Went in here and the food was nice, albeit quite a strange combination of Jamaican and Scottish food. It was lunchtime I visited and the place was absolutely dead, so has to rank low on the atmosphere score unfortunately

just amazing! the portions are huge, the chicken in my meal was the freshest and softest i've ever had in a restaurant and the service was so sweet, the owner went to the store to get a mars bar just for me, because i wanted to try that and he wouldnt admit he doesnt have it. 10/10 experience

I eat curry goat all the time and this was more like a vegetarian curry there was 2 bits of meat in it the rice was cold don't be fooled by the presentation I was the only one in there and he took 30 minutes pretty sure I heard the microwave ping a couple of time and for 20 quid save your money

Great service and delicious more than it look at first glance. If you are bored with the plain and salty taste of English food, I recommend this restaurant for your Scotland trip.

I ordered the food and it arrived raw and burnt within 1.5 hours. I called the restaurant. The boss apologized and said he would send new ones within 30 minutes. I called again after 1 hour because the new food never arrived. Nobody answered. I called the next day and they said they would deliver it after 5 p.m. because delivery was starting. I called again after 6 p.m. because the food still hadn't arrived. they said they wouldn't deliver it because they were very busy now and only at 9pm. I am very disappointed and unfortunately not for the first time. I will never order and do not recommend this place.

Food came late and really bad. My macaroni cheese was so salty that I couldn’t eat it (1st bite was ok, but after 3rd one I regret I not try more before complaining). Belly pork row but sweet potatoes chips burned so much that they were brown ! Who send that away to customer seeing it’s unable to eat?! My partner food the same - burned. I complained and was said new food will arrive - ok. Hour later no one ever answer my call. The next day my parter called and heard the food will be at our place after 5PM. Ok, hour later no food, I heard from the person who answered food will be sent after 9PM as they are busy now !!! That’s ridiculous. How can you treat a customer like that?? A year ago I was recommending that place to many people - well, not anymore. And that was our second try! Never again!!!

Please tell me how you order food to be delivered and it takes more than 2hrs to arrive.You call them and they pretend like they are not hearing you,having to call on a different line and they lie that your food is stuck in traffic this time at night.An absolute appalling service…Had to drive to get my order asked for a refund and they won’t refund just wait until they finish preparing burnt food please don’t take orders more than you can handle

Super tasty. The pork belly starter was recommended and was so yummy - fab recommendation! Goat curry and oxtail stewed for mains, so delicious - best meal of the year!

Is it appropriate to make half of the 'oxtail stew' mix with sick chicken neck?

Well, I am quite surprised that my £18 'Oxtail Stew' was half mixed with chicken neck. At least, you should mention that there is 'Chicken Neck' in your 'Oxtail Stew'.

That was brilliant. Different, amazing flavours, definitely well worth a visit!

A little piece of barbados in Inverness

Amazing food. I ordered Mama’s Sunday lunch which was a mix of fried chicken, chicken curry and jerk chicken. It took satisfyingly long to come because I think everything was freshly cooked. So delicious and really satisfying. Can’t recommend highly enough

First class service and food, I wasn’t sure as I’ve never eaten in a Jamaican restaurant but the menu had something for everyone - host curry for me served with rice and beans. Excellent value for money and enjoyed the ambience too - great reggae too - highly recommend this place - I’ll be back

Der Service ist jamaikanisch-authentisch, lessiver, freundlich, lustig. Sogar der Koch kam persönlich vorbei um nach der Zufriedenheit zu fragen. Weiter so!

Amazing and authentic Jamaican food! The chef was very passionate and went above and beyond and created a very welcoming atmosphere. If you already have your scottish meals ticked off, then I would definetly give this place a try!

J'ai pris le mama sunday dinner, un plat à base de poulet exceptionnel ! Une explosion de saveur, epicé juste comme il faut et généreux sur les quantités. Le chef est tres dynamique avec une bonne humeur communicative. Une ambiance reggea et chaleureuse. Tres bonne experience, n'hesitez pas !

