King Street Fish Bar in Amber Valley

First time coming here, I took my mum on a mother and daughter dinner date, when we got there we was greeted by the waiter taken to our seats, ordered our drinks and food and they was so good with the timing food came out near enough straight away. It was lovely well worth the money will definitely be going back!

Fabulous. The fish is always top quality and the service is the same, and always so pleasant and polite.

The hake was truly exceptional last night. It's my favourite fish and it was cooked to absolute perfection. This has to be one of my favourite seafood restaurants. Go!

Highly recommend the seared tuna We shared this as a starter but could have eaten it all over again. Our waiter was attentive to our table and even gifted the birthday girl a pudding. Both our mains were superb and will definitely be returning, to sample the rest of the mouth watering menu. For a local Fish restaurant in my opinion,this is a winner. I haven't used long Street for a while as although the food had been good the driving is awful. Did to circumstances o ordered tonight for delivery to be made at 7 when I would be home. At 6. 30 i got a call from the driver quote aggressively asking where I was as her was at my home, I explained I'd ordered for 7pm so he said he was here now so would leave it on the doorstep, when I challenged that he hung up,I had considered starting with the shop but they never ever respond or care so I'm done with this shambles of an organisation and have decided to share my experiences both here and in my local social media groups. In short, good still good but service public relations couldn't be worse.

The chips I got for my 95 year old dad was dreadful. They were mostly little ends. So my dad had to throw them away. The kibab I had whent straight through me. So I will not be going again.

Not for the first time something has been missed from our order. Food as always is amazing. Just ashame we have to go back to get the missing items.

Ordered a takeaway via app, ordered 6pm and said it would be delivered by 7.15pm, money taken from account and no food turned up, tried to call shop but phone off hook, very very poor customer service, sort your business out king street fish and chips

Delicious fish restaurant with friendly staff. Serves standard fish and chips if you want it or a wide selection of grilled fishes and sides. The bread and butter pudding is worth leaving space for too!

If fish is your dish this is the place (or plaice) for you. There is the usual offering of battered fish and chips extremely well cooked but there is so much more to their menu. Very fresh fish well cooked and presented. The ambience is uninspiring but the food more than makes up for it.

I placed an order on the website, paid £25 and got no delivery. After calling many times, someone answered said they were closed. When I asked about a refund, all I got was ‘I don’t know’

At Fish! one is always greeted with a smile. Enjoyed a delicious family meal (I had grilled sea bream served with fresh salad and side of chips). Will be returning again in the near future to work my way through the grilled fish menu! Apparently the cod and chips was excellent too.

The fish soup was absolutely delicious as were the mussels. Haddock with bubble very tasty but hollandaise sauce was cold !!! Fish pie generous helping although chunks of salmon & haddock the ratio of mash to fish wasn’t that good

Terrible - ordered large chips and got small/medium and was cold when arrived. Have used this chip shop for about ten years and every other time has been great, disappointing this time.

The food was very good, Fresh and simple, I think that the concept is really good. The service was good. Our main waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. The interior needs a lift for the price charged. More than happy to pay the price for the freshness of the fish. Some funds should go to the interior. Over all I will definitely go back and have already recommended it to friends.

Unfortunately, unlike all previous times we have ordered, there were items missing and there was no salt and vinegar on my chips. The Fanta wasn't on the order and the wasn't any hot chili sauce. Normally, we are very happy but this time we were a little disappointed. Also, have you changed your curry sauce? It didn't taste like it normally does.

Always an enjoyable place to eat. Some exceptional fish dishes. Not a bad wine list too.

What a great find! Having been to Fish at Borough many times we thought we'd give Kingston a try. A warm welcome from Sebastian, friendly, unobtrusive service. The fish was lovely, my skate was cooked to perfection, my friend's plaice equally so. We weren't hurried and enjoyed a nice cold bottle of white wine. Excellent value, we will return. Sue

Almost every type of fish, grilled, fried plus some specials. Best tempura prawns, lovely mackerel dish and skate wing, French style. Would recommend. As it's next door to a fishmonger, everything is beautifully fresh.

Online order wasn’t as expected - ordered mixed meat kebab with three different meats but only had donor meat .. was disappointed as this is the second kebab I have ordered recently that hasn’t been right .. was charged full amount as well

An unusually quiet night at Fish Kitchen. Food was very good and service impeccable. Three courses and a bottle of wine for two resulted in a bill for £115. Thoroughly recommended!

