La Cucina in Oxford

To get straight to the point, this place has an extraordinary Pizza Diavola! It's one of the best I've tried in quite some time and this says a lot about this restaurant. The gluten-free pizzas are also on par with their gluten counterparts. If you weren't a pizza addict like I am, I don't think that you would be able to notice the difference. The service is also excellent. The place looks quaint, while the waiting time is next to none. I don't think that even 10 minutes have passed since we placed our order and the food was already there. Lightning speed! As you might have guessed by know, if you're into pizza, this place is a must! A small observation though. I also tried the Tiramisu, but that one didn't impress me. It was ok, but I wouldn't order it again in the future.

Tasty food which came quickly. Great service and attentive staff. Especially thanks to our waiter (on table 25) who was lovely!

Staff are very friendly and there's a great atmosphere in the restaurant, however the food was quite average.

Best Italian food I've ever tasted

The 2 salads we ordered to share were awesome. I order the Tuscan salad, my wife the goat cheese salad we’re fresh, full of flavour and a nice mix for sharing. I had the lasagna, which was large enough for 2, but was so good, I finished it myself. My wife had the Penne alla Bolognese, and our daughter had the spaghetti carbonara, which they both really enjoyed. If you are looking for authentic Italian food in Oxford, look no further than La Cucina, you’d be hard pressed to find better.

Fantastic food, great value, nice people.

The food was good and the service was very attentive although it was noisy and, for me, difficult to communicate with other people on the table. £33 for two courses was on the high side although the food was of high quality and cooked well.

An absolute must if you come to visit Oxford and love Italian cuisine. Every meal looked delicious (and was, according to my colleagues), so I'll have to come back many times to eat myself through it all. A wonderful place, not to be missed.

Had a pizza in here and must say that it tastes ok. Don t get fooled by the name it doesn’t really resemble anything with an italian pizza. If you can buy one from a street vendor it will taste the same and save you some money

Having spent what feels like years wanting to come and try the food here, we finally booked a table. The starters were really really nice, and came out so fast, especially given that it was busy. The mains followed soon after, and both were well presented. The food is all freshly prepared and you can really tell they make it with love. Unfortunately on this occasion, my main lacked any real flavour to it, but the pasta itself was home made and very well cooked. The dessert was perfect, and I’m sure we will return to try something new on the menu! Glad to have found a trusty local Italian restaurant

Okay. You have to come there and ask for some fried pizza. You can't help but ask again. Light dough and dry frying, served with tomato sauce and cheese. You won't be able to do without it anymore.

Good quality lunchtime food( pizza and trout dish) , service OK however we were not shown or offered the specials board which we only noticed later when another customer was being served. Shame as dishes were appealing

A lovely and friendly Italian restaurant serving some fantastic food. Loads of pizzas and pasta dishes including a massive calzone! The pork chop with nduja, smoked cheese and mash (last Sunday's special) is delicious.

This has been our favourite Italian restaurant for many years. Lovely friendly welcoming staff, an excellent menu and delicious food, always interesting options on the Specials board. A great place for romantic occasions and for special family events.

We turned up quiet late but the staff were not pushy for our order even though the kitchen was closing soon. Food was excellent and staff very pleasant.

Great service. Shame about the food. The onion and tomato salad would benefit from salting the tomatoes beforehand, cutting out the tough central part of the tomato, and adding some olive oil to the dressing. The tomato sauce of the melanzane parmaggiana could have been cooked out a bit more. Lastly the panna cotta was quite solid and rubbery and overly sweet - perhaps a bit less gelatin and definitely did not need both a caramel sauce and amaretti biscuit. My partner liked the seafood risotto but commented that it contained one squid ring, two prawns and three mussels.

After looking at the 4.5 stars la cucina had I went ahead and ordered 2 pizzas. To thier credit toppings were quite generous. However this isn't necessarily a sign of a good restraunt especially when the cheese is clearly cheap packet mozzarella rather than fresh. The base was soggy and the tomato sauce was tastless

Tasty pizza, pleasant environment. I was here about 3 times in total. Nice service. At the beginning, they also offer clean water, which is great, especially on summer days :). It's not that far from the center.

We had a really nice lunch, the food was very yummy and the staff very service minded.

It was rainy and cool (in July). I snuck into the back of the restaurant chilled from walking in drizzle. I sat next to the kitchen, warm and buzzing with chefs, pots, and food. The lasagna was delicious. Hot, cheesy, tangy, beefy and kissed with tomato. The tiramisu didn’t disappoint either. I love cooking, and it was a pleasure to be around the chef, enjoy a delicious meal, and see and hear the inner workings of an everything made from scratch kitchen.

Tiramisu was not so good. They charged a service fee.

La Cucina is amazing. We visited 3 times in a span of 3 weeks because of how amazing the food, service, and atmosphere are. Even in a group of 10 students, the staff were on top of keeping our glasses full of water and our food took no longer than 15 minutes.

I always loved the food. The staff are polite and fun, the wine (we had a Chianti) smooth, and the atmosphere buzzy.

