La Dolce Vita in Eastleigh

Had been recommended this Italian by a local for a family birthday. Greeted warmly by restaurant staff, water on arrival, attentive service. Unfortunately we were next to a table that various suited/booted parents dropped 9 of their free-range charges with a handful of timid 'grown-ups' whilst en route to the Club, I suspect. Food was excellent, the staff was amazing dodging these young teenagers leaving chairs untucked in the staff's wake whilst they slammed toilet doors, daring each other to run in the kitchen and generally getting under people's feet. When they did sit down, volume control was clearly not in their gifts. Thought the restaurant staff did an excellent job at trying to make our meal an enjoyable experience despite the crèche like conditions other diners had developed. Would definitely go back but perhaps on a school night when hopefully these youths are not there. The restaurant was far from a let down but the locals certainly were.

We had a lovely meal last night with an excellent bottle of chianti. I had pasta a la Pietro and my husband had pasta a la marinara and we shared a side salad. The meal was superb and the service excellent as always. This is my favourite restaurant in this area and we visit every time we come to Hamble. I can highly recommend a visit if you like Italian food as it is exceptional.

Six of us enjoyed a great meal yesterday evening with very friendly and efficient service. Would certainly go back again when in the area.

Excellent choice for an evening meal. Really generous portion sizes, great prices and really nice feel to it. Plus a lovely walk around Hamble after, so location is great too (equally, it's right next to the car park so also easy to find). Will be comeback for sure!

We booked at short notice and they were able to accommodated us despite being busy. As it was so hot we weren’t overly hungry, so ordered a salad for one and asked for 2 plates. When salad arrived they had already split it onto 2 plates. Beautifully presented and it was lovely and fresh. Would definitely eat here again. Staff were so friendly and helpful.

On Friday morning we booked a table for two, window location for Saturday at 7.00pm and were looking forward. We arrived at 6.45 and could see our table was occupied. We went for a drink locally and returned at 7,15 our pre booked table was still occupied and the occasion ruined. We left

We visited the restaurant on Sunday evening, got greeted by very friendly and warming staff. Food arrived very efficiently and was delicious, the beef stroganoff on the specials tasted amazing. Very generous portions, couldn’t leave without dessert of course. Would definitely recommend!!!

We called in yesterday for an early dinner, on spec having only decided to go to Hamble at the last minute. We were warmly greeted by the staff who made us most welcome. Best pizza dough ever. Pasta cooked perfectly. Home made deserts to die for. Wine just right. This is what a restaurant should be, relaxing and the staff (especially Annie) makes you feel valued and happy. Our first visit will not be our last.

Spur of the moment family get together we popped in to see if they could seat 8 of us without a booking and they simply couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming! The waitress was genuinely lovely and did everything she could to make our evening special without being in any way intrusive. The food was delicious!! ..generous portions as other reviewers have mentioned and great quality. The general ambiance is relaxed and cosy. We had a great time and look forward to visiting again when we are in Hamble.

My wife and I had a fantastic evening in this beautiful restaurant. I ordered the steak and it was like a party on the palate! I would go as far as to say that it’s the nicest steak that I have ever had in my 40 years and counting. The meal was faultless, the wine sumptuous and the service was outstanding. We hope to visit again very soon and we’re so pleased that you are still in Hamble!

I enjoyed my freshly cooked meal of brushetta then fillet steak on the evening of Sat 3rd Oct very much. The staff were welcoming, attentive and flexible.Covid measures in place included a sign in book, staff mask wearing, cutlery arriving in a tray & a sign turning system to ensure only one in each toilet at a time.I was very surprised there was no NHS Covid-19 app QR code to check in to.I also felt anxious about these aspects:- the table layout concentrating larger groups closer together, towards the back, where the bar, kitchen & toilets are also situated, while it looked spacious towards the front.- loud, gusty singing of Happy Birthday by a group of 4 lads, encouraged by the staff, with lights down, candles etc and enthusiastically joined in with by other customers and staff, including the chef. - several tables of 4 being placed on a 1m square table.Understanding it's difficult to balance fun atmosphere with safety, I'd say this is probably one for those less at risk at the moment.

Went for dinner. Spaghetti bolognaise was not as good as a home made one we recently made. Was disappointed as I was expecting a top class signature dish (as the restaurant is Italian). Partners meal was ok.

