La Gondola in Fife

I’ve been eating at La Gondola since the late nineties, and I’m pretty sure the menu hasn’t changed one iota. The staff haven’t changed much either over the years, are pretty friendly and offer great service. The food is well cooked but it’s a fairly typical Scottish interpretation of Italian cuisine. Lots of pasta and creamy sauces. You always know what you’re getting, so it’s a safe bet for a decent night out.

WOW! Friends had introduced me to this lovely restaurant shortly before lockdown and I absolutely loved it but I’ve only eaten inside a few times but last night we decided to take advantage of the take away service they’re providing and I’m so glad we did! You can find the menu on their website and there’s something for everyone.We ordered a bruschetta,a carbonara and a Della Nonna pasta.They were tasty,fresh and hot.Couldn’t recommend this place enough.Great value and worth every penny,fabulous food and all while supporting a local independent business in these weird times.Thanks guys!

Came here for dinner with family and we all had a good time. Food was excellent from the starters through to desserts. We shared the garlic bread starter which was great. I can recommend the penne picante as a main. Staff were friendly and helpful and good with the kids too.

Excellent server he had his work cut out for him ,on his own with at least ten tables . So professional and cracked a few jokes he is amazing !, lovely food as always.

We arrived on a Sunday night with no plans and La Gondola was the only restaurant we found open in that part of the harbour road at Kirkcaldy, so we had no particular expectations, but were pleasantly surprised. The goats cheese and tomato filled pasta was lovely and the house wine was good too, and the staff were friendly

Ate at La Gondola tonight for the first time in a while. We had trouble deciding but opted for a shared starter, which we finished. My wife had a tagliatelle based dish, and enjoyed it very much. I had a veal special that was perfectly cooked with four different vegetables all perfectly cooked - this is Scotland for goodness sake. No room for dessert but bought a Tiramisu to take away, a wonderful idea and it went down easily though later. A word about the staff: they were great attentive, responsive a great advert for the restaurant and worth a bigger tip than was left. Thank you for a memorable evening. The meal we’d had the night before in a different restaurant was more expensive but nowhere near the high quality of La Gondola. I’ll forget the first, but tonight’s - that will live on in memory.

Great family run Italian. The entire restaurant has been recently refurbished so looks lovely and modern inside and out. It was actually the exterior that drew our eye while looking for a place to eat in Kirkcaldy.The staff were friendly and very attentive. The restaurant still feels lively and cosy even with the inevitable COVID adaptations in place.Food was excellent with generous portions and I particularly recommend the Tagliatelle Della Nonna which had nearly as much meat as pasta.Highly recommended if you’re in the area or even just passing through.

Came here for a nice meal after reading reviews on here and we weren't disappointed. Both my pasta and my friends pizza were delicious and we had a great bottle of wine to go with it, all of which came to a surprisingly good price for the quality. Would definitely recommend!

My GF and I booked La gondola for our date night , first one in months due to the lockdown etc. I had visited before many years ago and the food and service were tremendous , to say that has now changed would be an understatement. The starters were not to bad , my GF had the squid and i had the ribs. The squid was very bland and slimy and just tasteless and certainly not fresh as advertised or has been in the past. Mains were Halibut and fillet steak , again the halibut and sauce were tasteless and from a presentation perspective not well presented , the fillet steak was rather tough and fatty and I can honestly say i have had beter quality fillet from a supermarket , roast potatos were hard and i was lukcy i had a steak knife to cut them , the veg was also frozen and steamed before it was put on the plate , all in all not a nice experience at all for a £90 meal albeit that price was with a bottle of wine and 2 beers, sad to say that we will not return to La Gondola , they seem to have taken their eye of the ball and are more intertested in quantity rather than quality , the Chefs have certainly lowered the standrad to unaccpetable levels... In the area for a short break and happened upon this place in passing. Couldn’t get a table it was so busy so ordered ‘to go’ and took our food back to our accommodation. I feared the worst but my partner really enjoyed her pasta dish. I don’t really do pasta so had chicken in breadcrumbs with chips and it was very tasty! Going back tonight for round 2. :)

Always heard good reviews about this restaurant but have never visited before. Booked for Monday night when the eat out to help out promotion was running.Friendly staff promptly sat us at the table, and food and drinks order taken.Service was friendly and quick without feeling intrusive. Food was lovely and hot - my husband really enjoyed the calzone and I enjoyed my pasta dish.Prices normal for around this area - they do an early evening promotion but due to my working hours I would be unable to benefit from this.Would definitely recommend and return after this promotion ends. Thanks for a lovely visit.

