We had a very enjoyable meal. Good food and good portion size. My husband asked if the Calzone could be vegetarian and although the waitress initially said no, the chef was happy to replace the ham with mushrooms. Good to see it is used by locals - always a good sign.

On a really busy evening, the service was exceptionally good given . Whole restaurant was serviced by excellent owner even with her broken arm! Very much a family effort as food was delivered by a couple of chefs - all with smiles and humour when it must have been a stressful period. - food was honest home cooked Italian and great value. We were very impressed by linen table cloths and napkins which are a rarity these days. Altogether a very enjoyable dinner.

We were a party of 7 friends in for dinner. The restaurant is lovely, great atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. We all loved the food. It seemed like authentic Italian/Sicilian. Generous tasty portions at very reasonable prices.

Family-run feel. The food was gorgeous. Polite and charming hosts and great value. What a little gem.

Excellent food and service as usual. We booked for evening meal with family who were visiting the area. The staff are very efficient and friendly. The food is delicious and even catered for coeliac and vegetarians in our party.

We had a wonderful family dinner here. We made the booking based upon other Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed. We had a range of meals in including pasta, pizza and chicken, all our party said that it was probably the best Italian food we have eaten. Delicious food, excellent service, nice atmosphere and good value. We couldn’t have asked for more! Wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again.

Fantastic family meal. The staff squeezed us in and were very attentive, despite the restaurant being super busy. In fact the female who runs the front of house is simply outstanding - friendly and attentive. She clearly knew what stage every table was at and never missed a step in terms of service. We had pizza, seafood pasta and deserts. All were perfect. All in all a great experience with great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We regularly eat here whenever we visit Amble and inevitably have a good meal which is presented well and priced even better. I find it difficult to criticize the restaurant at all as we never have any complaints. I just wish that all eating establishments produced such meals as regularly as La Famiglia

Went with friends who have just moved to Amble and WOW everything about La Famiglia was fantastic service ,food and price food really was superb and plenty of it .I had steak in a sauce I think mainly tomato but couldn’t believe the size of the steak (large) and cooked to perfection it’s a great pity we live so far away but might impose more often on our friends just to eat at La Famiglia try it you won’t be disappointed most certainly highly recommend

This was the best place in amble, staff really nice and I enjoyed every single minute there. Food was delicious and the wine was spectacular. The chefs came and asked specifically what we needed and did an amazing job on the food. Looking forward to coming back again next summer

What a wonderful evening. The food was scrumptious and Libby and Vera made us feel so welcome. Definitely recommend to anyone who likes excellent Italian food.

Lovely family restaurant with friendly staff . The exterior belies the homely interior . The food was excellent and the menu offered a varied and large selection of dishes . We all enjoyed our meals and would certainly return again .

We visit Amble on a regular basis but first time we have eaten at this restaurant. Went on a Monday night and it was very busy. Only two staff waiting on and they were rushed off their feet. Was expecting the service to be really slow but how wrong I was. Service was efficient and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. Three of us had pizzas and three had pasta. They were honestly some of the best dishes we have had in an Italian restaurant- the pasta dishes in particular were so tasty and the portions were large. Thank you for a great experience, we will definitely return.

