4 adults dining in. Celebrating my son's 30th birthday as well as the new year since it falls near the day. My son and I had dined there on several occasions and we always left pleased with the food and the service. I am afraid both have gone downhill. Rude waitress and manager who only seemed to care that no food is waisted in the all-you-can-eat mode. Which had to last 1 and 1/2 hours on the dot. As for the food, the worst sweet and sour meals we have ever tasted. The sweet and sour sauce was thin and watered down and tasted strange. The spring rolls were soggy. The meats were also undercooked and looked and felt slimy. I only hope they were ok healthwise. Finally, the price of £21.80 per adult is steep relative to the food and the service. The occasion and our moods were both spoiled. I am afraid that none of us will be going back to this restaurant. And it is a pity because it used to be a nice restaurant to visit in our neighbourhood without having to trek all the way to Manchester to find a Chinese that offers buffet.

I went with my sister and my friend and all 3 of us got food poisoning and are really poorly because of the food there. The past 2 time we have gone we have got food poisoning and it will definitely be the last time we go.

Can't comment on atmosphere - it was a take away. Delivery was rapid - 5* Food was average for the price. I paid nearly £30 for some chips and lamb with a few spring rolls. Portion size was small and the food was okay.

Disgusting owner or manager. Treats his staff so poorly and the way he speaks to them is awful, considering most of them are 14 year old kids. Would never go back again, no matter how good the food was. And the food isn't terrible but its nothing to wrote home about.

Just called up to place an order for my family and we got wrongly accused us for “ being dodgy” and accused of fraud as the signal cut out and he refused to take our order. Definitely will NOT be going there again, we’ve been there for family meals multiple times and had food delivered before. Will NEVER go there again after how the rude, arrogant man shouted at us on the phone. This is SO unprofessional and disrespectful to a long time customer and member of the the Glossop community!!! So disappointed

Takeaway delivery from here is an absolute shambles. I ordered at 18:50 and it said delivery would be 50 mins. They called at 18:55 and left a voicemail to say it would be 1hr30 or I could collect on 30 mins. I tried to call back to say I'd collect but no answer so I sent a text message instead...got no reply. When I arrived to collect at 19:25 I was told it had been sent for delivery so I returned home thinking it would arrive any minute. An hour passed so I called up and asked where my food was, the manger didn't have a clue. Told me "it's on its way" so I asked if it had been in the delivery drivers car for an hour and he said "no, we thought you were someone else when you can in". 10 mins later it arrived and, unsurprisingly, was absolutely stone cold. I've order takeaway 3 times over the years and it's been the same story every time. Food is ok, but not worth the hassle.

We had the all you can eat option and all the food we had on the menu was delicious. Some of the best good we've eaten out in many years. It was also great to see lots of vegetarian options. The service was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were very patient and great with the kids. There was a lovely calm and peaceful atmosphere in the restaurant. I would highly recommend to anyone. We will definitely be going again.

We went lunchtime on Sunday with my husband and 2 young children. I rang ahead and booked but it was quiet on arrival. We were warmly welcomed and the experience just got better from there. The food was delicious, it was order a buffet style menu. We are vegetarian and enjoyed the selection. Our kids are less adventurous and they were happy to just do a side dish from the main menu for them. The host/waiter was super attentive and child friendly nothing felt too much bother at all. Definitely going back. Thanks so much

I may have found my new favourite buffet restaurant! Reasonably priced, ambient surrounds and food that will make your mouth water, even before it's left the kitchen. The House Specials are as advertised...Special! No doubt, we'll be back soon. 10/10 Folks. Keep it up.

A random Tuesday taster all you can eat.. £75.00 2 adults 1child.. The RUSHED evening of this quiet midweek treat was nearly ruined by the smart remarks and face pulling by both staff,. We nearly left.. Your joking left a bitter taste in my mouth that even your food didn't remove.. Expensive, rushed, and rude...

