La Mezzaluna in Carlisle

We were in Carlisle and just called in for lunch, so glad we did too, a little gem of a place, food was really good, cooked to order, but worth the wait, very reasonably priced too, will definitely go back when in the city 😀.

A gem of a restaurant. Lovely, comfortable surroundings with a friendly, polite and lovely staff. Nice little touches, for example fresh roses on the tables, great music. Dog-friendly for dogs that don't bark in the restaurant. We had one starter, four pizzas and teo large glasses of wine. The pizzas were delicious. Reasonably prized. What a wonderful place to while away the afternoon. So relaxing. Definitely worth a visit!

Terrible food. Pizza not base frozen or bought.salmon small overdone, prawn starter and salmon same sauce prawns underdone Chips wow they were nice . Salad not dressed or seasoned Pathetic

Finding such a good Italian restaurant so far north was a surprise. The starter and the risotto were super tasty. The service was also very good.

Been here twice now and will be back. First time was December for their set Christmas menu, it was lovely. Been back today with 6 others everyone commented how nice our food was and that there was a good variety to choose from. I'd totally recommend trying here if you want tasty food. 3 courses and a drink cost me less than £30. I'd pay that every day for the quality.

La Mezzaluna never fails to impress. The food, service, the ambiance & the toilets ! The fact we ate here 3 times in one week recently speaks volumes. The produce is of an extremely high standard & the fillet steak could be cut with a teaspoon it is so tender. The lasagne is the best I’ve ever had. We have never had any dish & been disappointed. The staff are truly fabulous & so welcoming. Thank you Jane, Rachael, Rachael’s daughter, Cozmina, Elena for your continued high standards & the very talented chefs for producing such wonderful food. We had our table booked for over a week with friends we hadn’t seen for along time. On arrival we gave our name and were told our table was upstairs. When arriving to our table we were in a room with a children’s party of around 20 kids. We could not hear ourselves speak. We asked the waitress to be moved but she said there was no room. It was an absolute nighmare . The food was ok but our steaks were not cooked to our liking. But we were that fed up of being in there we just payed and went. I think we should have been told on arrival that we would be with a kids party then we could have had the option to go somewhere else.

Booked to go on a thirsday evening, first time going. Was not disappointed, food was great I had the lasagna and a garlic pizza to start. Garlic pizza was amazing. Would highly recommend, will definitely be back.

Had a great meal certainly one of the best Italians in Carlisle. Starters were all good. No spare ribs though. Mains were great best lasagne I have had in years. My wife's pasta wasnt a massive portion but was extremely nice and filling. Prices were pretty reasonable as well as an added bonus

We got to La Mezzaluna without booking on Friday night after few minutes they had a table for us tree. Meal, service, atmosphere every thing was perfect. Next time we come to Carlisle we will come back and try other dishes. Thank you for that lovely experience.

We love La Mezzaluna, everything about the place. Always a lovely warm welcome from the fabulous friendly staff, the surroundings, the beautiful toilets & most of all the amazing food! We had the festive menu (menu di natale) which was absolutely outstanding - well worthy of a Michelin Star in my opinion - hope to be back to try it again soon. Every course was cooked to perfection, washed down with a bottle of Prosecco & finished off with a couple of (now customary) Sambucas. Thank you all so much once again.

food was amazing but we were told the drinks would be 4 for £7 but in the end got charged £7 each!!! unexpected £30 charge to the bill!!! bit misleading and disappointed

It was my first visit with friends on a Saturday evening. We made reservations as it's a small venue. The food was fabulous and filling, meaning there was no room for dessert. I opted for the TORTELLONI BOLOGNESE "Pockets of fresh pasta packed with a savoury meat filling accompanied with bolognese sauce." The facilities were very good and clean. There are steps up to the seating area, and the restrooms are located beyond and to the rear of the venue. There's outdoor seating available for the adventurous alfresco eaters.

This is 5 stars based on value 4 stars based on food an experience. The food is good. V good but lacks that extra wow factor ie vegetables on the side.... make them into crisps, fry them , roast them... they just put them on a separate plate Don't get me wrong they were cooked well. Just no wow factor. This is like top of the range Italian pub food and not fine dining. On the up side 2 starts including prawns, 2 mains, 4 soft drinks was £50 so stunning value

We were looking for lunch after a visit to the castle and came across this place. Nicely decorated inside, large choice on the menu. Opted for a pizza which was tasty . Staff friendly All in all a great find.

