La Cuisine at The Pump House in Belfast

The previous reviewer didn’t even try the food or even ask the staff to make anything. If they had of they would have known that they cater to you, the *Specials* are on the board. The menu in the morning isn’t extensive because you wouldn’t waste a whole load of food for no reason! During Covid they had to adapt and rearrange the whole establishment! The food is super, I mean we haven’t worked in the area for 5 years and still make the trip up on days off or when passing.. that’s how good the food and staff are. As it’s a sandwich bar, it isn’t a restaurant — it’s perfect for grab and go or there are four high tops available to eat on premise! Remember Covid happened and businesses adjusted to keep serving the public. The Pump House didn’t let us down the whole pandemic! Ignore this Negative Nelly who didn’t even try the food before complaining and clearly didn’t ask! Staff have always been accommodating too me and others I know, guess it’s all in your personality! I’m off for a full bap this morning and hopefully a Jammie joey.. served with a coffee! My OB is off for Scrambled Eggs and Toast! M

The menu shown on line is not what was available, a chalk board with four items, was told they did scones but they didn't have any! Left with no breakfast ti go else where, if you go here expecting to choose to an extensive menu, don't bother you'll be disappointed.

One of our favourite sandwich shop! Great for lunch. The soup and sandwich deal is brilliant, don’t think they have ever made a soup I don’t like, and I am a picky eater!

Full marks, with COVID difficulties the Pump House is putting on a sterling job. Straight off the boat open at 7am breakfast bap with hot drink £5, absolutely tasty bargain. Seating outside, which they hope to enlarge and put heaters out to encourage more custom. Hope to be able to sit in when these hard times end.

Ordered and waited for quite a while ( too long) for soup and pre-packed sandwiches and a toastie. Seemed strange as the place was far from busy. Food was instantly forgettable. Pretty average stuff and definitely not anything special or delicious. Staff were friendly and pleasant. The area we used was clean. No clue why it’s called the pump house. Yes, lots of pipes on the ceiling going nowhere. Strange. Cost ok at approx £6 per person but portions of chips are minimal. Would not return if you paid me to.

Food here is amazing. Friendly staff. Lovely decor. Always head for here when I’m in Belfast. Clean & extremely busy. Reasonably priced. There aren’t any negatives for this place

Decided to treat myself to pancakes as it was pancake day. Had 3 pancakes and 3 slices of bacon. Pancakes were good size (approx 6inch diameter) and fried (had option of toasting). Both pancakes and bacon cooked to perfection. Price a little higher than expected but still very reasonable.

Ate here a few times and it nice food served quickly and not too expensive. Food arrives quickly and is tasty

This place is lovely inside. Clean & looks freshly refurbished. With more seating upstairs. When I come to Belfast I look out for this place on my way back to the ferry. Friendly staff & nice food. If I didn’t drive past this on my way back to the ferry. I would turn around & go find it

I have been visiting here almost every month for the last 4 years! I travel over for work and always enjoy my breakfast, service is great and friendly, prices for a very nice breakfast and coffee are reasonable. 100% recommend!

The building has been very carefully restored and is interesting, airy and comfortable. I went for a crispy, smoked duck breast (cooked slightly rare) on a bed of rice with sweet chilli sauce plus a small pot of chunky fries. Judging by the queues and the full tables this is a very popular place for lunch and it definitely deserves to be. There was a gent constantly clearing plates, cleaning and making sure you had everything you wanted. There are 3 small improvements I would make: 1) install more plug sockets 2) have free WiFi 3) offer artisan coffee - my cup was typical café coffee - a bit watery/milky. Otherwise keep up the great work I really enjoyed the visit :The only negatives