Chips were hot but the fish only just warm! Asked for brown or whole meal bread, told, only do white. The tea was awful, undrinkable, don't think boiling water was used and most probably cheap tea bags too, thought we'd have a change from George's at Belper, big mistake!

Beautiful chip shop, went today had some wonderful food.100% better than what we had in Cornwall for £17 This is a amazing chip shop.The chips are lovely and crispy, not greasy.The potatoe fritters are nice and crispy.The staff are lovely.10/10

We come here every birthday, the oysters are fresh and delicious. good range of fish dishes. Prices are very reasonable and staff are very helpful and relaxed.

Shocking wait everytime we have been. Staff are not organised. There are phoned orders which helps to beat the queuing time. Poor parking for customers and shop is full of customers who are waiting and unsure when they are being served.

Celebrated birthday lunch with my wife. Shared super creamy Mersea oysters. Grilled Skate, chips with gherkin for my wife. I enjoyed the wild seabass on crushed potatoes with sauce vierge. We were most charmingly served by Sebastian. Unbeatable experience, been customers since Fish! first opened in Norbiton!

First time using the app and it couldn't have been simpler. Great lay out of menu, easy to book a time and when I arrived at the shop, there was my order. Great food as always.

Food is good. However placed order at 6.34 and when it got to 8.10 and no food arrived I rang to be told the machine that told them an order had come through was broken so no one noticed my order!! Guy on phone very apologetic and said would get food to us asap but no compensation or offer of freebies. What a dreadful unreliable system they have. Soo good worth having but don’t trust their technology.

Loved the variety of fish on offer and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful. When I had my fish served and found it did not fall off the bone it was taken back and brought to perfection. I already look forward to a return visit.

Great seasonal fish menu choices, beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection. Plus standard 'battered fish n chips' for those with more traditional tastes. Good selection of desserts. White wines could be more chilled and slightly clattery ambience but service friendly and professional.

Used to love this place! Sadly it’s gone down hill fast. Had battered sausage, chips and gravy. Battered sausage didn’t taste of anything and the chips were all crispy and hard and they were greasy. Don’t like writing bad reviews but something needs to change. All the staff used to be really friendly and personable. Made you want to go in. The staff now are all miserable and don’t break as much as a smile. Been 2, 3 times this past month and it’s sadly going to be my last time.

This is our local fish and chip shop and they used to have excellent service. However recently the service has gone down, staff have become rude and food has significantly decreased in quality....such a shame

Delicious food and excellent service. This is basically a posh chip shop so be prepared for it to be hot and noisy. Once you get used to that, it's wonderful.

Order arrived luke warm but basically almost cold, was fully cold within a five minutes. I normally receive food hot/warm. It was either sat for a while waiting for driver or not stored properly on drive. I did phone and was offered a discount that was not stated on my next order. But that's just not good enough when you pay for hot food. The meat didn't taste the same either but could be because it was cold.

Very good fish restaurant, handy for bus and train. Tasty whitebait and smoked haddock. Pleasantly quiet on a Saturday lunchtime.

Great Fish and Chips. The tartar sauce was delicious, the fish cooked to perfection. Lovely apple crumble and coffee for dessert.

Amazing food! Yes there’s a takeaway fish and chippy but we found that added to the buzz rather than being intrusive. Amazing range of dishes and selection of fish and seafood. Puddings were also on point. Some of the best food you’ll eat. Well worth a visit. It was like finding a hidden gem

Ok so I need to be honest. After reading great reviews and hearing the reputation I have to say I am disappointed. Firstly, I ordered a large cod and chips. I got maybe a hand full of chips and a thin slice of haddock. A large meal for £12.50 and I’m still hungry? I’m not a big dude… The portion size is a joke. Also I added in the notes to please give extra salt and vinegar which they clearly didn’t take notice of. Secondly and the funniest part is me “buttered Bun” had no fricken butter on it! Just a dry bun thrown in The bag! I paid £20 for a meal for one expecting great things and was just left in dismay from sheer laziness and lack of attention to detail and cheap portion sizes. No one should be left hungry and disappointed for £20. Now I must say the little food that did show up was delicious… I must say. Batter was delicious as were the chips. But I just can’t look past the rest.