First visit and have passed this place for many years , good food and good service , staff very friendly , we will be back soon . Very clean , music would be nice in the background rather than the phone ringing non stop , which is good for business as takeout orders were flying out the door , this was a family 60 th birthday and everybody in our group enjoyed their meals

Found ourselves hungry in Kirkcaldy and consulted tripadvisor. We decided on La Gondola and I’m so glad we did. The food was brilliant, always left disappointed with Italian but not this time. Food was hot, tasty and enough to fill 2 hungry people. Would def recommend and would go back if ever in the area. Well laid out and one way system with plenty of sanitiser made us both feel that they cared about their customers. Thank you for our lovely dinner.

Friendly welcome, great value. Social distancing procedures in place with hand sanitiser on the collection tables and contactless card terminal (or pay over the phone when ordering).Very tasty meal to collect and take away.Tagliatelle nonna, penne amatriciana and garlic bread with cheese more than enough for two.Good size portions, pastas had lots of sauce, garlic bread served in little pizza box keeps the bread crispy.We've eaten here a few times before lockdown and always enjoyed it. Now, during lockdown, the same quality of food and service continues.

Had another great meal here on Friday night, the bruschetta is excellent and cannot fault the chicken and mushroom risotto, just brilliant. Food is always piping hot and the service by the guys, is just second to none. Always made to feel welcome by all the staff and they are always ready to recommend something new, happy to recommend La Gondala

The risotto was perfect. Excellent choices on the menu. Great service. Looking forward to our next visit - could become our favourite local restaurant! My granddaughter is going through a picky period and she loved her meal.

Great little Italian. Been here a few times when visiting Kirkcaldy, always top of the list for places to eat in the area!

Three of us visited for dinner on a Friday evening. Not full but plenty of people,so there was a good atmosphere. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was all delicious,particularly my fish. Highly recommended

We normally go to Edinburgh for our Christmas works night out but all agreed to stay local this year we picked La Gondola as nearly everyone I asked recommended them we were all totally satisfied with every aspect especially the price it was very reasonable we will be back

I have just had evening meal which was great but notice the head waiter riccardo was missing when i asked another customer i was told he had been sacked he was always the best waiter there friendly with all customers and always very helpful he will be sadly missed the other waiters just don't have his style or his customer connection they seem very false where as riccardo was very genuine this might stop us from returning

Visited tonight for the first time for a graduation meal with the family. Immediately liked the atmosphere in the restaurant, waiters very smartly dressed and a cosy setting within. We each had 3 courses which were all wonderful- the best meal we have all had in a long time. Having heard good things previously, we tried it for ourselves and could not be happier with the service we received and food we ate. All dishes were beautiful and cooked and crafted to perfection. We really can’t wait to visit again, and will definitely be back soon.

Tables too close together so very noisy. Could do with some form of internal barriers. Service was excellent and the food generally very good as well.

Went as a large group for a birthday meal. Have been here on quite a few occasions and sometimes it's better than others. I had the spinach & ricotta canelloni this time, it was ok. No-one was blown away by their meals & the drinks are quite expensive. Some of Our desserts got mixed up as were similar but nothing was done or said about it. For an Italian I actually prefer toni macaroni even though it's a chain. Wouldn't rush back here

Love La Gondola, visited twice last week. It’s our favourite restaurant in Kirkcaldy. Staff are brilliant, always make such an effort with our girls. The food is the best, great value & never had a bad experience or poor meal, always amazing. Thank you To Elaine, Luca & the team. See you soon!

Simple restaurant with fair food. we ate well, both the - typical Italian dish and the fish were tastefully prepared. The service is fast, very friendly and helpful.