in Duncrue area for plumbing fittings and spied Pump House. It was 11.30 so we decided to try it for a late breakfast/early lunch. we used downstairs area - all high stools which i don't normally like but they were surprisingly comfortable. it had the impression of a well run, busy, very clean small cafe. beautifully written menu boards so no surprises with prices which were perfectly acceptable anyhow. the waiting staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful and soon the place started filling up - as someone else said with 'suited and booted' alongside coveralls. we chose a large stew each. it was really hot, very filling and quite delicious. the coffee was good too £12.00 in total and well worth the money. as i had never heard or seen of the place before i looked at the reviews and was amazed. the poor reviews just don't ring true - its too busy and well organised for that. I watched for the 'nasty man' and saw him scurrying from kitchen to front of house, amiably smiling and speaking with customers including me. i would suggest to anyone that you take note of the positive reviews and the fact that the place is hiving with customers - who returns time after time if service is bad and staff unpleasant? In addition to a wide range of sandwiches and. breakfast/lunch stuff there are tray bakes (all made on site) to die for. Aall in all a very pleasant 3/4 hour and if we are nearby again we will be back.

Husband always talked about this place, so we gave it a go when we had our staycation. We each got the lunchtime deal of soup, sandwiche and bottle of water for £5 each. It was really nice. Sandwiche crust was a bit hard, but I dunked it into my soup. Soup was seasoned just enough. There is very limited seating upstairs and we were lucky to get a seat.

El chip van 50 183 metros más arriba de la carretera es de 3 libras. 50 Por doble doble y tocino saus un huevo. Sólo una vez ha estado aquí antes de esta visita, que es la última. . . Unos cuantos del trabajo y yo visitamos el bombeo en un viernes a la hora del almuerzo. Pedí un rollo de ensalada de pollo, pensando que no podría posiblemente desorden y que era una opción. Yo estaba equivocado, lo que salió fue 4 trozos de pollo seco duro, con una "ensalada", lo que implicaba un algunas cosas de ensalada rocket, no mantequilla, sin mayonesa, estaría así comer cartón. Mi colega también tenían el mismo pensamiento de pedir algo sencillo, ella pidió un sandwich de queso tomate un, pero terminamos con una sandwich de queso y cebolla, 2 rellenos y que de alguna manera equivocada. Si lo que buscas son comida de conejo, pésimo servicio, cuestionable carne entonces la bomba de la casa está justo en su calle. Me gustaría recalcar, estarías mejor hambrientos a la hora del almuerzo o comer tu propio portátil en vez de ir aquí.

Llamé para almorzar y pregunté qué había en oferta para los Celiacos, a lo que la respuesta fue ¡Patatas fritas! No pude decirme si alguno de los platos estaba libre de gluten y cuando me preguntaron acerca de las gambas en mayonesa, inicialmente me dijeron que la mayonesa tenía gluten hasta que el chef caminó por la parte de atrás y, a regañadientes, fue y me revisó para decirme que era Okay ! Servicio terrible y falta de educación en lo que suele ser una solicitud directa estos días. No regresará! Vergüenza

Llamamos aquí para un almuerzo rápido. Cada uno tenía un plato de sopa y un bocadillo recién hecho. La sopa estaba deliciosa, aunque me hubiera gustado un poquito más caliente. El bocadillo tenía mucho de abundante y el pan estaba muy fresco. El servicio fue muy rápido. Por £4. 50 cada uno, nos ofrecen una buena relación calidad-precio. No hay muchos asientos de abajo arriba, hay asientos extra.

Visitamos para el almuerzo con mi amigo. Poner orden en nuestro almuerzo, que incluía café y luego solicite un adicional de cristal de agua del grifo. Me dijeron que tenía que comprar una botella de agua. Traté de explicarle que tenía una condición médica, lo que significa que necesita beber agua con la comida. También me dijo que había una ley que requiere agua del grifo para ser servido (aunque esto en realidad sólo se aplica a restaurantes con licencia). Luego fuimos a la camarera y el dueño lo dijo repetidas y él salió para atacarnos a nosotros. Su actitud era exorbitante. Reclinó sobre el mostrador y me dijeron que tengo que revisar mis hechos y que no ofrecen un vaso de agua (aunque la compra de varios artículos de comida y bebida adicional). No hace falta decir que nos fuimos y no volveré. Un hombre enojado y desagradable dirigido este café y si él. Ant ofrecen un vaso de agua a alguien con una condición médica severa, entonces él no merece el encargo.

