Hands down one of the best steaks I’ve ever had, and a really decent price. The portion size was big aswell. Will definitely be returning.

Indeed the best steakhouse in Cambridge. Lovely appetisers and definitely want to try some other new things next time. Steaks were cooked perfectly, not chewy at all, very tender and full of flavour, comes with choice of sauce, potatoes and salad too and considering the price it’s a great value. Quite small selections of wines but still got good ones. If you looking for a quality steakhouse, this is the one and definitely worth the money. I really can’t wait to try other menus next time

I visited this restaurant with family and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The staff were friendly and was a great atmosphere. I had a filet which was perfectly cooked as whole I enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely return.

As a regular, I’m now getting more disappointed with every visit. Although the steaks are still ok, but they are not as good as they were. Well within 15 minutes of ordering, we had 1 chicken dish and 3 steaks turn up at the table and the steaks were clearly not rested. In most restaurants when ordering steak, especially the below cut, I’d be happy to wait 25-30 minutes or more, knowing fully well it’s cooked properly. The 500g rib on the bone was not 500g in weight and they have been getting smaller every visit. I cooked a Cote de Boeuf myself a few weeks ago, that weighed in at 550g including bone. It was twice as thick and nearly the same area. They then forgot our onion rings, the Mac n Cheese was nuclear, so must have been microwaved. If it’s not at least half pre cooked, how on earth can you have chicken supreme done in 12 minutes. Come on La Maison, I’ve raved about you guys for years, but you are now letting me down. It’s probably why there were only 2 other couples eating. Prove me wrong if we decide to return.

We were six friends visiting Cambridge for a few days. Staying at the Centennial Hotel just down the road, we’d had a brilliant day at IWM Duxford. We booked for an early dinner at 6.30 & we’re not disappointed. Friendly efficient staff, we shared starters of charcuterie olives & bread - very good. Our mains were varied but steaks & chicken. - all excellent. Very good portions & delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant.

I would give 5 stars if they did not serve fries out of a bag. How hard is it to cut potatoes? LAZY

There is very little on the menu for gluten intolerance. For some reason they were unable to put only salt on my steak - it’s the house seasoning or nothing. I won’t be going back because everything was over cooked. The black grill lines on the steak tasted of smoke and made me choke. Clearly they are not cleaning their grill. Likewise the sweet potato fries were over cooked- the oil needed changing. I don’t want to increase my chances of getting cancer by eating burned food.

Excellent excellent. Why didn’t I come to here earlier? Originally, I was thinking about some prime cuts like filet or ribeye or sirloin, but I read from the review that bavette steak is great here. As a less fatty cut, it will also better showcase the skill of the chef. Indeed, it is surprisingly good, perfectly medium rare, pink, and tender. While beef is fresh and flavorful on its own with a little salt and pepper, I must say that the green pepper sauce is beautiful, aromatic a little spicy, very appetizing. It’s probably one of the best beef sauce I’ve ever had and the one of the rare occasions where I dip the steak into the sauce as a steak fundamentalist. Potato gratin is wonderful, also one of the best. Eggy and cheesy without being heavy or greasy at all. A bowl of happiness. For starter we had the beef brisket croquette. The lady taking order was kindly recommending numb, beef, dishes, but since it’s our first try at the steakhouse, we go with full beef. 🐂 it comes larger than expected, and it’s a bomb from heaven. It’s just slightly coated with breadcrumb, but it’s so crispy and crunchy. Inside, it was filled with delicious lean yet melting-in-mouth brisket. (I didn’t order the briskets in the main because I worry it might be too fatty. And the starter proves to be a wonderful option to enjoy both steak and brisket.) The salad is nice and crisp although I can do without the dressing. Thank you for saving the French food scene and steak industry in Cambridge.

Throughly enjoyed my experience at La Maison Du Steak on Saturday 3rd February. I attended with a party of 8 people and we all felt that the food was excellent. The staff were efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.

Booked an early dinner, where only 4 customers in the whole restaurant and 3 waiters: 20 mins to take the first order. Big Tomahawk steak but undercooked, sent it back on grill. Food has been served to us, but there are no knives on the table. Panacotta and cheese cake on Menu " served with Mango" but actually was a watery disgusting sauce. I'm not rushing back too soon..

Personally I think it is overrated. Very expensive for what you get, when I say that I mean the whole experience The staff were not very friendly or helpful the layout meant two of us had our chairs bumped constantly all night with people and staff brushing past where the layout wasn’t great, two orders came up with one of the ingredients missing from the mixed grill they forgot to put the Lamb on both orders and when it was pointed out politely the reply was I will tell the chef, and that was the last we heard about it, no sorry or I will adjust the bill nothing? We were never asked if everything was ok with our food during the 3 courses, it was disappointing Especially when the bill arrived with a comment we need the table. 😳

Fantastic food but it is a little pricey. Nothing particularly special about the decor or environment but nothing to complain about either, just nice. Only issue was that the steak knives were blunt, all five of us had the same problem. Food was highly complemented by everyone. Definitely worth a try for special occasions. I will definitely be going back.

Good steak, but any sides are extra

Went for my husband’s birthday with friends. Nice friendly greeting and a chilled vibe inside. Steak was really good and I thought good value. Fillet steak, potato gratin, coleslaw and peppercorn sauce for £33. Nice glass of rose too. The steak was cooked to perfection. Lovely and blackened on the outside and med rare in the middle. Melt in the mouth.

Went out for a dinner here. The service was quite good. We both had had the Sirloin steak, which was quite nice. Took a star off for the sides and starters. They weren’t bad, but quality could be improved. Good value for money though.