For those of you choosing to dine in Amble, Northumberland, be very careful. Yesterday I was met with the most awkward and obnoxious restaurant owners i have ever come across. This takes some beating as I have dined in some of the strangest places around the world. However I have never been subject to anything like yesterday. At 12pm, the restaurant opening time, I took my 3 young grandchildren to LA FAMIGLIA restaurant on Queen Street. I was told, by one of the owners, that the restaurant would be 10 minutes late in opening due to not being ready. Because my grandchildren were hungry i replied that it was okay and I would go somewhere else. My god, "I would go somewhere else". Those offensive words.We walked to find somewhere else to eat, but my grandchildren insisted on La Famiglia for pasta and pizza.We returned to the restaurant to be told by the owners to go away. Why? Because I'd had the audacity to use my freedom of choice to say, " I would go somewhere else". Although I explained that I had changed my mind, a decision I am entitled to make, after all we live in a democratic country. I was met with contempt, awkwardness and I felt insulted. The chef gave me his 5 pence worth too eventually telling me, to get out. The restaurant was empty at the time. I wonder if I would have been treated in such a way had other customers been present.Lesson learned:1. Be careful how you use your freedom of speech in front of the owners of LA FAMIGLIA. (Visitors to the UK should be more respectful)Politeness is first and foremost when dealing with customers. Dont be fooled by LA FAMIGLIA in Amble. I've been subject to their obnoxious manner.To the owners I have this to say: just remember this, the tourists won't be flocking to Amble in the winter months. Your business will depend on the locals of Amble and the surrounding towns. Us locals are what keeps the likes of you lot in the trade in business. However, I have witnessed at first hand what the owners are like. I will never step foot in LA FAMIGLIA again.

Called in on spec knowing they would be fully booked but they squeezed us in and I’m so glad they did.The atmosphere is relaxed with the staff giving you just the right amount of time to decide your choices.My wife and I are both seafood lovers, and they did not disappoint, with good size portions, perfectly prepared and presented.I opted for Seafood pasta which was out of this world, by far the best I have ever had, the wife had Fisherman’s fillet which was large prawns with a huge fillet steak which even though it was about 1.5” thick they managed to cook it to perfection, all washed down with a cold Peroni made it a wonderful dining experience, all this and very well priced.If you get the chance to eat here you will not be disappointed, I will certainly be back.

Wow what an amazing find on our trip to Northumberland simply outstanding from start to finish we couldn’t fault a thing. Lovely menu with lots of choices - fab pastas pizzas and steaks. Huge portions delightful service - the steak was wonderful. Everything arrived quickly - despite the restaurant being full. Our waitress was charming despite how busy she was. Great atmosphere inside too. This is exactly how eating out should be - our only concern how we will ever find an Italian this good again when we have to go home now the holiday has finished - just book it you will not be disappointed

We went here for a family meal whilst on holiday in Amble, the format and lay out of the menu in the window nearly put me off, I am so glad it didn’t as the food was absolutely delicious.My husband said that the steak Rossini was one of the best meals he had eaten for a long time and my chicken dish was fantastic, so couldn’t eat it all though as the portion was massive.Really welcoming staff, very friendly and attentive throughout.Will absolutely recommend to anyone

Had a late booking at this restaurant whilst on holiday for a few days in Amble at the end of July. I have to say that I was not excited about the prospect but how wrong could I be? This is a warm welcoming restaurant who serve excellent Italian food which is served by friendly competent staff. If we had discovered this place a little earlier we would have returned! To sum up, great food friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

Arrived for a booked table at 7pm; they finally took our food order at 7:50pm.When our starters arrived, both of which were supposed to have toasted bread included; no bread. We asked for bread, got unintelligible remark, followed by 3 bits of toasted bread between two of us; meaning 1.5 bits each; I think something went wrong with portion control here.Main course was ok, nothing special.Apparently the reason they were so busy was they are the only restaurant open in a Monday. If this is the case, spread your bookings; don’t fill the restaurant and then keep people waiting.We would rather have been told, we are full at 7pm; can you come at 7:30 or 8:00 when we will be better able to serve you.Nothing special and poor slow service mean we won’t go again.

Nice Italian restaurant, in amble main St, good service and food plus reasonably priced, we had garlic bread to start , lasagne and chicken Diane to follow pint of peroni plus a large wine , Bill came to approx 33pounds , we were well satisfied, booking advised as gets very busy on a evening ,

Gorgeous food made with good quality ingredients, in spotlessly clean surroundings. Caprese salad, chicken liver pate, sea bass,risotto and pizza all excellent.

We both had a fabulous meal here. There were choices I had never seen in an Italian restaurant before. Pollo Limone was delicious. The service was relaxed and unhurried but still good. I thought that the quality of the food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable, so it was good value for money. I would recommend this place highly!