Best Chinese in the high peaks As we arrived at kwei ping, we was greeted by this great chap with good banter and a brilliant personality. We was the seated in a restaurant with oriental feel and smooth, calm atmosphere. We ordered an array of appetisers that all came out tasty and hot. We then ordered a platter of mains that came out as good as the appetisers. Overall I would give it top marks in terms of quality taste and price. Would highly recommend and would gladly go again.

Very cheap, the food was good and very fast. The room is brightly lit and functional, not the first choice for a romantic dinner. But if your hungry and on a budget this is the place for you.

Visited a few times recently and always consistently good. Table service very attentive and always check if you're happy with the meals ordered. Drinks fairly priced and always happy to help when asked. Recommended if your local or in the area

Been coming here a while. The older gentleman that used to wait on was lovely and made the experience worth while, however he has been replaced by a younger man who is very rude. We placed our order to be asked is that just for you as thats quite a lot and we do charge for waste, having visited numerous of times before we know the portion sizea are small and it's what we usually have. He leans over you to take plates when the rest of the table are still eating. Unfortunately we won't be returning because of the above. He has ruined the experience and is highly rude

It's ok. now limitless food can be ordered, which is fine but the quality seems to be compromised, but on a positive the server was great, he made the meal for us. We did like the ribs though!

It's open on a Thursday before Xmas. Beef Chow main, egg fried and Spring Rolls. The place is clean and tidy with kids inside.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but I was so impressed with Kwei Ping that I would feel bad not to! I only recently moved to the area and I had a great Chinese down the road from me where I used to live so couldn’t wait to find a replacement. I tried Canton King and found it to be average so came to Kwei Ping with a few friends. We went in but ordered a takeaway, the restaurant felt really cute and authentic, the staff were friendly and we were well looked after. We ordered a ridiculous amount of food for the 4 of us (bill came to just over £90) so we ordered some drinks while we waited, thinking that it could be a while. We were offered to sit at a table and were given prawn crackers while we waited and the food was ready super quickly anyway (think only one of us managed to finish their drink in that time). We were so impressed with every single thing we had, the flavours were perfect, nothing was too oily or too salty and every single thing was hot even though we ordered so much. We already can’t wait to come in for the all you can eat menu!

If it wasn’t for the fact that I was looking forward to a good meal this experience would have been comical. We went for the all you can eat option, which clearly the waiter sees as a challenge as to just how quick he can get you to finish. He was super annoying, hovering like a praying mantis as soon as we had finished two dishes (one each) he swooped in took the plates and that was it – next time he showed up it was with the bill which was extortionate given what we had - at best mediocre food, ridiculously expensive and lousy service

Great all you can eat and great service

We have eaten in this restaurant for the first time yesterday. There were five of us, we turned up without a reservation and we were warmly invited in and fed to the brim! The system of this restaurant is really wise and well thought out. It is a water service and you can order next meal, providing you have reasonably finished your previous round of food. Whereas in others all you can eat buffets customers tend to waste a lot of food that ends up in the bin. This restaurant's innovative way promotes food sustainability and delicious eating experience. A big thank you to the hosts! Keep up the good work!

Starters good but then went down hill from there. There were 4 people on our table, 2 people got there mains, the other 2 had to wait at least 20 mins and when it came was not hot. Don't think we would go there again

Food was amazing! Best Chinese and the all you can eat is so reasonably priced at only £15.80 each. I like the idea of the all you can eat too, as it really reduces waste and means it is a higher quality than any other all you can eat I've been to. Lovely small restaraunt in the heart of glossop with the nicest staff. I can't recommend this place enough. We can't wait to come back and we will bring our family and friends ❤

Takeway ordered online at 17:20 to be delivered at 19:30. It arrived at 20:30. Prawn Szechaun was mainly onions.

after 6 years of ordering and recommending your restaurant, today was the last time you will ever have our custom! Customer service has been rude, delivery driver arrived almost 1 hour late,no apology,all food cold and ruined, after calling 4 times constantly told it will be there in a min,last call to report condition of food,met by rude lady who's response was Right! Not one apology, you should remember the customers who supported you through the pandemic when your business survived on takeaways only. Basically the restaurant promotes the buffet at £15.80. This has the advantage of eating as much as you want. The question is ‘do you want to’? You may not have a great appetite, of course, but the main problem is that the food quality is not consistent. Some dishes like prawn foo yung is quite good but the chicken curry Is disgusting. The latter appears to be made by pouring some thick miserable curry sauce over the odd onion and some anaemic chicken. The hot and sour soup is tasteless and has no hot or sour. The wine list is very basic and generic. Some wines are good quality but others are abysmal being the cheapest available at the supermarket. The service is good and the staff are very pleasant and welcoming.