Visited La Dolce Vita for a valentines meal, absolutely amazing food& service, welcomed with smiles, excellent service by the 3 lovely waitresses who were on that night:)had the bruschetta to start, more than enough! Had the cannelloni for main, delicious!! Partner had the Bolognese, scrumptious.. then on top the chocolate fudge for desert.. definitely left more than satisfied! Great atmosphere and friendly owner and full of friendly customers, got chatting to the table next to us.. reasonable prices for the amount you get, big portions! 100% will be back soon:)

I haven't eaten at the restaurant for a while and haven't changed my mind about it. The pasta dish was uninteresting and there was only 3 prawns in it and a small amount of fish. It is still a noisy place.

We visited with a group of friends recently. Food was lovely, really good portions and lots of choice (although gluten free was quite limited to pasta or salad - restaurant should look at Pizza or garlic bread options)We tried a couple of the red wines and they weren’t great to be honest but prosecco was nice. The tables are quite close together so there’s not a great deal of space around you which is a little off putting. Service was really slow though, we were in there nearly 3 hours and had to keep asking to place orders for food. Luckily the food was really nice when it arrived so it’s definitely worth a visit although I’d let them know when you arrive that you need to be out relatively quickly!

First there attitude sit where you want no heat so we kept our coats on and went for a radiator to be told it’s not working sparkling water put on table serve yourself garlic bread much the same. I chose mussels food good but no finger bowl so very messy fingers. The table next to us had a kids party arrive so no more conversation for us we got the bill and left coats still on and got in the car to warm up. Memorable evening for all the wrong reasons

The waiters were very friendly and the dishes surprisingly delicous.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed with a huge smile. A lovely lady who single handedly commandeered the restaurants busy front of house. Her effortless charismatic control over the entire establishment oozed experience and was impressive to say the least. Her ability to acknowledge and strengthen relationships with regulars as well as build rapport with newcomers created a relaxed atmosphere that immediately put us at ease. I knew from being surrounded by people having a good time that we were in good hands.We ordered the Calamari Fritti (to share) A true test! As all Calamari lovers know, this is a dish that annoyingly varies significantly from restaurant to restaurant and can often result in a small portion of expensive greasy let down. The Calamari Fritti at La Dolce Vita did not disappoint! It was generous in portion size, had great taste and texture (not rubbery) The batter was wonderfully light and not greasy, and quite frankly it was delicious! The only thing that could’ve made it better is to have eaten it by the sea on a hot summers day, but that’s not their fault, I definitely booked a table at 8pm in October! I personally would’ve preferred an aioli or tartare sauce rather than the sweet chilli sauce it came with but that’s my preferential taste and I’m sure if I would’ve asked, they would’ve accommodated my request as they serve tartare sauce with their Whitebait.Ok, so despite being advised on multiple occasions to try their steak we thought we’d do pizza’s this time and conquer pastas next time (Nothing to do with a current promotion or anything lol!) I had the Diavlo, an Italian equivalent to perhaps the more commonly known ‘American Hot’ that you may find at a takeaway dedicated franchise. The pizza was a good size and more than enough for 1 person (I’d say the size of a dinner plate) it had a thin, crispy base and a wonderfully raised crunchy crust. Although this particular choice of pizza only has a few toppings, they were generously spread and of a very high quality. The meat was similar to a rich spicy smoked Calabrian pork sausage or Chorizo/Nduja and the onions and chillis were crunchy and fresh. The additional chilli oil placed on the table was a nice touch and I’d welcome the option of a garlic oil or garlic dip for the crusts.I also tried my wifes vegetarian Calzone which was like a big hug on a plate, a generously filled Italian pastry pillow. Definitely a cosy winter warmer and a great veggie option.We opted for the New Zealand Marlborough, a Sauvignon blanc which was clean, crisp and fresh, with hints of passionfruit, lychee, and gooseberry. The high acidity was perfect for cutting through the richness of the pizza cheese and the Calamari batter. The wine glasses were clean and the wine was served nice and cold.We were too full for dessert however the options looked enticing (almost as enticing as the Limoncello the table opposite were having!) We also appreciated the classics such as ‘Tiramisu’ being on the dessert menu.Why on earth did we wait 2 years to try La Dolce Vita?! From it’s buzzing atmosphere overshadowing it’s humble decor to it’s wonderful food and friendly staff. La Dolce Vita is a restaurant run with passion and skill, celebrating the beauty of classic Italian simplicity delivered through high quality ingredients, traditional methods and efficient service. it’s safe to say we’ll be coming back. We’ve heard the steaks are amazing and we’re also tempted by the Linguine Marinara. The fact they’re always busy would imply that they are uncompromising in their standards which has resulted in a consistency that their customers have not only come to rely on but keep coming back for. Good food, good wine, good company, you can’t get any more Italian than that! Well-done guys, or should I say ‘Bravo!’PS: I booked a table (as advised) by leaving a voicemail on their landline. First time I have visited this restaurant and I now regret not going sooner !! Visited La Dolce Vita on a Sunday evening with my partner (but please note we were told through winter they close on Sundays)Lovely chilled atmosphere and ambience, with a couple of groups , families and couples also dining was very welcoming and suitable for all . Staff were very efficient and noticed when we were low on drinks and ready to pay . Food tasted extremely fresh and cooked just right and unlike any chain Italian restaurant the portion sizes were a decent size. Can’t wait to visit again !!! compliments to the chefs.