Saw the fillet steaks coming out and couldn't resist! Big portions and good quality. We thought it good value too at under £50 for both of us with 2 drinks.

After visiting last night, we can't recommend the restaurant enough. Service was very attentive without being over the top and the food was excellent and well worth every penny. Thank you for a lovely meal!

My wife and I were visiting for the day and called in for the Early Bird menu and had a really nice reasonably priced meal. Absolutely no complaints with the meal or service and would certainly use this restaurant again.

Visited in June as we were staying in Amble to celebrate a birthday. Friendly polite staff, lovely surroundings. The food was first class and fantastic value for money. Would highly recommend

Arrived with my husband and children to eat pizza . Unfortunately denied entry as I am exempt so had no mask. Did try to discuss this with the lady but she insisted I needed a mask to use the toilet (which I didn’t even ask to use anyway). Obviously did not want our custom. Very disappointing.

After a very disappointing visit to another eating establishment in Amble which resulted in us leaving without eating we found this restaurant. Arriving at the door with no reservation we were warmly greeted and shown to a table where service was efficient and friendly. Unusually for an Italian restaurant we both had the 3 course Sunday lunch which was excellent in quality, quantity and price. No question we will eat here again, soon.

We ate here as a party of four, and it was a new restaurant for all of us. Two of our party are gluten free, and the menu catered really well for them, including gluten free pasta if desired.We just had main courses, two chicken dishes, a risotto, and a lasagna. we had chips with one chicken dish and a good range of veg with the other. The sauces with the chicken dishes were delicious, and the risotto and lasange were good too.The house wines were well priced and perfectly decent. Service was friendly. Covid precautions were clear and followed by all.We were just visiting, but our friends live close by and will certainly visit again.

Lovely food & lovely staff with a bit of character! Disappointing to see chips with everything in an Italian! Why would you do that!!! Every other damn’d restaurant in Amble is chips! Asked for an alternative, and did get it so in the end all good, but disappointed with the lack of authenticity, and the veg side order was loads of swede.! “Never been offered swede in Italy anytime EVER” that just not italian!Its not really a proper Italian, just a restaurant cashing in on tourists which is an absolute shame. Could be an absolute peach. Lovely inside. Staff were great.The Boathouse and The Fish Shack, both of which we love, & where you can go to for “general tourist foods” are lovely. so please, please, if youre going to own an italian, do it properly.

Called in on the first day we were allowed to eat inside. Food was very good and service was excellent. A very friendly environment.

Got a takeaway special - 2 lasagnes, a garlic bread with tomato (added mozzeralla and basil). Skins came with 2 dips, lasagne was lovely and lots of sauce. Really enjoyed it and good value for money.

4th time we have eaten here and took our family bubble with us today for Sunday lunch. Hubby had soup of the day which was chicken & sweetcorn which he said was very tasty, I had bruschetta which was perfect with a nice shaving of Parmesan on the top, son had 3 large slices of melon with Parma ham over each piece, his wife shared potato skins & dips with the 3 year old and 5 year old waited for his Bolognese pizza (child size which was pretty large he could only eat half). 2 of us had the lamb dinner & hubby had beef with all the trimmings, all delicious and hot, son opted for pizza but could,only manage half. 4 Ice creams, 1 tiramisu & 4 coffees later (3 courses for £9.99) all in all a very nice lunch for a very decent price. Worth booking on a Sunday as Amble market is on. We would highly recommend.

We have visited la famiglia many times when staying in Amble , and have never been let down . The food is always tasty and freshly prepared , good value for money . We called in for a meal, and knew when we sat down that we had done the right thing. We both had calamari to start and different pizzas as a main, all of which were enjoyed utterly. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and will return

Called here for lunch and so glad we did. There is a 3 course for £10 lunch menu with good choices but we decided to choose from the main menu. I had lasagne and hubby had the calzone pizza, both were large and delicious and amazing value. If you are in Amble look out for this great authentic Italian restaurant, you won't be disappointed.