Lovely venue, really enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were very polite and offered great customer service. The food was good (we went on a Sunday and had dishes from the "All you want to eat" menu) - a bit too salty for our taste but beautifully presented.

Me and my mum went to kwei ping for a meal, the young waitress was lovley and very polite and so was the older male waiter. However, the way the Chinese woman spoke to her staff is outrageous!! And I wasn’t feeling too well and already paid for my meal, so the young waitress got shouted at infront of everyone for letting me box up my food.

Excellent service and food served fresh to order. Little bit over seasoned or msg tasting though.

A table of 7 lads went here and we were all full to the brim and happy with the food. All you can eat menu is the way forward, the food is so much fresher than visiting a buffet. The quality, portion size and speed was impressive. The staff were lovely and the gentleman taking our orders was fun. The menu is a good size too, there's plenty of variety from in all the sections. I definitely recommend a trip there if you fancy an all you can eat Chinese.

Me and my partner had a takeaway from here. We got the share box for £18, generous portion size but there genuinely wasn’t one nice thing in there. Salt and pepper chips were dried up and tasteless, ribs, chicken wings and chicken pieces were chewy and dry, spring rolls and samosas were soggy with barely any filling in. Just all looked like piled up leftovers. We won’t be returning.

we've been going here for a very long time, the service is always fantastic & the soups are very hot! staff are always very friendly and welcoming would recommend to others as food is freshly prepared it might take a little longer but nothing we can't wait for especially with food being so good!

Honestly, I have been going to Kwei Ping for probably 30 years since being a young lad myself. A couple of years ago the business was sold by long time owner Linda and her husband. We went last night for my dauhters 20th Birthday and opted for the all you can eat @ £15.80 each. The buffet style is sit down and order, so in theory everything is freshly preparedThey were busy all night due to another birthday party. Our soups all came out cold which as the first dish was pretty poor and we all had the dim sum combination start which was spot on, hot and decent food quality overall. From that point on service fell to bits. Mains for our party were taken in 2 parts (not sure why) some of the food didn't come out at all and 2 dishes were stone cold, complaints were made to the female owner who doesn't speak great English and she took them back. 2 Minutes later the food reappeared and the plates were red hot but the food was still cold, they had microwaved it. This time we asked to speak to the manager and the lady reappeared. Her husband came and interveened apologied and sent the food to be recooked. I ordered a Singapore Vermachelli 3 times before it arrived and this took 40 minutes to come at this point everyone else in our pary had long since finished eating. The meal was a disaster in terms of organisation of the staff, quality of service and constantly cold food. My daughter ordered a dish with specific requirements, the female owner brought the dish out which was wrong, when she asked for it to be swapped the woman stormed off in a strop and came back several minutes later with the dish again which was still wrong, in the end my daghter gave up on trying to get the dish correct.Other tables complained of similar issues throughout the night and the large party behind us ended up having not enough forks for their table which felt like madness. The owner did apologise at the end of the night to us.As a footnote several of the young female staff came to apologise for the attitude of the female owner throughout the night and they told us that if you add tips to your bill then the staff never receive their tips. The only way they get them is if you give them the money seperately and directly. Please do not add tips to your bill and give them to the girls directly as we did.To add some summary, I used to love the Kwei Ping and have had many very enjoyable nights in there over the years, the current owners leave a lot to be desired especially the female owner, her husband tries hard. I feel they should scrap their All You Can Eat if they cant do it well and stick to an a la carte menu. If they continue with it then they should make the portion sizes the same as the a la carte so they have to cook less frequently at busy times and they definitely need to improve their organisation as it was in the main non existent

Sat down , and immediately asked " what do you want to eat " to which I replied I haven't looked at the menu yet , within 2 min I was asked again , I felt really rushed , so I just randomly picked something as I wasn't given chance , the food came out quickly however it was awful , tiny bowl of curry with 4 prawns in it ! Definitely not going back

We dined in and had the all you can eat menu where you choose from an excellent choice of dishes. It's served as small plates, but still very generous portions. Food was lovely, piping hot and very tasty. Service was excellent from everyone, staff are very attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.