Had another great meal with friends we had bruschetta and olives to start then fresh prawns in a garlic and chilli butter sauce for main we had beef ragu with tagliatelle it was all delicious! You cannot fault this restaurant also great friendly service we will be going back very soon :)

We were in Hamble camping. Having arrived after work on Friday we popped onto the village for a beer. Hamble is lovely and we perhaps stayed longer than planned. As We passed La Dolce Vita we asked of dogs were Ok. Yes we were in. The dog got some water which O immediately kicked over the floor. Not a problem. The staff were excellent. My wife and I shared a starter which was excellent and enough for her. I had the Meatball Calzone it was also excellent. I’d totally recommend this restaurant.

This is my second visit to La Dolce Vita and again the food was excellent served by friendly staff, a really nice experience, thank you. The food portions are more than substantial to say the least, very impressive and worth a visit.

Returned to Dolce Vita recently and was very impressed. Haven’t been for a while and now I will be back lots in the future. Good service and superb food. Massive portions and good Italian flavours. Would recommend to all.

Ate here once. Very noisy. The tomato+basil item, well basil must have gone away on holiday. Dont get me started on the potatoes, they were as hard as bullets, perhaps not quite that hard.

Having had a break from the restaurant we decided to revisit with friends last night. We had a great meal and service. The owner took the time to talk with us about his restaurant which was very welcomed. Having had such a great time and maybe finding a new favourite Pizza (the Budgie) we will certainly be returning customers. I can also Recommend the Calamari.

WOW ! What a fantastic place to eat. The staff were so warm and friendly and was impressed with the way that nothing was too much trouble.

Service was average, Risotto was half cooked and very sticky, but the wine is good and the reastaurant quite busy.

Having checked the website before we made the journey to confirm the restaurant was open for lunch, we arrived to find an "Open" sign on the door but everything locked up. Closer inspection of the signs in the window revealed that they apparently no longer opened for lunch, only for evening meals. UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE TO AVOID DISAPPOINTED CUSTOMERS!

We returned to La Dolce Vita again a few nights ago. The Pizza was perfect and the Avocado Valentino Salad was good too. The service was as friendly as always. I look forward to going back soon.

There were 10 of us who went for dinner for our xmas get together. We all ordered before we went. The meals came out together, all very hot and very tasty.

We visited for dinner mid week. Restaurant almost empty, should have been a clue.

We decided to eat locally so we could treat our son and girlfriend who were down from London. We do not eat locally as a rule but decided to on this occasion as our son recommended the restaurant. We were not disappointed from the time we walked in to the time we walked out. Good portions with a lovely taste to the food, and excellent service and reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend.

We visit this restaurant regularly, because the food is excellent, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming, and it`s within walking distance from home!

Had a family birthday meal here again and can not fault a single thing! My steak was cooked to perfection with an amazing cheese sauce and very generous portion sizes all round.We were all impressed with the desserts lovely tiramisu and creme brulee (could tell they were made fresh no pre made rubbish)As usual the staff were very friendly and kept our glasses full :) Can't wait till next time

After a day sailing four of us were very hungry and managed to reserve a table. The staff were very welcoming and the service was excellent. We all enjoyed our meals, even though we ordered too much (eyes bigger than belly) as hungry! Lovely atmosphere and will definitely be back when we return to Hamble on our next visit.