Lovely family dinner here mid week. Staff friendly and welcoming, food service from the guys. I think I can speak for all of us that were there to say we all had a lovely dinner, tasty delicious hot food. Cant beat that!

We visited La Gondola in Kirkcaldy while on holiday in Fife and would recommend it highly. The decor is not fancy but the prices are fair, the service good and the food excellent! We had two different pasta dishes and they were both first rate. Very nice desserts too. They don’t accept American Express cards but that is only a minor inconvenience and would certainly not put us off visiting again.

Really enjoyed our meal. Quick service, and they don't push you out the door after your finished your meal.

My husband and I only had one course but it was delicious. Cooked to perfection. Would return but not with my fairly badly behaved husband. The staff dealt with him quietly and appropriately!

Absolutely fantastic service and high quality food. We were a group of 8, travelled from Elgin for the drama festival in Kirkcaldy and didn't know where to eat but thankfully we found this delightful restaurant. Our waiters were so attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant.

As tends to be the case in Kirkcaldy the restaurant was a bit tired looking inside. It was really hot because we were sat next to a radiator and you can see through to the kitchen so all the heat comes through.

Visited here last night with family, as always food was lovely, fresh and tasty. Staff are always polite and friendly. The restaurant is always super busy which says it all really. Looking forward to my next visit.

I took my daughter and her fiancé here on a visit to Kirkcaldy. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful which makes the experience so positive. The food was good as well, my only slight gripe being that there could have been a bit more meat in the pasta main dishes. This is a good Italian restaurant with a great selection to choose from, pasta, pizza and al la Carter dishes.

I worked in Scotland for 4 days and thought I would visit some local eateries and heard good things about La Gondola and I wasn’t let down. The food in this place was fantastic. I had gamberoni piccanti to start. (Beautiful plump prawns in a delicious sauce) and the special rack of lamb in tomato sauce for main. The lamb was melt in your mouth delicious. On top of the great food the staff were amazing.

This place is amazing fantastic from the moment we went in from the drinks to the three course meal the staff could not fault any one of them so relaxing no rush to get us out will definately be back

We drove up from Manchester on a rainy and very windy day. We ended up at La Gondola on the recommendation of a local shop keeper. The staff were friendly and the food was served hot and fresh. It was exactly what the doctor ordered on a rainy, cold and windy night.

We arrived late never been here before and service was very attentive the starters were lovely all 4 of us had something different. For main I had pasta alfredo with ham it wasnt as thick as I was expecting it but tasted really nice. I felt and everybody else felt like the pasta portions were very small. I normally leave some and cant eat anything else but I finished it all and wasnt full. This is the only issue nice food and service small main course portions

My first visit to this restaurant will not be the last. From the time I phoned to book our table, everything went great. It was busy when we went early on a Saturday night but were seated straight away. The menu is varied and our meals were first class with service to match despite the place being busy. The prices were reasonable and the food was good value for money.

We had a family meal here on a Tuesday night, the service was excellent from when we were made welcome through to the end of our meal. We had a mix of meals, all were fine, tasty and well presented. Good value dinner.

Food was lovely. Staff were very pleasant and funny. They took the time to chat away to us. You could tell they cared about their customers which was evident with the chats they were having. Food was hot, fresh and delicious

We ate at the the La Gondola twice during our stay in Kirkcaldy. Both times our meals were excellent. The owners Luca and Elaine were so nice. We had great fun talking with them. The atmosphere is very comfortable. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Came here last night for the second time just passing through after a day out on the coast. Restaurant was busy. Staff friendly and helpful plenty of choice to pick from the menu. Food well presented and tasted excellent good size portion delivered to the table great time. Price off food really good would definitely recommend to others to try won't be disappointined.

Some friends were visiting and we booked a table for 4 on 23rd June, unfortunately we missed out on the monkfish but other delights awaited, my wife and I use this restaurant frequently and it never fails to deliver.

You pay a bit more in La Gondola than in the other Italian restaurants in town but that is reflected in the service, presentation of food and the overall experience.

Went here with a group of 8. The food was excellent as was the service. My meal was lovely, the pizzas looked fantastic and I think I will try one next time. My partner enjoyed his pasta and they were happy to make it extra spicy for him.

