Kingfisher on the Quay in Surrey Heath

We visited on a weekday lunchtime and were warmly greeted and sat in the dog friendly area as requested as we had a small dog with us. The food at The Kingfisher is always lovely, well presented, fresh and tasty! I can definitely recommend the crab and new potato salad. It was very good! The staff are always super friendly and professional and a credit to the company. I love that they offer a mini dessert and coffee (or cocktail) as it’s the perfect ending to a meal. We will be back! 😌

Very nice pub, found it randomly on the map while driving through Farnborough. Secluded pub, located by the lake. Amazing table views overseeing the lake, great atmosphere, and most importantly, the food was really good. Right portions and tasty dishes at reasonable prices. I definitely recommend this place. Plenty of parking space too, and it has outdoor sitting which must be lovely in the summer.

Have visited many times for family gatherings. Food has always been great and service good too. Not sure what’s happened but the portion control was really poor!! Had the carcuterie board as a ‘share’ for £17… previously came on a board with lots of selection, this time, came on a plate slightly bigger than a side plate with the toast chucked on the top! Most of the plate was taken by a small bowl of olive oil and vinegar! I asked friendly waitress if this was the sharing one as on the menu, she said yes. Partner said this was not great, she agreed! Sourdough’ bread and butter was just slightly toasted bloomer with butter as they didn’t have the chicken butter. Charged me the same price. Wagu burger and chips was measly, on large plates.. chips were like a child’s portion. Waitress was great, very attentive. I’ve seen other reviews for portion sizes here and totally agree! Once good value for money… not anymore.

We had the burger, steak and fish and chips as there were 3 of us, very nicely cooked, steak a little on the chewy side, but expected from an iron flat steak, chips were wonderful and the burger was delicious. Environment/Cleanliness: . Lovely inviting environment, great view of the lake and spotlessly clean! Value: . The balance of cost to quality was spot on, I think it was great value for the portion sizes and quality of the food. Other (wifi, Parking etc): . Loads of parking, I did not look at my phone so can’t comment on WiFi. Overall Summary: Really lovely place to visit, this was a business lunch for me and my colleagues were delighted by the whole experience, something a little more unusual and quirky, high;lay recommend!

On arrival, we waited to be seated while many staff members walked past and ignored us, eventually one lad noticed us but was quickly intercepted by a grumpy looking supervisor before he was able to greet us. Once we were seated, it was a while until our waitress was available, she was super lovely and super smiley and very helpful. The drinks were tasty. We had a very disappointing experience with the Sunday roast. No roast potatoes so we ordered chips instead. My partners chicken was dry, the Yorkshire pudding and stuffing ball had clearly been microwaved or sat under a heat lamp too long, and the veggies and chicken generally could have been seasoned better. I ordered the vegan roast - the wellington wasn’t exactly pastry-wrapped melange of veggies that was expected, rather more a soggy mushy disc of grated veggies and seeds and cranberries, it tasted really nice but the texture was just weird. All in all, we felt unwelcome and that the food was made with no care or pride. Very disappointing birthday dinner.

Went for Son’s 18th. Great friendly service. Lovely food. Seemed busy but no delay in food order. They surprised my son with a little cake and a song which was a lovely personal touch and he was suitably embarrassed! Will definitely go again. Thanks

Had a lovely meal here today for Mother’s Day. Three of us had the roast beef which was so tender & delicious. Our Mum doesn’t eat big portions so our waitress Alex said they’d do a smaller portion of roast chicken for her. We were also brought extra gravy, nothing was too much trouble. Alex & the other servers were excellent…5 star service! Everything excelled our expectations especially as it was a busy day for them. Will definitely return & would highly recommend

Just came across this place by chance whilst visiting from Yorkshire. A lovely quirky little place with lots of character plus a big open log fire. The staff were extremely friendly and amicable. Our meals were delicious BUT the portions were very meagre and didn't justify the price ,apart from this we had a very enjoyable evening and will certainly return next time we are Farnborough way but I don't want to go to the kitchen and quote that we'll known line from Oliver " Please sir can I have some more ".