We came here on a Saturday night and although the restaurant was packed, they found a table for us. There seemed to be only 2 overworked wait staff in the place and I mean it was crowded! The service consequently was very slow as was the food service. However, we all enjoyed our pizzas when they eventually arrived. Also the Caesar salad.

Absolutely fantastic! We have been looking for a good Italian restaurant with outstanding food, service and atmosphere and found it in Hamble. I had the tagliatelle carbonara and my sister had the seafoood pasta. Both were outstanding, the best we have both ever had. For an appetizer, we split the Brie with Parma ham which was easily enough for two. As a special touch, they split the appetizer onto two plates. Thank you La Dolce Vita! We'll be back!

Went into la Dolce Vita last Saturday night. Prawns wrapped in filo as a starter followed by one of the best fillet steak I've had. Dolcelotte sauce was good but maybe to naturally salty. Great night

We went here Friday evening while in Hamble and popped in to see if they had a table available as it was very busy.After a few minutes they found us a table and served our wine and without asking a jug of water.Good menu and specials on offer service was very good even though restaurant was full, food was tasty and hot.only one thing I would say is there is not much space between tables but still a very nice evening. Fantastic evening had by all on Saturday evening, even being part of a table 12! The large quantity made no difference to the food quality, time that it took for our meal to come and service. Our starter arrived within 15 minutes, followed by our mains 30minutes later. It was a Saturday evening after all, which anyone dining out on a weekend evening, not to mention such a busy, vibrant place like the la dolce vita!..... should expect! The food was second to none, everyone in our party throughly enjoyed their dishes! The banoffee is to die for! A truly brilliant night, with a fantastic atmosphere. We will 100% be returning!

Decided to go to Hamble for the night with my 4 friends and no where had a table for 6 available so we tried La Dolce Vita and they managed to accommodate us. We enjoyed the LDV platter which had calamari, brie, whitebait, olives and bruschetta which was sensational. We all had different pizzas and they were probably the best we have ever had. Very relaxed atmosphere, great service and it comes highly recommended.

I visited this restaurant as it was recommended by friends ! We went for my husbands birthday and the reception we got from the staff was fantastic ! Very welcoming and friendly ! There was a great choice of menu including fresh fish... hubby had a steak which was with some sauce on the side. He said it melted in his mouth... I had a pizza and having visited Italy last year I would say that the pizza was better than I got in Italy. So very well worth a visit, I shall certainly be booking this for my birthday next month...

Sat in restaurant for over 1hr waiting for main course. Ordered a calzone, when it arrived it was freezing cold like it had been defrosted but not cooked. When I complained it was taken away with no apology. I then had to sit through the meal whilst I watched my friends eat their dinner. I had no dinner - the staff did not care or offer me any thing else. Think of my experience if you plan on coming here. Won't be coming back.

If you visit Hamble on a boat or just to come see our lovely Village there is no where better to eat than La Dolce Vita known to us locals as The Dodgy! Chris the host always has a welcome smile and his staff are great. There's food for every choice and they will cater to individual needs if you ask. I've taken my parents, friends from out of town and frequently eat there with my local friends. Ok It's not like the top London restaurants I used to eat at but the food is good and the ambience even better.

I organised a social/fundraising evening for 38 people yesterday. I arranged a four course meal (with 3 choices) and I'm delighted at how well the evening went! Really lovely food with excellent presentation for all 38! Super friendly service and the feedback so far has been very good.Considering the restaurant was full, the way the tables were served was just great. So, La Dolce Vita is a small ish Italian restaurant outside of Southampton located in Hamble-le-rice. Its food is straightforward and fairly tasty - service is good - and all reasonably priced. What's to dislike? Nothing I can think of... Would I go back - well, I've been a number of times and will be returning again soon. Enjoy.

We visited this restaurant with some friends. The menu is varied and well priced. We only had one slight criticism...the portions are way too big! The Calamari starter is more than enough for 2 and we are all big eaters! The Risotto main course again was about double the portion you would get elsewhere. This is very generous of course and the food is hot, tasty and well garnished, but as people who really enjoy our desserts too, we were disappointed that we were unable to tackle one. Wines were very good too.