Always a friendly welcome and a good meal. Accommodating of children of all ages and also of the need for gluten free dining. Happy to have small or larger parties and manage both well. Delicious food

We popped in here for a late lunch and weren't disappointed. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive. They have a huge menu with lots of great dishes. Our pasta dished were hot and delicious. The Orange sorbet that I had for dessert was just amazing. I would definitely go back here when in Kirkcaldy.

Went here tonight with my husband for an early dinner. Warm welcome and quick, friendly service. Had bruschetta to start and it was delicious, tomatoes so fresh and tasty! Husband had garlic bread with mozzarella and he enjoyed. I have the spaghetti con pollo and zucchini which was so deliciously rich. My husband had penne amatriciana and said it was very tasty. However he has a large appetite and could have had a bigger portion. Two starters, two mains and two soft drinks for £30. I’d say very reasonable and very impressed!

We booked for meal to celebrate and the older gentleman who served us was very short with my girls who only asked if it was possible to share a the garlic bread starter and was grumpy when delivering the food. However our main waiter that evening was a young boy, very polite. The food was very good and we all enjoyed our meal ranging from seafood pasta to calzone hence the four stars.

Went here for our anniversary meal and onceagain we cannot fault it the two waiters were so nice and the service was fantastic love going here always looked after.

We visited again with family and it was just wonderful! The team are absolutely amazing, and the food was knock out. The flavours in the dishes were just incredible and the Nutella cheesecake was to die for! Amazing value and a wonderful time!!!

We found this little gem of a place in Kirkcaldy. Plan was to have something to eat before the ice hockey . They have a great early bird deal which has excellent choice and fantastic value. However we looked at the main menu and this was fabulous too, so we made our selection. What can we say the food was amazing, the prawn starter so so tasty and a lovely spicy heat. The main was the Risotto which again was so tasty. The service was excellent and could not be faulted. We will definitely be back , thanks to you all, kitchen and front of house.

Heard good things about this restaurant but felt like I was in Frankie & Bennies getting served frozen food!! Wouldn’t recommend.

Tried here when my fave Italian was fully booked. Wish I didn’t. Average with nothing to shout about sadly. Wine was nice but food and ambiance lacking the feel of Italy. Stick to my regular thanks

Staff were great, very welcoming and attentive, ordered garlic bread to start which was ok. I’d a meat feast pizza with chilli but it was only chilli flakes, pizza tasted like a good quality shop bought pizza and the chicken tasted like frozen chicken strips....

Ate as a party of three and I think that we made pigs of ourselves having garlic bread followed by three courses. The food was excellent and the two waitresses were both friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Last minute change of plans meant we had to eat in Kirkcaldy. Saw the reviews on Trip Advisor and popped along hoping to get a table ... thankfully we were early !

On a short trip to Kirkcaldy, our luck was in when we 'discovered' this immaculate Italian restaurant. Had to eat there on all 4 nights because the food, welcome and everything was SO good. We chose different dishes at each meal and all were extremely well cooked and presented. We can't fault this place and wish we were going to Kirkcaldy again but may not have the pleasure.

Anniversary early evening meal. Large red and pint of lager for wets. Calzone and penne picante for mains, one sweet for afters. All for under £40 including non-compulsory 10% tip. Easy parking, spotless facilities, friendly staff. Can get busy later so booking advisory.

Absolutely loved it here. We were staying in Kirkcaldy for 1 night and walked down the high street and found this place.. it looked like it was quite busy (always a good sign) so we tried it. The owner/waiter was so lovely. The food was delicious, calamari was gorgeous and we also had bruschetta with lovely fresh tomatoes ... For mains we both had a chicken dish, the sauces (mine was cream and mushroom, my sisters was gorgonzola) were sensational. Loved this place, authentic italian food and both of us had 3 courses for £30 a head. And friendly staff. Highly recommend

Just had a family meal here with my cousin and husband too who came all the way from Canada. Food was lovely, we had a few starters and mains which were all delicious. Definitely recommend to friends and we will be back in the future.

Our first visit here and we went for the early bird special with our two grandsons. A lovely relaxed atmosphere. Staff very friendly and attentive. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and will definitely be dining here again.