I noticed 'curried goat' on the menu outside this place and decided to give it a go. I did not regret this. Said goat was served with rice and beans and a salad. It was wonderful. The meat was tender and flavorsome and perfectly spiced giving just the right amount of heat and lovely aftertaste. To drink I had a bottle of Cairngorm brewery's Sheepshagger blonde ale which went well. The music and bright paintwork gave as much of a Caribbean feel as you can expect on a damp evening in Inverness and I couldn't fault the service. This is now my number one go to restaurant north of St Andrews.

If you love Jamaican food and reggae music this is probably the best place in Scotland to come ! I had red snapper and my wife had jerk chicken, two typical Jamaican dishes and they were fabulous. Everything about this place reminds me of why I love Jamaica so much

Tried to inquire about closing times so I can be polite and aware of when they were trying to close. I was asked in a rude manner "are you trying to order or asking questions?" and waved on, as if to say "get out". Very rude and disrespectful as I was only trying to be polite. I do not recommend trying this place.

Amazing food! Had the lamb shank in wine sauce, my wife had a combo platter with ribs and chicken. Everything was excellent; best lamb shank I've ever had. Fine dining in a chill atmosphere. And it was open for food on Sunday late when everything else was closed. Highly recommended!

Ordered rasta pasta which was absolutely stunning, will be trying to make it at home. Was given garlic bread on the side, hadnt ordered but welcoming. Also ordered the jerk chicken pizza, just as good, also ordered a side of coleslaw. Shared half and half with OH and left a big tip. Will be going back next holiday. Service fabulous and attentive.

First time here and will definitely be back! Was stunned to see how reasonably priced the food was for the flavour and portion sizes you get. The cocktails are fantastic and definitely have a kick to them! Atmosphere is homely and enjoyable and the staff are very warm welcoming and friendly. I have absolutely no faults with this establishment and have to say, the best food I've had in Inverness!

The food is generally really good. However the staff are very rude and there is a lot of Confusion over how their orders work with the "Inverness eats" app. They told me they would not fufil my order tonight, because the app was broken, only for then to fulfill the order later. Also not the best value for money with a £6 delivery fee, and food has been luke warm on both deliveries.

We had mussels in curry which was suprisingly delicious. The curry goat was tender and tasty. However, the noodles with the overcooked monk fish and shrimp was very bland and disappointing.

Food is carefully prepared, wide range of options available on the menu. Owner is very nice & friendly. Not typical street food but a dine in restaurant.

Forget the pretentious burger places in Inverness, this place is so much better.. Will definitely be back. Staff were great.

Sehr ehrlicher Laden. Das Essen schmeckt wie bei der jamaikanischen Mutter, die ich nie hatte. Probiert das Jerk chicken oder die Ziege! Wir hatten hier eine gute Zeit, nicht nur mit dem Essen sondern auch bei Drinks und guten Gesprächen mit dem sehr freundlichen Personal.

Called in for a cocktail one afternoon last week. Service took absolutely ages even though there were only another couple in. I chose a coconut cream which was meant to have rum in it. Once it finally arrived, I honestly don’t think it had any alcohol in it. It tasted of coconut water only. The couple at the other table had food which looked unappealing and they left most of it! Won’t be back!

We are local and have been a few times. Each time we’ve been we’ve had great cocktails, delicious food and the staff are always very friendly and helpful with our young children. All in all good value for money food in a relaxed atmosphere in the city centre

Dined in and after ordering had an emergency and had to leave. Staff packed up our food for takeaway and we're really friendly and helpful. The food was amazing a solid portions too. Will return to enjoy the nice atmosphere!

Living nearby, I've passed this place many times, noticed it's always full when passing, yet never actually been in to eat until visiting friends insisted we went. And it was magnificent! It's certainly not polished or fancy looking, but a laid back, friendly atmosphere with plenty food that may take you outside your comfort zone (but with a good few 'safer options' if you're a picky eater. The famous curried goat is absolutely incredible though, highly recommended! Very relaxed evening, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us (although there was a single diner a few tables down that asked for his meal quickly and they accommodated his request).