Please do not go by this place.went with my wife for dinner last night.was very quiet when we went in but I'm glad of the time we went as the place was full when we left.the food the service and the atmosphere was top class.must be one of the best places in Carlisle to eat and very reasonably priced.and an added bonus was how spotless the toilets were.first class with everything and next time we're here we will be back.

I had a straightforward Veg and Rice risotto, which was quite simply delicious. It was early evening, and fairly quiet. As a singleton in Carlisle on business, this suited me. I don't usually tip much, but on this occasion the meal was just over a tenner and I left five quid. Next time I'm in the city, I shall definitely return.

Food was absolutely wonderful and service was fast, efficient and very friendly. Only fault would be perhaps service was a little too fast and hectic. We were seated, and had 2 courses, paid and left within 45 minutes. Felt a bit like we were being rushed, but perhaps it was just the super speedy chefs at work in the back 😅 We must've been asked by 3 different waitresses what we would like to order after asking the first for 5 extra minutes to decide; but cannot fault the attentiveness of the staff. You needed something and they were there in seconds! It would've been nice to have had a little more time between our starter and main to sit and chat, and let everything go down first. We ended up boxing half our mains to go as we couldn't finish it all.

A quaint Italian restaurant , we stumbled on with lots of ambience and style . From a warm welcome to the most amazing staff, our evening flowed . The food was 5 *, service was superb . Prices reasonable and our meal was worth every penny . The menu you were spoilt for choice so much variety . I would highly recommend this restaurant you will not be disappointed. The manageress was very friendly and efficient and ran a very top notch restaurant . Faultless 10/10

Terrific. Food was excellent. Service was splendid. Nice, clean, relaxing surroundings. I'm not enjoying the best of health at the moment and we (from Lancaster) had arranged to meet my brother and his wife (from Dumfries) in Carlisle for some lunch (and a few refreshments!). The restaurant was recommended to us by our English cousin, who comes from, and lives, Carlisle. Excellent recommendation.

Loved this place. Wanted the seafood risotto without calamari and they did just that. Excellent food and service was first class.

Lovely food, the food is made fresh when you order so they are able to tweek the dish if there is something in it you don't like. The waitresses were lovely and attentive. Nice atmosphere.

Popped in to have a look at menu and the smell and atmosphere was very good so decided to try it out and it was very nice to say I am not keen on Italian cuisine. Also very reasonably priced and Greta service.

We had a lovely family meal, with 16 of us sitting down to eat. The food and service was excellent, and could not be faulted. Would certainly choose again for a celebration. Can most definitely recommend.

Lovely meal with family. Never eaten here before and would come back. Pollo Mezzaluna was gorgeous, as was Salmone Della Casa. Montepulcino wine was very nice, although a bit pricey.

Second time my daughters visited and she's been treated horribly by staff here. My daughter went in for a table today to meet up with her friend who was running late. Manager was very rude to my daughter who felt embarrassed and told them that she was leaving as she felt like she was causing an inconvenience to them. They could have been kind about it and simply told my daughter they had bookings in a kind manner, she would have happily left. Please remember it's your customers who help build up your business and maintain it, be nice to them.

Friends birthday meal.. the food was lovely highly recommended

What a lovely place. Arrived at 6pm on a cold thursday night and the warm air hit my face as I walked in. The staff were ever so polite and went above and beyond to make sure our table of 12 was completely satisfied. The prices are very cheap considering the quality of food you get. I ordered lightly battered garlic mushrooms with mozzarella cheese for a starter and spaghetti Carbonara as a main. The taste was sensational. You could tell the ingredients used were fresh and created to order. All in all we all had a great time with quality food and service. Very happy. Thank you.

Italian restaurant needs booked, in advance. My friends and I shared garlic bread starter, I had the Salmon main dish with a lovely sauce which came with vegetables and homemade chips it was excellent. Washed down with one or two glasses of Prosecco. Although the restaurant was very busy staff were very tentative. Shared compliments to the chef Roberto.
