This is definitely one of the best meals out I have had in a while. I feel it a waste of time to wax lyrical about how wonderful it was as it has now closed down. The cafe is an ongoing interest in another venue, but sadly the evening part is lost.

Thoroughly enjoyed/impressed with the Chateaubriand on two occasions - but not at all impressed with a 'theme night' and entertainment by man with guitar doing pop covers (we left early)

We always enjoyed the lunch menu and the exceptional quality of coffee. This time we spent an evening at the LPG. LPG is without a doubt THE only place to eat quality and tasty food in Kidderminster.

The place has a rustic style to it with an eclectic mix of furniture and has a cafe feel rather than that of a restaurant but that is part of its charm! The service was really good , the food is a winner. My wife has dietary issues which were not only accommodated but also she was served some of the best food of anywhere we have eaten. What comes across is that top quality ingredients linked to top quality cooking & service will always be a recipe for success . We would recommend it and will return now we've found this little gem!

Myself and my husband have visited LPG several times over the last couple of years. We were sad to discover it doesn’t open every Friday and Saturday night any more, but there are good reasons for that. I believe they are currently opening one weekend a month - highly recommend calling and asking when it is so you can visit for an evening meal. The chateaubriand steak is out of this world, the tenderest steak we’ve ever found. I’ve never had a bad meal here, all has been delicious! The cocktails are lovely too! Definitely will be continuing to visit in 2019. Need to pop in and try lunch, have heard very good things about it. X

Found this bistro through Trip Advisor and it was great. Nice ambiance, friendly staff and a menu that made it hard to chose, so many nice options. I had a flat bread with king prawns, spicy sauce, roasted red peppers, avocado & yogurt & mint dressing with salad and chips. It was awesome. I haven't had such a nice lunch for a long time. OH had a club sandwich and it was huge and delicious. Lovely cup of tea too. Reasonably priced and a great find. I will be going again. Thanks Le Petit Gare.

From the friendly welcome to prompt service to delicious food, La Petite Gare more than lived up to its growing reputation. I can recommend the cajun prawn and avocado flatbread but make sure you order the sweet potato wedges on the side. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but the search for a space pays dividends.

This is a restaurant that does not routinely open in the evenings and doesn’t have a website so we were a bit concerned about trying to book a meal. Even more so since we wanted to eat dinner. We need not have worried! They opened specially for us (party of 10) and we had a really great meal. Run by a husband and wife team who really looked after us. They do open on some evenings and it’s well worth looking out for these if you want dinner. Otherwise try them during the day. You won’t be disappointed.

Visited here on a Saturday evening booked a month in advance nice cosy place with friendly staff all though they did seem a little rushed, it was busy so probably a little understandable. The disappointing thing for us was the food everything was cooked ok (steak how I asked for it) but little things like the salmon stater I had came on two slices of baguette bit strange could have at least toasted the bread perhaps. My steak was a little tough and the peppercorn sauce was extremely thin and tasteless, dauphinois were very nice though. My wife had the sausage and mash she was very disappointed with this completely, not much taste in the sausages and potatoes were bland. Citron tart at the end was very nice and we both enjoyed it.

Having lived near Kidderminster all my life it is great to see little restaurants like this opening up and offering some quality dining in the area. I booked 3 days in advance for a Friday 7.00pm table for two. It has a very small shop frontage so could easily be missed. I'd advise parking on the car park just after the left turning for the train station (if coming down comberton hill). We were greeted at the door and shown to our table out the back, the restaurant has a very quirky design and layout which certainly sets it apart from the bland chain restaurants. We ordered our drinks which arrived quickly and then decided to share a Gnocchi starter which was excellent. Our main courses soon followed (Sweet Potato Shepherds Pie and Cod Loin) and were of a similar high standard and in particular the shepherds pie a large portion. We then valiantly confronted the dessert menu and ordered a Crème Brulee and a lemon cheesecake sundae, again tasty and well presented. By the end of the meal I could hardly walk as I was that full. The meal along with an alcoholic drink and soft drink came to just over £60.00, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for and this was a most pleasing experience. We will most definitely return.

Having never been to Kidderminster before I trusted the 5/5 TripAdvisor reviews to find somewhere good to eat! On arrival I was unsure if the rave reviews were going to be justified, as the location of this restaurant on the main road, opposite industrial parks is not very inspiring to say the least! However once inside it's clear why this place gets such great reviews. Friendly greeting, cosy and homely feel, quirky downstairs seating and delicious pastries lined up behind the counter. We were a group of 4 hungry adults and opted to sit downstairs; mainly because the upstairs looked full. The menu is neither too large nor too limited, for there to be a good selection of options for them to do the dishes justice. Far too many times there is a lengthy menu and there are only a handful of dishes that a restaurant truly cooks well. We all ordered different dishes and all of them arrived promptly, cooked well and with lovely fresh sides. My husband and father both ordered slightly different versions of the steak baguette and I must admit I thought they had made a bad choice, thinking there would be a small, grisly piece of overcooked steak spread thinly to fill the baguette. How wrong could I be. Beautiful fresh French baguette (I actually think it could have been pain de campagne sour dough) and plenty of juicy, medium rare steak as you can see from the photos. My jacket potato with chicken and avocado was equally well filled with lovely soft avocado and roast chicken. Since I was getting married the next day I decided to wash mine down with a tasty glass of Sauvignon blanc. Simply delicious.Although we were full, you can't visit a French cafe without sampling the desserts. As we couldn't decide which to have the waitress suggested we have a sharing platter so we got to try 3 of the desserts between the 4 of us. She also recommended that two of them should be warmed up to enjoy them at their finest. Wow! Amazing service, delicious food and reasonable prices. This place is well worth the visit. If we were locals we would become regulars!