I have never had to write a terrible review and this is unfortunate as the restaurant had been recommended to me and judging by other reviews I can only assume we must have caught them on a bad day. We ordered a cocktail each which never materialised until we were midway through our main course and that was after we had to remind them and when they did arrive, they were not good. My food was bland, poorly presented and had no taste or flavour whatsoever. My husband’s meal was “okay”. The service was poor. We left most of our food and asked for the bill. I eventually went to the desk to pay and the option to tip came up and the member of staff immediately pressed no tip which to me implied he knew we had not had a good experience but he chose not to say anything.

We are Jamaicans, and the quality and taste of the food at Kool Runnings has gone way downhill since we last visited in 2016. Like from A to Z. We left very disappointed as a result.

We stumbled upon Kool Runnings while walking through Inverness, tried two of their most popular dishes (Jerk Chicken & Goat Curry) with two Jamaican beers and couldn’t fault it. Honest, home-cooked style food.

Started of with sharing platter omg 😂 garlic bread?? 2 bits of burnt bread, chicken wings inedible! Pork was ok so mentioned to waiter but he just shrugged his shoulders🤔 then on to mains, well just a bit bland was just ok, unfortunately I won’t be back not worth it tbh

1. The chicken and ribs were barely acceptable, but the seafood was a nightmare. I have tried the shellfish bowl and combo meatly. To be honest, the mussels were very likely not fresh (hope no one get diarrhea from this) as they had a distinctly fishy taste. Additionally, The crab came with pincers, but there were no tools provided to crack open the crab shell, making it difficult to eat. As for the chicken and ribs, they were a little bit burnt, similar to what I would pay £8 for at Waitrose. They weren't bad, but definitely not worth the price. For £18, you can get a better meal even in London. 2. The service was incredibly slow. My friend and I waited for almost an hour to be served our main course. Despite the restaurant not being very crowded and having three waiters, the speed of service was completely abnormal for the situation. 3. The price does not justify the quality of the food. We paid £20 per person for this dinner, which included one shared starter and one main course for each of us. Even in London, we can find better food at this price per person, which feels excessively high.

Essendo l'unico posto dove puoi mangiare dopo le 20 abbiamo provato il cibo jamaicano. Servizio gentile e simpatico, il locale non è bellissimo e c'è un profumo un po' forte di spray ambiente. I piatti sono molto abbondanti quindi perfetto per chi ha fame. Hamburger nella media ma il piatto di pollo, il jerk chicken, era veramente buono! Saporito, piccante il giusto, patate dolci buonissime.

We got Glens Famous Jerk chicken and it was delicious with some spice to it. We got the nachos which were delicious and unique. Don't just walk by -it was soooo good

Amazing place! Something really different in the heart of the Highlands. Friendly staff, delicious food and incredible cocktails! Portions are super generous (both the food and the rum in the drinks!) Would definitely visit again if in the area.

We only ordered the Jamaican Jerk Chicken with rice and beans. The chicken was marinated perfectly as each piece was flavorful and delicious. The staff was very nice and responsive and the dining area was clean and relaxing.

The food was delicious two of us had curry goat with rice and peas and coleslaw with plantain. Could have been a bit hotter in the curry. The others had vegan pulled pork in hosin sauce with rice and peas and plantain. But it was a bit to sweet, but was still thoroughly enjoyed. The owner was very helpful and very nice. It was a very pleasant experience.

An unusual cuisine to see in the highlands. Unfortunately, I don’t know if I just can’t appreciate Jamaican food or this is not a very good representation of it. The callaloo with (bread?) dumplings was quite bland tasting and a bit unusual with the slightly sweeter plantains. The seafood jambalaya was soupy salty rice with not so fresh cheap seafood pieces. Portions are also quite small given the prices. The service was nice enough and the restaurant was decorated with Jamaican touches. Music could be more in theme instead of the 80’s music coming out. Didn’t try the cocktails which seemed to be extensive in selection.

Came here for a late dinner asit was one of the few restaurants serving at 9.30pm. Whilst there were only three tables, service of drinks was particularly slow, which struck me as strange. Dinner was tasty and I would recommend it for the flavours.