Quirky but interesting place in nice location. Good service, fast, friendly and helpful. BUT was visiting for a meal. When I visited they were having promoting pies, and I thought I should try this as they seemed to have a focus on them, as did others in the group. On the positive side what arrived were proper pies, that is a closed pastry packet with top, sides and bottom. But on the negative side it was hard to find much meat in the pie - mine was chicken and ham, and I struggled to find much of either. See for the other folks in the group who had other pie variants. So disappointing.

Family get together with dogs. Must say really dog friendly. Made us all feel welcome but immediately brought water bowl for the dogs. Stress free. Lovely table with great lake view. Menu varied and everyone enjoyed their food. Reasonably priced but also great and friendly service.

They have lovely booths for couples which are quiet and almost feels like a private room. Friendly staff too with a decent wine list and menu make this a gem for Farnborough. The view of the lake at sunset is fantastic. A really well ran place.

Absolutely stunning place!! Me and my mum aren't from the area we had a day at car chase heros which built up quite a apatite so had a little Google search and found this place!! The pictures on Google does it no justice. We arrived and was like wow!! 😍 Stunning place. Staff were welcoming as we walked in we didn't pre book and they gave us a table by the window which looks over the water 😍 bet it's stunning in the summer! Food was delicious 😋 the lamb shoulder literally melted in your mouth 🤤🤤 And the pudding biscoff cheesecake 😋😋 Will definitely be back when we come back into the area!! Thank you!!

Decor and open fire brilliant food basic, boring and overpriced medium rare (chicken thigh burger) yes blood in it 1 squashed bun with 1slightly brown piece of lettuce and 10 chips Sub McDonald’s quality for £15.50 returned and refused to pay for it Wouldn’t recommend

Met up with friends for a late lunch. Quirky place, great decor, good atmosphere and very busy. All started well with lovely starters and drinks, but when the mains arrived, well we couldn’t believe our eyes. The portion sizes were terrible. Not enough meat or vegetables, very disappointing for the cost. We did bring this up with our waitress who told us it was portion controlled. The desserts were slightly better and tasted great. Another thing we brought to her attention was an open socket missing a face plate with wires hanging out beside our table. Not the safest when you have children with you. All in all a disappointing experience, we did leave still hungry.

Such a fantastic place - Claudia and the team were so welcoming and kind. They really looked after us - and the food was absolutely delicious!!! Great choice and very reasonably priced. I can't wait to visit again - thank you to the team for a wonderful evening.

Our meal was excellent, the decor is quirky, and the staff are obviously extremely well trained and attentive. We couldn't fault our visit.

Chicken,leak and ham pie was delicious. Nice portion size and plenty of gravy. Good selection of drinks. Warm atmosphere with plenty of decking space to look over the lake in the summer. Given we had a party of 20+ people the service was very good and efficient. Would recommend this pub. Prices were reasonable too.

Had a lovely Boxing day meal with family. Service was great. The staff were very accommodating and friendly which was a lovely change from some of the other venues we have had Boxing day meals at. We will definitely be back!

The food, atmosphere and service were all excellent. I have coeliacs disease and the gluten free menu was fantastic, so much choice. I'm not a pudding person but there were I think 6 options, including sticky toffee pudding. I'd highly recommend, especially if you're gluten free.

This place was great but it closed at 10pm and last food irders was 8.30pm. Overall a great place to meet chat and have a meal

Very nice location right on a lake food was very nice staff friendly a restaurant more than a pub but can imagine summer days or evenings being very pleasant.My first visit was an evening in December so I'll have to return in the summer to check it out

All our dishes were too dry and overcooked. Some ingredients were missed. The chicken supreme was missing the sauce due to a change in the recipe.

