Really tasty Indian with friendly staff. The price is on the higher side but the food lived up to it.

Visited as a table of 4, including one vegan and two vegetarians following a recommendation from a friend. The staff were wonderfully friendly and welcoming. The service was great, they made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. The manager made great recommendations for a couple of us who struggled choosing and made a couple dishes vegan to accommodate the whole group. The presentation was lovely and the portion sizes were very generous. Will be returning.

Had a great New Years Eve dinner here, the food was incredible and quite possible the best indian food we have ever had. The service was great too! A special thanks to Ali who was very attentive despite how busy it was and even having a little chat with us before we left. It is worth the drive from Oxford and we most certainly will be back in the new year 😀

Walked in to order takeaway, Ali was very welcoming as always. We ordered a few dishes and, after asking us how many it was for, Ali kindly threw in some poppadoms and extra nan to make sure it would be enough. It was a feast! The food was ready in no time as usual and everything was delicious!

First time visiting Kolkata. At first, I was really impressed with the atmosphere and attention from staff. Our party of 6 happily ordered their options from the extensive menu, but being unable to eat spicy food, I ordered the "english" scampi option. After quite a delay, 5 of our party were served, and I was told my meal would be along shortly. Meanwhile, they had started their meals and almost finished them when I was eventually told they had no scampi. What sort of restaurants takes your order, and them after 30-40 minutes, comes back to say that the item is out of stock, and would I care to pick something else? After a further 10 minute wait, my 2nd choice meal finally arrived, but the other guests in our party had virtually finished their meals by then.

The quality of the food at Kolkata is excellent. It is slightly more expensive than some others, but is worth it. We always get a takeaway and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I went to Kolkata in Didcot for the first time yesterday, I didnt eat in so I can not comment on this, however the atmosphere was very vibrant - so I imagine eating in would be a great experience. I ordered via telephone for a collection (takeaway) order. Ali answered the call and dealt with me from start to finish. He made sure he heard my order correctly and even offered some advise when it came to the condoments. Upon collection Ali was extremely welcoming, asking how far I travelled and when he realised I travelled from a neighbouring village he gave me an extra starter to say thankyou. As I had never eaten there before, he also advised he would call me in 1 - 1.5 hours for some feedback on the food (which he did). The food was an amazing quality, you could tell they take a lot of pride in their service & products. All in all - 10/10. Would highly recommend and will be returning for sure!

We have never been dissapointed with anything we have ordered from Kolkata. Ali and his team are very attentive and knowledgeable about their menus. We both have dietary restrictions that can make eating out difficult but Ali was able to recommend some delicious dishes and adjusted their spiciness just to our taste. It's fantastic service and great value for money regardless of if we are eating in or taking away. Highly recommend!

An extremely busy Saturday night in the restaurant. Our table was for 20+ covers. The staff were excellent despite how obviously busy they were. Attentive, professional and courteous. The food was absolutely amazing, superb quality and very very tasty. The best Phall I have had, hot but flavoursome. Well done Team Kolkata!!!

A fantastic family owned and run restaurant. Ali and his staff are incredibly welcoming, always engaging, remembering customers names and taking the time to get to know people. Great quality food. From young to old, we all love it. It’s not the cheapest in town, but it’s worth the extra and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

As always food and service fantastic. The best thing is Ali and the team cater for food intolerance with knowledge that you don't always find. Gluten free and vegan, no problem. Even an amazing vegan bread available. Made for a great evening out.

Had pretty disappointing experience at this restaurant which received good ratings. However our experience was far from good. It started with finding out their dining policy was main meal per adult which is very unheard of. It wasn't a busy restaurant during our visit but the supervisor or manager on shift sounded very harassed, we could his conversation as we tried to enjoy our "peaceful" dining experience which didn't end up that way. We felt like we were inconveniencing them with our presence. Not very calm or welcoming experience. However I need to mention fairly that the other waiter was very calm and polite.

The team at Kolkata catered for a big church celebration lunch providing rice, naans and 4 different curries for over 100 people. Excellent food enjoyed by all.

Ali was lovely from start to finish as was his colleague who quietly served our food and drinks but I didn't manage to catch his name. The young man behind the bar was great too. The welcome was spot on, the service was personalised so we had dishes that suited our pallets and Ali truly listened to our preferences because when we got the dishes he recommended....oh my goodness they were good. Rude staff and poor keepers of indian tradition and protocal for serving customer. biriyani is absolutely rubbish please don't ever order biriyani dish from here I had bad experience recently, everyone should order one main course otherwise they dont serve. we three went in for light dinner and hotel was empty and we just requested two main course that is enough for us but they insisting to order compulsory three dishes to sit and eat otherwise we have to go way with take away. paneer is basic. When I look rating that is not upto anything that I see all fabricated.

Absolutely the go to place for Indian Food in Didcot! Amazing food but most importantly amazing service - we bought our son with us to celebrate his 1 year anniversary of having heart surgery and the gentleman (didn’t catch his name unfortunately) was amazing. Playing and chatting with him and when he chucked food on the floor telling us to not worry about it and to enjoy our food. You don’t get service like this anymore - definitely coming back here :)