Excellent birthday dinner at La Maison Du Steak on Hills Road. Some extra special French dishes, including a really delicious Boeuf Bourgignon (not photographed) an unforgettable Ribeye steak, very good wines, sublime crème brûlée!! and nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

I nipped in on my way back from doing a last bit of Xmas shopping, as usual it was pretty busy even for a lunchtime. I went for the French onion soup to warm me up and it certainly did that and it was tasty as well with a lovely bit of cheese on the croutons then came my lamb chops,chips and salad which didn't disappoint either. The service was quick and efficient and the cost of the starter and main were reasonable and I certainly didn't need to eat anything later as I was full for the rest of the day. This restaurant never disappoints and I will be back sooner rather than later.

The French onion soup was average and the beef bourguignon was pretty tasteless, certainly didn’t seem like it had been slow cooked in red wine. Pork belly was a rasher that tasted ok but skin was soft not crispy. The fridges of meat when you walk in look impressive but the fillet steak could have been better. Not really worth the cost or the best atmosphere.

Starters were amazing, beef brisket was fatty, and the steak was tough. The glass washer was leaking a lot of water all over the floor, and there was a problem with the till. Needs a lot of TLC to the place.

I cannot rate this restaurant at all! Pretty on the outside. Shabby on the inside. Food no better than pub grub. Wine box wine decantered into a pitcher. Over priced on every scale. Presentation poor. The staff albeit pleasant were not prepared to deal with a group of lads who ruined everyone’s evening. Nothing offered in compensation to their other guests who joined together to deal with the situation.

We finally got to visit this Cambridge institution last night after moving here from Australia 4 months ago, and we were not disappointed. In fact, we had the best meal we've had since arriving in the U.K. The steak was cooked to perfection. I had the mature rib eye on the bone, my partner the fillet steak. The freshness and flavour of both cuts was outstanding. The mixed green salad was well put together and dressed perfectly, a fantastic, fresh accompaniment to my steak, green pepper sauce and fries. I had to try some of my dining companion's coleslaw, and it was of the highest standard, made in house to a traditional Hungarian recipe, full of complex flavour and texture. The dessert offerings were of an equal quality, the Îles Flottantes was perfect, light and fluffy meringue floating in a crème anglaise, with freshly roasted almond slivers on top, and the Crème Brûlée rich, warm and satisfying on a cold late-November evening. The drinks list was well matched to the food offerings, we shared a lovely bottle of Nero d'Avola wine with our mains, and I highly recommend an Eau de vie (french fruit brandy) or two to finish your meal. We walked home from our meal re-capping every mouthful, and revelling in the wonderful dining experience we'd just had. Good food isn't cheap, but the value for money of everything we ate was outstanding. We look forward to returning again very soon, thanks to the team for a wonderful dining experience.

That was terrible experience. As we ordered a well done steak, but whole steak was burnt and tasted bitter. We've had well done steak many times and no one else restaurant have same taste like this.

Amazing steak, traditional & cozy interior

Went in and asked for a table and were greeted with very rude and impatient staff. Being fully booked doesn’t mean you should be rude to future patrons, which is a shame as I was looking forward to trying this place but will not be revisiting now. No idea about the food but the atmosphere and service was immediately apparent (poor) based on our very negative interaction with the staff.

An excellent steak restaurant in Cambridge. We had high expectations when we saw the dry aging cabinet, and we were not disappointed. I had a rib eye, which was a good portion and cooked perfectly. My fiancé had the burger, which was also perfect. For dessert, the staff gave my fiancé a tiramisu to celebrate. It was a very nice way to begin our trip to England.

Amazing, high quality steak that came with sides and sauce at no additional cost - we got a huge tomahawk (950g with bone) for 2, plus drinks and it came to less than £60. Never been to any steak house where food was this cheap AND delicious. Will definitely come back and introduce friends and family to this place. Nice, cosy atmosphere, too.

Lovely meal and great service. Big menu with plenty of choice- dont be fooled by the restaurants name; they serve lamb, chicken, duck, pork and fish as well as steaks. Be warned - we found the starters to be very generously portioned. We enjoyed a really leisurely meal and the four of us each had different mains and we were all delighted with our choices. Do try their coleslaw - I dont particularly like it usually but it was delicious, Would have no hesitation in returning next time we visit Cambridge.

Took our youngest here for a 21st birthday meal - and he enjoys steak. Friendly greeting and you notice the glass door fridge with large carcases of meat waiting to be prepared for dinner. (not a vegetarian place). The steaks we ordered were cooked brilliantly and the friendly service was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyable experience - but not cheap.

My steak was excellent. The portions are generous, didn't have space for dessert. They have a good selection of beers and french wines . A good atmosphere. It feels like littel France in Cambridge. Staff always attentive.

It's been a good few years since I last visited here and since that time a number of other steak restaurants have popped up in the city and glad to say this still remains my favourite. I love the feel inside and for a Wednesday early evening there was a lovely little buzz. Service was attentive with good knowledge of their menu. Inside feels a world away from the looming CB1 development I ciukd almost be in a backstreet restaurant in France. I plumped for the epic Tomahawk steak and should have listened to the waiters recommendation to go medium rare. 900g of pure beefy bliss with onlookers wondering if I would finish it off I didn't let them down! Food, setting and service all absolutely spot on couldn't recommend highly enough. Thanks everyone we will be back 🥩🐮

The food was fine but the service about the worst we’ve ever experienced. The waiter refused to seat us at the table we requested, despite the entire restaurant being completely empty upstairs and down. And the manager was as bad. We will never return.
