La Foglia in Cherwell

Just had a gorgeous family lunch at La Foglia. Great service and the food was delicious.

We visited this place quite a few years ago when it was called something else and didn't go back. However we tried La Foglia following a recommendation and had a very good meal, and will be visiting again. 😀

After two unsuccessful attempts to get in, I reserved and was NOT disappointed. Great service, outstanding food and wine and a friendly atmosphere. I’d highly recommend, but make a reservation !!

I really enjoyed my pasta, it was very tasty. Our waitress was really lovely. I've noticed its fairly popular with young families. The only downfall is that when all windows are open and people smoke in front of the restaurant, the smell goes right in.

We tried the seafood risotto, prawn linguine, Awesome taste...

Anniversary dinner. Food was superb and highly recommended. Restaurant was full, only negative was very noisy and struggled to have a conversation.

2 of us went for meal, this place had been recommended to us, and they didn't disappoint!! The waiting staff were very attentive, the food was freshly cooked and well presented. I has Sea Bass, and wife had Meatballs.

Great food, and busy so there was a nice atmosphere. Service from the young lad was exceptional.

We went to La Foglia with a friend of mine and our son at the weekend. We had not booked a table but they managed to fit us in and provide a high chair. The food was delicious. I chose the vegetable ravioli and would definitely have it again! The vanilla cheesecake was also very good. They also boiled some vegetables for our son. Service was good and when we left the restaurant was very busy, with most tables taken on a Saturday night so would advise to book ahead if you are going on a weekend!

Had a top notch meal at La Foglia. The restaurant provides some toast and a spicy tomato paste whilst your starter is prepared. An excellent touch. My avocado and crayfish starter was beautifully presented. The lobster ravioli exquisite.

We went to La Foglia for dinner last Saturday with our Daughter. As always the food and service was superb. All of our meals was excellent as was the house red. Tiramisu was perfect. I would highly recommend a visit

Food was OK but not much in the way of good quality seafood on the menu

We had seafood spaghetti and "dobby" pizza. Both dishes were waaay too salty and spicy but tbh the portion of 'from frozen' seafood in the spaghetti was decent. The pizza was doughy and had hardly any meat on the topping but plenty of jalapeno. Parts of the pizza were totally bare like when you get slices where someone has removed all the topping. The spaghetti didn't have any sauce. They replaced the pizza to be fair to them, they were nice, and brought a lasagne instead. The lasagne was also amazingly salty and was the first lasagne I'd seen with no bechamel, just pasta, mince, tomato sauce and some herbs and a ton of salt. They'd be much better off reselling M&S lasagne or sending the chef on an educational trip to Italy. Definitely not 1-star though as the food was edible and staff were nice. Edit in response to owner's response: clearly not a duplicate, as anyone can click on my profile to see if I've reviewed this place before. Glad to see you were recently shut for a time, hopefully that incorporated the trip to Italy x

A lovely experience,good food,excellent service and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are attentive and prompt at fulfilling requests. Not overpriced either,if you're visiting Banbury I'd recommend a visit.

Great experience lovely food. Did run out of a few puddings but had something else and it was lovely. Very busy busy the service was spot on.

Lovely restaurant, this is the second time I've been there now, and really enjoyed the food and great service.

A bit pricey but worth every pound. We tried the seafood risotto, prawn linguine and smoked salmon pasta and all of them were delicious. The seafood risotto especially was full of seafood. Worth a try if you’re in Banbury.

Friendly independent Italian restaurant we dinned to celebrate a friends birthday, bruschetta, seafood de mare and sea bass all delicious, highly recommend.

Great local restaurant which never fails to impress. The staff are welcoming and on the ball and the food is great value for money!

It's really very very bad .The tastiest dish was water .Poor, salty food without taste.I think shef haven't try dishes what he cooked.

I don't often leave bad reviews, I don't believe in it but I don't think I've ever been treated so unprofessionally. After a long day walking around we were recommended this restaurant as a nice place to dine. My partner loves Italian food and I really fancied a tiramisu and hot tea. On arrival we were greeted and seated kindly. My partner ordered the classic Spaghetti Bolognese and I ordered Tiramisu with a lemon tea and water. We often do this in our favourite restaurants in Oxford. Nothing happened at first then there was some whispers going on and lots of glances over in our direction. At this point I had an idea we had done something wrong and I felt extremely uncomfortable. A very abrupt lady approached us, perhaps the manager, with a very overbearing approach. Infact she talked to us like we had committed a crime. Sarcastic tones and unnecessary rudeness. We were told they are 'unable to serve us as this is a restaurant' I explained I have a sweet tooth and my partner was actually the one dining I was just accompanying him and was treating myself to a cake and tea. I was spoken to in a demeaning and rude mannor and told in more ways than one we were not being served. It's a real shame I would have loved to try this place but so ce reading the other Google reviews I am quite relieved we didn't get to try the food since many people have said it is not good. It really was very unwelcoming and confusing. It felt embarrassing being told to leave the restaurant. Please avoid this place, can't say much about the food but if you want to be treated with respect and dignity then avoid at all costs ! Absolutely disgraceful way to treat customers. 0 stars Get some training on customer services. Kind regards

Get Authentic Italian food in Banbury..