Fuimos de 21. 2. 17 y tenía una sandwichera más allá de repugnante. . . . . barato y desagradable que utilizaban un trozo de queso a las hamburguesas en la sandwichera y este sitio está destinado a ser un sandwich bar mercado. Cuando nos quejamos personal no ver esto como un problema. . . . . Un sandwich/. Tuve que re sandwichera no era mejor.

All fresh food served very quickly, perfect for someone who has only a short lunch window. Friendly staff and prices very reasonable, limited seating if you do not want to takeaway.

Sopa + combo sandwich y una galleta alemana. Comida deliciosa y fresca, con una gran taza de té.

Sandwiches and soup deal is well worth the price. The specials are great value but salads look tiny.

Don't know if I'm more angry or disappointed in the customer service I received as we eat here regularly. I ordered a salad box and was surprised at the portion size given that it cost £6.10, I queried the cost with a member of staff who said if I wasn't happy I could get my money back, and took the salad away. A few minutes later the owner stamped towards us and slammed the box on the table demanding what the problem was, I explained the problem he became more aggressive and shouted this is what you ordered and Refused to give me my money back. I left immediately and told him I would be making a review. He followed me out of the shop in a threatening manner and continued shouting at me. After this he made his way back to where the rest of my party were trying to finish their meal and demanded to know my name, they told him they were uncomfortable and were just trying to eat their food in peace, he said he is a person who takes no s&&t and continued to rant, they then left without finishing their food. Very unprofessional and unnecessary behaviour from an angry man!

Really good quality food, good choice and best of all a reasonable price. The staff are really pleasant and make you very welcome. I will certainly return soon.

The quality of the food here is just incredible for the money.Everything is fresh, cooked to order and pretty much home-made.Staff are pleasant and efficient - and the best bit... so many people don't even know it exists!

We had a few lunches leading up to the Xmas holidays and was highly impressed both times. The service is excellent and the meal is served fresh within minutes of ordering; from a typical Turkey & Ham dinner to soup and sandwiches all came out quickly and tasted great. It is a busy place at lunchtime so get there early and you will not be disappointed.

Hidden gem, service and food is absolutely brilliant, I love this place! Well worth a visit, and I'll certainly be back.

I have to confess to being a regular here over the last couple of years since I discovered it. Many years ago I would have been a regular in La Cuisine on the Antrim Rd The presentation of the food, the premises and service given by the staff are a credit to the staff and owner. Suited workers sit alongside the guys in their work overalls as well as casual callers with quality fresh food for all. Having a small bit of retail food experience in the past myself I know these people know how to do business so they will continue to have mine.... In all my work travels this is not your usual docks cafe...!!

Eat here yesterday. It's not in a location that you'd drive out to (as it's in an industrial estate) but, as another reviewer has mentioned, it's easily accessible by bike.Boringly, I decided to have a toasted sandwich, but it was really lovely: crispy brown bread, ham and cheese. The accompanying coffee was really nice.Not cheap (it was £4.75) but then people have to earn a living.I would definitely go back and would even cycle out to it on a nice day if I had the bike with me.

Stopped off yesterday while out on the cycling with the wife. Cycle path goes right past the front door. We had the soup and sandwich special (large). I had the Salt and Chilli Chicked sandwich which was gorgeous and my wife had the soup which according to her was one of the best she ever had. We also had a coffee each (good coffee as well) and a Caramel Square traybake which again was gorgeous. All for only £9.45. We will difinately be back.