A great resturant with delightful food very well served. Calamari and fillet steak Diane washed down with a bottle of Amoroni is a must !

After visiting la dolce vita with my family, I felt I just had to leave a review. La dolce vita are absolutely second to none. The food was incredibly tasty, fantastic large portions, and served with that extra special care. It was quite evident that the chef took much pride in the appearance and presentation of his dish. Not only was the food delicious, but the restaurant staff were able to accommodate my son's gluten and dairy free diet, without hesitation. The waiting staff were all very friendly and fantastic with my young children.The Restaurant was a 5* experience for our family. After traveling around and visiting many restaurants, I can safely say La dolce vita is up there with the top! Thank you La dolce vita for such an amazing evening. We will be back!!!!

I have visited this restaurant when it has been packed and when it has been quiet but it makes no difference in the quality of food served. If you want a full stomach, then you will be filled to content, but expect nothing special. Nothing much to talk about and it will not give you the Dolce Vita feeling. Good for parties though.

La Dolce Vita lives on. We first went there over 20 years ago, and were pleased to see it still exists when we revisited Hamble recently. It is still popular, and the food is OK, if a little expensive. It has a lot of competition from all of the local public houses, so we hope it will continue to vary its menu and keep the customers wanting to come back.

Typical independent style Italian restaurant with great pasta and pizza and excellent fish and steaks. Chris the owner is really hands on and it is a great place for a quite chat or a loud celebration. Very popular with the sailing community in Hamble.

Packed on a Saturday night, like everywhere else in Hamble. But they managed to find us a table. Lots of big parties and families enjoying an evening out, giving it a very Italian feel. Excellent seafood linguine, with lots of clams, mussels, prawns. A great place for refuelling after a day at sea!

We called in quite late in the evening and were treated with a smile and taken to a nice table for two. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday evening. We ordered drinks and olives while we worked our way through what we would like to order. The staff were very helpful at answering any questions and accommodated us by changing a few dishes slightly. The food when it arrived was very good and a good portion size - glad we had not had a starter! We left well fed and very happy. Thank you.

We ate in Dolce Vita on Friday night with another couple. The atmosphere was relaxed but also quite buzzy at the same time. The service was really good, no fuss made when we asked if we could have a bit more time between the starter and the main course. The food was excellent. When we had dessert one of the desserts was to his taste despite asking a specific question. It had been removed from the bill without us even asking. The waiting staff were very good, there when you needed them but not in your face.

We usually always go to a local curry restaurant when we're down in the Hamble but for a change we went to La Dolce Vita even though I'm not a huge fan of pasta. I'm glad we had a change as it was great! We went with our 5 year old & 21 month old & reserved a table with high chair. Without needing to ask we were offered a tea spoon and extra bowl to give the little one food - something so simple but always something I have to request in any restaurant! He was also offered paper & pen which kept him amused too. Between us we had the garlic bread with cheese, calamari, tagliatelle carbonara and I had the steak and chips. We all enjoyed and finished our meals and it really filled up quite quickly after opening. Staff were efficient and friendly and we'll definitely be back! Thank you!

My girlfriend and I weren't blown away by the food but found it to be tasty and plentiful.The sea bass and bolognese were cooked very well but the seasonal vegetables as a side were a little underwhelming.Service was good.

Had a lovely meal here before setting off for the weekend sailing across to Cowes - fish was amazing as were the starters - mozzarella with Parma ham - mmmm.

Lovely Italian restaurant on the village square with authentic Italuan cuisine. Good service, good food and well located for yachtsmen and villagers alike. Nice intimate atmosphere. You'll not be disappointed.

Visited Tuesday evening without a reservation and we were accommodated without a problem. Rioja was our wine of choice. Good choice! It was very smooth and easy to drink. We shared bruschetta and olives with feta cheese. Thoroughly enjoyed both appetisers but I've got to say that the bruschetta was exceptional! Followed with two pasta dishes. I had spaghetti marinara and my husband had chicken,olive and mushroom tagliatelle. Portions were large! Service was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we will return.

La Dolce Vita is a really nice small Italian. The homes cooked food (we had linguini and Bolognese) was excellent and so were the drinks.The staff were very friendly and the pricing was great.

This is a small'sh restaurant with a relaxed, casual atmosphere. The food was all freshly cooked and very tasty too!! Good portion sizes and not expensive at all. A lovely meal - thanks! :)