Despite the social distancing etc this restaurant still had plenty of atmosphere. Lovely food and felt safe and well looked after.

We felt very safe here as all Covid measures were carried out. The food was excellent (we had seafood pasta). Excellent service from very polite and helpful staff. Would recommend.

We decided to go early for a change and opted for the early bird special, 3 courses for £9.95. It was fantastic value for money with the food being top notch and just as good as when eating off the normal menu. There is no compromise on quality or quantity and the service was 1st class as usual. Looking forward to our next visit already!

Visited this restaurant last week and I can’t speak highly enough of the quality of the food and service.The meal was excellent from start to finish, steaks were beautifullly cooked to our varied requirements, flavour was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and then came the bill- excellent value for money couldn’t believe it. A proper little gem which we would highly recommend.

First visit to La Famiglia. The restaurant is bright and clean, tables are appropriately distanced and staff wear masks.We both ordered pate to start then Pollo Valdostana with chips and cheesy garlic bread.Presentation on everything was excellent, portions were very generous and the food was faultless.Delicious home made pate, toasted brioche bread, cranberry sauce and sliced orange, drizzled with balsamic glaze. Absolutely delicious.The Valdostana was stunning. Huge portion of tender chicken with a crispy crumb, wrapped in prosciutto smothered in cheese and served on a rustic tomato sauce. We both agreed it was one of the best we have ever tasted.Staff are pleasant, friendly and efficient We were very impressed and will return

On holiday in Northumberland for a week last month and we were hoping to go to The Fish Shack again, which we'd discovered the previous summer. This being the early post-Covid 19 period, a lot of places were still not open. As a result we ended up going to La Famiglia which had just reopened itself. It's a family-run, perfectly decent Italian restaurant and well worth a visit if you're in the area. We both had pasta dishes, one seafood, one chicken and both were tasty and well cooked. Italian beer to drink and very pleasant, friendly service. I think the family running it had just taken it over recently. I wish them all the best.

Phoned to place an order for collection, a very rude lady didn’t even let me finish speaking, obviously had enough orders for tonight will not even be trying here need to brush up on people skills manners cost nothing !!

I was treated to an early evening meal with family for my birthday. The staff wore masks ;the whole place was hygienically immaculate . The lovely woman and young man who served us went out of their way to ask if everything was ok. They catered for a vegan member of the group making a veggie pizza but didn't have a wide range of vegan food - plenty for vegetarians. The food was served in good time and looked all homemade, not microwaved but cooked fresh. The sirloin steak looked incredible and cooked to individual preference. The seafood dishes were delicious, and the calzone was HUGE ,everything cooked to perfection. We couldn't eat all the food that was served but had a good try, generous portions. Reasonable priced drinks. Good time had by our small group. This is our 2nd time and we will be back for sure.

Starters were OK, however mains were small and lasagne was very dry with little sauce. Tiramasu was 2cm x 2cm for £5.25. I've never complained about food before but felt I had to say how disappointed I was with the size of the desert, I'm not greedy but it was 2 mouthfuls. I was told that was it and I don't think she appreciated my commenting. The lad who served us was really nice, but I wouldn't go back, far better food and service can be had elsewhere.

Raining, Covid lunch needed. Just dropped in. Only customers initially which was no surprise given the weather and situation. Friendly welcome, lovely food, and three happy teenagers. Good value for money. Would go again.

Had the 3 course Sunday lunch today. Could not fault it, good portion of starters, large portion of roast dinner with separate veg, all piping hot. Lovely friendly staff, fantastic value for money and would highly recommend it.All for £9.95!. Returning next Thursday for an authentic Italian meal.

Not sure if this is the norm but very little open Sunday evening. Food was very nice and reasonably priced. The waitress was attentive. However, more attention could have been paid to the cleanliness of the restaurant.