I always come for lunch at least once every trip over. Friendly staff and the best fresh food I've had in ages. It's always busy and the daily specials are to die for. Just had the creamy potato and leek soup and it's probably the best I've ever had (sorry mum).

Bockground: I have been working in the Duncrue Estate for just over six months now and get my lunch from the Pump House almost everyday o I would like to believe my review is honest and reliable. Firstly, I would like to say I am shocked at the earlier reviews of this establishment. I am struggling to believe I am reading about the same place! The Pump House have always been as quick as they can with their orders, even at the height of their capacity. The staff are very friendly and helpful and are always willing to go the extra mile.Secondly, the quality of the food is second to none. I never used to eat soup and now I have a soup and a sandwich almost every time I visit! I don't think there is anything on the menu I wouldn't recommend. It simply is that good and consistently so, too.Thirdly, the atmosphere and fittings are excellent. The Pump House has a real warm atmosphere and buzz about it. Don't worry if you can't stay, they have an excellent take away service as well. Finally, in all my time eating in this establishment, I have never had a bad experience. It has been complete customer satisfaction; day in, day out.

I have passed this place many times before and never stopped. We had just bought a new bathroom suite (I don't know why I am telling you all this) and stopped off as we were hungry. It was about 2pm and the place was busy. I had battered sausages with potato wedges, curry sauce and peas (it went really well altogether) which was lovely. She had steak paninni with salad and coleslaw which was also lovely. The staff were friendly and polite and the food was served in about 5 minutes of ordering. You also have a takeaway option if you need to. Being in the docks area of Belfast I think it is one of the cities best kept secret and will certainly be back again. Hi Five ✋✋✋✋✋

I eat quite often at the Pump House for breakfast and lunch, and decided to take the family this morning for Breakfast. A warm welcome from all the staff and owner on arrival. The food was delicious as always!! Well cooked and great quality. We also took away some homemade tray bakes, German biscuits, on this occasion! A great feed for four adults and a child all for £26, I consider this amazing value. I am shocked at the negative reviews of the Pump House and would seriously call into question the validity of these reviews. I maybe felt I had to write this review as someone who eats out quite often, and in my 2 years of eating here regularly I have never been let down.

I was gobsmacked, the food was sensational. The quality of the food was beyond my wildest dreams, you wouldn't get food like this anywhere else.My partner, famous musician and actor, John Barrowman was also impressed and he usually eats in places that charge you £100+ for a bit of cheese. My favourite part about the Pump House is FREE FRY FRIDAYS!!!!!

The food here is not terrible, however it is not great either. Do not plan your meal around this place!

Absolutely appalled by the service received here. Ordered 2x goujon stacks and a soup, the soup was poured out and left to the side for well over 20 minutes and the goujon stacks came out nearly an hour later. When they finally came out to be given to me the girl that had taken the order was about to hand me the soup that had been sitting for over 20 minutes! I had to ask for fresh soup. Professional. Eventually arrived back to work and upon opening the £6 per portion "Goujon stack" was even more appalled by the mess that was thrown into the 2 boxes. I immediately called to speak with the manager / owner and was passed to the owner whom I now know as Gerard Maskey. I explained the case and was basically called a liar. He went on to say I was not waiting nearly an hour and that he wasn't interested in listening to me anymore and hung up. I have never been so dissatisfied and appalled with customer service and more shockingly by the owner! I would never visit this place again. And I would never recommend to anyone.

I went in to the pump house on one occasion and got a sandwich which is not what I ordered. The bread was not fresh either. On a second occasion I ordered a chicken goujon stack, when I got to my place of work I opened the box to find a nasty surprise. The salad was thrown in, the goujons were hard and burnt, the chips were omg, they were cold, hard and seemed not cooked properly. When I phoned to complain, the person on the phone was rude and ignorant to the fact that I had paid good money for terrible food, the food was presented dreadfully and tasted horrible. I'd certainly not recommend this place to anyone for the way they run their business. Not good at all!!!!