However, the woman who served us was so lovely that I'm sure if you're particular about your coffee she'd do her best to meet your requirements.I did plan to go back for lunch on the Saturday – there's a great choice of veggie and vegan food and everything on the menu looked delicious – but disappointingly it was closed. Well what can I say, from start to finish the whole visit to La Petitie Gare was fabulous. The staff were happy and helpful but still not too in your face, and the food was very very good. I will definitely go back.

Arrived rather late for breakfast, but that was not a hurdle for this establishment. Service was cheerful friendly and fast. My large breakfast was certainly worth the price and perfectly prepared and presented. The atmosphere, decor and style was most pleasing, whilst the attention to detail in the food and service was thorough. I returned the following day with a friend whereupon the same high standards were evident. This is how it should be done.If this sounds a bit formal, rest assured I had a very nice time at La P.G. and will award it my yippee medal with extra candy floss with sparkly bits.....

Having recently moved to the area this was our first visit. Lovely staff, a bistro a bit cramped downstairs, my wife and I ordered the chateaubriand steak for two with pepper sauce, dauphinoise potatoes and a side dish of green beans with Parmesan.Lovely steak, and unusually for us, as the portions were generous, we ate up every scrap.Puddings of crime brûlée for me and a coffee based lacquer dessert for my wife.Lovely meal for two with 500ml carafe of red wine, total cost £72.Good value for the good quality.Likely to become a regular venue for us.

All of the food we ordered was very well presented and plentiful- the portions are very generous. Heard lots of good reports about La Petite Gare and visited with a group of six for the first time last night.Fabulously quirky little place that felt both informal but utterly competent at the same time. Good selection of gins to choose from and some interesting beers. Service was very good and the host (owner) was very happy to share with us the origins of the restaurant which was really good to hear.Food was excellent. I would really recommend the gnocchi starter (delicious) and my fellow guests thoroughly enjoyed the flatbread starter. The steaks - fillet, sirloin and Chateaubriand - were superb! Would really like to have sampled the desserts but were simply too full of delicious food so that will have to wait for next time. Already booked our next visit so very much looking forward to that. Would highly recommend but you do need to book for dinner a good couple of weeks in advance.

The food here is amazing! They select a small sample of dishes for the menu and put their all into it... Been here 3 times and every time I have been blown over with both the service and the food. I have the most pickiest italian friend who really knows her food and wine and she gave this place the thumbs up too!Book well in advance though.

Went here for lunch today for my cousin's birthday and all I can say is.. WOW!The menu has so much choice and you get so much for your money. The panini was without the doubt THE most tastiest sandwich I have ever eaten and so worth the £4.50 price tag. I had the BBQ Chicken, bacon and roasted tomato in mine. The cakes look and taste incredible, we tried the rocky road - it was worth every single calorie! Cannot wait to go try out the dinner menu! The decor inside is beautiful - the whole cafe has such a lovely feel to it and the downstairs area is so cosy.Definitely recommend!!

We had a lovely night in this small place. We were seated downstairs, quite quirky but plenty of atmosphere. The menu is small but that's always a good sign. The food was very good, wine lovely and the service friendly and efficient. The table was ours for the night so we weren't rushed. Well definitely be back.

I recently moved to Kidderminster and just happened to pop into this restaurant one day for breakfast, since then I have eaten breakfast here numerous times, ranging from the full English to the salmon and poached eggs, all very nice.I decided to try out the lunch the other day and it was absolutely incredible. We ordered everything off the specials menu, my Nan had the sirloin which was probably one of the best sirloins I have tasted in a while. I had the gnocchi and the chicken. I ordered 2 mains because they both looked so good I couldn't make my mind up so had both :) All the food was incredible, the service is superb and I like that women run the kitchen and manage the restaurant, they have definitely got this place spot on. Very cosy too. I'll 100% be eating here a lot.

This is the second time I have been to Le Petite Gare, the first was time was for coffee while I waited for a train but last week a friend and I had a delicious lunch. The homemade soup was delicious, portions are generous and the food is good quality. Prices are very reasonable and the service is friendly.I will definately eat here again., it was very enjoyable. The reason I did not mark Le Petite Gare as excellent was becuase our seats were not very comfortable, we had a corner table by the garden door and the seats could do with thicker cushions to sit on. Also we could see into the untidy store/kitchen area, which really needs to be tidied up.Finally a woman with three children all under five was at the next table, the children were loud but luckily they had almost finished, a crying baby is not a pleasant experience especially in a restaurant. Parents seem oblivious to their children or the effect that their childrens moaning and crying have on others.I will definately eat here again as the quality of food outweighed the cushions and the other diners.