A very average meal although we were all expecting something better. Service was good and hopefully food will get better following lockdown after Covid 19. Considering the quality of meal, it was overpriced. Shall not be going there again.

We went for our Sunday lunch and it was delightful. We had friends with us and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Large portions and remarkable value at 10£ for three courses. Give it a go.

We were staying locally in a holiday cottage and finding out that the restaurant served Gluten Free dishes we booked a table for 4.On entering the restaurant we were walmly welcomed and shown to our table.After ordering drinks and perusing the menu our order was taken in a reasonable amount of time by a very friendly staff member.We all had different starters of garlic mushrooms and bread , salmon and baby prawns with creme cheese , garlic flavoured potato skins - plentiful! Plus a scallop dish all 4 were delicious.Main courses were all delicious two different steak dishes a chicken dish and a pasta dish - no room for deserts!A great meal enjoyed by all a convivial atmosphere and great value to boot! Followed by a stroll to the cottage.I am from Amble originally from two large Amble families and would recommend the restaurants to friends and families alike !!

How often do we accept poor service because they are busy.Waited 35 minutes to have our order taken, and were very close to walking out.Ended up ditching our first choice for starter and main course, for basic uncomplicated dish that could be served quickly.Free token garlic bread whilst we waited.Would we go back, unlikely, which is sad because we are locals, nor would we recommend to friends and family.Management should staff up when they have the bookings, rather than take the maximum profit.This only impacts on long term reputation and repeat business.

We had booked the table well in advance but when we arrived no reserved table was present( just a small point!)We had booked the taxi well in advance but it failed to turn up at all , so I had to drive to and from the restaurant , which limited my wine intake ( a pity really as I was looking forward to sampling the good wines on offer!). Taxi = G&R TAXISThe restaurant was busy ( it was a THURS night) and the waiters were very attentive and pleasantI had mussels to start ( delicious) and my wife had king prawns ( delicious)For mains I had Chicken Aristo= with king and small prawns in a delicious tomato and sea food sauce, I had chips also ( OK)My wife had Chicken Stroganov- I tasted it- it had a thick tasty sauce, she had chips also We both shared home made onion rings and mixed veg as side ordersUnfortunately, we could only have a large glass each of red wine , as I was driving !!( see above reason)Had an interesting chat with the lady waitress , who came from Milan ( where we had visited in the pastIn all a great night

Went here on Sunday for our lunch. The four of us had different meals and they were all delicious. Beef lamb,belly pork all cooked very well and plenty of it as well with a bowl of veg each. Absolutely fantastic value for money, I had garlic mushrooms starter and tiramasu dessert. One last thing to mention is the service which is absolutely first class and ever so friendly! All in all this is a wonderful place to visit for Sunday lunch. Would definitely recommend.

I was dining on my own and was made to feel really welcome! I had a huge plate of fettuccine with fillet steak strips and it was delicious. The food was reasonably priced and delicious!

Decided to try here because rossini was closed ...the food we had was ok as nothing exciting ...mushrooms and lasagna i had were nice ..wife pate she said was not homemade and clearly bought in from supermarket ?(she knows her pate )...her steak was full of grissle and did mention to the waitress and she just said ok..side salad had no dressing or very little(limp salad) ...i know it was a Monday night but place was empty and no atmosphere it might be different on a weekend ..would we go back id probably say no .

We had a very tasty meal at La Famiglia this evening. Both dishes, fillet stroganoff and a chicken risotto were excellent. Happy to recommend and we will be visiting again. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Been here 3 times in the last couple of months...twice at evening and once for Sunday lunch and every time it has been absolutely spot on...the Sunday lunch at £9.99 per person is outstanding value...without doubt the best all round restaurant in Amble at present

Visited here with a family ranging from early 20s to late 70s and the food catered to everyone’s needs. With a good selection of dishes to chose from to satisfy all tastes.

visited restaurant with my husband and friends. I ordered my starter off specials board .....haggis and black pudding in a Diane sauce ....it was to die for ...one of the nicest starters I've Eva had . The meal was fantastic and service was great ....staff very friendly . can't wait to return .