Amazing restaurant! I've had two birthday dinners here, attended several more, and have been here several times throughout my time in Oxford and it never fails to impress! Incredible food, lovely atmosphere & very helpful staff. They even let me place an order on the phone to come and collect which was very much appreciated. Absolutely love this place:)

We have been here for the third day in row since we were extremely satisfied with the quality of the meals. The truffle pasta with pesto and spinach, was absolutely mind blowing. The service is perfect as well, I think the prices are reasonable to. Waiting time is really short. The open kitchen design, with fresh vegetables makes the restaurant really authentic.

While I was waiting outside the restaurant a beautiful lady took my attention to menu and had a nice talk together so me and my 2 sister decided to try it was our first time and definitely won’t be the last one as the meal and service was superb , they have been look aftering us very well although it was a Saturday night and we didn’t have a table booked and the restaurant was busy they did the excellent job Thank you to all of you Chefs and all the the people who look after us See you soon

It's a decent pizzeria. The service is quick and the staff is also friendly. The portions are a little small, but the food is tasty.

Food was fine. We had a mixture of pastas and pizzas. My pasta was fine but very unremarkable. Varied menu to accommodate all. Prices are good considering central Oxford location. Meal was let down by one rude waitress. Other members of staff lovely. 12.5% service charge for a rude waitress. We will not return.

Hosts are very attentive, but the pizzas here are almost inedible. Go to Sartorelli's, instead, for a real Neapolitan style pizza.

The finest pizzas in Oxford, served in a location to which access by motor vehicle is still permitted by the City Council. Long may it last!

Second time in this restaurant and it hasn’t disappointed. The vegetarian sharing platter is really filling and varied (serves three people easily), multiple dishes of pasta and pizzas really good portions and the deserts were really good (panna cotta and ricotta cake super tasty). Good selection of wines and cocktails as well.

I'm a regular client. La Cucina is one of the most authentic local Italian restaurants in Oxford. Quality ingredients, great service and welcoming atmosphere. They have a nice selection of Italian products to buy too. Definitely recommended. Grazie ragazzi

Fabulous pizza, pasta and panna cotta! I had a four season calzone and I loved it.

As an italian, finding this place was a genuine treat. I haven't found many places in england that make pizza that tastes as genuinely good as this place's pizzas do. Highly recommended.

What great food. Had the pizza , duck and pasta.

Went for Valentines day, had the seafood risotto, and bolognese for my good friend, they were both very good and the prices are reasonable. Later had the panna cotta with amaretto and caramel sauce though couldn't really taste the amaretto. Overall it was amazing and the waiter Xavier was very friendly too! Great atmosphere and superb staff- would highly recommend going there.

Wonderful place we've been eating there for nearly 16 years (since soon after they opened) the service is excellent and the food varied and beautifully prepared. I have their diavolo pizza most often but my wife and daughter tend to experiment with the specials board.. some of the staff and at least one of the cooks have been there since the beginning, I see that as an excellent recommendation on its own.

Mid experience. I asked the waitress what seafood was in the risotto and she said it was just “common fish” and would have to go and ask the chef if I really wanted to know. Risotto had 4 mussels, 2 small prawns and 4 squid rings throughout which was slightly disappointing, worst Aperol Spritz I have ever tasted, the pizza was nice, flavours complimented each other nicely but was a little soggy in parts. Took the food around 40 minutes to arrive at our table. However, the atmosphere was nice and restaurant is nicely decorated. Overall below average experience and overpriced. Wouldn’t come back again

Had a very good meal at this restaurant.Our server Luca was very friendly and made us feel very welcomed, we can recommend its sister restaurant with the same appreciation ( the cuttlefish and seafood bar) which served one of the best fish and chips dishes we had tasted! The four Scottish lads.

The food was good, especially the Risotto. The Parma ham for pizza was too salty, making us very thirsty after eating it. Not much service given from the restaurant but we can all the staff looks friendly.

Ok so I like this place but the last time went there was an issue. So greated in a friendly manner. And seated by yhe front door. I found that I had deliveroo riders standing next to me throughout our meal, we did book last minute so I was not expecting this great table but..... the service took a very long time to see to us. The food, starters great both had the calimari. My steak was lovely cooked blue just how I liked it. My partner had the mushroom pasta which at first sight had a piece of hard green plastic in it. The staff removed the plate and offered to cook another one. By the time her new meal had arrived I had finished mine. With this all happening and the aforementioned deliveroo drivers we decided to not get desert. As I said we like it here and had chosen to celebrate my partners pregnancy here but felt somewhat let down. And we didn't have a very romantic evening.

The food was amazing, the restaurant was traditionally Italian themed, the service was very pleasant, the staff was also friendly and music italiana. I recommend more people should check it out ! Grazie di tutto! Siete meravigliosi♥️👍

Friendly attentive staff and great food!

As we arrived, staff told us a group of 40 people had just arrived so food might take long. Despite that, main courses arrived in 20-25 minutes and were all great. All staff were quick, friendly and understanding. Highly recommend!

My wife and I visited La Cuccina for a evening meal and sadly we were left really disappointed. The food was really bad, my wife ordered the Grigliata di verdure con pesto and this was drenched with so much oil that you could pour it out from the plate into a cup. We then ordered two tiramasu and this was really bland it was missing flavour, I have had better from the Co op. After this performance we will not be visiting again.
