.the chilli beef melted in your mouth and all the flavours were incredible. Can not rate this this place highly enough. Our first visit, and certainly won't be our last. A meal for my Birthday but unfortunately two members of the family took ill last minute. Such a warm, friendly and welcoming place, immediately felt relaxed and in good company. The food was simply the best Mexican food we have ever had. And those that couldn't make it, had what they would have ordered packaged and ready to take home when we had finished. They didn't start preparing it until they could see we were almost finished. So they had it hot when we got home. I really can not wait to be able to visit again! Gracias!

This is the best restaurant in kingsbridge. Recommend this place for family’s and couples. The service was good and the food was outstanding. My favourite food there was the burrito. They have a range of gluten free and veggie/vegan foods.

it was ok the lady serving us was lovely it looked lovely chips were alright my dad's food was good enough my mum's food was fairly bad it was quite bland it was basically just grated cheese on tortillas with tomato's and whatnot, there should have been more options suitable for children even a sandwich would have been good for children. and it was fairly over priced

Not TexMex, more authentic Mexican but could do better

We visited here as a family of 5, 2 of which have coeliac disease. I mentioned when booking and was informed most of the menu is gluten free. Corn tortillas are used, as is often the case in Mexico so they meals are ‘naturally’ gluten free. We ordered a variety of dishes and all were superb. It is the first time our daughters have eaten authentic Mexican cuisine and they all loved it. It was great for our 12 year old to be able to eat food of the same quality as others despite being a coeliac. Overall, a wonderful meal whether avoiding gluten or not. First class local restaurant and we will definitely return if ever back in the area.

This is an absolute gem, freshly prepared delicious food and an all round Mexican experience with the owner and cook "Betty". We had Nachos and Fajitas which were excellent, but will definately return and try something else !

Visited tonight. The host was fantastic and very friendly and the food was good. I do have a problem with vegan food being priced the same as meat products. We had the vegan quesadilla and it was £18, for basically fried onions and peppers in a tortilla wrap. This is exactly the same price for the chicken option, which for me is out of order - it should be £10 max. This is a busy restaurant but it is extremely overpriced. Like I said, the food was good but I’ve definitely had better.

We booked this via Facebook as we were visiting the area for a holiday and it was my youngest son's birthday midweek. We mentioned this in our Facebook message and the reply was "we will give him a Mexican evening to remember".They certainly lived up to this. On arrival we were shown to a table decked out with balloons, party confetti and a "clothes line" with the message "Feliz Cumpleanos" (Happy Birthday) pegged to it! The service throughout was as warm as the welcome.The menu had plenty to tempt us and the meals were cooked completely from fresh in the kitchen area which is in full view of the restaurant. All four main courses were fantastic but two of them were presented in bowls made of lava! My eldest son had chosen the "Toro en Llamas" which is served with a flaming tequila sauce!My wife eats vegetarian when we are out and the dish she chose was in her words "the freshest vegetarian meal I have ever had".At the end of the meal the waitress dressed my son in a poncho and sombrero and brought him a tequila with salt and lime as a present. He summed up the evening with the statement "that was the best meal I have ever had!" A lovely place with lovely staff.

Great service and delicious food!

We called in on the off chance on an early Friday evening, as spotted this place earlier in the day! So glad we took did as was fab. We hadn’t booked (there’s a tip for you) but they squeezed us in and so glad they did. Food was very good, service was friendly and efficient. Chef clearly was taking pride in her cooking! Would visit again if in the area and definitely recommend.

Relied on other peoples reviews and wasn't disappointed. Good quality with excellent portions. Have come back to the same restaurant multiple times now.