Ok, let me start with saying that I have been to this place a couple of years ago, and the both the food and the service was decent. I ventured out with a friend for a girly catch up and when we arrived the place was fairly empty, however we had booked so were escorted immediately to our table. The décor of the the place is very warm, the fireplace on, so it felt really cosy and welcoming. This is about it. It is a pub with a good décor......it went a bit downhill from here on. The table was wobbly, so we asked our waitress if we could have a little piece of card or something to even the table out.....she looked at us as if we had just asked her to murder someone. There wasn't any salt or pepper at the table. The food was bland, I had the plant burger, with a bun which was dry and falling apart. The chips were nothing better than what can be cooked at home in the oven. My friend had the fish and chips, which she said was very meh! When we were ordering we asked for some items, only to be told they were not available. As soon as we finished drinking and eating, we were told that somebody was waiting for our table could we move please? Doesn't scream being welcome. I have one rule when I'm reviewing food, if I can make it better at home, what is the point of going out and paying for it? Food should be exciting and delicious, but alas this was not. With what they charge, I would expect decent food, I guess this is ok if you aren't very good at cooking or aren't fussed about what you eat, and just want a night out. I was using this trip as a scoping trip for work lunches and dinners etc, but I will not I will not be returning to this place, which is a shame as the setting is lovely.

Quirky interior . Just installed new decking for the summer . Warm and cozy in a semi industrial setting . Log fire gives a nice feel . Good choice of food . Good starters and ample mains

What a hidden gem! We went there today to celebrate a family birthday and wow what a memorable day. Such a gorgeous venue, tasty food and lovely staff. Charlie took care of us and she is a total credit to the restaurant, so kind and sweet. Definitly recommend this wonderful place. And don’t forget to check out the toilets, even those are fab!

Really great place to eat at. This is now one of my local restaurants and I will definitely love to come here again. Maybe in the spring summer as I've only visited in winter. Roast was delicious, it was a proper roast dinner. I had the nut roast (if your not vegan you can ask for a Yorkshire pud too) and my other half had the lamb (sorry I couldn't get a photo of that) which looked amazing! Good roast potatoes but to make it perfect I would love fluffy roast potatoes, not so perfect looking. More gravy is always a good thing too. Unfortunately I didn't get to try deserts but I will next time! I love the decorations and the fire pit in the center. It was busy at 3pm but not too loud, just a nice atmosphere

First time visitor, we travelled here from Gloucester for a large family gathering. The service and food were top class. We were extremely well looked after by Charlie and Audrey, who provided excellent service and made us all feel very welcome. They coped wonderfully with my two year old son running around, various dietary considerations, and Charlie even helped with a massive family photoshoot before we left. An excellent and engaging space, lovely food delivered in a timely and ordered fashion, and staff who genuinely cared about our experience. Five stars, and a massive thank you.. given the chance, I will happily return.

We went for a lovely lunch with family and a good friend who was visiting us for the day. We have always loved The Kingfisher as the food and service are always excellent. It has been closed for a mini refurb and it was lovely to be able to return. The decor is still fantastic and the restaurant has a really warm, welcoming atmosphere. We were sat in an area near the entrance which had a lovely cushioned area and was in a quieter section of the restaurant and also suitable for dogs as there is a wooden floor. Charlie was our waitress and she was so lovely, a real credit to the team. She took our drinks order and even got Amy, my mum’s dog a bowl of water. She gave us all time to catch up as we hadn’t seen each other for a while and this gave us time to deliberate over the excellent menu. Some really nice new additions for the season- the Winter Caesar Salad was delicious! Some of the seasonal cocktails/hot drinks also look really nice and will be well worth a return visit to try. Everyone really enjoyed their food and we would happily return. Charlie gave good information around the menu and portion sizes and was always so polite and friendly. The other staff we saw were also very professional and welcoming. Please give this restaurant a try, you’ll be well looked after and have a lovely meal!