One of the best meals I've ever had in Banbury.

Large portion meals, Good customer service.

On the main road through Banbury. Great food!! We had the Lasagne and Spaghetti Bolognese. Both were absolutely delicious. Dessert was Pannacotta and an Afogato. The latter had Ameretto in it. Yum. Nice decor, nice people. Good value for money. Recommended.

This a lovely quaint place to eat. The food is tasty however my lasagna was quite salty and hard to finish. I think service can be quicker, only 3 tables in the restaurant yet took quite a while to get served.

Ok food but the time to get it was appalling! We arrived at 20:10, asked the waiter to order food at least 2 times until we finally ordered the food at 20:40. The mains never got to us until 21:30! In the end we had to be "rude" to ask to speed up our main. Not recommended.

Excellent meal supplemented by really good service. Having now eaten at Banbury's other Italian restaurants, this is clearly the best.

Proper restaurant, a true 10/10, food was amazing, service was amazing, portions and presentation top notch. We are on a break and our hotel had a limited menu, we decided to find somewhere else, we are glad we did. I truly mean this, the lasagne was the best we’ve ever tasted, the sauce was incredible, we also had the sea bass, 10/10, carbonara 10/10 and the chicken milinase was magical, 4 very very happy people. As I said a proper 10/10.

Really disappointing. Came here as never been yet live close by, and heard it was good. Service was beyond slow that by time pizza came out we’d finished bottle of wine. Was in there over two hours which normally is great but with no atmosphere, it was long! Food was ok tbh a little tasteless 🤷‍♀️ 😞

They accommodated us early in the evening even with a party booking going on. Service was fast and efficient. There were 3 of us, 2 enjoying generous sized pizza and the other a salmon/pasta dish. Food very tasty. We've been a number of times and would recommend it.

Called in here whilst staying in Banbury overnight. The restaurant was very busy (always a good sign), and I can see why. The food from start to finish was authentic, and gorgeous. I had the bruschetta followed by the homemade meatballs and Conchiglie pasta...cooked and seasoned perfectly. Plenty of pleasant staff and a lovely bottle of Pinot Grigio made for a lovely evening with the wife.

Lived in Banbury for 15 years , and this was my first visit to La Foglia - wow what have l been missing the food and service - excellent . Certainly will be making this restaurant a favourite destination of choice.

Lovely food, really really tasty! And a nice selection of wine with a great atmosphere. I don't know if it was an off day but we found service to be a bit lacking and would have to try and get the attention of someone to get empty plates removed etc

We called in early in the off-chance of getting a table during the week. We were lucky but could only have the table for a certain amount of time due to forward bookings. No problem and we had a super meal served by charming staff. We will definitely book another time!

Booked early for Valentine's day... Rock up to the restaurant to find fixed menu at £40 pp. Plus drinks... This was not mentioned when I booked my table We did not like anything on the starter menu.....all blooming tomatoes on the vine and a bit of ham or pasta Manager came across and only offered a bit of bread with a garlic dip instead...... When asked to reduce the £40 pp she was rather rude saying take it or leave it.... So we left it.... I will not be returning due to very poor customer service

Dined at La Foglia again last night with friends, there were 8 of us altogether. Had a wonderful evening, enhanced by the excellent food and service. You cannot beat the whole experience of dining here, the atmosphere is lovely, the staff are excellent and the food cannot be faulted. It is definitely 'the place' to eat in Banbury at this time. Well Done to all the team there, we will be back SOON!

Went for a meal with a friend on a Saturday evening. The place was full and I didn't notice much social distancing although the staff did wear face masks. I'm vegan and there was a limited choice (vegetarians have a slightly more options). Nonetheless the food was fantastic, service was timely and staff friendly and attentive. I would go there again.

Me and my partner decided to have go there for our date night and I must say - the food, the atmosphere and the service are all amazing. Portion size was also very satisfying. I really wish we gave this place a try before because it would save us many disappointments we have had with other local restaurants. We will definitely be coming back here for more :) Thank you to the lovely ladies who tended our table. Very kind, professional and friendly aswell. And many thanks to the chef because the food was delicious.

Food is lovely and really lovely restaurant. Was just very disappointed as service wasnt great. Had called up and booked for my boyfriends birthday and had even confirmed the booking in a 2nd call. They said if we ordered a dessert they would do the birthday candle and sing with it. We ordered a dessert because of this for £7 when we actually wouldn't have got it otherwise and they totally forgot. Very disappointing. Wouldnt have even ordered a dessert if it wasnt for that promise so total waste of our money. No apology or anything, just totally forgot and I left incredibly disappointed as it was a special meal and I was excited to surpise him.

Excellent food in good surroundings.. We were unsure if we should buy a takeaway or a cheap and cheerful sit down but once we saw La Foglia we gave it a try. We were all so glad we did. Highly recommended.

from poor serving to very bad food at. worse I saw that you reuse the so-called special sauce made at home after you take it from the customers, pour it into a bucket over the other sauce and serve it further. I could say more but I'll stop here. whoever came into your kitchen knows what it's all about.