We went for Sunday dinner, great chef serving wonderful fresh and flavourful food. All the serving staff are friendly professionals that deserve to be commended. There are now a lot of nice places to eat in Amble and this place is our new favourite.

Friends were visiting so we headed here for lunch ....their first visit...Very friendly welcome by staff....she remembered from a previous visit that I had a dairy- free diet... good selection to choose from on the menu.....our 'starters'- olives,soup,focaccia- came promptly and were delicious. We moved onto pasta/lasagna....again good portions and well cooked....only one of us managed a dessert!

Our group all had the early bird specials, plenty of choice on the menu with 3 courses for £9.95 all beautifully cooked and deliscious, the house rose' wine was also good. The staff were friendly and efficient, will definitely be back 😚

23 of us descended upon La Famiglia for lunch today although we had booked! Nice restaurant with pleasant and efficient staff. Food was delicious and extremely well presented, plus it was reasonably priced. We were rather crowded around the table as there were so many of us but that is my only reservation. The penne matriciana was delicious with just the right amount of garlic and chilli. I don't live in this area but if I did I'd certainly return! Thank you to the chef and waiting staff for a very enjoyable lunch.

Been a couple of times since the ownership changed, there is now more room, it has a better menu, staff are good and prices are reasonable. The only downside is that it is cold inside, that's why we haven't been back

We popped in here for a meal on Saturday having not been in since it changed hands. The specials board was interesting and varied and the squid and prawns was superb. My main course from the specials was a beautifully cooked chicken dish and my wife sttoganoff was lovely. The service was fantastic and the whole place was faultless in cleanliness and presentation. Just visited this restaurant and had the 3 course Sunday lunch special. Great value for money and very nice food. Found the portions to be very generous, we were even asked if we would like any more vegetables, gravy etc. Had garlic mushrooms for a starter they we very tasty other half had potato skins which were very crispy. Had lamb for our main, very nice with a very tasty gravy. Both of us had tiramusi for dessert and it was delicious. Very relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff, will definitely return.

Took my family for a meal for my sons 18th birthday he was looking forward to the meal as he's not a typical 18 year old on the drink. All i can sat £126 wasted 1 meal was OK lasagna had bay leaves left in which should have been taken out f fillet steak madalions supposed to have 3 no only one and 2 end bits for 23 pound disgraceful offered to replace but did not want a repeat of burnt fillet scraps they offered a slice of cake each as compensation didn't even get that gave us 1 cake for a £126 A rubbish meal traditional Italian no one was Italian who works there, don't waste your money and time

Tasty takeaway from this restaurant which is one of the Old Boathouse group. Genuine authentic Italian and very friendly staff. We paused outside the restaurant when out for a walk from our holiday home and a member of staff came out and gave us a menu, Very helpful and this definitely contributed to us going there tonight for a pizza and pasta takeaway to bring back to our house, Very well presented for a takeaway and very enjoyable. Thank you.

Had an amazing meal. The food and service was outstanding. I would highly recommend, far superior to the appalling Italians up the road!! Well done guys keep up the good work.

Booked a table for 7.30 a week in advance. Arrived and felt like we were not expected? Sat for 25 mins before we were offered drinks and felt forgotten about?

Just had an early birds meal with a friend to celebrate our birthdays. Fantastic food at a fabulous £9.95 for three courses. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back soon!

We visited today on the way home from Beadnell and were not disappointed! We paid £9.95 for three courses and the food was delicious: garlic mushrooms to start, pork belly Sunday lunch followed by tiramisu! We couldn't fault it! The staff were friendly and the restaurant immaculate! We'd definitely recommend!

Had a very poor meal - pizza undercooked and swimming in oil - returned it but had no time to have it remade : hubby took his out in a box and threw it away ...... wrote to the management for comments - was ignored : will not return or recommend