What a strange place- almost turned tail when we saw the outside but glad we persevered because food and beer were great and service friendly and knowledgeable. Not many places where you could, drink and watch the bizarre courtship displays of the great crested grebe. Could not believe where we were in this hidden and lovely spot in what remains of the blackwater valley. Clearly a very popular place, unknown to us who’ve lived not 10 miles away for the last 40 years

Nice location but pork was very very tough so much so i would not recommend. Otherwise a good location to meet. It had rained so car park was very flooded. Difficult if you are using a walking stick etc.

Second time here. Recently refurbished and a good quality restaurant with water views of ski and boating in summer.

Amazing place.great food and perfect ambience

This place has got a lot going for it , a lovely location , good pub grub and brilliant staff. The general manager has for many,many years employed and trained excellent young staff and our waitress yesterday Charlotte (Charlie) was no exception. She perfectly combined a natural friendliness with efficiency and certainly enhanced our visit experience.

This is a super place, not a pub but more like an exclusive restaurant with good old fashioned service and with a bonus….. the staff actually smile at you ! There is a full bar area but I feel most would come here to eat too. The menu is extensive and there are many excellent dishes created by the in house chef. Personally I was surprised by the level of service from the lady who appeared to be one of the senior staff, she anticipated all our questions and suggested perfect food and wines to suit our tastes. It was October and nice weather and so we sat outside and the view across the lake was stunning. I felt as though I had been whisked away to Switzerland or Austria. It was so outstanding we have booked again for Christmas lunch. I couldn’t fault this experience. Very special. Well done Kingfisher.

Great spot for meal all year long. Great atmosphere with a lovely view of the lake. This place is quite popular so I would recommend to make reservation before you visit.

The best element of this place is the quirky decor. I really enjoyed watching the water skiing next door. The food was.....OK...no wow factor. My teenage son had 2 main courses ( starter & side dish ) as the portions were small. Unfortunately not all main courses arrived at the same time. Plenty of young staff, but lacked fluidity as a dining experience.

Perfect evening quality and very attentive staff

Our family of 4 adults, 2 children, and 1 baby were served by the lovely Wendy. She was friendly, easily approachable, and was excellent at reading the situation and providing support to us when the infants were causing some distress. She remained level headed throughout and was also a lovely source of concise conversation. We attend this restaurant regularly because the staff are wonderful, and the food is delicious. I highly recommend the chicken pie.

Nice restaurant, food is good, pretty standard pub menu with good options. Waitress was lovely! In the summer it's lovely here as right on a lake, with lovely views of the water.

The location is really pretty, right on the water, and seating at the waters edge. We visited on a saturday early evening and it was fairly quiet. The menu was pretty basic. I had the buttermilk chicken which was tiny, dry, without flavour. The accompaniments were the same - dry quinoa and rice mixed with some green veg. I have no idea how the portion was 1100 calories - almost the same as the wagu burger. My friends had been there before and liked it, i would go back and maybe try the tapas which looked like a better choice.

We had time on our hands and decided to have lunch here. I had read of its high standards, good food and beautiful surroundings. I wasn’t disappointed as the service from Wendy and team was second to none. Not only was the service friendly and professional, the menu and the food that followed were exceptional. An amazing menu conjured up by a fantastic chef, We sat outside on the terrace by the lake watching the water skiing as the weather was glorious. Women with brown hair and glasses was very rude. We nicely asked whether they serve shots and was told very rudely "we don't serve shots this is a restatement not a bar!" In a really snarky tone. The service was considerably slow and had to wait ages for the bill. After being told this was a restaurant not a bar I looked around my table to notice cobwebs and spiders surrounding us which was quite an eye sore and made me think what type of restaurant this was. We had to leave after one drink as we didn't feel welcomed at all and seemed like a burden. However lady who served us with short blond hair and glasses was very lovely.

Having never been there before I enjoyed everything about the place. If I lived nearer I'd definitely go again