Lovely food, sensible portions (went for the all you want to eat menu) really polite and attentive staff. It did feel a little full during this covid time which made me a little uncomfortable but I'm guessing its within the govt guidelines.

Visited here on the eat out to help out scheme ! Buffet is normally £13.90 per head so we paid half this ! Not your typical buffet as the staff take your order and bring it to the table . Great idea as it probably cuts down on waste . Very good choice of starters and main courses . I liked the fact that the staff kept coming back and checking if you wanted more food ! Main courses are served in smaller portions which encourages you to try different things . One thing guaranteed you will not leave Kwei Ping feeling hungry !

We have been here twice recently, once at the end of July and then again early August. Great little restaurant. I think the all you can eat is a really good idea, better than a buffet style. Food is always fresh and hot. You choose what you want from the list and they make it fresh. They are smaller portions compared to a Chinese restaurant where you would order starters but that allows you to be able to pick a few. The main courses are similar, smaller portions than normal but you really don’t need a lot of each when you having a selection. They encourage you not to over order and are more than happy to keep bringing you more dishes if you want. You can not take home leftovers As of August 2020 the price for an adult is £13.80 for all you can eat, children are cheaper. Is it the best Chinese I have ever had no, but I still think for the price it is great quality, fresh and hot. A family favourite in Glossop for us.

Visited as a family after reopening from CV19 lockdown. We felt safe and well looked after - track and trace was in place, social distancing maintained, all staff wore face masks and there were several hand sanitiser stations. Now for the food....it's an all you can eat style, but not a help yourself buffet, you order what you want from the menu and it is cooked fresh for you. There's plenty of choice of starters, mains and sides, the portions are slightly smaller than you would get in a non-buffet (still enough to share) we found this better as we had lots of different dishes rather than filling up on one or two. The food was hot, fresh and tasted fantastic! The staff were great, always attentative and asking if we wanted to order anything else/more but we had to stop eventually as we were full to bursting and very satisfied.

Kwei Ping has been a staple of the Glossop High St for many years - but - for a whole variety of reasons has never been our restaurant of choice - service, food quality, atmosphere. Even for a take-away, it has never featured. I am so glad to say that this changed this weekend. We had a family re-union so we came along feeling a little trepidation. We needn't have worried. Such friendly staff and such hospitality - everyone was happy, from 82-yr old FIL to 9-year old nephew. The menu is extensive and was served as a "cook to order" buffet. Imagine tapas style - slightly smaller dishes but this allows you to try a selection. All the food was piping hot and full of flavour. Doing it this way means no waste. The whole team worked so hard but in a good, relaxed way. Would certainly recommend now and would certainly go back to try again. It's back on the list! The restaurant was busy too, so a good, warm atmosphere.

Love the Buffet and the sensible approach that you cannot order more until you have finished your previous order. Fresh food too, lovely as atmosphere and staff. We go again and again!!

Went with a friend on a quiet Tuesday night for the buffet. Super attentive staff, great dish sizes when you want a bit of everything, and you can always order double portions of things. Highly recommend the Singapore special noodle dish and crispy shredded beef, even the rice was gorgeous! Will definitely come back again.

All you can eat buffet in a hour and a half. A very good choice of starters and mains. You are served at your table and once you finish one dish you can order another. I like this system because it means there is no wasting of food. What you don't eat, you pay for. All good in my book. Staff couldn't have been more on the ball. A cold Tuesday in January but a fair few people in. For £13.80 a bargain in my opinion. But that is just my opinion.
